Great little spot in Adams Village. Mostly takeout/no table service, but my guest and I enjoyed a wonderful meal there last night.

I just moved to the area and one of my main things to do when moving is to find a good Chinese food place that's close by. I was walking around one day and saw this place. Walking distance by my house I said I'll give it a try. :/ the food wasn't good at all. I ordered the general gau's chicken. The sauce was very bland, and the chicken was so chewy and tasteless. I only took like three bites before I decided I couldn't stomach anymore. The staff there were very nice and talkative. That's the only reason I'm giving them two stars. I should've paid attention to the number of stars and saved my money.

We got their menu in the mail and realized it's been a long time we gave them a shot. So we ordered way to much food and had it delivered. The delivery driver actually answered the phone and said it would be 45 minutes. And it was that on the dot. The food 2as hot, fresh, and delicious. The cost was good, and a coupon with the menu allowed us to try the crab ragoons . Chicken wings out standing, boneless ribs cooked to perfection, and steak terriaki very tasty.

We had takeout from China Sky this evening. This was our first visit. We were intrigued by the sixties/seventies style sign and were hoping for a period era sit down Chinese restaurant. However we found ourselves in a small takeout place with a few tables for eat-in (after ordering and paying). We ordered a number of items for takeout: triple delight, pork egg foo young, shrimp and lobster sauce, chicken wings and crab rangoons. The egg foo young wasn't too greasy and had decent taste. The gravy wasn't too oily either. The triple delight had a small kick to it; we were surprised by that as we did not expect it to be spicy. I didn't feel that there was enough cream cheese in the crab rangoon, but otherwise it was good. Overall the food was good and the prices reasonable. Also, like many Chinese places, we are finding that many dishes do not come with rice (like in the Midwest from where we moved). The food was prepared pretty quickly (it took maybe 15 minutes to make). The place is located at a busy intersection in Dorchester (Gallivan and Adams). There is plenty of metered street parking. I think there is a parking lot for the building, but not too sure.

I stopped by and went for the recommended sweet n sour chicken. A bit of spice, an abundant dish, reasonably-priced, it hit just the spot!

Great food! I ordered delivery and everything came so fresh and delicious. I ordered the combo of…read morethe Shrimp with Broccoli, 4 Crab Rangoons, and Pork Fried Rice for $15.75. First of all, that is a pretty good price for that much food. There's definitely some places that have cheaper combos, but they usually have just a main dish, fried rice, and a single appetizer. 4 crab rangoons is a lot! Secondly, the amount of food that actually came in this order was massive. It is enough fried rice for at least two meals, and the shrimp with broccoli was a good portion as well. Third, the restaurant gave me a free egg roll on top of it! And lastly, the taste. The crab rangoons had scallions and imitation crab in them and were still very crispy. The egg roll had mostly veggies in it, but the duck sauce that came with the order is some of the best duck sauce I've had - it's not that orange or yellow stuff - it's the real deal made with the right proportions of apple sauce, vinegar, and sugar (and other things too?). But the point is that the duck sauce was GOOD. The pork fried rice was dark brown and the perfect New England style fried rice with bean sprouts (also not always included by other places) and BBQ pork. And the shrimp tasted actually really fresh and plump while the broccoli was crisp and absorbed the sauce well. All in all, 5/5 for sure - this is place is great!

Even the Jamaican place's price is similar! No matter how good the food is I hate when takeout places display the wrong price and then expect you to pay the higher price. I thought the price was 15.75...reasonable in 2025. Then he asked for 17 something. Guys...I know the public education system isn't great but anyone can tell that's more than 7% tax. Anyway, they just boldly asked me to pay the higher undisplayed price...much like the Texas BBQ place next door! I'm sure this is illegal. Let's hope the food is good or this review is dropping even lower. They did throw in a free egg roll to pacify me which is more than the other place did...and I'm fat so I accepted the bribe. Nevertheless. Restaurants...do better! Also...I'll be posting this when and only when I exit with my food!

On NYE I accidentally placed an UberEats order at this location when I meant to place it at another…read morerestaurant (with the same name!) in the greater Boston area. I realized immediately after I submitted the order and called the restaurant so they knew not to complete the order. I could hear over the phone that they were extremely busy because of the holiday. The woman I spoke to said that they would put a hold on my order. I called back a little while later because it still showed that the order was active on my UberEats app. The person I spoke with at the restaurant said I needed to call UberEats to get the order officially cancelled. Unfortunately, when I called UberEats they said that only the restaurant could cancel the order because the restaurant had accepted the order when it first came through and it was a "pick up" order so there was no way for UberEats to know whether I had picked it up unless the restaurant cancelled the order on their end. I called the restaurant back again and tried to explain this but they were SUPER busy and said that they would try to call and get back to me. I called again yesterday afternoon to follow up as the charge from UberEats was still on my account. I spoke with a manager this time and explained the whole situation. The manager could not have been nicer or more understanding. He took down all of the information and said that he would call UberEats and try to get it resolved. It's unfortunate that there is not an easier way for a restaurant to cancel a 3rd party order (such as UberEats) once it has been accepted (in this case even though they knew not to prepare it). All this to say, I REALLY appreciate that the manager took the time to call UberEats on my behalf (especially when they were not at fault) and get the situation resolved so that I would not be charged. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

Unfortunately, Yelp doesn't allow for half stars, but Yunnan Kitchen would be a solid 4.5/5 for me…read more A group of friends and I made the trek to the South End on a rather sad, rainy day, so we had high expectations for the food. For the most part, Yunnan delivered. We came in on a Sunday at 5 pm, and the restaurant was moderately busy. We were able to find seating and order relatively quickly. Based on one friend's suggestion and a bit of online help, we ordered the Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil, the Mint Beef, the Potato Pancake, and the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes. Overall, the meal was pretty good. The stars of the dinner were the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes and the Mint Beef (which was realllyyyy minty and herbaceous), while the fish tasted pretty standard for a typical Chinese restaurant. The Potato Pancake added some nice texture, but it wasn't particularly memorable and I probably wouldn't order it again. Now you might ask... okay? Cozy restaurant, fast service, good food--why the 0.5 off? And sadly, it was the dessert. Call me picky, but this was the part I had the highest hopes for. After finishing our meal, we decided to get the Coconut Delight and the Devil Sweet Sticky Balls (their words, not mine). The Coconut Delight was... okay. The best part was the bread (three pieces per cup), which, when soaked in the coconut milk, was just heavenly. But beyond that, the dish resembled a rather sad, runny coconut sago. The Devil Sweet Sticky Balls weren't much better. We loved the texture of the rice balls (chewy!), but the brown sugar syrup tasted burnt and left a strange, bitter aftertaste. This may have been a one-off, so we'll have to return to verify (and when we do, I'll update this review). But to give Yunnan the benefit of the doubt, I'll round up to a full 5 stars for now. For main dishes, fast service, and a cozy ambiance, Yunnan hits all the right boxes (just not quite dessert!)

The lighting here is very dim and gives off romantic vibes, although it's not necessarily a…read moreromantic spot. We came for dinner on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet. The food is authentic Yunnan cuisine, and while many menu items are labeled spicy, I wouldn't consider them very spicy. The flavors are more well-seasoned with just a slight hint of spice. The stir-fried rice cakes were delicious and reminded me of pad see ew in texture and flavor. The beef with longhorn peppers was very tender, and the sweet and sour pork had the perfect balance of crispiness, sweetness, and tang. The fish fillet in chili oil came in a huge portion, but I wished it had more spice. It tasted more like lightly spiced oil and lacked additional depth of flavor. I also did not enjoy the Dali mushrooms, as they were very dry and bland even with the side of chili powder. Overall, I would come back because the food is good, but if you're expecting bold heat, I recommend asking for a higher spice level. The service was okay.
