FAKE CHICKEN - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! Our general tsao and orange chicken was completely batter, no chicken.

I used to swear by this place for Years before I moved to atlanta, and then I moved and came back and went to one on river st for years Last week I finally gave them a try again and they are still the same. Everything still looks and tastes the same surprisingly a decade later. The rice is DARK brown & they put bean sprouts & large chunks of onion in it. (I forgot to opt out of them, so spent most of my time picking them out) I ordered the large Pupu platter and it did not come with crab Rangoons which is different but I ordered it anyway. The beef teriyaki was flavorful but a little dry. The chicken wings weren't huge and were crispy. The fried shrimp was mainly batter. Boneless ribs were really good and cooked thoroughly. The chicken fingers (which I wanted most) had a weird after taste to them. This pissed me off because I even ordered a sweet & sour chicken & they were the same chicken fingers just with the pink sauce too. The crab Rangoons (ordered a side of them) were good but mainly cream cheese not much imitation crab meat. I ordered an order of scallion pancakes before I ordered anything else, because that's all my kid eats, and of course they're not in the bag. I will say, compared to most restaurants, the woman who answered the phone was extremely nice.

Lobster Sauce and Ham Fried Rice with added roast pork.

3.5 not bad I like the deep soy sauce darkness of the pork fried rice but the pork and ham which i added were tough and dried out albeit plentiful the bean sprouts added flavor. The eggroll was kind of roundish and huge parts of the filling seemed to be carbonized how or why no clue and not my favorite the other two things I ordered were good enough which were lobster sauce and wonton soup called pork strip soup hear. It's definitely ghetto Chinese se takeout but it does the job. Btw the flavor on the fried rice was good just the toughness of the meats threw me off. Pretty good value too. Bye.

Be careful ordering number 17...Only 4 pieces of shrimp with this grease soaked meal

Worst food I have ever eaten. In fact, I could not even eat it. I had to throw it away after two bites.

Great food. Parking can be difficult; best to go with a friend. Liquor store right next door.

Great food! I ordered delivery and everything came so fresh and delicious. I ordered the combo of…read morethe Shrimp with Broccoli, 4 Crab Rangoons, and Pork Fried Rice for $15.75. First of all, that is a pretty good price for that much food. There's definitely some places that have cheaper combos, but they usually have just a main dish, fried rice, and a single appetizer. 4 crab rangoons is a lot! Secondly, the amount of food that actually came in this order was massive. It is enough fried rice for at least two meals, and the shrimp with broccoli was a good portion as well. Third, the restaurant gave me a free egg roll on top of it! And lastly, the taste. The crab rangoons had scallions and imitation crab in them and were still very crispy. The egg roll had mostly veggies in it, but the duck sauce that came with the order is some of the best duck sauce I've had - it's not that orange or yellow stuff - it's the real deal made with the right proportions of apple sauce, vinegar, and sugar (and other things too?). But the point is that the duck sauce was GOOD. The pork fried rice was dark brown and the perfect New England style fried rice with bean sprouts (also not always included by other places) and BBQ pork. And the shrimp tasted actually really fresh and plump while the broccoli was crisp and absorbed the sauce well. All in all, 5/5 for sure - this is place is great!

Taking a star from my previous review. Honestly if I knew the price I would have ordered from the…read moreHaitian place because their food is healthier and roughly around the same price. Even the Jamaican place's price is similar! No matter how good the food is I hate when takeout places display the wrong price and then expect you to pay the higher price. I thought the price was 15.75...reasonable in 2025. Then he asked for 17 something. Guys...I know the public education system isn't great but anyone can tell that's more than 7% tax. Anyway, they just boldly asked me to pay the higher undisplayed price...much like the Texas BBQ place next door! I'm sure this is illegal. Let's hope the food is good or this review is dropping even lower. They did throw in a free egg roll to pacify me which is more than the other place did...and I'm fat so I accepted the bribe. Nevertheless. Restaurants...do better! Also...I'll be posting this when and only when I exit with my food!

A moment of true nostalgia. As a Boston native, one thing I will forever love is the food,…read moreespecially the Chinese Food! Chinatown Express is one of my favorite on the go restaurants. I've been coming here since 2002 and though I moved out of Boston in 2005, I make sure to come get an order everytime I'm in town. Good food, good portions, and most of all, GREAT Combination plates. My go combo is the D11. Chicken Fingers, Boneless Spareribs, Beef Teriyaki, and Pork Fried Rice. This combination is a perfect balance of pork, beef, and chicken. The ribs are meaty and have a perfect sweet to salt balance. The beef teriyaki is well done and pairs well with the pork fried rice. The highlight for me is the moist, meaty chicken fingers. The meat is seasoned as well as the batter is too. The pork fried rice brings everything together as I take a scoop of rice with every bite of meat. LoL!!!! Now, if you know what's good for you, make sure to get the Duck Sauce. One thing about the Chinese food in Boston is the Duck Sauce. It's sweet and provides an added flavor profile to everything on the plate. Also, regardless of what you order, the duck sauce will always make it taste even better. LoL!!! If you're in the area you've gotta stop in and get some food from Chinatown Express. The menu has a variety of options. The lunch and dinner specials are awesome. The service is good. And the food is fresh. 20 years later and they still haven't lost the quality goodness that I enjoy!

We ordered 3 combination plates with sesame chicken, crab Rangoon, and pork fried rice, 2 combination plates with general tso chicken, crab Rangoon, and chicken fried rice, one large order of tostones, and one large order of chicken wings for $108. The food was ready after about 15 minutes and was still warm after 30 minutes when we were ready to eat. We all agreed that the food was less greasy than most Chinese food places. Also, the wings were really crispy and tasted fresh. The rice was really good, and surprisingly I did prefer the chicken fried rice. I liked the general tso chicken more than the sesame chicken since it had a bit of spice and more flavor, whereas the sesame chicken was just sweet. I did wish the breading was crispier, but I think it was just because it was take out and about a 20 minute drive. The crab rangoons were good but they did need just a little more filling for my liking. The tostones would have been a lot better right out the oil but it did bring a lot in the order. Overall, I was very satisfied with the portion sizes, flavor, and cost.
