This place is crazy. They have Korean corn dogs, boba, bingsu, and mochi doughnuts. We originally actually just came here for Mochinut, which is integrated into this restaurant. I wrote a separate review for it. My group of three shared a large mango & strawberry combo bingsu. I normally like bingsu, but this one really lacked flavour. I think the condensed milk was only at the very bottom, so the ice was pretty flavourless for the most part. The mango and strawberries tasted fresh though, especially the mango. We also split a strawberry cream puff, which was light and airy with tasty dough. They have a small selection of board games, and we had a great time playing Ticket to Ride. This was the perfect hangout spot to spend a few hours with friends, and it didn't get too busy even on a Saturday afternoon. It was loud though. I saw they have wifi and a couple of people were working, but I don't think it's a good place to study during peak hours. read more

Came here for desert and shared a Mango/Strawberry bingsu with a friend. She is lactose intolerant so when we saw that it was served with condensed milk and whipped cream, she unfortunately had to dodge most of the desert. The old menu photos taken for Yelp mention using milk and cream; I don't remember if the current menu did the same so I suppose that mistake is on us. However, I wish that those ingredients were made more obviously visible. I've never seen bingsu mixed with milk either, so bringing Lactaid for my friend wasn't a given for me. Aside from that hiccup, I enjoyed the bingsu. The milk added a really nice sweetness that I had never tasted with shaved ice before, and the ice itself was easily chewable. The mangos threw me off a bit since they were tougher and less sweet than I expected. Hopefully the quality of mangos are usually riper. I also appreciated how spotless the seating area was. The wooden floors looked recently polished and the unused tables did not have any crumbs. I've noticed that the Katy Chinatown as a whole tends to be very consistent with maintaining cleanliness. As a native Pearlander, the Bellaire Chinatown is already far enough but I do recommend the drive down I-10 sometimes; it really is a different experience. read more

This was our dessert stop on our Katy Asia Town food crawl. We decided on a mini TARO BINGSU, a mini FRUIT MEDLEY BINGSU, and a mini BLACK SESAME BINGSU. I loved the mini size option. It is the perfect amount so that you don't end up with too much leftover. Unfortunately the cup doesn't lend itself well to engineering a proper proportion of shaved ice to toppings. When we crave, bingsu this place is our usual go-to. The mango bingsu had a variety of mangoes (crisp, medium and plump). I like how it's served in the metal bowl, though the plastic spoon has a basic shape. The ricedogs are usually a hit but were too oily this time. Great hang out place! The workers are always nice! My favorite thing to get here is the potato corndog with half mozzarella cheese and half hot dog. It is so filling and I love the quality and amount of food I get for the price. I have also tried their mochi donuts which are so cute btw but I just don't think they're worth the price unfortunately. They taste great though! Why 5 stars? Because I truly wish I could try every single item on the menu. --- --- --- My pal Brittany S was recently in Houston and posted some amazing food photos from a little adventure she had. I immediately let her know that I NEEDED to know where she got all of those little snacks. And much to my total surprise, I find out that they had a Katy location, less than 2 miles from where I was. What amazing luck! And then I pull up to see the most glorious shopping plaza I think I have ever seen in my entire like: Katy Asian Town. WHAT is this place?! There must be 50+ businesses, pretty much all of them serving various types of Asian food. It's basically just like Bellaire, but everything looks and feels brand new. If I lived in Katy, I would pretty much live in this parking lot. As for my experience here, the reality is that I was not even slightly hungry when I arrived. But if you know me, I will always over-order when I am visiting a foodie destination like this one. I could resist ordering three different Korean corn dogs: a regular one, a potato and a ramen. All were great. I probably slightly preferred the potato, then the ramen and lastly, the regular. I actually had gourmet hot dogs for lunch, so it was all a bit of overload for me, but I could still very much appreciate these, despite the indigestion later that evening. Who knew eating like 5,000 calories in one day could lead to consequences?? I also ordered a Mango Bing Su and a Pandan Mochi donut. These were the big hits for me. They have the most delicious mochinuts, light and fluffy with so much flavor. They rotate flavors often and they go great with the different tea and coffee options. My partner seemed to enjoy this place more than I did. While the location is aesthetically nice, the food just didn't hit the spot for me. I was most excited about the Blue Taki's flavor which came out extremely soggy with grease. Would have been better if it was fresh. The corn dogs are crunchy and so so good. The Mochinut mochi donuts are okay, but some of the flavors aren't as potent as you would think they would be, like the Ube mochi, but still not bad. It can be a bit oily for my liking. They do rotate the flavors weekly which can keep it interesting though. One downfall is it does get a little crowded in the restaurant itself when they are busy, since the dining area is small. I think the restaurant name is Sul Bing Su, and they serve food from various other stores such as Chung Chun's hot dogs and Mochinut's donuts. We had a half half hot dog with sugar and, at the cashier's recommendation, a small mango strawberry shaved ice. I liked the mango habanero sauce at the sauce station. It's sweet at first and then the heat kicks in a second later. The half half has cheese at the top half and a hot dog on the bottom half (it's not side by side). I was so excited when this place opened because there aren't many places in Katy that serve bingsu OR korean hot dogs OR mochi donuts and this place does all three! Moreover, they all taste great, so I'm really glad to have this place in Katy Asian Town. I've gotten multiple flavors of bingsu, including injeolmi, fresh mango, and green tea, and I liked them all. I think the mango was really refreshing but if you're new to bingsu and wanting to try new flavors, I do recommend injeolmi! It is a korean flavor with a nutty/sesame-like tasting powder and the mochi adds a fun, chewy touch to the refreshing shaved ice. The korean hot dogs are a fun snack, I really like the sweet flour or rice flour batter that they use instead of corn flour which is used in traditional American hotdogs. The ones with potatoes also fun :) I recommend enjoying them with sugar, contrary to what you might think. And lastly, the mochi donuts are just the right texture, as you can taste the chewiness from the mochi. Sometimes mochi donuts are too tough or overfried and just taste like normal donuts, but these were good. A little oily, but the texture is good. read more

Katy Asian Town here I come. Me and some friends were wonder around where to eat for dessert. I found Sul Bing Su from across the mall parking lot. It was very well lit and not crowded on a Friday night. I ordered 3-piece Mochinut ($9) to share with my friends. Each mochi donut had 8 joining balls, like donut hole size. So, it was perfect to share. We all tried lychee, mango and chocolate. We had to take a break from each flavor because they were very overwhelmingly sweet. It was embarrassing to learn that they had no knifes or forks. I had to use napkins to break the Mochinut apart. I would definitely be prepared with scissors next time. Service was the same as in Chinatown. But this Katy location was opened before the Chinatown one. It is definitely a great place to visit when you are in Katy Asian Town. read more

I'm not a big fan of the ham and cheese version of the Taiyaki, which tastes a little processed, but the custard taiyaki are absolutely off the charts good. In fact, they're so good that we will be back many times - probably every time we're in Katy, or thereabouts - to get some more. With some of the best service in Katy and one of the best Taiyakis I've ever had outside Toronto, I would definitely give this place five stars and definitely recommend everybody come here to try the custard taiyaki. The only better ones I've hada are Kevin's in Toronto as I said, and perhaps the ones in Atlanta inside H-Mart Chinatown at Yaki Yaki. So top 3 I've had in the world is a very high compliment indeed, considering how many of these custardy fishes I've had. And yes, the ones at Cocohodo (the chain) are good, and set a standard, but Chungchun and those other 2 surpass this standard exquisitely.
