Out shopping and was looking for somewhere to get lunch. I check Yelp of course a d this place showed up. A Trinidadian restaurant! Being trini myself I had to check it out based on the reviews. It's very hard to find as the name is not on a billboard or on the storefront. I had to call for additional guidance. I finally placed my order as you are not able to go in for dining or pickup. Your order is brought out to your car... like curbside pickup. I waited about 15 mins to get my order. You pay online once the invoice is generated and emailed to you. I ordered a chicken wrap roti with a side of pumpkin. Once I got home and opened it up it was huge. Definitely enough to be shared by two people. It was tasty, the roti itself did not have a lot of dhal filling in it but the texture was soft. The potato and chickpea was good. The pumpkin had a slight taste of tamarind which I'm not sure I liked. The curried chicken was good as well. The pepper sauce added was tasty without being extremely hot. So so so good, we stopped here on our way from Miami to Orlando. This was the first time we had Trinidadian food and it was super yummy. My son doesn't eat much but he literally cleaned up the chicken stew. The Geera pork was super yummy as well. We loved the goat curry as well. Wished we could get try more stuff but we were full. If you are looking for delicious authentic roti, Chunkay is your spot. Got the beef roti and goat roti on separate visits and both were sooooo good!! The roti itself is really phenomenal--really tender and tasty. The shrimp wontons and the Trini Corn soup were both very delicious!! I was so excited to try this restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, unknowingly I choose Super Bowl night to place my order. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clear that they were busy but she took her time to explain what was available on the menu. Did I mention I waited until the last hour of closing to order. That is usually a no no for me because at most restaurants staff is tired and less helpful. But I will say she was so pleasant on the phone it almost seemed like it was the beginning of the day. So we had a special private dinner at Chunkay's (highly recommend if you thinking of birthday or just a private party location is perfect for it) and its was my first time trying but I was able to sample abit of the menu. The geera pork bites were so flavor full and tender you can tell they take there time with the seasoning and they don't use alot of water(if you know you know). I also had the doubles with pork and it was really good, the inside of the double was thick but not to wet or dry it was like a smooth but chunky paste with bits of pork and freshly cut veg that give just the right amount of that spring flavor. I had a goat roti as well with mild pepper sauce and the chef actually mixed the pepper sauce with some curry and covered it on the outside, this was the single thing that took this roti from an 8 to a 10/10 I dont know if they regularly do this but I would recommend it to anyone even if I was charged a dollar extra I think it would be worth it.
