    Calamari appetizer with red pepper
    Heather M.

I heard this restaurant just opened in September 2024 and it is so important to support local restaurants. This is definitely one of them and my new favorite spot when visiting Hobe Sound. Sophia's is a hidden gem with a really nice outside dining area and bar. The waitstaff was very attentive, the customers were very nice and the happy hour during the week from 3-6pm was fantastic! The bartender even offered to make a mango martini with a hint of lime that was not on the menu. That was delicious too! The flatbread appetizer with filet mignon and Gorgonzola was amazing! It was so delicious that I went back again a couple days later for happy hour again (but this time it was slightly overcooked). The calamari with red peppers appetizer was good but had a kick to it if you like it spicy. The filet mignon sliders were delicious too. If you have not been here yet, it's definitely a must visit whether you are local or out of town. The outdoor area is highly recommended! I will definitely be back next time I am in the area.

Orange cake with fresh orange juice. Moist & excellent!

Food was plentiful & very tasty. We both had leftovers to take home for another meal. Ambience was great. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were very friendly & helpful. We will be back! We did lunch on a cold rainy Saturday so got comfort pasta dishes. Also wanted to try an appetizer so got the calamari. All our food was very good though my chicken was a bit tough (hard to find really tender moist chicken anywhere). My husband loves oranges & orange juice. They have an orange cake that we got as a takeout but he tried before we left. Excellent!!

I wanted to specifically write a review for Sophia's. Shane at the bar out back is 10/10. Me & my boyfriend went for happy hour last night. It was busy, a full bar. Shane had great recommendations for food & made his drinks even better. I appreciated his positive attitude despite his full bar. To me the bartender also sets the vibes. You can definitely tell Shane loves what he does!! Will definitely be back & we hope to see Shane!!

The service, food, atmosphere was all good. Brandon was our waiter, and we couldn't have asked for a more professional service. This seems like a good place for a date, it also just a night out to eat and socialize.

What a HUGE disappointment and a ruined Mother's Day dinner!…read moreSadly, we have been coming since they opened and will not be back, and will be sure to warn others to not waste their money. A 5pm reservation would make one think, quality service and a fresh hot kitchen! Well something certainly has changed in the last few months because we received neither! After explaining to our server how excited we were to be there for Mother's Day and how it was our parents first visit we placed an order of 3 appetizers (all more bland and less hot than they should be) - keep in mind the restaurant was mostly empty. As we waited for our entrees (an unusually long time) our server didn't check on drinks or water. When 3 of our 4 entrees did come out, we waited for the 4th as manners would expect. Five minutes, 10 minutes, still nothing. When I finally was able to flag down our server there was some excuse about "mixed up tickets" and that a "manager would be right over." 15 more minutes, all were done with their meals as my husband still awaited his entree. No manager, no server. Completely unacceptable. As my sweet husband cut into his filet, completely over cooked and rubbery, was supposed to be medium- he dare not send it back as everyone else was done and he felt terrible. To make matters worse, my father's fish, was loaded with blood line, ruining the flavor of the meat of the snapper. The least they could do was send a manager over. $200 later- (no alcohol) we will definitely never be back and you shouldn't waste your time or money either. There are plenty of other great restaurants around that will take far better care of you and your family.

I had to go grab the hostess to find our server and out popped Alexis. Super sweet, bubbly and kind! She is amazing in every way. We ordered burgers and I had to send mine back as it wasn't done enough. Alexis to the rescue. Swooped it up and back it came perfectly cooked. The restaurant is decorated beautifully but I'm looking for that holiday vibe. Overall, we will be back!

Took forever once seated to get food or any type of service. Eventually went to the bar to get a refill of drinks along with others in our crew. The menu is an absolute joke as there is a lot of fill on what they serve you but both my wife I chose the burger as it was the most likely to interpret what I'm ordering. One it came after about an 1 -1 1/2 hours the burger was ok and fry's looked like it was fried in old oil. They were cold and for the money it was not worth it. I think a Macdonald Big Mac would have tasted better at a fraction of the cost. $27 for a burger, cold fries and a small milk shake which I couldn't understand that addition. While sitting at the table I am getting dripped on by the AC duct as that portion is in front of the door opening and with humid air coming in hitting that cold duct it was condensation and dripping on the patrons. In this case me. The server was terrible in my opinion and didn't really cater to many of our needs but the restaurant feels obligated to charge 20% gratuities of 6 people or more. Now I understand that concept as foreign people don't tip like in their country or none at all but that is where the problem is. If a server is good or bad they still are get their tip and in this case there was no incentive for good service. If I am paying $27 for a burger and fries that server better attend to my needs quickly and efficiently. Not sure if I ever will return to this restaurant as it left a bad taste. I usually go by the baseball rule 1 2 3 strikes your out but what brought me over to 3 strikes is the stupid menu and pricing. I think I will make my own dinner at home and bring it to the causeway for a better view and cheaper food and much better food.

For our entrees, I had the seafood platter, my bride had the shrimp scampi. Finally for dessert we shared a slice of the caramel cheesecake. THE ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is on the water with bar seating and white cloth table dining in several rooms. If you're looking for seaside dining Pirates Cove will suite you fine. THE FOOD: Our appetizers... My French onion soup was made like a traditional French onion soup with plenty of melted cheese and oodles of onions. There were plenty of mussels bathed in a delicious white wine and butter base for my brides mussels appetizer. Our entrees... My seafood platter featured a small serving of white fish, which was nice and juicy, two small stuffed shrimp, which were quite tasty, two scallops made properly (not under cooked and slimy or overcooked and rubbery). My brides shrimp scampi featured 5 small shrimp over a bed of linguine. The dish was well made with hints of garlic and butter in the balanced cream sauce. The dessert: Our caramel cheesecake dessert was creamy and rich. THE SERVICE: It's always a challenge for a server to serve large parties, but our server did great. Delivered our drinks in a timely fashion watched over us for any needed refills and clearly explained any questions we had. THE BOTTOM LINE: As always with my reviews, the "customer so what" would I return is complicated for the Pirates Cove. My answer... probably not. Why not if the food was prepared properly, the ambiance was fitting for a seafood restaurant and the service was fine? The answer lies in serving size, price and add on charges. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium meal but Pirates Cove charged $40 for a seafood platter that should more realistically be called a seafood sampling. At $36 My wife's shrimp scampi should have featured large shrimp instead of the small shrimp she received. And, finally, the add on prices which included a 3% service charge and a whopping 21% tip. I don't mind tipping heavily for good service and our server would have probably gotten 25% if it was my choice. However, I HATE having a restaurant dictate what I'll tip! I understand mandatory tipping for a large party but I've never seen it set at 21%! As for the service charge, it was placed on every bill whether you paid with a credit card or not. One of my guests asked if that was a credit card fee (which I hate as well) and was told if he paid cash, our servers would take that fee off. How many people didn't know enough to ask that question, and end up paying that fee when paying with cash?? I hate underhanded trickery like that and discourage it by not returning. In summary you'll have to ask yourself before dining at Pirates Cove, is the food, ambiance and service quality worth the rest? If it is, enjoy. As for me, I'll skip it. There are too many other great seafood places that will provide quality dining, great service and atmosphere without the unwelcome luggage included.

I worked as the bookkeeper at Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club for just under a year. During that time, there were significant leadership changes, including three different Commodores and four Treasurers within roughly 11 months. My direct supervisor was the Treasurer. I was terminated abruptly by the then-Commodore, after he overrode the Treasurer. I was given no prior warning, had no disciplinary actions or write-ups, and was not provided earned vacation pay. I was also excluded from the Christmas bonus. Prior to this, I had been asked to remain in my position despite earlier leadership turnover, and I did so in good faith, fully committed to the club's success. I believe my termination stemmed from reporting verbal harassment by a board member to a prior Commodore. After that report, my work environment changed noticeably. The Treasure recognized the hostility and approved a remote work relationship. Membership turnover was extremely high during my tenure, with multiple members leaving within a short period. In addition, the club was reportedly cited by the state twice in under three months, including one incident that resulted in a temporary shutdown (public record). This is a closed club, so prospective members or employees may not see these issues firsthand. Based on my experience as an employee, I would strongly caution anyone considering working here or considering membership to carefully evaluate the leadership culture and internal dynamics.
