I go here frequently and absolutely love this place. Love the fact that I can grab food and a beer and watch a movie. I also really enjoy the throw back movies they do every year. For example they play Jaws, The Goonies, The princess bride and even some Halloween classics. Plus the tickets are only $4. You cant go wrong with chunkys and the mangers are amazing! read more

3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 4. Chunky's is a kitschy (in a good way), old-timey feeling theater that takes me back to going to the movies as a kid in the 90's. There's a cool looking arcade in the front before you enter the theater which I didn't get to explore this time, but hope to in the future. Let me start off by saying I love the idea of a combination restaurant/movie theater which is exactly what Chunky's embodies. The chairs are comfortable but still sturdy enough for a dining experience. Also, the server's were good at maneuvering themselves through the theater with food/taking orders without really interrupting the movie. For food we got the high noon bbq nachos with fried chicken and the wedding singer meatball melt with waffle fries. Both were delicious! Lots of toppings on the nachos which I loved. The meatball melt is made using garlic bread as the sandwich bread which was just the touch it needed. Think of spaghetti and meatballs in sandwich form, minus the noodles. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. Great bar style food wrapped up in a fun dining experience. Will definitely be coming back! read more

The newest Chunky's location is everything you want in a cinema/pub. Lots of parking, decent admission prices, and very clean. The new leather seats are great. The only negatives I would share is that the audio tends to be a little on the "too loud" side as opposed to not loud enough. Also, the food prices tend to be a bit pricey and are of OK value. Tip for the first-time Chunky's visitor: Make sure you get seated right when the theater opens which is usually an hour before the showtime if you want to order food and have it delivered before the movie begins. read more

I keep trying this location hoping it will improve, it just...doesn't. First of all, the tables are absurdly small. They pack 8 chairs to a table, but they don't fit that many. People have to push out into the aisles or stagger away from the table. They either need larger tables or fewer chairs. Secondly, the food is a letdown. Consistently I have some kind of issue. Even with something basic like chicken tenders, they repeatedly overcook them so that the outside is hard and crunchy and the chicken doesn't actually taste like anything. Nachos either have no cheese or no meat, or are overcooked and inedible. I've had to send back burgers for being too overdone. I thought these issues would go away once they were more established, but I just went this past weekend and I still had issues with the food. Service is very slow here. I try to get here an hour before the movie starts so I can order and get my food prior to the movie, but it never fails that I'm eating my food in the dark. It's also common to get my food and never get silverware, or my drink. I don't understand what it is about this location. I've been to the Nashua location and haven't had these problems. Is it lack of management? It's frustrating because a night out at Chunky's isn't cheap but I'm tired of wasting my money on subpar food and uncomfortable seats where I can't always see the screen. Side note- I also don't understand why they didn't take this location and do stadium seating with seats facing the screen instead of having them perpendicular, ensuring everyone would have a good view. The positives are that they have a good bar, and fun drinks. And they do fun theme nights. read more

Wont ever go to this place again, 4 times now I had got burned by HORRID service But yet time after time I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. But the past time with no food till 3/4 through the movie and the theater half empty.. NOT ACCEPTABLE.. POPCORN SUCKED TOO... good prices for movies is about the best thing about the place... Went to the drag show last night with the wife and four friends. We had a blast! The show was none stop fun and laughs. What everyone needs to unwind after a long week. Our server was good. Food was pub food and tasted good. Drinks were ok. Service was slow due to not enough servers and I get it its tough to hire these days. This was our third month in a row going to this show. It was my little boy's birthday, and due to a technical difficulty, the kitchen never gave us dessert, but there was good food and another nice thing was the movie and a nice waiter named Matt who came to wait for us, although he only told us after the movie was done that dessert would not be coming. I went to a matinee with my son and I had no expectations at all. So given that, I didn't know I should have gotten there a little early to order and relax before the show. Now, my son was late meeting me there which did not help matters much. Anyway... I loved it. The menu was large and the general pub food. I was surprised at the quality given it is a movie theater. I don't know what some of the reviews are about but maybe I made better choices? the servings sizes were pretty big. The waiter came over in the dark and handled everything very well right to the end. I did not have any beer so I cannot comment on the selection. If you want just a bag of popcorn and a drink you can order that too. The concessions aren't much but there is a restaurant right in the theatre so it makes sense. If you want a pound of candy... well, you may be out of luck. Now that I know the routine, I am looking forward to my next movie there which will hopefully be this weekend. I go to Chunky' Manchester about once a month, so I know that the quality of the food is what one would expect from a movie theater. Nothing exceptional, but generally not bad. Until today when after waiting about half an hour we got burgers and fries that were stone cold. We were charged fo a side we never got, and the waiter didn't even acknowledge my presence because he was too hung up flirting with my niece. I guess next time I go to the movies it will be somewhere else and I'll stop for lunch on the way there. read more

We go here every so often as it's nice to relax and eat, have a beer etc. The food is not fancy but we've never gotten a bad meal. If you want gourmet, this is not the place. But as I say, we've never gotten a bad meal and we've tried a lot of things on the menu. I also love how they will play older movies with a twist i.e. Jaws with special retro beer cans etc. You don't find that anywhere else that I know of. I do agree that the chairs sometimes seem to be too close. We had some 20 somethings sharing our table and one girl must have been unhappy about that - she kept slamming her chair into the one between us. Overall we enjoy Chunky's very much. read more

Service can be a bit slow during a crowded movie or a special event, but no big deal, I'm not going anywhere until the movie is over. What a mixed bag Chunky's is. OK, right up front, if you are looking to go to really enjoy and pay attention to a movie, stay far away from Chunky's. Ultimately, that's not the point of Chunky's. The screen and production quality is low as other smarter people have pointed out and even with current technology you're in a warehouse with waitstaff walking around sitting around a big table in many cases. This is where you see something like Hotel Transylvania not where you see a higher end art flick. Anyway, I needed to preface this with that to set up the review. There are several legitimate reasons a person could choose Chunky's over other local options (Cinemagic, Regal, AMC Classic, etc.). The first one is base cost. Chunky's makes their money on food so they can undercut on ticket prices. This and AMC Classic are the cheapest ticket option in the area and if you don't want food you can get in and out for 6-8 dollars a ticket. Second, Chunky's offers early morning showings. Seeing a movie and being out by 11 AM is a great way to start a day and it is often quieter even for big releases that will sell out in advance at other theaters. Third, and the biggest reason, is Chunky's hallmark: you can do dinner and a movie in one place. So why three stars? Well, ultimately, Chunky's isn't great at anything. The theater quality has been addressed by others. The food also isn't that great. It's way ahead what you're going to get at Cinemagic or Regal but it's not as good as what you would get at even casual dining restaurants. I do like their breakfast since those options are closer to a meal out, but dinner is highly variable and if it's not fried it's hard to trust. The rolling chairs are okay: probably the best option for the set-up but increases the chance of disruptions and aren't super comfortable. The movie selection is very much skewed towards families and blockbusters which also limits choice to some extent. They also have this really annoying trait of removing and changing showtimes last minute. Always go to their website for showtimes and don't trust the ones that Google has for them: they will change showings at the last minute and your trip out can be ruined. Chunky's has its purposes and don't dismiss it out of hand. I'd suggest using it for when you want a decent bite with your movie or it's a movie you don't need to focus too much on, or if you want a cheap night out. I can't recommend it over Regal or AMC Classic for a moviegoing experience. read more

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The sitting/relaxing Area is very comfortable couches. We sat in theater ten to watch the new Wonder Woman. The screens seemed much better than in Nashua which is where we usually go. Prices are what they are in all of the different ones. Not inexpensive, but it was pretty tasty. Parking seems to be a bit of a mess there, but I will definitely be back! read more

Chunky's is a great way to do dinner and a movie at the same time. This is a new location conveniently located next to the Mall of New Hampshire right off 101 and also near route 3 and 93. Even so, this is my least favorite venue of the chain. In typical Chunky's fashion, the seats are set up along long banquet tables running perpendicular to the screen where you turn your chair to see the screen when you're not eating; however, they crammed in way more chairs than they should have, so if the table is full, several people have to sit in the aisle and barely get any room at the table. I hope you like literally rubbing elbows with strangers as you eat! We returned again this week expecting a free movie because we had two coupons, but were rejected at the counter with the reason that movies less than 2 weeks old cannot be paid for with coupons. The disclaimer on the coupon is really generic and doesn't specifically give a list of reasons that makes them ineligible. The wait staff here don't seem very good at their jobs, but this could be because the venue is still pretty new so all have very little experienced. We asked for some salsa for our quesadilla and after 10 minutes it still wasn't there so we had to ask a second time. The server also took my drink right out of my hand as I was sipping it after he noticed that he brought out the wrong one. If you are flexible on your location, go to Chunky's in Nashua instead and you will get a moderately better experience. read more

Ok so I love the idea of mixing of movie theatre and restaurant as a concept. They just need to improve the restaurant. The food is good. I love the fried pickles, but some things they need it fix when it comes to their food. This movie theatre is surrounded with restaurants all around the neighborhood. It's too easy to spend the same amount and get better food. Improve your food Chunky's. More people will eat there. read more

Ok, so it's got nice big seats that can move around. And, yes, it's got a full-service restaurant and bar. But, let's be honest, there are even more comfortable seats at other cinemas; they are not only roomy, but also allow you to recline and put your feet up. And this restaurant? Very sub-par. The pizza is, truly, the worst pizza I've ever tasted. Even the kids didn't like it! I've had better pizza from a gas station. On the positive side--they do have a decent beer selection, including some craft beers. In short, I only go here when invited by others. Chunky's, here's an idea: since you've got a full restaurant, why not become the first theater in the area to use real butter on your popcorn? When this place opened it was amazing!!! BUTTT that's until they changed their menu and took all of the good food off of it. The food sucks now. I even got the same nachos that I got before (bbq pulled pork) and they suck now. Before they layered it and put tons of BBQ sauce and cheese -the best parts- and now they barely put any of either. I'm sure you've had bunk nachos somewhere before... these are like them. Basically if you're going there for food and want something other than a burger or chicken fingers.. don't go there. Save your money and get something to eat elsewhere and go to a cheaper movie theater to see a movie. This is only reviewing the food/service part of this- obviously if you see a bad movie that's not their fault. The food here is terrible. Like, truly disgusting. Everything tastes like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for way too long- which makes sense considering it takes an hour to get your food once you order it. We've been a handful of times since they opened and every single time someone in our group either has their food messed up, or has to wait until the movie is almost over before getting their food. The second to last time we went we had to go outside twice due to the fire alarms going off. Each time we came back in the servers offered to heat up our food and took it away for at least 45 minutes. One of our friends just asked for hot fries since we'd been outside for about 15 minutes and they were cold. They brought him a basket and then went ahead and charged him extra for it. They just seem to have a lot of issues to work out. The tickets are pretty cheap for the movies but I think the best plan is to eat beforehand and just stick with a drink while watching the movie. read more

Last week came to see ant man while theater sitting at tables with there red lights on. Problem servers ignored our theater. 10 minutes before show time I found employee in hall way and asked him to get someone.. today service still terrible. If you manage your expectations before going to Chunky's, I think you will be happy. There really isn't anywhere else in the area to go have drinks and food while enjoying a movie. They serve bar/pub food on demand so you cannot expect anything gourmet coming out of the kitchen. I've had some good food and some mediocre food. The service can also be hit or miss depending on how busy they are. I can imagine on a Friday or Saturday evening, it might be a bit slow. We've gone several times to an afternoon showing, and the service was spot on. To be honest, the real reason we love Chunky's is to entertain the kids with a movie while we can relax with a beer! As far as cleanliness goes, it has never appeared overly dirty, the bathrooms are pretty clean, and they wipe down the menus after use. Again, if you are visiting at peak hours, it could get sloppy...kids and adults alike can be messy! read more

This place has had ups and downs. It's really close to where I live so it is very convenient to go to. The first few times we went after it opened it wasn't great. Later on they have found their groove more and it improved. The food is pretty standard. I've had the chicken and waffles, which is ok. We get the Adam sampler a lot now and I do enjoy eating that. The place is done up very well and has a nice looking bar. Be careful as they can get very busy. We've bought tickets and couldn't locate seats and were able to get a refund, which was good.
