After downsizing our home, we had a lot of good-quality items we wanted to donate locally. But every time I've tried to drop things off, the experience has been frustrating and honestly disappointing. There's been no basic appreciation, no thanks, and no sense that donations are welcome. Instead, the only responses I've gotten from staff have been things like "don't walk into the donation area," "what are you donating," or "we don't take that" -- even when the item is clearly listed as accepted on their website. The overall attitude toward people trying to donate is rude and dismissive. I won't be bringing anything else here and will be finding another local charity that actually values donations and treats donors with respect. read more

They are quite selective on what they will accept for donations. Does not accept books, DVDs, or picture frames (even brand new). These items not listed on their web page "does not accept" list. Hope this avoids a wasted trip for someone. read more

Took some friends on tour in Sonoma, and we came upon the church mouse...it is a lovely, well-organized thrift shop...with many new things as well... great kitchen items and at times silver....the clothes racks have some fun jewels and vintage as well....worth a stop by for some fun! read more

Very disappointed by the service at the store. My fiancée purchased 4 items, including one in which the wrong item was rung up and included. Upon reviewing the receipt (whilst still in the store!) , my fiancée brought it to the cashier's (Krista) attention. Krista said 'No returns allowed, I don't know what to tell you'. Her attitude and behavior was short, rude and neither professional or helpful. Upon asked to speak to her manager, Krista informed my fiancée that she was unable to call her manager. The second sales clerk asked my fiancée what she would like to do. My fiancée asked for a refund, to which she responded You need to keep the shoes' . My fiancée left both the shoes & the receipt at the store for the manager to review. My fiancée is African-American and wonders if a Caucasian woman would have been treated the same. Note: proceeds of the Church Mouse go to the Catholic Church .. is this how the Church wants it's supporters and patrons to be treated? read more

I love this thrift store. Yes, about 50% of the items for sale are junk, but there are some real treasures to be found. I've found great toys (for $0.50 - $5.00), books ($.50 for paperback & $0.95 for hardcover), housewares, holiday decorations, and a few clothing items. I even bought crutches when my partner temporarily needed them, and was pleased to spend $10 instead of over $50 at a drug store. The staff is always polite, and they have a dressing room (unlike many other thrift stores these days). I'm a fan of the Church Mouse. read more

This is the BIG Church Mouse store of the 3 in the Sonoma area. This is where you look for bicycles, old golf equipment, housewares. The larger items are piled outdoors. The interior store is rather musty. Pretty slim pickin's for the "good stuff" compared to the store across from the Sonoma town plaza. read more

This is one of the best Thrift Shops I've ever been in and the best in Sonoma Valley. I have been a loyal customer since I moved to Sonoma back in the early 90's. The dedication the employees put into the store shows they are always so helpful and keep the store organized and stocked in every department. I visited this location after going to the downtown plaza location. One thing in common- this place is still expensive. It is the location where the items considered less desirable for the downtown location are displayed. Prices aren't much better. As far as the goods are concerned, this is the place to buy the plastic bowls that you saw at Dollar Tree for twice the price. I saw a router table that I had some minor interest in buying. It was worth 10.00, not at 20.00. There wasn't much at that place that interested me. By the way, the place doesn't have a restroom for customers. No exceptions. The prices are high. Thely check the internet and price their items at the highest resale price they see. I imagine the goal for a thrift store is move sell as much merchandise they can, to keep from the overload! Anyway when they have a sale that is the time to go there. Check their fb page for the sales. I live close by, so I must admit I go there for items I need , ie a birthday card, computer paper, cause I dont want to drive down the highway. So this place has become my "dime store" "hardware store". So I love that,Ican usually find what I want, (wrapping paper) at a good price and it is convenient. The are over priced for a thrift store but still less than retail. And yes donating there is a challenge. So I do not donate there anymore. I take it to the goodwill. Goodwill has the resources and $$ ability to deal with all the garbage and excess sthey get. Most people try to donate garbage, take a look at your stuff if it looks like crap then dump it, no one wants it NO ONE. Even if it is useable. Drive to the dumps and pay to get rid of it. Even the goodwill is going to check your stuff out. BUT church mouse has the rudest people . I go there a lot and rarely do I encounter a friendly employee. That is just sad. read more

Worst of three IMO. I can't ever seem to find anyone who is working when I've been in there. I had to stand around and wait for them to magically appear. The prices were pretty fair off IMO. I don't get it, its a second hand shop but it feels like they are trying for full price. It makes no sense. I went a few times to give it a shot but no plans to go back. I also took a donation there and the guy who was working gave me a really hard time and the whole process took 30 minutes and I didn't take that much. I was unamused and will not be donating here again, way too much of a hassle! read more

This store used to be great. Now they turn their noses up at everything donation . The manager is rude. They say that they can't use something because it has a scratch but yet in the store there is broken down junk every where. I have taken what they have said no to, as a donation, and gone to consignment and made money. read more

You can find some cool stuff outside, but inside is ugh! I drop in on occasions and I have to admit...as a seasoned thrift store shopper I am not impressed. They want way too much and so the fun of the hunt for that real deal is taken away. Like it or not they sell donated items so screwing those of us who want to have fun and shop seems......money grabbing. I have been in the store many times. Yesterday, I picked up some beautiful bone china decorative plates and a little gold handle purse mirror with a beautiful image on the back. It had the original gold sticker that I-Magins had on it. Currently the mirror is selling for $100.00 on ebay, I got it for less than $15.00. I enjoyed the collection and the volunteers who waited on me. It is nice to spend money knowing it is going for a good cause. I would love to see more Catholic parishes do the same thing. The hierarchy for items donated to the Church Mouse is that the best stuff (name brands, complete sets, highest quality) goes to the Plaza location, furniture and OK stuff (but not high end) to the Boyes location, and the left overs stay in the Agua Caliente location. Got it? read more

Came here to donate some old picture frames, they took them without issue. They didn't have a lot of interesting things but I was able to find a glass lemon reamer for just $2, everywhere else I've looked they go for a minimum $10 so I thought it was a good deal. About the size of a large Goodwill. Good variety of things, sports equipment, some furniture, toys, small appliances. Didn't notice prices on some things. Small selection of CD's and DVDs. VHS selection is pretty good and at 25 cents a good deal compared to a lot of other thrifts still charging a dollar. Well-lit store and spacious. I did notice they had a washing machine that was ON and washing clothes - first time I've seen a washing machine doing that at a thrift store and I am relieved! Books selection was a bit all over the place, no organization but all were on shelves at least. They did all seem to be older, mass-market titles though. Didn't notice the prices on clothes as I didn't find anything and left promptly. At least this Church Mouse was open and had parking, although only accessible from westbound lane I believe. read more
