    Weekly color sale
    Jennifer H.

Been here a few times and loved the variety of items in store. They have a revolving color tag sale each week. Just be on the lookout at the front of the store for the sign that tells you how much of a percentage off a specific color tag is. During the spring time they have wedding dresses on sale. Some were just $50! I previously had hoped to get a dress here right before the pandemic, but unfortunately all stores closed up then so I never got the opportunity. The clothes are in good condition. I'd still recommend to check them thoroughly before purchasing. Great little thrift shop. Parking can be really tight though! There's just a tiny lot in front. You can perhaps try parking at the park across the street then walk over.

Adorable thrift shop in Sunnyvale next to my favorite boba shop! Went there for the first time today as they have limited days/hours. But, prices and selection of items are great! They have an assortment of clothes, jewelry, home appliances, dishes, knick knacks, children's toys, holiday decor, and more! However, men's items are limited. They said inventory changes all the time and they also had a 50% of discount "blue tag" items. Upon entry they have a sanitizing station for you to sanitize your hands. They greeted me and assured me the baskets for shopping were sanitized as well. They also keep a count of the numbers of customers in the store. What I love is that they also are run by volunteers and proceeds from your purchase go to scholarships for women. Prices are great and you also feel good about your purchases. Huge plus!! Tip: when you check out ask for a frequent shopper stanp card! For every $75 you spend you get $5 off your next purchase.

This place is so cute. You can definitely find some good kitchen ware things and antique things. Came here to shop for some cake stands and goblets and theh have a wide selection. They have silver spoons and tea sets that were nicely polished in the cases for a very affordable price. They have a small shelf of shoes and some hand bags. A wife selection of clothes, pants, and some scarves. It was nicely organized by sizing and by style. Then they have a section which has electronics. What caught my eye was a SLR camera that was only being sold for $50 with 2 different lense attachments. What a super great find and came with some extra film. The people who work there were nice enough to let me tinker with it for a while before deciding if I had wanted to buy. The people who work here are volunteers and they are the sweetest ladies there. Never know what you will find here.

Orthoheel Porto 1 shoes $12 at Nearly New

After 23 female reviews of this store, now a real man's review! Men don't write reviews about these kind of stores! And for good reason, as most of the clothes and shoes in these thrift stores are for women. Men don't donate clothes -they wear them until they have holes in them. Barely used mens clothes and shoes don't exist. So when I was looking for a used sandal, my wife went hunting for me, and here's what she got. My wife shops Nearly New all the time, and found a unisex looking flat slide sandal in womens size 10, one size too large for her, but thought it might fit me. It was a Orthoheel Porto 1 in dark brown color, with adjustable straps. I wore it around the house, and then all day to Campbell's Boogies on the Bayou. No problem, a bit large, but usable, and nobody noticed, or if they did notice, didn't care. $10 at Nearly New for a $40 sandal, when new, and I saw at least 2 women wearing them. A few weeks later, the wife alerted me that Nearly New had a sandal that fits me, but she wasn't sure if was too feminine, and wanted me to try it out. It was a Birkenstock Granada Soft Footbed, a typical Birkenstock flat slide sandal in medium brown color, womens size 9 with adjustable straps. $130 new, but only $15 at Nearly New. Looked good, and I wore it several days around the house, and then all day at the Sacramento Music Festival, with no second glances from anyone. No problem on the sidewalks, but the shoes were uncomfortable on the uneven cobblestones of Old Town. My wife had a contingency plan just in case the shoes didn't work out. Her sister tried them on, and by adjusting the straps from widest for me, to their narrowest for her, she was able to fit them on. All in the family! I never tried this with my first wife, who also had feet about the same size as me, but a little narrower. BTW the sister thought I looked fine in the Orthoheel Portos, and I saw an older guy in shorts, sitting next to his wife, wearing Birkenstock Madrids flat sandals in off white, which did look feminine -but at least he too shaved his legs and feet! My guess is that the sandals didn't fit the wife, but did fit the husband. What kind of review is this for a man to write, about buying women's sandals!? Unisex looking womens flat sandals size 9 are fine, I tell the wife, but leave the 4" stillettos alone!

Ask the Community - Nearly New Shop

Do they have a clothing section for young children?

Yes we have children's clothes, books, and toys

    Are there fitting rooms?

Yes. If you have trouble finding it just ask the lovely volunteer staff.

    Where is the mens shop?

    Men's clothing and shoes available!

    Any 90s clothing?

The clothing is a wide variety! Shoes too!

Do they sell books? If so, a big selection? I"m looking for health, nutrition, cookbooks

If I recall, the book selection is limited. Book Buyers in Gilroy (used bookstore) has a vast selection of cookbooks. Your local library might also have a decent selection in the Friends of the Library bookshop (used books for sale.)

A girl opened the back door and asked if I was a volunteer. Holding a massive, torn Chico's bag and armfuls of clothes, I told her no, I was there to drop off a donation. She coldly told me they usually only accept donations Tuesday through Saturday, but said to just leave them since I was already there. When I went to place them in a bin, she rudely told me to just put them on the floor. Her face and tone were incredibly unfriendly from the very beginning. When I asked for a receipt, she signed a form and handed it over. As I went to fill it out, she snapped, "I need you to go outside since you are not a volunteer!" I told her I just wanted to finish writing down my items, and she aggressively replied, "No, it's a compound, just go." I just said, "Sure, whatever!" and walked out. She completely lacks customer service and basic social skills. Because of her sour face and cold manners, I decided not to give them my third bag, which held 11 Coach and Kate Spade bags and wallets. The Discovery Shop management team gets their salaries out of our donations, yet this employee is the exact reason they lost out on major profits today. I have volunteered for the Cancer Society before, and we were always taught to greet people with a smile and great customer service. She had neither. This Sunnyvale store never fails to disappoint. During my last visit, I caught the helpers taking clothes out of donation bags and putting them directly into their own cars. When I reported it to the manager, she said they were sent by the county to finish community service hours. Management need to train their staff better; donors deserve basic respect.

It's probably the best bet to get a gift that is cute and unique but you want it to lean more towards being western and not too kawaii and anime. Think of gifting a punny keychain or cute Jellycat versus a Chiikawa plushie or anime acrylic if that makes sense. Meaning that it's probably easier and maybe more acceptable to get a slightly more normie a gift here than it is elsewhere. As you can see, I'm learning what it's like to touch grass and re-integrate into human society. There's a good number of plushies, Jellycat and unique ones like a pink fairy armadillo mole one, tote bags and socks, nice range of jewelry, lots of California themed goods if you're looking for souvenirs that aren't mega generic, and they have a lot of other items as well. As with the quality and high regard some of these items have (Jellycats are NOT cheap), it can be a bit pricier, so make sure that you shop around and check prices elsewhere and that you actually truly care about the person you're getting stuff for and it's not a forced obligation one (family member you're ugh with or coworker Secret Santa that you barely know). Maybe a couple cute things I had my eye on, but it wasn't really for me (speaks volumes about me), but I can see how a store like this works in a pinch if you're gift shopping.
