I liked the smokehouse chicken but when I tried to order it online, it was not on the menu. I called 5 times before someone actually answered the phone and they said it was still available but they don't take orders over the phone and that is going away soon. The regular fried chicken there is terrible and needs more seasoning so I'm bummed that smokehouse chicken is going away soon. I guess I'll just have to wait until they bring it back because nothing is worth ordering aside the from the smokehouse chicken. I went to a Church's Chicken once like 7 or 8 years ago and I won't be visiting another after today. I pulled into the drive thru a little after 5pm and the speaker box was making a loud clicking noise. After a couple of minutes the employee on the other end said to hang on and then the box kept making the clicking noise. A few more minutes later the sound stopped but the employee wasn't answering so I pulled over and went inside to order. I guess their speaker box is broken. There was one person inside waiting for their order and apparently they had been waiting for a while because the employees were mixing up the orders. I got the five piece tender meal with the mac and cheese and a spicy chicken sandwich. The total was a little under $16 and I didn't find out until after I got my receipt that the mac and cheese is a $0.50 up-charge. I ordered to-go and had to wait another 15 minutes for my food. The employees didn't seem to be in any particular hurry to prepare the orders. I had finished my drink by the time I got my food and I didn't ask for a refill because I wasn't sure if they were going to charge me. The drink fountain is located behind the counter so you can't fill drinks yourself. Just like last time, the tenders were mostly batter and the biscuit was a chewy lump. The mac and cheese was more like a cup of cheese sauce with barely any noodles in it. The chicken sandwich had the thinnest patty I've ever seen on a chicken sandwich and it wasn't spicy. They used to be good with customer service. I went tonight and they didn't give me my jalapeños cheese bombers, the Mac n cheese was very dry. I love a spicy chicken sandwich so I wanted to try one from this place. It is super close to our house. Sandwich was alright but nothing spectacular. I think it was kinda plain and needed more sauce. The fries were freshly cooked and seasoned well. We tried the 2 for 5.00 wraps. We got a jalapeño bomber and spicy one. They were my favorite. Lots of flavor!! Husband got a spicy 3 piece meal with mashed potatoes and a biscuit. He said he would get it again. Personally I would skip the sandwich and get the wraps again if we return. read more

Today I stopped in at Church's Texas Chicken for lunch. Again I found the restaurant to be bright and clean. I will have to say, however, that the dining area is quite restrictive, i.e., it is small and there are not many tables for dining in. I ordered at the counter where I found the service friendly and efficient. Today I ordered their three piece chicken combo meal which came with a drink and a side. For the side I chose mashed potatoes and gravy. Probably should have chosen something else as the mashed potatoes left much to be desired as you can imagine in a fast food joint. I also sampled their chicken sandwich which was kind of small but very inexpensive. The cost of the food was very reasonable. All in all, the meal was prepared and ready in about four or five minutes. Unlike most fast food places these days the drinks were not self serve. Instead the gentleman preparing the order brought the drink out to me...I assume refills are not free??? Well, that's a bit different! Regarding the food: the mashed potatoes and gravy were, as you might expect, not very good. Both potatoes and gravy lacked flavor. The gravy was actually something one might want to avoid. Rate those mashed potatoes a "C-" or even a "D." The honey butter biscuit was ok but kind of ordinary...nothing to write home about. Rate it perhaps a "C+." The little chicken sandwich had a coating to the chicken that needed some seasoning. The sandwich bun was ok. The sandwich included a few pickle slices and some mayo. It was ordinary but worth the $2.99 I paid for it. It was certainly nothing to go out of your way for. Rate the chicken sandwich a "C." The three pieces of fried chicken were prepared well...done just right and not of all oily or greasy. The coating was a bit crispy and flakey. (I did choose the regular coating and not the spicy version.) The coating could have used more seasoning but at the end of the day this was very good, well prepared chicken. Rate the Church's chicken itself around a "B." All in all, rate the total dining experience (especially if we forget about the mashed potatoes and gravy) around THREE AND A QUARTER STARS...meaning slightly above average for a fast food joint. read more

Yesterday, we went to Church's for lunch. I haven't reviewed many fast food places in the past, but my experience was good enough to warrant a review. I ordered a 3-piece leg and thigh meal (spicy). They were out of drumsticks, so I got 3 thighs (real bargain) with mac and cheese and my wife had the chicken tenders with Cole slaw. The chicken was hot (heat), moist and delicious. The sides and biscuits were good, but not extraordinary. The interior of the restaurant was not very warm, so we just ate our meals with our coats on (too many exterior door openings?). Moved to Las Cruces late last year. Never had Church's before. Probably will never have it again. Was there around 7PM today (5/8/25). Ordered an 8-piece meal, mixed white/dark meat, spicy. A couple minutes after I paid for my order I was told, "we're out of spicy dark meat, can we do regular dark & spicy white?" Because I was hungry (as was my wife back home) I said, "OK, whatever". A couple minutes later I was on my way. Now an 8-piece mixed meal should be 2 each breast, thigh, wing and leg. Said so right there on the receipt. But when I got home and opened the box, I discovered that there were two breasts and two legs ... but only ONE thigh, and THREE wings. And the thing is, they're not exactly next door - we live in town, and they're halfway to Organ. So we literally and figuratively ate it. And ... it was positively mediocre. The chicken is good but they charged me twice for one order. When my order was ready, I swiped my debit card. The machine displayed "Approved, Remove Card." I took my order but the food server said the card didn't work. I immediately pulled up my bank account app and showed her the debit which had already appeared. She said my app was in error and I would have to pay again. The manager came over and apologized and that the billing would drop off my account in a few days, so I paid again. After about ten days, the double billing was still there. I then called Edgar the regional manager who said he would contact his IT staff to investigate. After a week, I called him back but he said it would be best if I went through my bank to dispute the bill!! He mumbled something about the franchise owners.....So I emailed Churchs chicken over a week ago and.....ghosted. No reply. At this point my card company reversed the charge pending an investigation. Every time I stop here which is about Once every Three months or so, around 11:30AM they are always ready to take my order.. They always serve nice juicy Chicken, unlike a lot of the other places. Granted sometimes the pieces are a little smaller than other times. However they can only serve what they get. I've never had a piece of what, I'd call cardboard or rotten-wood chicken from these guys & girls. At my age everyone is a guy or girl, so no offense meant. I love Churches chicken, but this location has to be the worst chain restaurant I have ever experienced. This is the only location in Las Cruces so I have been forced to go back but how can a place that ONLY does chicken ALWAYS be out of chicken. I can't believe the franchise has not cracked down on this location. They are closed during business hours they has posted as being open. This Church's is awesome I walked in placedy order paid and was out of there in about 15 or 20 minutes the only thing I had to wait for was my family size order of okra .Glad to see that the coleslaw is not soupy very impressed keep up the good food and service at Bataan Memorial Church's in Las Cruces. read more

So it's said Las Cruces is where chains come to die. Chain restuarants here are horrible then you go elsewhere and they are fine. This isn't Churches fault it the lack of work ethic here. I ordered regular strips and got Spicy. I asked for honey mustard sauce and got nothing. One one my sides was wrong. 15 cars wrapped around the building for chicken! Been in line waiting for 10 minutes and moved 2 cars! Who is managing this establishment? Do they not know how to look outside and drop chicken for the anticipated rush? There are numbers that be looked at for previous order trends! This GM really needs to speak to his management and staff! This is pathetic how can this keep the churches name ? Finally got to the order speaker and I was told there would be at least another 15 minute wait for order because their is not chicken! Since I've already invested waiting 20 minutes waiting what's another 15!? It gets better... so I pull up to the pick up window and I'm told they cannot fulfill my order of half spicy half regular on the family meal because they're out of regular!! So I'm told it would be another 11 minutes minimum... at this point this is just comical. So I tell them to give me what is available.
