We came in on a Wednesday night. We were on the road and did not expect to see the place so slammed. It was the middle of the week. It wasn't the weekend or anything special. The place was packed and full of buzz. There was a pair of seats at the bar and we grabbed those. Perused the menu and ordered some craft beer. We could see how in the weeds the staff was, so, we put on our chill and just went with the flow. Crafty beer was very tasty (the Frostbite IPA was awesome!). We ordered a pizza and hunkered down. The pizza came out of the window and was brought over by the boss. She explained that they were slammed, the oven was misbehaving and that the pizza was not up to their standards. She was having ours remade and comp'd. The remade pie arrived and was devoured. It was delicious (New Mexico with pepperoni and green chile) and likely even more so because of our hunger after driving all day. We will most certainly be back. And we will get a bigger pie! read more

Great vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good bar situation. Cold beer. They have crafts and the one sour i tasted was great. Tried the green chili beer. YUM. Awesome roasted green chili flavor. We ordered the green chili and pepperoni pizza: not recommended. The crust was not crispy, which caused the toppings to flop off the crust. No silverware, so at least the crust was pliable enough to use as a tortilla. Green chilis had good flavor. Zero flavor on the pepperoni and the crust. Updating my original review just to say I've continued to have yummy food, great beer, and always amazing service here! Today I finally tried the buffalo chicken pizza and it had the perfect amount of buffalo flavor without being overpowered with the sauce flavor. I love all of the Icebox locations but you can't beat the pizza & beer combo on Main. read more

This is a converted fast food place that is now a brewery and they nailed it! Fun neighborhood vibe from the moment you walk in and are instantly greeted with friendly service and knowledgeable bartenders. As a lager guy the bulders red ale has a very easy to drink feel to it and not heavy whatsoever. So it's instantly become one of my favorites. As for food the offerings are better than their other locations around town. We tried the cheese bread and NM pepperoni pizza topped with hatch chilies. Had the perfect amount of spice in each bite. Cool dining area, large patio, casual atmosphere. Good selection of beers although they were out of a couple of their standards. We had a couple of tasters and settled on the IPA. Easy parking led us a nice venue with outdoor patio seating and a mix of community and smaller seating options. Walking in the door, you choose your own seat, either at the bar or at a table. We chose a table where we could watch the Olympics on the TVs over the bar area. We had prompt service once we sat. We ordered 2 flights trying their IPAs, a lager, an ale, a stout and a porter. It was great to sample before we chose our full pours. I chose the coconut porter and Amanda picked the hopsicle IPA. We saw another table eating a pizza and knew that was our choice for food. We chose the 12" over the 16" size and ate the whole balboa pizza. Meaty, crispy crust. A little less cheese than I like but overall better slices than we were expecting in New Mexico (new Yorker here). Pizza was thin crust, yet floppy. Would we come back? It's some of the best pizza in town. Seriously. Really good stuff! Wife loves the wings. Service is super friendly and attentive. We've become regulars and they almost know what we'll be having. We like to sit inside and they will often help accommodate that. I won't tell you what beers to buy. Everyone has a favorite. I get the black lager 9 times out of 10. Usually take my growler and get it filled. But get a flight and do a taste test. They have 3 different sizes of full glasses. So even if you just want to get a couple smaller ones you can mix and match. It's super clean too! Parking can be a pain when it gets busy but you can park up the hill from the establishment after the businesses up there close for the day. read more

I heard good things, so I gave Icebox a shot. I'm not impressed and will not go back. An order of wings was $12, so I just assumed it would be 8-10 wings. Nope, it was 6 regular size wings. I got half hot and half lemon hot. The wings were caked in salt to a degree that made them difficult to eat, and I needed to slam a big glass of water afterward. The wings were just plain nasty. The pizza wasn't much better. I couldn't even really taste any marinara, and the cheese was low quality. I think people like the food because they have way too many beers while they're there. That's the only way I see enjoying this food in the slightest. Seriously, go up to Rinconada and get a pizza from NYP Slicehouse. I'd go to Little Caesar's before I go back to the Icebox. Good pizzas. The mushroom appetizer is really delicious. I can't resist getting it every time we come. I'm not super adventurous with beer, the Mexican style lager serves me well. Beer is excellent and they have a great variety on tap. I enjoyed trying the green beer with pixie dust for St. Paddy's, but settled with a flight variety. The calamari is ok for bar food. I was not a fan of the marinara being served chilled as I am used to ranch or cocktail sauce being cold and marinara being warm. The pizza was good and mushrooms appetizers were good as well. I'm a little torn writing this review. My inner beer geek tells me the beers are a little off. The Wit I had too much presence of coriander, the Brown Ale was too heavy, sweet and at 7.2% abv, too alcoholic for the style. Not that every beer needs to be brewed to style, but this wasn't a typical Brown Ale, and not in a good way. The IPA had was also a little too sweat for my taste, and was just bitter, without a lot of hop complexity. I did like their "New Mexican Common" a little roasty brew with a nice bitter note from the malt and they did have a wide ranging list of styles. The beers weren't bad, they just weren't that good. For the beer, I'd give the place just 3 stars. But my inner beer geek is also thrilled to see a place where people gather together over some beer, and this place succeeds on this level, with a casual patio outside and a louder indoor tap room. (I didn't have any food.) Service was friendly, the staff helped us explore the tap list. I'd give the rest of the place four stars. That averages 3.5 stars, so I'll round up to 4 stars. read more

After a good half dozen visits to this place, I can say three things for sure. The beer is excellent, the pizza is delicious, and the service sucks. So bad is the service, in fact, that after our last visit, in which we sat and waited for 20 minutes for one of the FIVE servers to take our order, before walking out, I can honestly say, we will never return. The servers are far too busy chatting among themselves or flirting with young customers to pay any attention to other customers on a very light day. No thanks.
