Recently I have been craving for fried chicken and I saw foodies posted some photos of Church's Texas Chicken so I decided to give it a try. I went to this fried chicken joint during a non-busy hour in weekday. There were just a few customers there and not many staff members were there too. I ordered a 3pcs combo with mashed potato. The combo was quickly served to me. Very efficient. As my first time eating their fried chicken, it was up to my expectation. Crunchy fried chicken skin and juicy meat inside. Sufficient portion to fill up my hungry tummy. For the foods nothing to complaint about. The taste was good and not too salty like another fried chicken chain. For the ambient side, I would like the shop keeper to improve the cleanliness as the tables were not clean as soon as possible though there weren't many customers. Chicken bones on the floors and left over on the table. I believe the customer experience would be much better with a tidier environment. read more

Staff trolling customers. It's take out day and Church's is on the list. Went through the drive-thru and picked up some meal deal and wings, all regular (no spicy). Got the order, drove home. Got home, separated the orders and realized we got shorted. I called them, they said if I came back right away they'll give us what was missing. Most people would've probably said, forget it. Well, we live close by, so "challenge, accepted." Went through drive-thru again and told them I'm the person that called. Again, all regular (no spicy). Interesting that I had totally left this out in my reviews! During lockdown, we had been doing so much home cooking that we need a break and was also craving for fried foods!! Since doing fried items at home is not something I would naturally inclined to do, we thought of Church's right away!! Being a fan of all types of Fried Chicken, Church's has always been high on my list, this location in particular is practically across the street from my home, and this place is always busy, even more so now! I normally don't review fast food chain restaurants; however, my dinner yesterday was just so horrible that I had to write this. We all know fast food isn't good for you, but I've never had an experience where I felt nauseous after eating it. While we were ordering, we saw that there was a promotion for munchers/bombers/jalapenos. We asked the cashier what a muncher is and he kindly gave us a sample to try. Please note, he took the munchers from the fried section -- food that was ready to be served to customers. When we tried them, we were amused. It was crunchy and warm on the outside, but as soon as your teeth tear the muncher in half and started to chew... it was icy. Can you actually imagine customers ordering the munchers only to find out that they're under-cooked once they've arrived home? We ordered the following items: 1) chicken wings - they appeared quite large in size; however, they were all due to the thick breading. I actually love the crispy breading if done right; however, it was way too thick. The wings were also too salty. 2) tex mex supreme sandwich - this was apparently their new sandwich and each sandwich was $6 something! There was a crispy fried chicken in the sandwich which wasn't very big. I shouldn't have ordered it and I blame it on false advertisement as it made the chicken looked big and juicy. What was more appalling was that while I was halfway through, I came across a flat bone!!! It wasn't even cartilage which could have been good for my own bones. I was like WTF! Few hours after eating and the morning after (as I'm writing this), my tummy felt very nauseous and my mouth felt excessively thirsty. I've not feel this horrible after consuming a meal. I swear I'm not having Church's anymore. It's also worth mentioning that I've been to this location many many times over the last 2x years... and the quality has seriously gone down. Today, I experienced the worst customer service in my whole life. I ordered a 3 pieces non spicy chicken meal at Church's Chicken drive thru on 9100 Blundell Road, Richmond. The lady said they only had non spicy legs and spicy breast. Then I chose 2 legs and a breast. When I got home, there was only 1 piece of chicken breast and a pack of fries in the box. Then I drove all the way back there and went to the store front and told them they made a mistake. I was surprised how the employee there handle this easy situation. The lady (not the one serve at drive thru) asked me to wait, because she had to check the camera if they gave me 3 pieces. In my mind, I was thinking so you people thought I tried to scam chickens?! Anyways I waited and asked how long I had to wait. The lady said 15-20 minutes because they had to serve all the drive thru first, and if I can't wait, then she can't help it. After 15 minutes, she showed me the video. In the video, a worker put 3 things in the box. The video was too small and can't even tell what the worker put in. Most importantly, the video did not show the box was delivered to me, which I'm so sure that wasn't the box I got. My box only had 2 things: a pack of fries and a piece of chicken breast, but the video showed 3 things. I explained they could be missing 2 pieces due to the order contained spicy and non spicy. The lady insisted they gave me 3 pieces and will NOT give me anymore. I asked for manager's name and she refused to give due to privacy. At the end, I did not get my money back or chicken. It was a poor customer service. 1. They did not do it right at the first time 2. They did not admit their mistake 3. They rather spent 15-20 mins to investigate if I tried to scam them 2 more pieces of chicken. 4. They did not investigate immediately because they had to serve the drive thru, but hey! I ordered this at drive thru. 5. Wasting my time to watch a video that can't even prove they gave me 3 pieces 6. If manager's name is a privacy, the manager shouldn't be working in customer service. I have been a fan of Church's Chicken for many years. Out of the Richmond locations I have visited, I still feel this is one of the best ones. Recently, we visited with the family and got ourselves some fried chicken, fries and homestyle biscuits. Every single one of those items totally hit the spot. Hot, crispy and oh so juicy!! In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with Church's and with their 24 hour drive thru service at this location, every body is happy. Over the years, this location has had some renovations. It now has some nice tiled walls and even a newer washroom. Service was quick and efficient. I think the one thing I would like to see improved here is the flooring as it is quite slippery. Hoping this is something that can be changed so it's safer for everyone, especially the children and seniors who dine here so frequently. read more

Not to mention their jalapeño poppers/munchies ($2). * The chicken was delicious we got spicy chicken leg this time instead of regular and let's just say it doesn't taste the same. Yes the spicy has a bit more flavour but totally loses it crunchiness and regular spiced flavour. I usually always get regular and I now know to continue to get it! It was indeed juicy however and it did taste amazing with the gravy! Their gravy is super rich and thick, perfect coating for your piece of chicken! The fries weren't crispy enough, even for take out, it was a bit undercooked, still golden but a bit soggy. Should've left them in the fryer for a bit longer it was clear they pulled it up and out earlier than needed to. * 7/10 - I prefer regular but the spicy did have good flavours I liked the spice. To me it wasn't too spicy but I know some people find it way too spicy for them. I'd get regular next time, and I'd ask for the fries to be well done! * 9/10 - the deals they have right now are madness super good deals and it's cheap perfect to eat alone or with your family! CoronaVirus 2020..... What do we do when we're stuck at home? If you're like me, then food is an essential part of your life that revolves around a social gathering of friends or family at the dinner table, or you're watching TV at home with frozen pizza, or gorging out on mashed potato salad mixed with fried rice and canned tuna. Pepper optional, siracha is even better, but I ran out.. followed with sad face emoji. #crying. All you hear about today is how you can do your part by staying at home and keeping your distance. But what about those who have to work? People in Hospitals and pharmacies and grocery stores that need to maintain the healthcare and food supplies? Yes we all need to eat and not all of us can cook 100% of the time. Like yesterday..... I had this extreme craving over the previous few days for fried chicken and not just any chicken, Churches Chicken. Like having that itch, that once you start to scratch it, you just can't stop. I know that feeling and I'm sure you do too! So stop scratching #!@%$@&!!. What is the remedy? Chicken! But how can I get my chicken? Well, at the time of this writing. We can still go out for a solitary walk. Keep our distance and so on. So I took a solitary drive donning my rubber gloves and mask and went to the closest Churches Chicken with a drive through. YES BABY YAAAS! There is a Churches Chicken Drive through and it is in Richmond. (Yes there is a Santa Claus). It's really easy to do. Just follow these instructions. 1-Wear protective gear to prevent you and others from spreading or getting infected. 2-Get in car and drive to Churches Chicken located on Blundel Road in Richmond. There's a map on Yelp that you can use which if you happen to have Apple Play or Android Auto in your car, then you can just follow the instructions as you make your way. 3- Drive up to the ordering menu at Churches, figure out what you want to order. 4 - Drive up to the drive thru counter and place your order from a distance. Make sure you talk loud enough through your mask so they don't have to lean in to hear your tiny voice. 5- Pay for your order and wait for food. NOTE: it's good to use TAP on your debit card (if you can, then you don't have to touch any buttons). 6- Get food and remember to say THANK YOU! 7- drive home to eat, or if you're like me and can't wait. Eat in car and enjoy. 9- don't forget that there are others who are finding their way to work to help support the network of hospital workers and retailers that all help us in the communities we live in. This includes those who are able to work to provide us with some food, like when you happen to get cravings for fried chicken. Say thank you as often as you can and mind your maners. 10- DON'T let yourself get our of shape if you're at home. Exercise, dance, sing, whatever it takes. Always a good time here. Had no idea this location existed until Larry L. was kind enough to post that FTR. Parking is plentiful in this nice large strip mall. The restaurant is a bit hard to find though, as it faces the street instead of the parking lot. The front counter is nice and wide, which meant that the crowd of customers was nicely dispersed. The condiment station here is also rather ghetto (laminate is so 1980s), but it's clean. How was the chicken? Artery-clogging good, as expected. Ooh yes. Long time haven't had fried chicken and I always see this place whenever I go to the Chatime in that plaza. Finally I got to try it out. I happened to notice that there is no Popeye's chicken here in Vancouver or on the West coast Canada. But they do have Churches which is equivalent to Popeye's chicken. I got a four piece combo that came with fries. 2 regular and 2 spicy. My first initial few bites of the chicken was it was pretty good! Had a very crunchy skin and quite juicy. I really enjoyed the fries as well as they gave you quite a lot and a good size as well ( tastes and looks better than Popeye's fries) Nice crunch too! But after eating the chicken for awhile, you feel kinda gross.. Well for me that is.. Maybe its the oil or too much yeast they put into it? I dunno.. But didn't feel too good after... Had to down a few cups of hot water to flush out that greasy meal and do a few pushups and crunches afterwards too =/.... Not as good as Popeye's imo but it's OK for what it is. I would come back.. but for their burgers/sandwiches and fries, probably won't be getting the chicken anytime soon.. December, 27, 2018 I had 4 pieces of dark meat original chicken and 4 pieces of spicy chicken for dinner with friend tonight. The spicy chicken was extremely dried.. they were out of fountain drink, without notice us.. they just charged us for a bottle of drinks instead... Short Asian lady cashier with big eyes was extremely rude/ black face/ slow services.. 3 employees was standing around in front of deep fryer without do anything or help. It was long line up with more than 8 people in line around 6 pm. I went to washroom to wash my hands , after I finished my chicken. Someone was open the back door and blocking my exit from washroom to the restaurant. I was yelling for help for 5 minutes. Those employees, who worked around the back door were ignored me.. I need to kick, pushed back and forth the back door so hard to get out from washroom. I hurt my elbow and leg from pushing the door. After I get out from washroom, i told few of the employees at the front end. They just laugh at me and ignored me.... that's ridiculous. read more

We don't have any fried chicken restaurants where I live now so I jumped on the chance to get my chicken on! I was feeling piggy and got and piece combo which was 2 breasts, 2 drumsticks and a small drink. I also added a side of gravy. The total was about $13 not cheap for fast food but I ordered a lot of food! I had the spicy chicken and it was delicious, just a small kick of spice, crispy and not overly crispy. They go heavy on batter here, but that's me being nit picky. The fries looked liked they had been sitting around a while, they weren't the worse I've ever had but I wouldn't order them again. This place has been around since I was a kid and I still enjoy going here for fried chicken. Their fried chicken is always crispy and fresh. I recommend ordering their original recipe and adding their pickled jalapenos if you want to add a kick of spice. The vinegar from the pickled jalapenos also cut the oilyness from the deep fried goodness. Their pieces of chicken are always plump and juicy. I ordered 2 of the 6 piece chicken combo and regular fries yesterday March 7 around 4pm at the drive through. 6 piece chicken combo comes with gravy. I drove from number 2 Rd and Steveston for the take out. I got home and the 2 Gravy's were missing. I called and talked to the manager about the missing items. He said he will call me back in 15 minutes to investigate. I told him I need the gravy now to eat the food. It will take me just about the same time to drive back there so I'm heading back there now. I ask him to make my trip back worth while for their error. I go there and talk to the lady that took my order. She apologize and offered to add 2 more chicken for my inconvenience , I asked to make that a large fries instead to make it worth my while. That is when the manager came to intervene, first of, he did not acknowledge the mistake right away and made me feel like I was trying to scam them of the gravy. He said he can not give me the Large fries. I told him that is the only thing that will me satisfied for wasting my time and gas. He was eventually agreed but not willingly and based on his facial expression that he is not happy to do it. the box of large fries what half full when I got it. He was not willing to make it right for the customer. I can't believe that he would do that over fries. The cheapest and easiest way to make a customer happy. I can see that on the other reviews that missing items is a common thing with this location as well. The manager just lacks the compassion and the ability to handle simple situation. I work on the customer service industry as well and this kind of thing would definitely not happen. Pinching for fries is not a good way to do business. I absolutely love the food here, it's so yummy and such good quality. for the food it's 5/5 the only thing is that they take so so so long every time I come here, every time i line up for the drive through it takes me minimum 15-30 minutes before i can even reach the first window. and then it takes so long for them to cook it and i have to wait another 15-30 minutes. this is NOT fast food this is SLOW food. i wouldn't come back here again but i do because the chicken is just so good. but the service here can get so shitty, so i took off two stars. read more

I came in the area while I was getting bubble tea in the hood 'cause I was having my monthly and I crave fast food. My cravings don't discriminate. I remember an Entertainment coupon that had been sitting in my wallet (why I had one in the first place was another story). Of course the chicken was more grease than substance but so so good. I find that Church's in general is way better than KFC. The eatery was a mess. I didn't see one person come clean the tables even though it was slow. Visited around 4:30pm today. Never in my life experienced this kind of dining It was horrible and ridiculous Maybe waited 5 mins to give my order. In that time I watched a fat lady give sh.t to an employee for drinking too much bottled water. yep, right in the middle of the kitchen where everyone could watch, and all he did was big smile at her. I can imagine where he was telling her to go, ( ha ha) The staff were hopeless, totally too loud shouting back and forth at each other. I tried the version of chicken nuggets. they were horrible, overcooked, dried out, I returned them to cashier and told her - it's garbage - she just smiled. I sat down and faster than you could shake a stick, she gave me another order. ( sweet person or guilty ) This was almost perfect. A little underdone and whiteish looking. I would not hire these cooks to feed my chickens and certainly not to handle food. I began to eat and an older man started barking out, I actually jumped in my seat and so did the guy and gal at the next table. I just left everything on the table and walked out. The owner must be braindead to operate under such conditions customer service was poor, poor attitude toward customer and the quality of food. I mentioned this to my friend and she told me that her 12 yr son refuses to eat at this location, They referred to another location as the old one, which they have no complaints. The tasty is okay. For the deep fried wings I still like KFC. The price is similar to KFC, but I feel the flavor is not as good as them.
