    Saag paneer
    Anna L.

Chutni Biryani & Noodle is an Indian restaurant which also serves Indochinese food as well as ramen, which is a bit of a strange combination. I have not tried their ramen, but they have a pretty good lunch special. Lunch specials come with rice, your choice of entree and naan. They don't just serve you plain naan, you get to choice the type of naan you want and there are many varieties too! I had the saag paneer with garlic naan. The rice is just basmati rice but it came out as bland and a little on the dry side. Could be more fragrant and use a little bit of salt and oil. The saag paneer was decent. They are generous with the paneer but the saag is on the salty side. The garlic naan was beautiful! So much garlic! Excellent naan!

Came here around noon on Saturday for lunch, but it seemed like they just opened up and was still getting ready. It also took a very long time for our food to come out. We ordered: - tonkotsu ramen - chicken tiki kabob - garlic naan - gulab juman (for dessert) The ramen had good flavour but the toppings are kind of lacking from the typical bowl of ramen. It came with 2 VERY thick pieces of pork (that had bones) and a soft boil egg. The chicken tiki was very soft and tender and full of flavour - definitely needed to be eaten with something - which is where the naan comes in (nothing comes with the kabobs so you need to order something to go with it). The garlic naan was good. I have to say that my favourite thing was the gulab juman - which is a milk and cheese ball deep fried and soaked in cardamom simple syrup. I was worried that the simple syrup was going to be super sweet but it was perfect! So perfect that hubby actually had half of it with me (typically he doesn't eat it). And the best part - it was served warm!!

Non Veg Thali at Chutni Biryani and Noodle Bar

Chutni has always been my go-to for Indian Food (especially Dum Biryani) in Stamford. The only complaint I had was that it didn't have a Thali option for lunch. When I went to Chutni, last weekend, to have my usual Mutton Dum Biryani and Chicken 65, I got to know that they started Veg and Non-Veg Thalis for lunch. Without a second thought, I ordered the Non Veg Thali. The spread was amazing; the Thali had two medium pieces of Chicken Kabab, Mutton Biryani, Zeera Rice, Chicken Curry, Roti Pachhadi (South Indian Fresh Chutney), One Vegetarian Fry curry (Raw banana), two Vegetarian curries; one South Indian style Vegetarian one North Indian. There was Butter Naan, Curd and Dessert (Rasmalai), too. Special shout out to the Roti Pachhadi; it was my all time favourite - Gongura Pachhadi. Overall, it was very tasty, the portions were generous and the spread of dishes was very balanced. The spice level was American Medium to accommodate all palates. To conclude, it was a bang for the buck; great food at a very reasonable price.

    Chicken kebabs (ungood)

"Good biryani, inexpensive wine, friendly service" - this pretty much sez it all. The biryani is perfectly serviceable, satisfies any craving you night have, but won't exactly send you rushing back for more the next day (the flavors are still slightly discrete and raw, with the whole being ever so slightly less than the sum of the parts. OTOH, the chicken in the biryani is, definitely, unctuous. Sooo, YMMV) As for the rest, stay away from the kebabs, naan, and ramen(seriously). And yeah, inexpensive wine, friendly service...

Best authentic indian food in Stamford area. Definitely try their wings! Other appetizers such as bhel purri and dahi purri were also excellent.

    Garlic Naan = amazing!

I really like this place. The inside is clean, bright and quiet. I went for lunch on a Thursday and it started to fill up towards the end of my meal. I was able to order the chicken korma lunch special, which came with garlic naan and white rice for $10.99. The korma was more yellow and less creamy than I was used to, but the garlic naan was heavenly. For the price and how nice the service was, I will definitely be back!

For anyone wondering about the name, it's pronounced "Me-uh Chah" (not "Mek-ah") and translates to "Mother and Father"--which feels fitting given how much more "soul" the food has lately. A few years back, I felt like they were missing the mark on the essentials, specifically the phở broth and the nước nắm. If you know Vietnamese food, you know those are the dealbreakers. The great news is they've clearly dialed in the recipes. I've been coming back regularly now because the flavors are finally hitting those traditional notes that are so hard to find in this part of Connecticut. My typical order: * Phở Gà (Chicken) * Phở Tái (Rare beef) * Phở Bò Viên (Beef meatballs) * Chả Giò (Fried spring rolls) -- Absolute must-order. They do have a lot of non-traditional stuff like Bao, Handrolls, and a solid Spicy Miso Ramen, and while those are actually very good, I usually stick to the Vietnamese classics since they're doing them so well now. The atmosphere is also worth mentioning. It has a really cool, organic vibe with tons of wood accents. The ceiling is covered in hundreds of 2x4s that hang down like a weeping willow canopy--it's unique and looks great in person. Pro-Tips: * Parking: Don't even bother trying to find a spot on Bedford Street; it's a nightmare. Park in the lot around the back and just use the pedestrian passage to walk through the building. * The App: If you're doing takeout, use their mobile app. It's a lifesaver on the weekends when the dining room gets slammed. So glad to have a reliable phở spot in downtown Stamford again!

I wouldn't recommend the Yaki Onigiri, despite reading positive reviews for it. The fried rice was way too heavy and didn't taste good. A newer server wasn't as knowledgeable on gluten free options there and also didn't take away our used appetizer plates before serving us the mains. It is the kind of place that works perfectly for a casual date night or a comforting dinner when you are craving something rich and flavorful. We started with the agedashi tofu and Sapporo, which was a great way to ease into the meal. The tofu was lightly crisp on the outside and silky inside, sitting in a savory broth that balanced sweetness and umami nicely. Paired with a cold Sapporo, it set the tone for a solid evening. My girlfriend ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen, which came out steaming and fragrant. The broth was creamy and pork forward with a steady heat that built gradually without overwhelming the palate. The noodles had a nice chew and the toppings were well portioned. I went with the mazemen, which was bold and satisfying. Rich sauce coating thick noodles, topped with a perfectly jammy egg and fresh scallions for brightness. It was hearty and full of flavor, the kind of dish that leaves you full and content. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and a laid back energy that encourages you to settle in. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The only reason this lands at four stars instead of five is that while everything was very good, it did not quite reach that unforgettable level. Still, it is a dependable spot for quality ramen in Norwalk.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. At first I was gonna place an order over the phone but decided to just do it in person. Once I arrived, the place unfortunately was closed, the sign said they would be back but nobody was there and the door was locked with a little sign that said to call that number. At that point I guess I could of just left but I was so hungry, I was really craving pho so I called the number and the nice lady said she was out on a delivery but she was on her way back and allowed me to place my order over the phone w her. In the meantime to kill time, went to a nearby target. Once she arrived and my food was ready, she gave me a call and I went to pick it up. The lady was apologetic about the wait, very nice woman, handed me my food to go and I left.I did get to check the place out, small establishment, but cozy and very hip and cool, would have been nice to eat there and hang out. I got 5 orders of their pho and a mango bubble tea. At that point I had waited a good 40mins if not more so I was starving and tired, the mango bubble tea was EVERYTHING, it was creamy, fruity, just right, and that made me more excited to get home and eat my food! Now, I'm used to adding the leaves and other things to my pho myself , so I thought certain condiments would come separate but turns out it was already all prepared in the plastic container which no big deal. The taste was good, very very tasty... however, very different than your regular Vietnamese pho. Now I don't know if it was because it wasn't necessarily a Vietnamese place (based on their food menu with mostly Korean stuff) that the pho was different, different meat and diff condiments so alright it was a tasty broth with noodles, it's not your typical pho so I have to be honest, i was disappointed. I spent quite some money there so I feel like a combination of wait time, inconvenience and disappointment in the pho, turned me off a bit. I feel like, as a customer, I was very accommodating and still gave them my business so that could of been an opportunity for them to use their customer service as a secret weapon to get me to come back?... Overall, I don't think I'll be driving out of my way to go eat there but if I'm in the nearby area, I'll deff be stopping for a nice bubble tea drink!
