When we did get our chips and sausa the waitress kept coming by asking us if we were done with our chips so she could pick them up because according to her they are not allowed to have dirty dishes on the table. This Chuys is in Bastrop just opened a few weeks ago and I think they are improving with time. We went during happy hour, which doesn't consist of much, but luckily got there before the r demon ush. Happy hour just basically consists of a dollar or two off of margaritas and a variety of chips and queso. There are not a lot of places in this town that have happy hour, plus it was a Friday, so by the time we were seated the place was packed! They are going to have to do something about the overflow crowd because some people that were waiting for a seat at the bar were literally standing right beside people's table while they were trying to eat. I asked our waiter about two of the items on the happy hour menu and he was unsure about what they were. I asked him if he could go find out and he said he thought it had to do with the different sauces they put on it. I just decided to take my chances and order something I wasn't sure what it was, but it turned out to be really good! We both ordered strawberry margaritas and they were excellent as was the complementary jalapeño ranch dip and salsa with chips. We ended with the Tres leches cake and it was good but not great. Overall, we did enjoy the food very much. They do have a kids menu with crayons to keep the kids occupied and quite a few options for the kids on that menu. I think once Chuys specialty works out the kinks and the crowd becomes a little smaller (with all of the new places opening up in Bastrop), this will continue to be a great place to go! read more

I will say, from all the hype I read on the FB groups I may have unfairly overhyped them prior to my experience there. An expectation is just a premeditated resentment. I would give the food a solid 3.5. It wasn't bad by any means, but lacked a lot of passion and for the enchiladas I had lacked a bit of depth in flavor too. Overall ambiance is an easy 4.5. Very fun and very vibrant. Matches the energy from the servim staff pleasantly. Speaking of service, while we absolutely were by no means neglected we also felt very rushed. There was at least two occasions where the server asked us if she could clear some stuff from the table as she was already lifting it off and away with us still picking at it. If that last bit was to help cycle more guests through, I get it. Lines are long. Apparently Bastrop has been waiting for a Chuy's because the people sure show up! Would return. Hoping for better quality in food, otherwise no other complaints not to. read more

The food was good. Chips good as expected. The service needs attention. Server Chase adds extra margaritas to the bill and is fully aware of it when called over about the bill. In our situation, he knew exactly why we flagged him down prior to us even speaking. No wonder he repeatedly pretended he didn't notice us waving him down. "Oh the extra margarita? Oh ya, I forgot to take that off the bill. I'll take that off the bill." He already knew there was an extra margarita on the bill before we even had a chance to speak. What a great addition to the food options in Bastrop! The location is perfect when you don't want to travel into town or into Austin. I have been here twice, once when they first opened and a couple weeks later. Each time the service was great, the food came out on time, everything correct and tasted consistant to the other Chuy's that I have been at. The prices are fair and great to take a family. I did not experience any hiccups even though it was brand new. There are times when there is a wait. They are the shiny new penny in Bastop, its to be expected, I don't think that is a reason to rate them low. It will all smooth out as everyone tries the new places in Bastrop. First week of being open and it was extremely busy- we went on a Friday, also Memorial Day weekend, so it was to be expected. The place was clean and food took about 20 minutes once we ordered. The only problem was I asked for no tomatoes and all of my food came with tomatoes- I just ate it because it would take a lot longer to just send it back. It was bustling and busy and I think will be a nice addition to Bastrop. read more

I went to dinner with my family for my mother's birthday, we ordered, and sat there for an hour, waiting for our food. We asked our server about our food, and she had an attitude about it. She then said she would check on it and didn't come out for 15 minutes. When the food did come out it looked crusty, like it had been sitting under a heating lamp for a while. My grandmother had some guacamole, and it was brown when we got our food. The drinks were absolutely disgusting, the lemonade tased like plastic, and the soda tasted like straight syrup. We talked to the manager and she gave us a coupon. There was seven people, she gave us a coupon for four free meals. When my grandmother said that the coupon should have had seven free meals instead of four, the manager said "yeah, I know". We were very disappointed. We expected a lot better. read more

Tonight we had dinner at the new Chuy's in Bastrop. The wait of about 45 minutes was definitely long. We arrived around 6:15. The wait was worth it. The food was excellent. I had the combo plate of a chicken enchilada and stuffed poblano with chicken. The enchilada was very good, but the poblano was excellent. The best I've had in years!!! The margarita was also perfect. The service was also full of smiles and attentiveness. We will definitely be back just at an earlier or later time. Food was delicious, but our server Colton H was not attentive. 2/3 orders came out wrong and it was 15 minutes before we could even see our server to get waters for the table. I was with a party of 8 and was told an hour wait. After allowing numerous people to jump us because they parties of less than 8 was ridiculous, he could have held tables until there were enough to put together for our party. 1 1/2 hours later he attempts to put us in a circular table for 6 and we're large people.
