We came back for breakfast. It was very good. My wife had menudo and a barbacoa taco. She's very picky about both and was extremely pleased. And they offer both options every day/all day, which is great. She'll come back with her sister to enjoy it again. I had two breakfast tacos: one with egg, sausage and cheese and the other with migas. I really loved the migas. While the first taco was unremarkable, the migas was great. It was perfect, in fact. And it really celebrates their home made corn and flour tortillas. The only thing I didn't like was the salsa. It tasted like canned tomatoes and it was a wee bit salty and not very spicy. I really liked the migas, though. It was made with fresh jalapeño and had just the right amount of heat without needing any salsa. So I think this is one of those places that does some things very well... enough to build up a solid base of regulars, even though some of their other offerings were disappointing, like improperly reheated enchiladas. But if you know what to order, you can really enjoy this place. Oddly enough, they have chorizo on the menu, but don't list it among the available proteins on the breakfast taco menu, which I personally find very strange. Chorizo and egg is such an iconic breakfast taco offering. I'll bet they'd do it justice. read more

I went here for the Puffy tacos, and they were San Antonio style...which is perfect. The place is somewhat difficult to see, so plug it into your GPS. Parking was street, which was on when we went, but on weekends looks like it would be a challenge. Service was good The restaurant seemed clean. read more

IMO food not as good as it used to be. Ordered dish with chicken filling and it tasted like chicken was old and no spices or flavor put into it. No love put into dish. We went here after searching Yelp for "Puffy Tacos". Anita's didn't disappoint! The puffy tacos were large and filled with lots of meat. Service was on par. Had the enchilada and puffy taco dinner (exchanged regular taco for puffy)! Beans and rice were great. Chips and queso my favorite kind- yellow and thin chips. Large margaritas were tasty and not too sweet or sour. Plenty of tequila! We had 4 kids and they were great with them and had kid menus with Tex Mex and traditional kid grill cheese. A couple years ago, a friend introduced me to Anita's. Since then, I have really grown to love this restaurant. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, they have great service. I usually go for brunch, they serve breakfast all day, which is so awesome! My favorite dish is migas! Comes with a couple tortillas. The beans are NOT vegetarian, so if that is applicable to you, pass on the beans. The chips & salsa are good, the salsa is SPICY. Coffee is good for diner coffee. I'm glad it's not dark roast & glad it's not real watered down. It's pretty good. Tons of seating too, they have booths and tables available, good spot for big parties as they can put tables together. read more

I really like this place down on Bastrop Main Street. We ended up eating there when the place down the street was just too crowded, and we were very glad we did! I had the enchilada plate and it was really good. The bartender even made me a specialty piña colada since I cannot have citrus, and it was excellent. Super friendly servers- old style , exposed brick walls which is cool. I ordered the cheese enchilada plate - had to send it back as the cheese was not melted inside the actual enchilada. Other than that, my husband said his green chili enchilada could have been warmer but he can never wait so he was completely done by the time I got my food back.lol read more

I would say, if you want lunch and dinner.. Anitas is pretty good.... But if you are looking for a good breakfast place.... Keep looking.... Tacos were huge but lack favor and the flour tortillas were undercooked. But some of the best flautas I have ever had! Which is why is it so shocking the breakfast was so.... Not good! I had high hopes for Anita's, but they were dashed pretty quickly. The hostess & server were great. We had a nice table, waters & chips all around & ordered within about 5 minutes of being seated. Then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. 35 min after ordering, our food finally arrived. It wasn't overly crowded, and we all had easy things. Tacos, taco salad & a lite enchilada plate. One person's food was barely warm (not good with Queso), and my pastor meat had a big glob of fat in it. Drove from austin to meet family from college station. Yelp didn't give them any updates. This place is really good. Great margaritas. And our waitress Margarita was awesome as well. My friends and I were here on December 10, 2024 about 2:30 PM. It was the first time for all of us here. Evelyn was our server and she was excellent. She took very good care of us. She had suggestions and she was attentive, but not overly so. We had a light plate of enchilada an excellent cheeseburger fix just the way my friend wanted it and chili Riano plate. It was all quite delicious. I tried the coffee and it was delicious. It was decaf and it was a fresh pot. About the only negative would be that it was so dark at the table I had to drag out a flashlight to see the menu. There weren't a lot of people in there at that time, but it was a Tuesday and after the lunch rush. We would be willing to try it again, but we are talking about taking a lantern with us. read more

Customer service was at finest, Yanneli's attentiveness of service was outstanding. The food was delicious, the rice was perfect NOT dry super moist with flavor. The house salsa is perfect too, exact amount of spices and flavor. The ambiance was good, clean, good music, and good vibe. I will come back if I am in the neighborhood, I was in Bastrop for a funeral, maybe next time it will be a little different reason to visit this beautiful downtown. I usually go eat there every Sunday after church, at one point I was eating there 2x's a week. I will say that customer service has gone down dramatically in the last couple months since new people have joined the restaurant, I was appalled when this Sunday I couldn't get the crew to gather two tables for my party not because there was no tables available but because they didn't want to. Anita's is good Mexican basic food. Nothing fancy. Service was slow but nice waitresses. Child friendly. Good prices for what you get. Fajitas comes out on a regular white plate, not a sizzling iron skillet like all other Mexican restaurants so that is why they rated a 2 or a 2.5. A large Guac came out in a small white bowl a partially mashed up avocado with maybe little seasoning Seasoning is VERY mild across the board. read more

Enchilada Verde had excellent flavor. Got a couple tacos on the side and flavors were excellent. Service was okay, but never asked to refill my water when it ran out. My wife shared her water. It was a 4 star review but now since it's past 11:30 everyone is getting chips and salsa. Atmosphere and Cleanliness : Very clean and fresh looking inside and out...this is in the heart of Bastrop...great little town to visit... Service: Fast and friendly and well staffed... Food: Chips and salsa were tasty...like the thin chips....Queso was Good, but needed a bit more spice for our pallet...Wife had enchiladas one chicken...one beef...wife did ask for no beans....and it came with beans...not a big deal...rice was really good...I had the combo platter...One cheese enchilada, crispy taco, guac salad (scoop of guac on lettuce), extra SMALL queso and a carne guisada taco (BEST carne I have had yet)...and NO rice and beans...for $12 bucks...it would have been $3 extra for beans and rice...OK...The wife and I both agree this place is Top notch...great flavor on everything...but for the price, the portions were small.... Anita's is not what it used to be. Both the food and service have gone downhill drastically post COVID. The margaritas tasted like they were made from Gator Ade powder, the queso and salsa were okay but reminded me of something I'd buy off the lower shelf at the grocery store. Let me start by saying I hate giving bad reviews. I've just moved to the area and I had high hopes for this restaurant as I love Mexican food. The space itself is beautiful. They were doing a great job keeping things clean and safe in these strange times, and my waitress was fine. But starting with the salsa I knew that I was in trouble. Watery tomato sauce with zero spice and not much to even stick to a chip. This was not an inspired salsa. The chips as well we're just kind of industrial and cheap. I ordered the steak à la Mexicana which once it arrived looks promising. It was a lunch size portion with rice and beans that I thought would be tasty. But after a few bites I realize the only spice involved here was salt. By about a fourth of the way through my meal I was pretty much ready to stop eating. The tortillas that came out we're hot at first but quickly turned into hard cardboard. The best part of the meal might've been my ice tea which was fresh and plentiful. After tip this lunch cost me $20. Hardly worth it. I'd go elsewhere read more
