I had my very first Chuy's experience last night, and I am officially a fan. I was not expecting much because I've been to chain mexican and tex-mex places before, and they are usually pretty mediocre, but the food here was great. Since they just opened up, and there are a ton of people around here who are fans of Chuy's, there is a wait pretty much every night of the week, and at lunch time too, so be prepared for that. We put our names in with the hostess and were told it was about 55 minutes for a table for 2, which is a while, but not completely outrageous so we decided to wait. I saw some people I knew in the bar area and went over to say hello, and they told me that the bar top is full service and at the tables in the bar area you can get drinks and appetizers. I thought this was weird because usually it's the other way around, or full service at both. But I figured, what the hell, I'll keep an eye out for a spot at the bar to open up, and sure enough not 5 minutes later a couple got up from the bar because their table was ready, so we decided to sit and eat there rather than wait. Because we sat in the bar, I cannot speak for the service in the rest of the restaurant, because I have found that often times you can have a very different experience at the bar than you would in the dining area. The service in the bar was great. I was immediately asked what I wanted to drink and when my fiance sat down, he was too. We looked over the menu and put in a ordered for an appetizer. The bar tender did forget to give us our basket of chips, so my fiance went up to the chip and salsa bar and got us some. It was no big deal because we had to go there to get the salsa anyway. she took our food orders and the appetizer came, and it was delicious. Our food came out almost as soon as we were done with the appetizer, which I thought was great. Since they were so busy, I was expecting it to take longer. Our meals were phenomenal. I was very much pleasantly surprised. Everything had a good spice to it, which is unusual with a chain restaurant. My chicken was juicy and tender, and even their refried beans were awesome! They usually hold back on the spicey-ness for the general public since a lot of people can't handle spicy food, but apparently Chuy's is different. Also, the portions were huge. I didn't even come close to eating all my food. I was also pleased with how reasonable everything was priced. My fiance and I spent about 30 bucks on 2 drinks, and appetizer, and 2 entree's, and I had enough left over for lunch today. Not bad at all. All in all I was very pleased. I happen to know one of the managers of the restaurant, and we ran into him on our way out and he happened to tell me that the reason for the food being so good and fresh tasting is because they make everything fresh and in-house every day. He said they don't even use frozen meat which is very unusual. Fresh ingredients really do make a huge difference in the quality of the food, and this gave me all the more reason to go back. All-in-all, I would say this one is a win. Yeah, it might not be authentic mexican food, and yeah they are a chain, but it's still some of the best tex-mex I've ever had, and the service wasn't bad either. That's a combo that will keep me coming back for sure! read more

Food is usually always good (I love the chicken tortilla soup and my husband loves the chimi with boom boom sauce; tres leche is amazing and flan is alright most of the time)- the downside of this restaurant is the service- it is definitely hit or miss (especially if you sit outside). I have received my food luke warm and cold a few times, but they are good about fixing the problem. Service seems slow most of the time and I never have napkins! read more

Came here for a dinner. They are quite busy, as expected. However, they've come up with this plan to get your phone number to get seated. Don't like that because of privacy issues, but ok. Apparantly because it's so loud, I couldn't hear when the text message came to my phone. 10 minutes after the text message came in, I just happened to check my phone, and see that our table was ready. Of course no one asked around in the bar, so by the time I respond our table is gone. WORST IDEA EVER !!!! Give me the buzzer back... read more

Fun atmosphere, yummy margaritas (strawberry mango is where it is at), and the bar waitress was super nice! They also have really good guacamole dip stuff with your chips! Average Mexican food but I had fun :) read more

Not bad for Tex-Mex but not great either. I'm more of a Lupe Tortilla fan but this is okay. They really should tell everyone that their red sauce has beef in it. Very noisy place, hated the atmosphere!! It gave me anxiety. I won't be back. The food was not worth the wait. Nothing special here!

For a chain restaurant, I've usually had a good experience here. The jalapeno ranch dip is DANK. They also have a decent happy hour (4-7pm weekdays). Sometimes the wait can be crazy (and it can also be on weird nights -- why is Wednesday poppin' off the chain??) But the waitstaff is friendly. Downside: Unless you sit outside on the porch, you leave smelling like Chuy's. read more

I always order the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom substituted with steak meat whenever I come to Chuy's. The Boom Boom sauce has such a great kick and a hint of spice that it hits the spot. Also, another addicting thing about Chuy's that always makes me come back is their creamy ranch sauce they serve with the chips! I also order the Steak Burrito from time to time if I am in the mood to pig out. Also, you can substitute the rice and beans for some fries too. From my many experiences with Chuy's, I have never been disappointed with the food and service. Must try if you want to try some Mexican food you can never go wrong with. read more

If you want a place that will have something for everyone, this is it! From fajitas to enchiladas for the adults and hamburgers and chicken strips for the kids, it's a great dining experience for all! The food is pretty good, but what made our experience great was great customer service from our waiter Andres. We were a party of 18 and not only did he get all the orders correct and served promptly, he kept all our drinks filled and fresh throughout the meal! Then the real test... divide the tickets correctly! This was done expertly and we were able to leave on time for our next event. I subtracted one star only because the kitchen forgot my salad. Got here at about 1:15 and were seated right away which we liked. But then it took about 5 minutes for our waiter, Brian, to greet us and then another 5 minutes for our drink and food order. We ordered our food when we ordered our drinks. Now it's 2pm and we still haven't gotten our food. The waiter is fine but not very attentive. Hopefully the food will make up for it, but overall my experience has not been anything I'll come back for. read more

Took the family and it was a fun atmosphere. All the food was really good. I like spicy food, but everything seemed extra spicy. This includes the table salsa thay cam with chips. Still good. The burrito was really good. Flour tortilla with fajita chicken and beans. read more

We got the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom plate and it was pretty good. The boom boom sauce is good if you like a lil spice. The Big As Yo Face Burrito was good also. We chose to put quest sauce on it, and that too had a lil of a bite to it. The kids taco look like homemade shells bad thing is you can't bend it without them breaking to eat them. They are too wide to fit in a kid's mouth. All in all, not bad. Oh and if you don't know what a sauce tastes like, they will bring you a sample of it. read more

Love the atmosphere and love the waitstaff!! Food is typical Tex-mex. Nothing to write home about, Lol. Not bad just not worth 5 stars. But I do want to mention the waiters again. I've been here several times so I've had different waiters but they each seem to be so cheerful and helpful. And each time the place was packed so they were hustling. But they will never let your ice tea get low or the chips run out. And always so friendly, makes for a pleasant meal. I love going here. read more

Why go anywhere else in College Station for Tex-Mex? We sat out on shaded deck, fans and funky colored lights. I had custom enchiladas with hatch chili sauce. It was great. My wife and daughter had fajitas for two and it was a ton to eat and delicious. Service was great with unlimited fresh chips. Music wasn't too loud. No rush. Server checked-in many times to see if we needed anything. read more

Good drinks, speedy service, great food. So many choices to mix and match, tons of sauce choices. Loud but quiet enough to hear each other. You can get lost in the decor. Overall Chuy's is a good family and/or date place. read more

For starters my one star should be a half star AT LEAST, but it's the lowest I could go . We had a 40 min wait, but it was understandable because the place was flooded with people, standing both inside and outside waiting for tables. Once seated I realized why the wait was so long. There were probably 5 waiters serving the entire restaurants. It took us some 15 mins to get chips and drinks and then over and hour to receive anything edible beyond chips. I order queso and it came with weird meat chunks in it and honestly tasted like left over eggs from last week. I then had the chance, some 2O mins later, to order a burrito. I ordered a simple, and easily make able food item, a bean and cheese burrito with added sour cream and tomatoes. That's FOUR ingredients! I received a burrito containing beans and chicken, ummmmm no thank you, I didn't even want meat as I told the waiter. So then I received another burrito, I cut into the tortilla flesh and out poured ground beef! I shoved it aside and waited in my anger. Then the waiter came by and said that the burrito I had just cut into belonged to one of our other people at the table. So I had cut into 2 other peoples burritos and as expected my was also cut into when it got to me. I also ordered flan and it was more tasteless than water, dirt probably has more flavor. The entire meal was a complete disaster and I will NOT be going back. With the combined nasty queso, several wrong burritos, my non edible flan and a wait quite long I'd say this was the worst experience with this chain. read more

Fajitas were excellent , decent amount of fixings. The decor looks rather prefab compared to the original in Austin but that's to be expected. The salsa was SUPERB and the chips were nice and warm. Patron Perfect Margarita reported to be perfect. read more

Chuy's is life. For the most part, great service. Chips basket is usually always full. They could be better about the salsa being refilled. Sometimes it can take a while to get a table, but that is just because it's a college town and there's only so many two people tables. Gotta love that creamy jalapeño. read more

Overrated place. First of all, their tortilla chips were not very crispy. The salsa they provided was valid. As for the cheese and bean burrito, it was just a big mass of chalky and rancid material. The service was solid, but you are better off eating at On the Border or Fuego's. read more
