The food has never been particularly amazing here BUT, I came here after a particularly bad experience in downtown Bryan at Casa Rodriguez. We had a much shorter wait here. While we did face some bad service by a waiter the manager came by to check on us and make sure we were filled up on chips and dip. Much more positive experience here. I went in when it was not busy to order chips and salsa to go. The hostess promptly alerted "him" in the back about my desire to place an order. I waited five minutes and asked again. She went in the back and told "him" again. I waited for five to ten more minutes again and was never acknowledged. Bad customer service is a pet peeve of mine. I'll be spending my money elsewhere. Chuy's always seems to deliver a great experience. Went in the afternoon with the family and sat in the bar area. The servers were working very hard and did a great job of delivering awesome service. Worst experience ever! Dalton was a great waiter! He was super busy and the manager , JEN, frequently walked through his area and Definitely noticed that he was busy but she just kept walking by and offered no help at all to him. Our silverware was dirty and we asked for another set of silverware the second set of silverware was dirty so we asked for a third set and it was also dirty. We asked for the manager, Jen and she approached my sister in a very confrontational manner without even introducing herself. I asked her her name, she said it was Jen and we explained to her what happened with the dirty silverware. She was very un-interested! Offered no apology at all, and just walked away! At this point our food was on the table and we had no silverware and we decided that it was time for us to leave. We did tip our waiter very well. Also Kendall was amazing behind the bar! I am from College Station but live in Austin. There are certain truths. Freebids was once good before expanding. This is home of the original. Same goes for Chuy's in Austin. Coming here it became they typical chain restaurant. That is to be expected. Originality lost etc. The co-eds working there don't help my memories of the original either. But it is BCS so I took it with a grain of salt. What I did not like was being asked if I needed anything every 10 mins. I felt rushed as if she wanted me out. I asked for my food to go. She said that if I want my jalapeno ranch sauce to go that she must charge me for an app. What?? I have never in any place been told that if I took my chips with me that I would be charged. And this again is on top of my already poor service (I had to walk to find someone to ask for a refill 3 times). So I felt as if she was pushing me out. For the first time ever, I did not leave a tip. What astonished me was after all of that, the waitress literally came outside and yelled my name across the parking lot. She then said she was sorry for not treating me right. I was humiliated. I suddenly felt guilty for not tipping her though she did nothing to deserve a tip. Instead, she made a scene in front of my company. I never saw her at my table yet she had the energy to chase me outside and yell. I have never had an experience like that anywhere, I cannot recommend this Chuys based on the snobbish students they hire. read more

I love this place.... The happy hour is phenomenal! Margaritas are less than 4 bucks with FREE NACHOS from the nacho car that includes beef, queso, chips, salsa and beans! Sooooo our table was uneven and we asked to move. The waiter told we couldn't move to an empty table because it was not in his section. Then, I ordered "custom enchiladas" with sour cream chicken. The plate comes out with tomatillo sauce and the waiter said it has sour cream in it. WTH? Then the manager thought he was doing us a favor by comping the meal. Chuys, Chuys, I love their chicka boom boom enchiladas and their chimichangas. I always get their hatch green sauce on whatever I get which is awesome. The atmosphere is very loud and noisy but its great for going out with friends and having a good time . If you don't like the noise or clutter then just order take out and you will get chips and salsa with your order. It is what it is ,Tex-Mex food, not Mexican. A plus is their homemade corn tortillas which you can see being made.A con would be that their chips are too thin. read more

We have had a lot of Mexican food in our lives but what we experienced today at Chuy's left a lot to be desired. We ate there because someone told us that it was new to College Station and we had eaten at a Chuy's in Austin and enjoyed it there. The service was fine but the food was not up to par from what we consider to be good Mexican food. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer and someone in the kitchen put way too much salt in it. It was so salty that it was not enjoyable to eat. I ordered a plate that had a taco, chalupa, and enchilada and the first two were pretty good but the enchilada was covered with this thick gravy that was really not too tasty. The beans and rice was fairly inedible and indeed they were not eaten. My wife had fish tacos and they were good, she said, except the fish was pretty greasy. She could not eat her beans and rice also due to the rice being so spicy that she could not eat it. I cannot remember our meal in Austin at the Chuy's being of the same quality as at the College Station location. Perhaps college students do not expect as much from restaurants as others but I think if this location does not improve its food it will not make it in a city with as much competition as is in College Station. read more

We stopped for lunch today at our favorite Mexican food restaurant chain...Chuy's! The College Station restaurant didn't disappoint. The server was very friendly and attentive. I had to ask about the spiciness of the ingredients of the menu item I was thinking of ordering, the spinach chicken enchiladas. The server told me that the sauce was very hot, but they could use the Deluxe Tomatillo Sauce instead. He apologized and told me that it wouldn't be considered the special if that change was made. No need to apologize for that! I was happy that they were able to accommodate my sensitive palate. Every item we ordered arrived hot and fresh. This is not surprising when it comes to Chuy's. I wish every other restaurant had the same high standards. I'm surprised that the Chuy's in College Station only had 3 1/2 stars. I have no problem giving them 5 stars. The next time we pass through this part of Texas, we'll know where to stop for excellent Mexican food, friendly and competent servers and cooks, as well as spotless restroom facilities. My husband and I stopped at Chuy's, College Station for lunch today. We chose the Friday special, chicken enchiladas. We both enjoy the food at Chuy's, but some of the sauces are too hot for me. Our waiter, Khaden, was very personable and accommodating. I was able to change the green chili pepper sauce to mild queso, and the beans and rice to a side salad. He also made sure we always had tea and chips and dip. What a wonderful lunch! Kudos to Chuy's for great food and also to Khaden for great service! read more

I can always count on Chuy's for an interesting experience. I love the various salsas and sauces. The reverence given to Elvis is enough to boost star quality! But the eclectic decorations and hiring practices are to be admired. I enjoyed the combination plates as usual. This Chuy's has a distinct advantage. It is located in College Station or rather "Aggieland". Yes, the special $10 t-shirt sales on Saturdays is especially exciting. You can buy any of the t-shirts worn by their staff. I was very please with my first visit. The food was delish. I ordered the appetizer plate and everything was fresh! I loved that our waiter Jonathan was very knowledgeable of the menu. Cheap ingredients, below average Tex-Mex food, busy crowded atmosphere. I am suprised how popular this place is when there are so many other Mexican restaurants near it. I've never been to the original in Austin but this is not good Mexican food. I don't get the runny ranch chip dip they give everybody and the salsa is bad. The ingredients are of poor quality. I reminded me of something you might get at summer camp as a kid. I ate it because I was hungry and won't go back until one of my white friends from Austin wants to go there because it reminds them of college. Its the Natural Light of Mexican food. I love Tex-Mex, and Chuy's never disappoints me (unless you get a salad, but in hindsight, why did I order a salad at a Tex-Mex place?). I love the Chuychanga with deluxe tomatillo sauce, and they also have the best fish tacos (fried shrimp, ftw). But I mostly come to Chuy's for happy hour, which is 4-7 on weekdays. Awesome happy hour margaritas that don't skimp on the tequila just because they're cheaper, plus you could make a meal out of the free chips and taco meat, refried beans, queso, and salsa that you can help yourself to. I have to say this is one of our favorite places to go. We have never had a bad meal nor have we had a bad service experience. The staff is super friendly too! If they mess up your meal (put sauce on when you didn't ask for any) then they comp it and give you exactly what you asked for. I'm a huge fan of their salsa and ranch jalapeno dip! We've tried a lot on their menu and our favorite include Chili Rellenos and their fajitas! Please don't let others discourage you from this place. The only draw back, it gets very loud in there so it's hard to have conversation with fellow diners. If it weren't for this, they'd definitely get 5 stars from us! read more

Staff is always great! Therefore they get 1 star. Chips and dips are good if that's all you want to eat. Been there 4 or 5 times for work lunches. Today I had the delux quesadilla because all of my other orders in the past have disappointed to put it lightly. It was the best meal I've had there to date!
