It was a bit of a rocky start, but they finished well and we had a pretty good experience. We were seated as we came in but then no server! It was a good 10 minutes before the hostess walked by and I was able to ask her where our server was. She responded quickly and we had a server a few minutes later. As a non alcohol drinker I was happy to see a few mocktails but would like to have seen at least a couple of beer options as well. I settled for ice tea as my options were limited. As we looked around the place it was really interesting to see the artwork and decorative interior, and the whole place had a very comfortable atmosphere. When the food arrived, pretty fast I might say, it was delicious! I enjoyed our experience and will be sharing it with others. Great Tex-Mex food! It was very busy and it took a little while for our server to get to us, but once he did, he was on it! It is a very casual eclectic Hispanic style ambiance. It was comfortable and relaxing despite how busy it was. The food came out fast and hot. I had the Baja grilled shrimp tacos that came with Spanish rice and refried beans. This place is a huge disappointment. We've gotten takeout several times and dined in. They've screwed up our takeout order more times than we can count and even charged us for meals we never ordered or were in the bag. We know to check the receipt and tonight was the straw that broke the camel's back. They charged us for a meal we didn't order, screwed up two kids meals and were 20 mins longer than they said it would be and we sat and waited a long time on them to bring it out. Luckily, my husband caught the overcharge and checked the food. They did not correct the meals.... Rather told him they'd refund or give a voucher for another meal. The manager was working with him when he made her aware. Fast forward and he gets home- the food he waited forever on is stone cold. One of the kids meals literally had a staple in it on the burrito in the sauce! So glad we caught it looking before a child ate it. My husband called the same manager and let her know. The response was "oh a staple I'll let the kitchen staff know to be careful." That's it! Could've cut our throat or mouth. We won't give this location business again. It's overpriced for the junk they serve. Update: we received a comped dinner for 4 and took a couple with us to dinner last night at this location. It was absolutely awful and we will never give this location our business again. We had a terrible server. He said he'd been there 3 days. Waiting tables is definitely not his calling in life. We waited an eternity to even have him appear at the table. He took our order then forgot to put it in and then came back because he forgot what we even ordered. He didn't refill drinks or bring things after they were ordered and we reminded and asked multiple times. Mind you, the restaurant was super empty so no reason to wait so long. I ordered margarita with an extra shot and it clearly didn't have the extra shot added and we got charged for it. Didn't bring enough salsa for the table. The order of guac had mostly lettuce in the bowl which is insane for over $8. The food finally came out and he hadn't even listened after we corrected him several times ordering and my dinner wasn't even close to what I ordered. He went and put it in then didn't reemerge until after the other 4 people at the table we almost done eating and was full of excuses and I was like "this is all kind of insane" and he never even got a manager or anything. We ordered a tres leches for the table. It came out and was dry cake sitting on whip cream on the plate. It had never been soaked or even drizzled on top. We've never had Chuy's serve it like that. All in all, this location needs serious attention and training from corporate and a spotlight on the quality control and service. read more

I'm from Austin so I'm very familiar with Chuy's. I'm in Harker Heights caring for my mom and was excited to see a Chuy's location next door to the Seton hospital. Today I ordered a tortilla soup to-go. I walked next door to pick it up. First, I walked all the way in the front to be told to-go order pick up is on the side. Some signage would be nice. I'm not sure how new or old this location is. Second, I received no spoon with my soup. I missed the "utensils won't be added unless you ask" so ASK!! or add to your mobile order in the cart section. The soup was very bland and sad, no flavor at all. It was a nice surprise to receive a good amount of chips, creamy jalapeño sauce and salsa fresca! I love those sauces!! read more

Quick service at the bar on a Friday night at 6pm, place was busy but was able to sit at the bar and fast service for both food and drinks . That white cream sauce , OH DEAR lord it's amazing . The drinks are kinda highly priced for pre mixed margaritas , I had a mango with tajin on the rim, it was just "meh" for what it was. Didn't taste much mango and for 12 bucks ill pass next time . The chips and white sauce and salsa were great , the sampler platter was delicious. Beans and rice were perfect , the taquito was a bit dry and bland but dip that bad boy in the white sauce and you got yourself deliciousness . I recently visited Chuy's again on 29 November 2025 since my first initial visit on 13 September 2023. Me and 1 guest were at table 43 seated by a helpful, generous, polite young man that bust the tables. My food experience in 2-years haven't been anything to brag about, like, the Round Rock location. The menu options aren't the same as the Chuy's at Round Rock which is disappointing. I had an issue with hair on my plate underneath my taco. I made the incident aware to the waitress Yoshii who then brought the Manager Alex to the table. Alex offered to fix the incident by offering free dessert or another taco plate to go. Alex stated, "This is what I can do for you. I apologize about the hair on your plate." I believe the wait staff should know how to pronounce the food items on the menu. Anyone handling or preparing food should wear hair nets. read more

The waiter was OK, but we found a piece of long hair in our queso and beef dip. The manager was called over and all she did was offer a replacement dip from the same batch. We did not see them throw away any food, and I also noticed that the cooks that were in the back only had on hats, but no one had on a hairnet and all of them had pretty long hair. Stopped in at Chuy's in Harker Heights for a late lunch today. I ordered the Chicken Flautas and unsweetened ice tea. The service was surprisingly fast. The flautas were delicious and crunchy. The sides of mexican rice and refried beans were seasoned to perfection. The sour cream and guac were great for dipping the flautas into. The ice tea actually tasted like tea and not colored water. Chris was everything a server should be. He always knew just when to appear and ask if I needed anything else without being annoying. The ambiance was casual with no loud music. Both visits, the atmosphere was great, the service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. We didn't have to wait long for a table either. Highly pleasantly surprised about the new Chuy's location in HH! I've been to other locations and honestly they were just "ok". Today was a totally different story. Despite being super busy because it's a brand new location, everything was on point. I was very impressed with the management! I saw them interacting with customers, lending a helping hand with all duties with their staff. I could really tell they've really put a lot of care into this being successful by fostering a friendly environment based on good service and great food. The salsa Fresca which we can never get enough of was bland with under ripe tomatoes and no seasoning or flavor at all. Well, this was our second visit to this Chuy's. I gave them a break when they first opened since everyone was new and getting adjusted. Well this trip was even worse. Service was good, but not at the level you get at other location's. We arrived at 5 and waited until 6 ( table of 5) to get our food. Server did check back with us a couple of times to let us know that she had "escalated" our order. One of the plates was likely sitting out for a while as it was dry and cold. There won't be a third visit to this location. There are a lot of small Mexican establishments all around HH, Belton or Temple that want your business and take the extra step to make sure your food/ambiance is top notch. This location will get enough business just because it's Chuy's. It's a shame it's not top notch. read more

But today....eh. I walked out disappointed and seeing Chuy's as just another chain Mexican place. And honestly, that makes me kinda sad. When we walked in the young lady seemed...bothered to see us. Barely looked up when she said there was open seating. Then our waiter just missed...everything. Didn't hear me say I wanted the same drink as my friend. His came, mine didn't. Didn't hear me say I'd like all green chile rice (no beans) with my Chuychanga. I got regular rice and beans. Didn't hear my friend say he wanted a crispy taco. He got a soft taco. When I brought it up, he offered to bring him a crispy taco shell. It just was so very so-so. Maybe just bad and inaI might try again later, but not with the 30 minute drive to get here. Whatever happens in that kitchen is akin to binding satanic hellfire into their foods, only to be released later when most inconvenient. If you have a sliver of care for your personal well-being, move out of Harker Heights to get as far away from this place as possible. We have dined at this location a handful of times and the food is delicious but the service is super inconsistent. Surprisingly the best service we received here was opening weekend. The prices are affordable for Tex-Mex and the portions are very large; you would easily split a meal or have enough for leftovers. It is not the best Chuy's location I have been to but I am just happy to have creamy jalapeño and chips in my area so I can get a fix whenever. read more
