My mother and I visited Taqueria for the first time, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing, not because of the food, but because of the lack of professionalism, training, and customer service. Our server was friendly but clearly inexperienced and unfamiliar with the menu. She did not know the house tequila, could not recommend the restaurant's most popular entrée, and was not old enough to serve alcoholic beverages. To her credit, she tried to get answers by asking the bartender. When I asked about the restaurant's top-selling entrée, the server did not know. The bartender, who also appeared to be the manager, recommended the mini tacos, which I ordered along with steak fajitas. The food took quite a while to arrive despite the restaurant being relatively slow, and my second margarita was also significantly delayed. The real issue occurred when I received the check. My first margarita was priced under $6, while my second margarita, which was essentially the same drink, was charged at nearly double the price. When I asked about the difference, I was told the first drink was during Happy Hour and the second was not. That explanation made sense, and I had no issue with it. However, I was also charged for extra tortillas. The server had never informed me there would be an additional charge. When I politely asked about it, the bartender/manager became defensive and argumentative. He repeatedly stated that I should have known extra items were not free. I explained that I had looked at the menu and did not see a tortilla charge listed anywhere and asked him to show me where the charge was disclosed. He searched the menu himself but could not find a listed price. At that point, the server apologized and admitted she should have informed me of the additional charge. Instead of using the situation as a teaching moment, the bartender/manager waved off her apology and, in front of both me and the server, stated, "He's just trying to get something for nothing." That comment was insulting, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The issue was never about the $2 charge. It was about transparency, communication, and customer service. As someone who works in the Food & Beverage industry, I viewed it as a simple opportunity to explain the charge, acknowledge the communication breakdown, and coach a young employee. Instead, I was treated as if I were trying to scam the restaurant over two dollars. As an African-American customer, hearing a manager make a statement that I was "trying to get something for nothing" while dismissing a legitimate concern felt particularly offensive and carried implications that made the interaction even more troubling. Whether intentional or not, the comment reflected a lack of respect and professionalism that no guest should experience. The server was polite and appeared willing to learn. My frustration is not with her. It is with a manager who chose confrontation over customer service, disrespect over resolution, and criticism over coaching. Restaurants earn their reputation through word of mouth, and unfortunately this experience left me feeling unwelcome, disrespected, and highly unlikely to ever return. read more

This has been our "go to" spot for the last four years. The food was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was that of a busy neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Starting about 4 months ago the food quality decreased significantly. It's like they decided to change from quality ingredients to the cheapest ingredients they could find. I came to this place with a group of friends. As soon as I sat down at a table I noticed the bartender staring at me with the ugliest mug. I ordered a Cadillac margarita and when my drink came without a float I asked my waiter for it. The bartender then rolled his eyes and yelled across the dinning room "what is it that I wanted?" Deceptive and Unsafe for Vegetarians We asked multiple times if the enchilada chili sauce or beans had meat -- the waiter said no. The enchiladas came with meat gravy, and then the beans in the "meat-free" taco salad were cooked in pork lard. My husband, a vegetarian, ended up sick. I would recommend their beef soup for it's cooked using all natural ingredient's and I appreciate that the beef is not under cooked or overcooked. It is also a very filling meal. This is the third time I have ordered chicken quesadillas from this place and three times the guacamole has been served spoiled, tastes like old and moldy avocado, disgusting. The quesadilla had little to no chicken, it was basically packed with cheese and I bet not even 2oz. of chicken in them. We had the most delicious food and outstanding service from Vanessa. We will ask for her next time we go in. She was so friendly and bubbly.

Let me start by saying that this place is so cute. The tables and booths as well as the chairs are individually designed. The waitresses were very friendly and well as very helpful when it came to recommendations. We ordered margaritas and the steak and chicken nachos. Chefs kiss! Overall, realistically like 3 or 4 stars if just based off the food. When we first walked in all the workers were just in a circle and it was pretty off putting. They're all pretty young so with those combined I had pretty low expectations for service but Jacob proved me wrong pretty quick. He was very sweet and very attentive! Food is pretty mid BUT Jacob was fantastic. He alone gets 10 stars for sure!! Nothing has very much spice or flavor but it was decent. These folks have been our go to for years! We have raved about them and taken countless folks there. Unfortunately, they really disappointed us the last time we got food from them. We had submitted an order over the phone. It is all prepared and you pay at the drive thru when you get there...extra if you dont have cash. We got home with our food...which is about 15 minutes away and we were missing one whole meal. I didnt get to eat a meal that night. I called them and let them know. They said they would give us credit for the meal. They didn't!! They charged the amount for the meals plus the one they didn't give us plus the extra fee for the credit card charge. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Killeen, HH, Cove, Temple areas but the service had declined dramatically. The waitresses lack enthusiasm to treat customers right and the bus boy lays across the table sleeping until he's told to get up and clean the tables. The waiters are much better. Last time I ordered food at the Taqueria Mexico, I had to return the plate because it was cold in the middle of the meat. The waiter apologized. It was taken back to the kitchen. It came back out steaming hot, and we were content with the service we received, the food was nothing exceptional, but it was OK. tonight we went back and one order was sour cream enchiladas. And the order was brought to the table, my husband brought up the question if the order was supposed to consist of three enchiladas, because that's what it states in the menu and that was the reason why he ordered it. The lady went in the kitchen and checked and came out with a remark that all enchiladas are only two. My husband then asked, but in the menu it states three and she said no it's only supposed to be two. There was no fixing the problem either you fix the menu or you bring out a third enchilada. and my food was not great at all. The beans were runny. The rice was not warm and needless to say, we will not return. Our waiter was very friendly and I wish he would work in a different place where he could maybe make some tips, because we were the only people in the restaurant eating. It's hard to recommend this place. Just see the other reviews. The biggest complaint, which I agree, is that the price to quality ratio is unjust. For example: Most recently I ordered this quesabirria (and it costed $19 (with tax). Now if the taste quality was good I don't mind paying that much. But this was taco was so bland, I could not justify the price. It wasn't a "bad" meal, but it wasn't a $19 meal! Neither full nor satisfied my taste buds. The very first time I came here, I really enjoyed it. Being hopeful, I came back 2-3 more times, but each time it seems like the quality went down while the price went up. The place can get kind of cramped and sometimes the service is lacking too. I love Mexican food so I hope they can turn around and make some changes. Sometimes we order the chicken fajita tacos we get ground chicken and sometimes we get sliced chicken breast. Flavors haven't been consistent as well. This used to be one of my favorite places. Not anymore! It has risen to the top of my list as one of the worst restaurants in Bell County. I had the Carne Asada. It had rice mush - didn't even look like rice - with a lot of comino. It was burned and had a burnt flavor to top it all. The Carne Asada plate was supposed to come with scallions. No scallions. Instead, it was served with a thick blanket of cactus, tomatoes, and onions. The meat was ok. The little tomato/lettuce salad had overly ripened tasteless tomatoes. I ordered borracho beans. It came with refried. The Chile toreadores were good. That's the only thing that was good. The margarita was so so (who puts a cherry and orange or pineapple juice in their margarita?) and the Queso flameado had too much chorizo and was too oily. It was barely edible.
