This is our favorite restaurant in Lexington. We go almost every week! Chuy's margaritas are hands down my favorite margaritas from any restaurant. Period. They'll even bring you samples if you want to try different kinds! The second thing you'll learn is that you can order Boom Boom sauce on just about everything and will want to as soon as you taste it. And I can't post a review without mentioning their creamy jalapeño sauce. This stuff is amazing. If I could order it in gallon form I would. I should say that it's not for everyone. My fiancé prefers to dip her chips in their amazing queso, however I should warn that it does cost extra. The last thing is the service. I have never had a bad experience at Chuy's. Even when they're packed. The staff is always friendly and fast and very down to earth. We're even having our rehearsal dinner for our wedding there!! We used to love this place and visited weekly for months. The free nacho bar on weeknights was a nice benefit. We noticed many of the familiar faces were leaving, and service quality dropped. The final straw for us was raw chicken. We stopped one Saturday evening and ordered the fajitas for two, combo chicken and steak. After an excessively long wait our food finally arrived. I quickly made a steak fajita. Luckily my wife stopped before I took a bite. The chicken was barely cooked on the outside, and it was completely raw in the middle. Did they use the same knife to cut the chicken, steak and veggies? Not a risk I was willing to take. We didn't have any more time to invest in our dinner that evening, so we told the server to just take it back. He sent the manager over who made like she was doing us a huge favor by not charging us for the contaminated food we didn't eat. A very mixed review, I liked it and the wife did not. First the chips are light and thinner than most, sauce is hotter. I liked, wife did not. The sauces for the burritos were listed in my opinion correctly, wife disagreed. Friday night was raucous and fun, wife thought the noise was deafening. I've heard that chuys was such a good place to eat. So I tried it and honestly did not impress me as much as i was hoping. I'm not a fan of there Boom Boom sauce and it was doused on the meal I ordered. I'll definitely give it another shot and not get the Boom Boom sauce on my food! The best chips and salsa around! The chips are thin, salty and fresh! The jalapeño ranch salsa is absolutely delicious, especially with the chips. All of their many salsas are made fresh. I was very disappointed with this place. I have been there before, but it is not a restaurant I frequent. We were led to a table that had a very large spill on the seats and under the table. I asked if it could be cleaned up before we sat. The girl got a broom, shoved the water around a bit, did not wipe the seats at all. I had to clean my seat. Went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The floor was also very wet so wet people were slipping. The food was mediocre at best. Honestly, Taco Bell has more flavor than the bean and cheese burrito I got. This was a pretty interesting Mexican restaurant if would say so myself. Some of the pictures on the wall will probably scare your kids, a heads up on that. Service here was really good, the guy gave suggestions on food, kept up with their drinks and was polite the entire time. I am getting the sampler dish just to take a bite of each dish and see what it taste like. I will say it was pretty good. This review is more of a love note to our waitress Dorothy then it is to the restaurant chilies. Sure the food is pretty good at a reasonable price. The strawberry margaritas are mind blowing and I could've ordered five more! However, the star has to be Dorothy. We were a group of 20+ and we were immediately seated and waited on by Dorothy. She was quick, thorough, and funny! She didn't bat an eye when it came to our large Multi generational group including several babies. At the end, she gave all the kids in our group free ice cream and even gave our lactose intolerant kid some cut up strawberries for dessert. Throughout the meal she was so attentive, so kind, kept a good humor, and never seemed impatient or upset by our large group. Chuy's had really great service! The chips and salsa were amazing as well as the queso. My kids really enjoyed their meals. I split the Elvis Presley combo with my son and it was quite tasty. Granted we arrived right before they closed on a Sunday night but they were happy to take our money. I get that given the current covid situation. I tipped on our take out order (always do). Waited about 15-20 min fir the order. When we got back to our hotel the chicken fajitas were cold. Cold Chicken served on a bed of RAW onions and peppers! Chicken was flavorless. Cheap. That's one good thing about it. I thought it was horrible, dry, bland food. I didn't see any seafood or steak on the menu. More like "Lunch Food". I have been a customer for 6 years and today was the worst service I have experienced. Bad and slow service. Order was wrong after I asked server to write it down and instead of 2 dishes they brought one dish split for two people. And we modified a meat dish fro be vegetarian and they charged me full price for a meat version plus extra charges for the veggie substitutes. I have never been charged in 3 years since ordering this! Very disappointed in today's service and how they dealt with the issues. Things to know: The Creamy Jalapeno Dip is amazing. The Happy Hour Nacho Buffet is FREE and 4-7. Macaroni & Cheese is available but NOT on the menu. The wait staff has been amazing every time I've been there. The food is actually prototype Mexican-AMERICAN. Nothing that they say is HOT is all that hot in reality. (Some people cant handle the heat but I really can.) Personally I love the atmosphere. To be honest it's not too different from Don Pablos, which is the original Mexican restaurant which was the same building. I noticed one review which referred to it as Tacky but I suppose there is a fine line between that and Trendy. I say trendy. The dog pictures in the space by the bar are a wonderful touch. Not just paintings but actual photos as well. Meanwhile the portions are indeed big enough for the average person. I say that knowing I once ordered 2 entrees during one visit. Oy Vey! The pear margarita is the only liquor that I've "enjoyed" from the place but good news is, its cheaper during happy hour ($5.25) so who cares, I'll stick with it. The service is slow and not attentive, we had to ask the manager floating around for refills on drinks and notify him that the nacho car (Fully-Loaded Nacho Car - FREE m-f 4-7) was empty and had been for over 20 minutes... yes it's free but if you advertise it is should be maintained, and not smart responses from staff like "I know,jeez" and "they know" or my favorite "it's not my job".... these are the kinds of things that make me not like a place, but the other issue is we ordered four different dishes and they all tasted the same. Chuy's is onto something. It's a combination of atmosphere and food quality. They've got a rhythm that's hard to pin down and also very well-handled. A Mexican ("tex-mex," apparently -- I'm not sure of the defining factors) joint that borrows a kind of Elvis aesthetic... somehow it works, and it works great. Definitely not authentic Mexican food. I'd say it's more Americanized takes on Mexican dishes. My food wasn't popping with flavor, everything seemed to have the frozen taste. I ordered chicken cheese nachos (panchos) and the chicken looked like it was perfectly cut like the stuff you purchase in the store. The chicken was placed on top of nacho chips with white and yellow cheese on top. It was good never less but it wasn't spectacular. The chicken was bland, had no flavor at all. As far as the atmosphere goes, it's pretty killer. I enjoyed the look of inside as well as the out. The staff was nice and helpful. I did also try a bite of the enchiladas, and they were definitely Americanized as well. Still the chicken had no seasoning. Tasted like regular grilled chicken. I also tried the queso dip and it was probably the best thing I had there. Had good flavor and taste and was probably closer to a traditional Mexican dish than anything else. The salsa was mediocre and was very chunky with like soupyness at the bottom. Tasted fresh but it just didn't look fresh. It lacked color and taste. All in all this place is mediocre. Would I recommend? No. You could get better food for a cheaper price anywhere else. I would say give it a shot because It is worth the experience once (for the atmosphere) but only if you have the money to go. read more

I think it goes without saying this place is well liked based off of the joy and excitement radiating from the building upon our approach. We visited on a Friday evening and were told the wait for a table of 2 would be thirty minutes. However, we were seated much sooner. Chips are amazing, very thin and crisp, the jalapeno dip was different in a good way. The salsa will light you on fire!... this is a good thing BTW. We both ordered bigger than yo head burritos. Mine a bean and cheese, the hubs went for the ground sirloin. We were both very pleased with our meals. I do plan to go for a spicier sauce next time. The Ranchero was good but I like a little kick.
