Used to really love Chuys to-go but they've started really cheating you with the portions and prices. Paid 70 for fajitas for two, queso, and guacamole. The fajitas were an okay size I guess but jeeze the queso and guacamole came in these tiny containers and were 10 dollars each. I love chuys! I am from California and never had TexMex and let me tell you this place does not disappoint! For drinks we had bottomless Shirley temples and blue Powerade which are two drinks most sit downs don't have, they gave us chips and they were next level good they have this creamy jalapeño sause that is better than anything you have ever dipped a chip into. I ordered the Elvis memorial and while large enough to be bagged up for lunch the next day and perhaps dinner it was next level good, everything was so fresh! However 4 tables who came in after us got food before us, then when our food was delivered the girl who was not our server, said Becareful the plates are hot...I touch my beans and rice...freaking cold. Excited this restaurant opened recently in San Marvelous! Our new Tex Mex favorite! Wait time can be longer than normal. I would recommend getting on the list, and sitting in the first come-first serve bar area. The bar area is a bit tight with the amount of tables they put there, but it is a good area to grab a drink and appetizer (no main entree order allowed in bar), while your main dinner area table is ready for you. Food: Usually order the Steak Burrito. Have ordered both in flour and corn tortillas. Both were well made and tasted great. Charro beans that are included in the order were nice and hot and good flavored. Heads up! If you order this dish, I would recommend asking for the dressing salsa on the side. It might be a bit too hot if you are not a spicy fanatic. Rice was a bit hard, but still cooked. I guess rice can be a hit or miss in tex-mex restaurants. Drinks: We usually try to go during happy hour times. Drink specials are decent and there is always complimentary chips, salsa, cheese, and ground meat which is great. If you order margaritas, I would recommend the Blood Orange with an extra shooter. It'll give it that extra bump you need to have a good, strong drink. Service: Service has been great during our couple visits. From the time we walk in, to the time we leave, everyone is attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable of the menu. I know this place is TexMex but .. it took the Mex out of TexMex. My sister got some enchiladas and what we got was not enchiladas. The sauce was Chili!! who does that? If you're Mexican I would not recommend. Don't get me wrong we do love TexMex places but this was on another level of colonization. This is our family's favorite Texican restaurant!! We try to hit one when we travel to a town with one.

I am a huge fan of Chuy's, and am very happy that I no longer have to drive to Austin to eat at one. My husband always gets the Comida Deluxe plate. I am always happy with what I get. Yesterday I got a combination plate with a shrimp relleno and cheese enchilada with ranchero sauce. There is always way too much food for me, so I always have leftovers. The creamy jalapeño sauce is always a must. Since this location just opened it was really busy. We got there right after 11 A.M. on a Friday, and by the time we left there was a wait. The service was great. They also have a great happy hour that includes a nacho bar if you are drinking. I look forward to spending a lot of time at this Chuy's. read more

Great place with amazing scenery inside and outside. Their food is really good, but keep in mind this is Tex-Mex. I don't believe that their food compares to Mexican restaurants in San Antonio. They have an extremely limited menu at the moment so be sure to view that before going in and trying to order. They do not have common dishes such as nachos or quesadillas at the moment. We were seated promptly by the host who was on his phone about 85% of the time to a nice little booth (aka my fave) and then... we were greeted by our server who was either severely upset to see that she had us as customers, has a serious case of RBF, or maybe just had a bad day IDK. With that said, she made it seem like it was the most awful pain to serve us anything at all. She had absolutely ZERO pride, happiness, spark, charm, willingness to help, or desire to do her job. ANYWAYS, took about 10 mins to get 2 bottles beers from the bar and waters. You know whats the WORST, getting food (chips & salsa) BEFORE you have a drink of any sort. ugh, Now that is out of the way, the food was delicious as usual. Chuy's is families "go to" joint when in range of one. Wife eats the stacked chicken enchiladas with deluxe tomatillo sauce. I prefer the steak burrito topped with queso. You can't eat Chuy's without a queso compuesto, salsa & their signature "green sauce". We ordered carryout from this particular location in San Marcos off I-35. I parked in the "to go" parking area & called the host. About 45 seconds later the server rushed the food out piping hot & took my card for payment. She ensured that everything in my order was correct & even gave me additional "green sauce" at my pregnant wifes request. Her name was Ella & I would TOTALLY recommend her.
