To Lana C. who was upset that the owner wouldn't let her and her family sit at a table at this café and bakery, to eat something they had purchased elsewhere...few (if any) food businesses let you bring food from elsewhere, and enjoy it at their establishment. It's not really done. I've been a customer of Ciao, Gloria since they opened and the owner has always been very nice to me and other customers. I've never once seen him be rude to anyone. Ever. Right now, during Covid 19, small businesses are really struggling. Most have been closed for several months and had to lay off their staff, plus cope with not being able to pay their rent, suppliers, and other expenses. I think now is the time to support them, and perhaps next time you might consider actually buying something from the bakery to use their tables (they have excellent pastries and beverages)! read more

Came here to order the Insalata Mista because it was recommended in our FB neighborhood group and I really enjoyed it! I really like the flavor balance of the scallions, smoked gouda, and toasted almonds mixed with the greens and cider dressing. I was really excited to try this place because it's in my neighborhood. Sadly I won't return. The atmosphere isn't welcoming at all. There's an overall lack of courtesy. For an example I was returning the plates and utensils inside, the server who was right in front of me with nothing in her hands reluctantly kicked the door open hard enough for me to enter behind her. I'd say this place does not have a neighborhood feel it's very transient, where people don't acknowledge you and they're robotic. The kind of place that's in the right spot so they can get plenty of customers without worrying about the service they provide. It's also expensive but the food/drinks don't match the price point. I'd say skip this one. Although it's accessible move a few blocks up avoid a crummy experience. I promise you'll thank me. read more

Coffee is decent. I like their baked goods. I have come here on several occasions and have tried their tricolor cake, cheddar biscuit and banana walnut bread. I found the tricolor cake to be on the sweeter side and thought it paired well with a cup of black coffee to balance it out. The cheddar biscuit was good. The cheese flavor really comes through and I think the addition of scallions would make it even better. The banana walnut bread was flavorful and was missing a bit of moistness in the bread. Overall, this place is OKAY. The reason for the four star rating is because I like the atmosphere. This is definitely a place to work from or just hang out for alone time or with friends over coffee with some food. read more

Great little cafe with very nice outdoor seating, outstanding European pastries and wide variety of coffees, juices and Italian soda. I ordered the outstanding pistachio tricolor bar, cortado coffee and then a fresh squeezed orange juice, hard to get around New York. Front help is quick and efficient. P-E-C! P-E-C! Ciao, Gloria's super-inspired version of egg-on-a-roll had me laughing about how good it is. The roll, in this case, is a brioche bun, lightly eggy, fluffy, and sprinkled with everything seasoning. The baked egg pallet is well seasoned, and the crispy prosciutto (the "P" in PEC) isn't merely a chic swap for bacon. Since they've turned the chewy cured meat into a crackling sheet, it shatters into every bite, remaining one with the egg, the bread, and the cheese. You taste every ingredient all the way through, because clearly they've thought about this perfect breakfast sandwich from every angle. My only quibble? The Calabrian chili wasn't noticeable, to me. With it, you'd have salt, fat, heat, and crunch - and coffee alongside providing a hit of acid to complete the best breakfast I can imagine right now. (But that's probably because I can't stop thinking about this sandwich.) Extra points for a friendly staff, spotlessly clean setting, and free samples of baked goods (I'm looking at you, grapefruit olive oil cake) that have me eager to come back. read more

Came to give a raving review of Ciao, Gloria and am overjoyed that SO MANY others feel the same way about this great addition to the neighborhood! I would pass by everyday when taking my daily stroll, wondering/waiting for this place to open. Yes, I'm late in the review. But could not let more time pass before giving honor where it's due. My first encounter was the BEC! Highly recommended. The frittata lovely, great quality bacon, the aioli. Just get it. I've also had the Italo Disco (turkey club with prosciutto, avocado, Calabrese aioli) and a side salad. Fresh, fresh and fresh. SO GOOD! The portion was well worth it too. Don't pass on the pastries. I've had both the fig/honey torte and peach/almond. Will be returning to get both again and others. To top it off the owners and everyone who works there are so friendly and warm! The pistachio lemon bars are amazing! I'm a huge lemon bar fan and this might be the best I've ever had. Zesty, sweet but sour and a crumbly crust. Also the lemon ricotta black and white cookies are so good!! Bakeries can be hit or miss, I bake myself, and you can taste the quality in these. The breakfast sandwich was really delicious. This place is super cute! I came in after a run in PP to get some coffee and try one of their baked goods...they had so many options and the girl behind the counter was so great and walked me through all of their stuff, I ended up going with the coffee coffee cake, because I love coffee cake and I feel like I don't see it around anymore. I also got a coffee which was excellent. I then walked home and tried a piece of the coffee cake and WOW, it was so good! I was with a friend and in search of a quick cup of coffee, and was blown away by this place! There are tall windows that let a lot of light in, and there is a muted but colorful atmosphere both in the decorating as well as in the mood of the other customers inside. I ordered a hot mocha, and they brought it to where I was sitting. It was poured with a little design in the foam, complete with an aesthetically-placed dusting of cocoa. It was delicious! Perfect temperature, and a perfect balance of chocolate vs coffee. This was a wonderful experience created by the baristas and the great cup of coffee they made. I can't wait to come back! read more

I ordered an AVEC, Overnight Oats, and Summer Grain Bowl ugh. The AVEC came out around 10 minutes after ordering. 10 minutes later, the rest of the order still wasn't out, so we politely asked about the status. Turns out they just forgot about the overnight oats, which was packaged in a tiny plastic cup and pulled out from the fridge under the counter.
