Back in the day I was the proud manager of a Democratic Socialism page on MySpace, so of course I appreciated Sea & Soil's dynamic pricing system, which allows you to pay along a sliding spectrum for their sandwiches based on your own volition. There are plentiful vegetarian sandwiches on offer - I ordered a variety with zaatar-spiced tofu and asparagus on focaccia. It also had a heavy layer of mayonnaise and overall was a fairly satisfying sandwich, although I didn't love the asparagus. The pretzel chocolate croissant was pretty good but didn't seem especially pretzel-like to me. Sometimes you just can't beat a classic pain au chocolat from La Bicyclette.

Not your typical sandwich. The shop is adorable & like Brancaccios food made on premises. It's a sliding scale for sandwiches their main focus here. I went with the Lucy, smoked trout, fermented jam, greens & a small serving of ginger sesame slaw plus a small pretzel roll. Total: $20.49 but I only paid $10 for the sandwich. This place rocks on a lot of culinary levels. Location on the other side of Hicks is a trek from the F but soooo worth it.

Love this place! They have amazing sandwiches and bakery items. They bake their own bread and the scallion pancake croissant is my favorite. They recently started doing donuts on Sunday but get there early because they usually sell out before noon. They also sell sandwiches on a pricing scale to make it more affordable to people in different income ranges. Tip- you can early to have them hold any pastry item because they usually sell out early

The people in here were extremely nice! We didn't know which type of bread to pick and they surprised us. We got the Elliot and the river and each bite felt fulfilled of freshness. The spot it's super cute but small so we didn't get to grab a table but there it's a park at the next corner where you can easily enjoy these. We love the idea of their sliding scale pricing structure which basically you pay what you want based on their scale that normally goes from $9-$16 We decided to pay 10 for one and 15 for the other one We loved in here :)

Love the food, love the vibe, love that they are worker-owned. One of my favorite local spots for sure.

Hi there, do you offer an option for gluten free bread?

Hi Meredith! At this time, due to how much gluten baking we do in our small shop we can’t make our own, but we do carry Canyon GF bread that you can get any of our sandwiches… Read more

This place definitely lives up to the hype! The food here is amazing, and when I say food, I mean…read moremore than just the baked goods. Starting off with the baked goods, the brown butter corn cake may be the single best pastry I've had in my life. It has a great crispy exterior and a super moist and decadent interior that just makes it the best pastry you could ever ask for. I also think they have one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city, and their cinnamon roll is light yet executed perfectly. In addition to their pastries, their sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is this chili crisp tofu sandwich. It is packed with great flavor, perfectly tender tofu, and is layered between two pieces of delicious bread. I also love their arugula burrata prosciutto sandwich that is paired so nicely with their focaccia, making each bite the ultimate experience. While I've never waited in a really long line, I can say that they do move pretty efficiently. Unfortunately, there isn't much room to eat inside, but on a nice day, if you can grab a table outdoors, it's a great experience in the lovely Greenpoint neighborhood.

There was basil in the first sandwich that cuts through the fattiness of the meat and cheese which was great. The second sandwich had this spicy sesame sauce which was so good - was not expecting to like the tofu one that much. Brown butter corn bread was the most moist one I've ever had and the top was so crispy. Rhubarb pastry was good but nothing special - didn't taste the rhubarb.

Even though there is a line, you do not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly. On this visit we ordered plain croissant, chocolate croissant-fresh out of the oven, rhubarb croissant, black forest pastry and brown butter corn cake. The chocolate croissant was amazing. It is triple chocolate and cocoa powder is in the dough. It is filled with milk and dark chocolate, so creamy. The plain croissant was flaky and light. The brown butter corn cake was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and moist. The Black Forest croissant is a seasonal offering. It is made with their Triple Chocolate Croissant filled with chocolate cake and sour cherries and topped with mascarpone cream , Rhubarb & Custard Croissant . It is tart and sweet. The rhubarb is roasted and complimented with sweet vanilla custard. They all were excellent. Each were about $8. Highly recommend and don't let the line deter you .

The food itself: - cardamom bun was yummy, a bit too cardamom forward though. 3.5/5 - the pb and J croissant was cool, a bit too rich for my liking but I admire how different it was and I actually had to save this one for the next day and it was still good so 4/5
