I have been coming here since it first opened, and I couldn't believe I hadn't completed a review. This little restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The staff is always friendly, and the food never disappoints. This is my go-to spot whenever my comadre and I need a dinner date. We sit by the bar, order drinks, appetizers, and dinner, and enjoy the perfect atmosphere. The ambiance is always just right--not too loud and not too quiet. The drinks are amazing, and the food is always fresh and phenomenal. I have recommended this place countless times, and everyone I've sent here has fallen in love with it just as I have. I highly recommend the grilled octopus appetizer along with the mussels in wine sauce. You really can't go wrong with any entrée. This was very very good!! The carpaccio is the best I ever had and the pasta had a unique and delicious flavor. My wife also loved all her food. The interior was quiet in the dining area, where we were seated but more lively down in the bar area. Our server was delightful and we genuinely had a great experience. I would have loved to give Ciao Ragazzi a higher star rating because the food is wonderful. We've tried 5-6 times that ordered for pick up different dishes (pizzas, ravioli, etc) and everything has seemed incredibly superior and amazing compared to other restaurants in the area. We were actually considering going at least once a week because we enjoyed the food that much. But honestly, at this point, that's not something we're going to think about anymore. Why? Because the first time we went, the service was okay, nothing extraordinary, but we were treated well, we got our food, and the service was good. The second time, though, they sat us on the terrace, right in the middle of other tables. There were three different times when the waiters walked by and elbowed us while we were eating. They never apologized, and it felt like they were practically on top of us. That day, my husband ordered meatballs and asked them to leave out the cream or put as little as possible, the staff member just laughed and walked away, and when the dish came back, it had no changes at all. We knew because we'd had it before and could tell it was exactly the same. We also noticed them inside the restaurant pointing at us and laughing. It was really uncomfortable. The third time we went, we felt uneasy again, according to Google, they were supposed to close at 11pm on Saturday, and we arrived at 9:35 pm, we were still in the parking lot walking up when someone came out with trash bags and told us, "No Service, you can't come in." We didn't even get to the door before being turned away. Honestly, it's a great restaurant in terms of food, but the service is awful. We'd rather pay more somewhere else and be treated well than feel like we're being done a favor just by being there. It's not right to feel like you're a burden to the staff, and that's exactly the vibe we got not once but twice. read more

This has been our family's go-to restaurant every time we fly out of MDW. Their team is wonderful, the food has always been excellent, however this last visit was a let-down. They seem to have changed their pizza crust, and they now charge for lemon with water! We ordered a bottle of wine, pizza, gnocchi, a chicken dish, salad and something else.... But they charged $2 for lemons for our water! The money isn't the point. Was it bought or changed hands? read more

My husband and I have passed CIAO RAGAZZI many times intending to try it. It's tucked away in the neighborhood and looks so inviting. Being Italian, I'm rather particular about Italian food. Tonight we finally walked in. We were greeted with smiles and chose to sit in the bar area at a high top. First PLUS...they were playing Italian music!! We were greeted by a cute gal named Kim. I told her this was our first visit and she took our drink order and gave us time to view the vast menu. We chose bruschetta for an appetizer. Wow!! It was absolutely delicious!! My husband ordered homemade pizza with the most delicious crust....I told you, I'm fussy. I ordered the chicken Vesuvio....again absolutely perfect. We enjoyed Tiramisu and cuppacino afterwards. CIAO RAGAZZI is a jewel in my neighborhood. It's a family owned and family run business....that's why the employees care. We will definitely make it a point to visit frequently. read more

Stopped in early afternoon. Started with beers from the special's list: SA Octoberfest and Revolution Anti-Hero IPA. Both fresh and crisp. For app we had the Beef Carpaccio which was absolutely delicious. Super tender beef with a bright lemon/olive oil dressing. Perfect start! The Lobster Bisque had a good taste but we did not find any pieces of lobster in it. Dinners were Agnoloti Cipriani which was mouth watering and I could have gulped a cup of the sauce it was that phenomenal. Spouse had the Veal Parmigiana and found it amazing as well. I came here on a Monday early-evening for a friend's birthday. The service and cleanliness here is amazing! The moment you enter you are greeted with a friendly face and lots of warm hospitality! The wine glasses and dishes are clear with no heavy residue of any kind! Food: 5 stars....so SO good! The mussels are flavorful and plump! The beet salad is delicious! The caprese salad is heavenly, and the salmon entree is wonderful! Fish is perfectly seasoned and moist, and it sits on a pillow of golden mash potatoes! Tiramisu Dessert was divine, and I wish they had the churro cheesecake...but they were out! (Must be THAT good!) Lastly, their coffee was delicious! Simple black coffee with some cream! So it may be hard on the weekends. We had a table in the patio area. The lights were really dim and it was really hard to read the menu. I sat by what I think was patio doors and there was a small puddle of water. Think it was seeping in. The food was good. Majority of the group ordered the popular dish chicken Montecarlo. Others had pasta, pizza and soup. The chicken was tender and had good taste. The asparagus was cut into small pieces and placed on top of the mashed potatoes. Really wished the asparagus was left in long pieces. Or more was given. The mashed potatoes was a small ladle size. Overall the food was good. Heard so many good things about the food. Unfortunately I was not impressed. However, I am not a big fan of pasta so in all fairness that has to be taken into consideration. I have to admit that the ambiance and the wine were terrific!!! The grilled octopus and calamari were a bit overcooked. We waited a while for our lamb chops. The waiter was kind enough to advise that the lamb chops were taking a while however we didn't understand why because lamb chops are usually grilled in 4-5 mins. My son had the pasta and was not fond of the sauce. I will be back and give it another try. I will definitely be back for the wine. read more

The great service was only surpassed by excellent authentic Italian cuisine. The calamari appetizer was, by far, the best I've ever had in the city. Rigatoni with vodka sauce, chicken vesuvio, and chicken piccata were sooo good. The filet mignon was also a standout. Our water glasses were never empty and the complimentary, fresh bread with dipping oil and garlic was an unexpected surprise. Our first visit was for a private celebration. Ciao Ragazzi is a great addition to the neighborhood. It has great Italian fare and there is always something interesting on special, so be sure to inquire about those before you decide. I usually go with a pasta, but everything here is fantastic. I also love that their cocktail menu is mezcal-heavy. The service is always consistent and great. Service was TERRIBLE! Please do not support rude customer service who discriminate Latinos. My parents went to celebrate their anniversary and ended up leaving after getting yelled at by a waiter. The restaurant was practically empty so my dad moved a chair to sit closer to my mom. Then a waiter told him to move in a rude manner in which my dad called out because his attitude was completely different with other customers. However, he took it too far and started yelling at my dad telling him to go eat outside if he's so offended. Naturally, my parents left and as a daughter I'm disappointed that a LATINO waiter was so rude to my parents who just wanted to celebrate a special occasion. read more

Ordered the grilled octopus appetizer and it was fantastic if you are a fan of octopus. I would definitely get this again. My girlfriend ordered Ravioli with meat sauce and I had the shrimp ravioli in pink brandy cream sauce. (Don't remember the name on the menu). Both were excellent and everything was served very quickly and efficiently which was great because we were on our way to Midway airport and didn't have a lot of time. This place is about 10 minutes from the airport so it's easy to stop in before a flight. I'd recommend getting reservations as it began filling up quickly after we arrived around 6pm. We will be back every trip we take out of Midway until we have tried every item on the menu. read more
