Such an amazing restaurant, I can't recommend enough. We came for dinner so the place was packed with people. The inside of the restaurant felt like a classic Italian restaurant you might find in Italy. Our waiter was super nice and gave some great wine recommendations. First, they bring you some bread and give you a small platter mixed with olive oil, fresh garlic, and Parmesan. This is the first time I've seen it done this way but it was delicious. The calamari was delicious, not too fried and oily but still had so much flavor to it. We also decided to order the peperoni pizza, which is just a magnificent pizza. It was just cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor and spice. I ordered the raviolacci toscani, which took a bit of time to come out (but understandable given the amount of people). It was just delicious. The meat filling had such a deep flavor and the sauce wasn't so heavy that I didn't want to finish it. Cute dinner spot on Taylor. Lots of street parking options nearby, but on a Friday night, when the streets are packed, there's an affordable valet lot for the restaurant! Valet is cash only. Would recommend making a reservation :) The inside ambience is so cute and a great dinner spot. My friend and I got wine and our husbands got some of their specialty cocktails, the Moscow mule and margarita. I got the eggplant parm which was flavorful, but a little soggy, I wish it was a little crispier but it was good! My husband got the orichietti and enjoyed it. We dined here on a Sunday before a hockey game and all four of us really enjoyed it. The ambiance was nice, a great casual vibe, but the service was superior, elevated beyond casual. The server was attentive and in tune with our table. The courses were properly paced and the food was delicious. We ordered the chicken parm, short rib ravioli, oreccheite salsiccia and salmon, with a starter of Caesar salad and meatballs. Everything was perfect. Sometimes it's just the little things..... I had the good fortune to have dinner recently at Tuscany-Taylor. It was packed last Saturday night but fortunately I had a reservation for 7 pm and was seated about 10 minutes later. By the way the 'Taylor' in the restaurants name is the street it's located on. It has the feel of a popular neighborhood restaurant that attracts customers from all over Chicago. I ordered the spaghetti di mare for $31 and added the insalata della casa for another $10. First to arrive was the complimentary bread basket and olive oil except for one little thing. The waiter took a small plate and began crushing some garlic cloves on it and then adding the oil and mixing it all together. I could easily tell the freshness of the mixture on my delicious bread and it was hard not to eat the entire basket. Next, the salad arrived. Most side salads like this are an afterthought and put together to just get by. Sure, this salad had nice looking romaine, carrots, tomatoes and vinaigrette, etc. but the little extra this salad had were cucumber slices that actually tasted like real cucumber with a delicious flavor AND house made croutons that had a unique texture making me realize what a real crouton tastes like. Finally the entree appeared in a big bowl. Spaghetti with calamari, mussels, clams and shrimp of course in a red marinara. Kind of typical ingredients but the little difference with this entree was the actual amount of seafood included. Believe me, the picture I took doesn't do it justice. It was all the seafood I could want. Tuscany doesn't skimp with the content in this dish. It tasted great! The table service was very professional during the meal. It was easily a 4 star meal but it's because of Tuscany's attention to the little things I give 5 stars. read more

I went to eat here on a Thursday. This place has valet parking & is only open for 5 hours the night I attended. The Clam Vongole wasn't on the menu but we requested the dish and the restaurant gladly prepared the dish for us. The restaurant is a la cart however the proportions are healthy + hearty. The drinks are not watered down and the staff didn't rush us whatsoever in fact the staff made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and were very attentive. This was out on Friday night after work. The place continue to provide quality. Although our table in northeast corner was not available. Yes, quality service from the smiles and hand shakes from both the parking attendants; and the warm greeting from the front desk began our dining experience. The standard waiter for us is Kenny. The warm greetings and the automatic water without ice from Roc with straws; and the water with lemon wedges on a small plate from Mr. Mc Gee. Are you have your normal appetizer after his greeting? He passed out the evening special menu. We looked at the special. The table side spread was created by Kenny. The spread consist of roasted garlic, crushed roasted jalapeños peppers in oil, parmesan cheese combine with virgin olive oil mashed with a fork. This is a solid and reliable option in the Little Italy/University Village. So many businesses in the area have closed and there has been a lot of change to Taylor street, especially since Covid. You can come here and still feel that you're having an authentic Taylor street experience, complete with white tablecloths and excellent, warm service. My favorite dish is the pollo montecarlo, a chicken dish with prosciutto in a wine sauce. Some other good options are the meatballs and chicken parm. Look forward to coming back. read more

We came here at the tail end of summer and enjoyed sitting outside on their patio, which is the best option if it's available to you in my opinion. Their patio is off of the main road so the whole dining experience isn't disturbed by too many passing vehicles. The food here was alright, nothing too crazy memorable and nothing glaringly terrible. The mussel appetizer we got was probably the best thing- the sauce was light and savory, perfect for bread dipping. The special of the night that we ordered, a fish dish that I've forgotten exactly what it was, was pretty average. It had this unnatural reddish orange glow to the sauce. I didn't actually pick up much flavor from the sauce. The fish was cooked well. The other main dish we got was just a simple spaghetti, a safe choice for sure. It was well made and tasty. The portions are just right for one person per main dish- we had no leftovers. Our servers were great and overall it was a good experience but the food didn't blow me away. Had dinner on June 7 with family. Six adults and two teens. Decor very nice not a very large place, service excellent and on top of things as needs came up. Food which included chicken parm, di mare, mussels, veal piccata and few pastas and a pizza were all very good. My grandson loves pizza and indicated the pizza was very very good. The mussels were excellent and the antipasto were also very good. Prices were reasonable for Chicago and wine list large and good prices. I have been to Tuscany a few times. As far as Italian food goes, it's quite good. I would rate it 5 stars, but it's only getting 4 because I feel it is a little overpriced. Seen in the picture is the sage brown butter ravioli from their specialty menu. I think that if you get anything from the specialty menu it's worth in terms of money. The service was good and the staff felt like they were paying attention. They also provide bread and olive oil along with the food. The ambiance was like any normal restaurant, nothing special in my opinion. Overall, I think Tuscany is a good place for Italian food as long as you order from their special menu! read more

Haven't been here in a while and I was in little Italy with a friend so we decided to stop here and get dinner. They have a nice patio for outdoor seating and the inside is fairly large. There's a bar as soon as you walk in and a large dining area in the front and back of the restaurant. We started off with baked clams, bruschetta, & the grilled octopus on a salad. Everything was great, the clams were just very bread-y, definitely couldn't taste the clam at all. For the entree, I ordered chicken piccata which came with a side pasta... this is where it went down hill. The chicken was so floury and the pasta had a very odd taste, it's a lemon thyme sauce, and the noodles were undercooked (not al dente). I used to be a regular here and I was so disappointed with this visit, but I'll be back and give it another try next time I'm in town. read more

The fiancé and I had our eye on this place ever since I started at UIC and we finally got to try it last night. Valet is 11$ but there is plenty of street parking around the area and it's free on Sunday's. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and has a cozy ambiance. The menu is extensive yet authentic and the restaurant may be able to modify any of the dishes to fit your needs. Saul was our waiter and he was such a delight. He genuinely made our night so much fun. We had a great conversation with him and it's nice to see how passionate he is about the food at this restaurant. He gave us excellent recommendations! I wanted to order the Carpaccio De Manzo and Saul made sure to let me know that the beef is actually raw in this dish. Little does he know, I am Lebanese and have been eating raw beef ever since I can remember (kibbeh nayyeh anyone?) and was so excited to try the Italian version of raw beef. It was absolutely delicious. The citrus from the lemon mixes so well with the truffle oil and the arugula. Not to mention the delicious shaved parmesan; put that on top of their soft, warm complementary bread and you have one excellent Italian bite. We also had the bruschetta, the raviolini para and the raviolacci Toscanini. The Raviolini is a rich creamy pasta with mascarpone cheese, pears and sun dried tomatoes. The ravioli was also filled with a delicate and nutty beef filling. It was the favorite dish of the night. The bruschetta and raviolacci tasted okay but that raviolini para was out of this world. Wow! Alfredo was our waiter. We were a large party of 8 celebrating a birthday. We had such excellent service. The food was amazing. So rich and tasty. Everything we ate was superb from the appetizers to our desserts. Appetizers: we ordered bruschetta, calamari & Burrata. All were enough to feed the 8 of us and we enjoyed every bite. Main courses: most of us either orders the gnocchi or the ravioli in brown butter sauce with sage. My son ordered the Margarita Pizza. The ravioli was so rich and the portion seems small but the taste is amazing. The gnocchi with bolognese sauce was so fresh. For desserts we had Cannoli and Tiramisu. We even tried a molten lava cake. The tiramisu was so rich and decadent. The cannoli was smooth and crispy. It was fresh. To end our dinner we had a round of coffee and cappuccino. Have friends who love this place, so I've dined here at least a dozen times over the years. Unfortunately, it's inconsistent. My main criticism is usually the service. There's sometimes a wait for the food, but last week the kitchen was prompt. The staff can act like they'd rather be anywhere else, but last week our server was friendly and efficient... he even cracked a few corny jokes. The food is almost always good. Last week, not so much. My orecchietti con salsiccia was cooked al dente, but too salty. My friend said her whitefish was cooked perfectly, but tasted blah. Can't leave here without coffee and dessert. We opted for two where we could figure out the WW points. (Still trying to lose the last of the Covid isolation weight.) The cannoli was, as always, yummy. And my friend's vanilla gelato was authentic, creamy gelato. Valet parking was really easy, but pricier than pre-plague.
