She helped build my menu, provided suggestions and talked me through it all. One day we got subs delivered that came with their INCREDIBLE homemade chips. First time trying Calabria and not sure why I waited this long since I've lived in the town over my entire life. Pay to park but you can run in if you have an online pick up with no problem. I placed my order online and it was super easy and ready to go no more than 15 minutes. I was quickly greeted upon entering and my order was already ready to go. I ordered this weeks special #1 which was very light on the stomach but filling. Plenty of cheese, chicken, and tomatoes throughout with a nice light sauce over penne. The chicken parm was also very good. Right amount of cheese and parm on top with great breading and a perfectly cooked chicken breast. The housemade sauce was on another level. Very tangy with plenty of tomato chunks just the way I like it. Very good portions at a very good price. read more

New Orleans boy here, visiting for Lollapalooza (well actually my child was going; I couldn't pass the "you must be under this years old" bar at the gate). Delicious sandwiches, though that was on my dining partner's plate. I had the eggplant, classified as a "specialty dish," and it was excellent while also being unsurprising. The O'Donnel across the table looked great and that dining partner reported that it indeed was. Service is prompt though there can be a line at times. The location is near the 103rd St. - Beverly Hills Metrarail stop, which means you can eat up on the way out or back (if early enough), or pick up some of the real and true imports from Italy. I mention New Orleans because we're the home of the muffaletta, and in writing this review I saw that Calabria offers one on the menu. Normally po-boys and such outside the 504 area code are to be avoided, but given the nature of the muff and Calabria's skills at Italian sandwiches here, that's what I will try here the next time I'm in Chicagoland. read more

I called in an order for pickup. They answered my call, took my order and food was ready in 15 minutes. Very simple process. When I came to pick up my order, noticed it was pretty busy inside. They had a few tables. It was a lot larger and cleaner than I had expected. Definitely a more modern Italian style deli. My wife ordered an Italian sub, and I ordered their Original Freddy. I had a few bites out of the Italian. Bread tasted fresh as well as all the other ingredients. Just a little dry for my taste. Perhaps some seasoning and olive oil would have made this sandwich a little better. The Freddy was delicious. It was my first time trying this Southside Chicago sandwich. It came with a flattened sausage patty, sweet peppers, melted mozzarella cheese and red sauce. Think of an Italian sausage plate in a bun. Very tasty, and the sweet peppers complimented the Italian sausage perfectly. Not sure when I'll be back in Beverly, but l would definitely order this again. read more

Very disappointed that calabria imports doesn't carry nduja. The most famous thing from calabria, and its import store doesn't carry it. Still giving 4 stars because it was clean, and other things looked tasty. But HIGHLY disappointed in the lack of calabrese items. We need more authenticity and less stereotypes. read more

I stopped going there after the owner wasted a considerable amount of my time diagnosing a repair caused by a leaky cooler. Haven't been here in quite a long time. We got the Freddy and a steak sandwich. The Freddy is there Italian sausage patty sandwich with red sauce, mozzarella and peppers. Overall it was solid but I remember it being even better. Perhaps making the bread a garlic roll would amp it up. The black and blue steak sandwich had great flavor. The steak was chopped up but had a bunch of fatty/gristle pieces. The blue cheese made the sandwich. It was what kept it from being bone dry. Better handling if the steak or a better cut would make this fantastic. Their fresh cut homemade chips are cooked well and salted nicely. They had a special on their pepperoni pizza set ups. We picked one up for the weekend. The sauce is thin but has good flavor. It was an excellent deal on sale. Would go back sometime. read more

I ordered the heritage. Bulky and dry. Could use a sauce. If there is a sauce I missed it in flavor and consistency. The chips were burned and not seasoned at all. Not a flake of salt. Overall everything lacked flavor and seasoning. 2 stars for having steak that wasn't mostly fat. read more

Anytime I'm up in Beverly when they're open I stop in. I like the small neighborhood feel, reminds me of the small shops that lined North Ave. when I grew up. You can spot who the regulars are by the banter, if I lived close by, I'd be one of those. Can't go wrong here, nice selection of meats and cheeses to take home for sandwiches. Or, if your feeling lazy (like me) pick up one of their great sandwiches or subs. Speaking of lazy, you'll find a good selection of ready made items, lasagna, ravioli, sauces and pasta. You'll also find dough and fixing to roll out your own pizza. You also have the option to eat your goodies there if you can't wait to get them home. They don't have a parking lot but metered parking is plentiful or you can park on a nearby side street for free. read more

We booked the Calabria food truck to cater my brother's engagement party with 80 guests and everything was perfect! We served three different sandwiches plus the homemade chips. The food was delicious. Many of our guests have told us they've visited Calabria since the party because they needed to have their sandwiches again! The truck brought a great ambiance to the party too - they played music, had nice lighting, and had a large chalkboard sign with a congrats message to the couple. The five dollar lunch special. As many delicious options as Calabria can provide, and there are many; I cannot get past the five dollar lunch special. For $5 you get a 12" sub, a bag of home made potato chips and a bottle of water. There is a full menu from lasagna to take home pizza kits. There are beefs and panini sandwiches, something from everyone. This is a family business in the best way. Your order is taken, you are given a number, and you are handed your lunch. My household is very Italian, we visit Italy often and make our own Italian dishes at home and this pasta is honestly a disgrace. Words may be harsh but we've called in before about the spaghetti being flavorless and it still hasn't been changed. Where's the oregano??? Where the basil?? Salt? Pepper? Before commencing my review, I had to say yelp disappointed me by shutting down for maintenance at approximately 1030 hour today. That was the reason why I couldn't check in or post pictures. Now back to business, I've regained my faith in Italian food in Chicago so here's another one that I would recommend. I ordered the Mickey (fried eggplants, marinara sauce, and cheese wrapped in a baguette) and hubby chose the caprese (Mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil in a baguette). My Mickey was a mischievous boy who really made my hands and mouth messy (lol)! However, it was quite tasty if you could manage to eat it. Likewise, the caprese sandwich looked pretty hearty in terms of the amount of mozzarella. The ingredients were fresh and were made to order. The menu is pretty extensive. Other than sandwiches, they have pasta, soups, panini, and antipasti. We were the only patrons in the house, but the workers were busy working on some catering orders. That's a shame that the Subway next door still gets business because it's a mockery of Chicago-style Italian sandwiches. Calabria Imports is way better for sure! This is located within walking distance from 103rd. St./Beverly Metra station. The prices are comparable to a "Subway" sandwich that's SO all-American (I guess Americans run on corporations...Well, I thought the founders wanted Capitalism). If you like the old America, support the local business then. They also sell some light Italian-brand grocery items and house-made pasta sauce. The dining area is pretty spacious. Wish that I could give this a higher rating. The service was great! Very quick, I did go in about 30 min prior to closing - but got my food to-go. I ordered a Roast Beef sandwich cold with mustard and provolone. It was okay. The bread for the most part was almost too hard to eat. So mostly I picked off the meat and cheese and ate that. I also had their chicken noodle soup. I would have preferred it with out the chicken. It tasted as though it was left over grilled chicken and had an odd flavor. Probably something with the spices. The broth - tasted like straight bullion cubes smell. But wasn't salty. The veggies where great though. Maybe this was because I came in so late, and hope it was.
