Great neighborhood restaurant! I had the Chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta, and the portion was generous, easily enough for two. For drinks, I tried their Berry Margarita, which was excellent. My son had the house burger which looked delicious. The fries are everything! Would Definitely go back!

Shirley temple Pumpkin spice Expresso martini Focaccia Calamari Pesto campanelle Orechiette (1 coke, 1 pizza, 1 bucacini for other people at table) $198.51 without tip for four people - $6.84 credit card fee on top? Really? Served 3 people and kept the kid at the table waiting 15 minutes. None of the food was as good this time as last time. **No kids menu or entrees. Definitely not a family restaurant.

Although I am a new customer, I've been loyal to Peanut Park for the past six months and have recommended it to many friends and family. Up until tonight, my experiences had always been positive and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit was more than disappointing. I ordered a salad I've had at least a dozen times before, accept I added grilled chicken on top. I live for this salad and was just there maybe three weeks ago. Unaware that they have changed their menu, I ordered as usual. The name of the salad has not changed on the menu, but apparently the ingredients had been completely altered. When the dish arrived, to my surprise, it was drastically different and not something I enjoyed at all. I politely informed our server, who was kind and accommodating, and offered to replace the dish. However, it was now 6 p.m. we had tickets to see The Wiz at 7 p.m. and didn't have time to wait for another order, which I also informed her. I asked if the salad could be removed from the bill since it was essentially untouched. The server checked with the owner, who refused to remove the $30 salad or offer any kind of discount. When a restaurant changes a dish but keeps the same name, it creates a reasonable expectation for returning customers. When that expectation isn't met, basic customer service should step in. What makes this even more frustrating is that the restaurant was willing to prepare an entirely new dish, but not willing to remove the uneaten one from the bill. That simply isn't logical. If you're prepared to replace an item, it clearly acknowledges there was an issue, so refusing to comp or adjust the original charge is unreasonable. That decision was extremely disappointing. I, in-turn made the decision to eat only the additional grilled chicken on top, leaving the rest of the salad, paying the full bill and promptly getting out of there so we could be on time for our show. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. Sadly, the new menu leaves much to be desired and this experience has cost Peanut Park my business and my referrals going forward.

This is a great spot for happy hour! Such a great deal for the quality of food. It's $16 for any pizza (when they are all typically between $21-$28 at other times). For a group of 6, we ordered 3 pizzas and we were pretty satiated! I think if the group is especially hungry, then 4 pizzas would be a good amount. We ordered the Soppressata and honey, pepperoni and whipped ricotta, and funghi pizzas. All of them were really good!! It's hard to pick a favorite. I really liked that they did not hold back on the mushrooms on the funghi pizza, and they cut the mushrooms pretty thick so they were extra juicy! I also like that they were generous with the honey on the Soppressata and honey pizza. It was sweet and savory in the best way. The happy hour drink deals are pretty good too. $4 for draft beers, $7 for some wine selections, and $10 for classic cocktails. Service was great! They were attentive and were really on top of filling our water glasses, especially on a hot day! The space itself is classy casual and very clean! I also appreciated the bathrooms were really clean too. Definitely recommend!

My friend and I came to this place on a Saturday afternoon on a whim and it was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We ordered the burrata as an appetizer and we split the pistachio pizza. I highly recommend coming here. They also have a really good happy hour as well!

Delicious popular and authentic red-sauce Italian dishes, in a two-floor narrow semi-rustic yet modern restaurant and bar. Peanut Park Trattoria is named for Little Italy's Arrigo Park, which is called "Peanut Park" by locals for the peanut-shaped walking path. This restaurant is at Taylor and Loomis southwest of The Loop, south of the Eisenhower and west of the Dan Ryan, near Ashland and Roosevelt. It looks like there's plenty of street-parking nearby, and it's a 4-block-walk from the Polk station on the Loop-to-Cicero Pink line. You enter an antique-looking wood door on the corner, greeted by an up-to-10-seat bar with comfortable upholstered chairs with backs which beckon you to stay a while. There are lots of windowed-doors and wall art in the front hall along Loomis, lined with 4-seat tables and high-tops. I have no doubt the many doors are open and breezy when the weather is nice! You arrive at a cozy rustic-feeling modern-decor room resembling a red-bricked wine cellar, with a nostalgic display of a disassembled Vespa scooter over two luxurious 6-seat booths. They have around 60 first floor seats, and around 50 more upstairs, mostly at tables for four that can be combined. They smartly tailored their menu a little during an all-day Taylor Street Festa Italiana that surrounded the restaurant, and they added at least 50 canopy-covered outdoors seats. They were very busy at 6pm this street-festival Saturday, and handled the heavy traffic very well with no long waits for food or drink. We started with well-made Italian cocktails. My friends loved the Limoncello Spritz of sweet bright house-made (!) southern/Sicilian limoncello with Veneto-style prosecco, and a radiant Padua-originated Aperol Spritz also with prosecco. Mine was a popular-in-Rome balanced flavorful strong Florence-originated Negroni of smartly-bittersweet Campari and sweet vermouth, named (perhaps) for the Italian Count who added gin to an Americano to make it stronger :-). Of course, I am simply choosing my favorite of many available origin-stories :-). Our antipasti were perfectly-tender piping-hot light and crispy calamari fritti, which came with deep lightly-spiced tomato pomodoro and bright Calabrian aioli. Our mains were their house-made classic pastas. Their ruffled campanelle pasta is dressed with a nutty-flavored pistachio pesto with a light touch of chili. The wide ribbons of pappardelle are under a generous meaty bolognese sprinkled lightly with tangy aged parmigiano reggiano. I looked for treasure: Rome-invented thin long hollow bucatini pasta in rustic northern-central cacio e pepe. (My guesses as to their regions ;-). Peanut Park Trattoria did it perfectly: the substantial al-dente pasta in a reduced-to-creaminess starch sauce, brightly flavored with freshly-ground black pepper and shredded pecorino romano, simple in concept yet filled with flavor end-to-end. This was my goal and my hope, because a well-made rich traditional cacio e pepe is nearly impossible to find in an affordable restaurant like this, largely because it takes a lot of skill and attention to attain that creamy texture. Aaaahhh. Smooth creamy heaven. Thank you, grazie mille, to PPT's Bonomi, the Fiasche's, and Swierenga (if I am right) for delightful delicious traditional and creative food nourishing the soul in the heart of Little Italy!

    - Top notch service - Good food solid portions - Foccacia + whipped ricotta honey was divine 5/5 - pepperoni ricotta pizza was just perfect - great crust to sauce ratio + salty pepp cups - Grapefruit Paloma was 3/5 basic - Kind enough to go off menu and make a Hugo Spritz Overall - 9/10. Service food and good vibes made this spot impeccable.

    Campanelle Pistachio Pesto

The campanelle with pistachio pesto was absolutely amazing. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the chili added just the right amount of kick. The branzino was okay the herbs on the side were extremely bitter, and overall the flavor of the fish felt a bit underwhelming. The sausage and pepper appetizer with the charred bread was so good easily our favorite dish of the night. The ambience inside is cozy and charming, and our server was incredible. The bussers were just as attentive; I never once had an empty glass of water. Overall, I'd highly recommend coming here. The food, atmosphere, and service make it a great spot.

Visiting daughter in Chicago and she asked me for a list of what kind of food I wanted to eat during my visit. Italian was high on my list. I didn't just want Italian, I wanted the whole vibe. Peanut Park gave it to me. Friendly staff, a warm and gregarious owner, great service, fun drinks, hearty dishes and an upside down highchair to hold the car seat with my new grandson. This is more than a place to get a meal, it is a place to feel embraced. The family next to us was playing cards during their dinner, copious amounts of different selections being shared. The other side was a couple, enjoying their wine and romancing each each other in the dim light. Our meal ended with a shot of Limoncello. Kudos to my daughter for picking just the right place.

    Soppressata + Honey

We came for an early Sunday lunch. We arrived around 11:10 to locked doors. They did open the door for us and told us they don't open for another 30 minutes. ? Google, Yelp and hell even their own website shows 11AM as their opening time. Whatever. We walked around Taylor Street for 20 minutes and then returned at 11:30am. We got seated right away and two young ladies working the floor were great. My wife and I shared their Gnocchi and their Soppressata + Honey pizza. Both were really good. The gnocchi came with a vodka sauce, pancetta, bread crumbs and chives. The gnocchi was soft, vodka sauce was amazing and the pancetta gave this dish the perfect texture to this dish. The pizza was also good. My only issue with it was the way it was served. Instead of it being served on a flat pan, it was served in a bowl. So the crust was elevated causing all the grease to gravitate towards the middle. It made the end piece extremely wet and flimsy. It was still delicious though, just very odd. I have never seen pizza served that way. We also saw one of the owners, Dave walk in. Perhaps it was his day off just checking in on his restaurant, which is always nice to see, but he walked around the place like he was some wannabe mob boss. Never once smiled with his staff or made eye contact the few of us dining in that day. A simple "how's everything? Thank you for coming in," would have been great to hear. Unfortunately Rosebud is now closed, so there's not many great Italian options on Taylor street anymore. The food was good enough to make me come back, but might look at other options before returning.

Caesar salad was interesting, it has chopped celery inside which I didn't realize until I started eating. I don't like celery but my sis does and she liked it in the salad. I came here for a business dinner with about 6 others. The only frustrating part of our experience was we made a reservation online weeks in advance and when we arrived we were told that they basically overbooked every night and when you reserve a seat you're just saying you're coming. So we showed up and were told we were going to wait an hour. It sounds like they are super busy, but there are better ways to ensure the restaurant is selling every available seat rather than offering basically fake reservations that don't mean anything when you get there. Someone in our group complained enough about it that they sat us and did honor the reservation which we appreciated - given that it was a business dinner though, I think it was awkward we had to do that. It just was a LOT of work to organize multiple out of towners getting together and to show up and potentially wait an hour would have been so inconvenient. They really should fix this problem. The reservation issue aside the experience was great. The service is just sort of meh I didn't feel like they were above or beyond and didn't note anything exceptional there. But the food..... the food is the main event for sure. Everything I tried I loved. I had just had Italian the day before so I didn't want anything that felt "too Italian" (lasagna, pasta, pizza, etc) so I got the braised short rib over polenta which was a nice change of pace. It was amazing. Some of the best polenta I've ever had. I am already looking forward to the next time I can go back! The food here is outstanding. If you are able to go, I would highly recommend it.

The octopus surprised me because octopus can be hit or miss for me, but they did it really well! The table bread was also pretty good and cheesy. The Caesar was just fine. The Alla Vita chopped was pretty standard, kinda reminded me of Olive Garden salad lol. The stars of the meal were the tagliatelle and cappelletti pasta. Both were super flavorful and pasta cooked well. The bone-in ribeye was a little on the sweeter side, definitely lacked a crust and salt. I'd pass on the steak IMO. Our biggest qualm was the timing of the dishes coming out. The pasta came out 30-35 minutes after the appetizer and salad which is fine, but the steak coming out 15 minutes after the pasta kinda ruined it. We'd love to eat the entrees (steak and pasta) together, and not finish our pasta first or let it go cold then eat steak alone.. ya know? We had ordered crispy potatoes but cancelled due to the wait. Ended the night with mango passion fruit sorbet with a prosecco float. Big mistake on the prosecco float haha it was so tarte and bitter, would def recommend trying the sorbet alone! Overall, glad we finally got to try this place. Focus more on the pastas and skip the steak. Very beautiful inside.
