Momma Mia that was a great pizzeria! OMG, so outstanding and unbelievably excellent definitely a great experience. My wife and I were in Phoenix for the Father's Day weekend from Vegas on a short getaway to take in a ball game and want a pie on our first night in town. We were originally hell bent on going to Pizzeria Bianco because of everything we had read, heard or seen on the tube about the place, but after speaking to a number of locals who described the menu as having a limited amount of different pies and usually up to an hour wait we decided to try Cibo's based on what the bar staff at our hotel was suggesting and boy were we glad we did. First off this hidden treasure is set in a restored bungalow from 1913 in downtown Central Phoenix and each room is its own dining area. You'll find exposed brick, hardwood floors, authentic stained glass windows and a working fireplace, which means that you'll have much to admire while you mangia on your pizza. There's also a great outdoor patio as well. We started our meal off with Calamari ($12), Polpette, which is there signature meatballs ($12) and then the Salsiccia pizza, which is tomato sauce, sausage and mozzarella ($15.50). Both appetizers were excellent, but the pizza was to die for. Each pizza is made-to-order and hand-tossed by Chef Guido Saccone, a native of Sicily, and then topped with a delicious drizzle of extra virgin olive oil as well as what comes on it. You can tell effort goes into their food, environment, and the way the staff serves you. We'll be back next time we're in Phoenix for sure and recommend it to anyone who wants GREAT PIZZA at prices that won't break the bank. It sure does beat anything Las Vegas has to offer. read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch and was immediately seated outside on the patio (indoors closed due to COVID). The server was very attentive and friendly. I went with the cheese and charcuterie board and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were 5-6 different types each of cheese and charcuterie! Also garnished with apples, berries, olives. Decent pizza in a charming little old house with acceptable service. I had heard a lot of really great things about Cibo, so maybe I expected more, but everything just sort of felt "acceptable." There were also a surprisingly limited amount of veg options on the lunch menu, but the restaurant overall does alright. Parking was also not great. I had to park on the street, which was not ideal. The surrounding patio is shaded under a large trees and romantically lit. Service: A bit rushed during dinner but lunch is more relaxed. Servers on a whole know a lot about the food that's prepared and can make suggestions. Food: Their lunch menu is actually their best offerings. Artisan sandwiches (hot and cold) with great combinations. I go with the contradino (egg) or the salomne (salmon). Both are amazing. The dinner menu is artisan pizza which is great but I feel artisan pizzas are more common and I prefer Blancos. I've been Gluten Free for 25 years, in that time I have tried many GF pizzas and learned to settle with a thin crust pizza that is great, but not excellent. I have tried many places that have had reviews saying it's the best Gluten Free pizza someone has tried, only to come up disappointed. Let me tell you this is HANDS DOWN the BEST gluten free pizza I have EVER had!! OMG. I was blown away by this pizza. The crust is chewy and Neapolitan style and SO good!! The first time I went here and I got the Diavola GF Pizza and a house side salad. The second time we ordered the Diavola GF pizza and it was phenomenal both times!! Excellent wood fired pizza with high quality, fresh ingredients that they do not skimp on. They have a very good gluten-free crust that is chewy with bits of char and crunch, a perfect blend. The pizza is not over sauced, salty or excessively cheesy. I had the vegetarian as a take out. It was loaded with roasted red peppers, large chunks of artichoke, mushrooms and zucchini. Called in advance to make a reservation (they don't take bookings online). The outdoor patio is absolutely ADORABLE and so romantic. All of the lights make it feel like you're dining in a fairytale setting, almost. I looked around and noticed most of the tables were couples, LOL...but makes total sense! We ordered the arancini and pear salad to start - both were delicious! The pear salad is the perfect combination of sweet and salty (given the parmesan cheese), highly recommend this if you like to balance out your carbs with a bit of greens. For pizza, we got the margherita and the prosciutto crudo. Both were simple yet so good! I'd easily believe that every pizza on their menu is baked to perfection. In regards to service, our waiter didn't make a lot of conversation with us, but he was efficient and got the job done, which is good enough for me. No complaints. I'd definitely come back! Love love love this place. My boyfriend and I have a day night here very often. The prosciutto pizza is our favorite and the Diavola pizza is pretty yummy as well. I've tried pretty much every pasta on the menu and they're all delicious. None are overly creamy. The service is always great here. The main olate I had was like a pasta with vodka sauce and Italian sausage and it's the best I've had in a long time! The truffle fries were chefs kiss! And the pizza had that wood fire taste. I would have liked it crispy but it was still so good! Over all great experience and the place was the cutest vibe! They had a live band outside and it just reminded me of like a house but turned into a restaurant! It reminded me of like an old Italian house. HIGHLY recommended! And the DESSERT! Omg the deconstructed tiramisu was like the best I've ever had and since it was my birthday we got a crepe too. This will be our date night or special occasion spot. The price wasn't too bad wither! Just down the street from our AirBnB, my husband and I stopped in for dinner on a cool winter night. Neither of us ventured inside the restaurant, but were seated outdoors on the patio. The space heaters were on as were the twinkling overhead lights and the ambiance was simply 10/10. Our server was attentive and friendly, giving special attention to our pup who was welcome to join us as well. A unique feature of this restaurant was the digital menu, with photos of each dish next to the name! I often find myself researching yelp photos and coming up short on certain dishes. I wish more restaurants did this! After a day-drinking beer, we were craving salt, fat, and carbs, so we sampled the most crave-worthy that jumped out: - Calamari: texture was off. Breading a little too heavy, and served in thick wedges like fish sticks.... interesting. - Bolognese: pasta cooked a perfect al dente, but sauce was too acidic and lacked the depth and layered flavors that it should. Tasted more like a marinara meat sauce. - Pizza: the crusts were equally pillowy and crisp and wood-fired to perfection. I've only ordered takeout from this place, so I cannot speak to how Cibo is handling dine-in HOWEVER, I recently found out I have a wheat allergy. Meaning, my eating out experience just got bumped up a couple frustration levels. I have tried two gluten free dishes so far and they are EXCELLENT! I didn't have any symptoms after eating here and the food was delicious. I almost forgot what I was eating was gluten free. I had the Cappelletti alla Panna and the Pizza Rustica on separate occasions. Both excellent dishes. The gluten free pasta dish comes as fettuccine smothered in a perfect cream sauce. We enjoyed a lovely wedding celebration here, on the patio. It was just what we wanted. Food delicious, staff super friendly, they added sparklers to our cake (fab surprise!) and they also made a very nice gesture with our drinks to mark the occasion (another fab surprise!) I dined here for my surprise birthday dinner and literally every step of the night, from the moment I saw and entered Cibo, screamed romantic and elegant. The restaurant is basically a converted house with string lights on the trees, and I totally recommend dining outside with the live music. Once I got over how beautiful the place was, I turned my attention to the menu. The pizzas are split into reds and whites, and you can do half half. We got the half and half with la noce (red) and Genova (white). The former had walnuts and arugula and was pretty good, but man the Genova blew my mind. I can still taste the Genova - the flavors were literally so tastefully put together. The potatoes, pesto, and white onion blend together so well for a light but satisfying pizza. The only thing I'll say though is that the pizza was extremely thin/kind of soggy to the point where it was difficult to pick up and eat. You could eat it with a fork and knife but ours was just a little too soggy. Still yummy though - just wish it was a bit firmer! We also got the linguine cacio e pepe, and it was equally as good as the pizza. The presentation was so nice and it tasted just perfect. Honestly probably one of the best white pastas I've had. I'd 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a date night spot or even just a nice dinner outing with friends/family/colleagues. It's not overly expensive for how good it is. It was my first and probably last time eating at this restaurant for a number of reasons. I will start off by saying it wasn't terrible but it wasn't amazing. (Again, I've only been here one time so keep that in mind. They have really amazing reviews otherwise.) I walked in, and the restaurant is extremely dark, but that didn't bother me. Honestly, I really liked the vibe. As soon as we were sat at our table, I noticed the horrendous amount of flies. I don't really know what to say about that. But there's absolutely nothing worse than having to swipe away flies while trying to enjoy my dining experience. (Well there is but you know what I mean.) *I wish I had known that there was a lunch and dinner menu. I came here for lunch and the options were pretty disappointing. Also, if you're craving pasta, they only serve it at dinner time. My friends and I ordered the calamari as an appetizer. Well, we might as well have gotten frozen calamari from a grocery store or something. I will say that the calamari was cooked well, the texture was good, but it was just nothing special. For my entree, I ordered the alla parmigiano (I don't know if I spelled that correctly). I think because I already had my heart set on having pasta, I didn't enjoy this as much as I should have. It was actually pretty good. The salad paired well with it. I'm sure this restaurant is amazing, but I'm out-of-state, so I don't see myself giving this place any more time if I ever returned to the Phoenix area. read more

My family showed up at 5:30 on a Friday and waited around 20 minutes to get a table for three outside. The outdoor seating is lovely and has garden party vibes, so if the weather's nice, it's definitely worth taking advantage of it. The service was excellent and attentive, and I never felt like we were waiting long to have our needs met. As for the food...omg the food. The burrata appetizer was stunning and way more of a generous portion than any of us expected. But the real showstopper was the pizza. The pizzas were large, with plenty of toppings, and with crust that didn't feel like a chore to eat but that was actually delicious! Food is good but the process is bad. People frequently go downtown when they have some type of event with a predictable start time. Obviously, because of this, most downtown businesses allow for reservations. This restaurant only has a few tables through an online 3rd party system which never has availability anytime in the reasonably near future so it requires booking really far in advance. They also won't take a reservation over the phone so the process is frustrating. I mean, either do reservations or don't do them, but why do them half-way? And why make someone come down to the restaurant in person just to make a reservation for later that day? None of it makes sense and we are all busy people, so why make it so hard for us to give you our money? Conclusion is: the food is good, but not good enough to continue to subject yourself to terrible processes and poor attitudes. read more
