Loved our two night stay in their Wild Rose Cabin with the dog. In fact, my boyfriend and I wished we could have stayed longer. I loved that these cabins are much more isolated than most cabins in Big Bear(Technically these are outside Big Bear as well) These cabins are beautiful and the location was beautiful with an amazing hike on site. In terms of the current situation with the pandemic, there was a contactless check in. We just drove up right up to the cabin and the door was open with keys inside. When we needed trash thrown out and more supplies, the owners dropped it off for us in the front porch without any contact. I have stayed in multiple cabins before but none felt like a true "cabin in woods" experience such as this one. 5/5 stars! read more

We stayed at the Juniper Ridge House and it was FANTASTIC! Environment: The property and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. We went on a couple different hikes (one short and one longer). A beautiful deer came by the property as the sun was setting. Juniper Ridge: very spacious and beautifully decorated. It had three bedrooms, a loft, a large living area, a huge kitchen and dining area. In addition, there is a large patio area outside the living room area and the garage has a couple of sofas and a pool table. Verdict: It was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owners leave you a homemade cinnamon bun upon arrival, which is absolutely delicious. There are some amazing trails to hike throughout the morning and day. This is the perfect place to have a weekend escape to reconnect with one another and nature. Make sure you book today! Tips: there is no cell phone reception or wifi (however our Sprint phone was able to make calls). Make sure to stock up on food so you are able to cook your meals onsite. Make sure to bring your books and DVDs to watch some movies late at night. Next Time: we are excited to eventually come back with more family and have a beautiful weekend together. Great place to relax and feel rejuvenated. My dog had the time of her life playing with the owners two dog (Duke and Jack I think, a year old German Shepard and an older golden retriever) my dog Willow (Weimaraner) looked forward to the visits from Jack the Shepard. Vicki, Scott and Aimee thank you so much for having such a great place to relax with my dog. Big Bear lake is only minutes away to get supplies or to let the dog take a swim. The stars at night are beautiful and the roaring of the lion from next door is cool, something you don't hear everyday. Cabins are equipped with everything you need, ( shampoo, conditioner, towels, pots pans, dishes, silverware etc. ) barbecue on patio to use(gas). This is a beautiful hidden gym for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of town. Cute little cottages nestled in the forest off of the 38. The owners are so sweet with the fresh baked muffins beautiful wedding venue also. Pacific crest Trail runs right through the front of their property so if you're a hiker it's a great place to stay and do some exploring. They also have horse corrals if you want to use horses on the Pacific crest Trail. The owner said coming soon they're building a barn to also house indoor weddings down the road. But there is no cellular service unless you're on Verizon to me this was a good thing completely unplugged to unwind. Brought our city horses up for a long weekend of clean air, trail rides, and star gazing. We rented Koptich cabin, a cozy mountain retreat with nary a neighbor in sight. Brie, greeted us the minute we arrived and helped us set up the horses after making sure they had clean water. She was also our faithful trail guide, taking us on scenic trails up to gorgeous vistas and skyline views (make sure you hire her for the day to take you on the very best trails). The cabin was spotless with a full kitchen, downy comforters, a gas grill on the deck, and a fireplace stocked with wood for chilly mountain nights. We made fresh ground coffee and enjoyed their homemade cinnamon buns (delicious, thank you) by the corrals as our horses ate their breakfast. No cell phones meant a true unplugged experience, but we took oodles of photos on our epic trail rides and while watching the neon sunsets. Staying at Cienaga Creek is like having your very own vacation home to escape to with your horses (and dogs). Take highway 38 with its gentle incline that is easy on your truck and trailer and has no scary drop offs to worry about. The family that runs the place is charming and responsive, and provides you have everything you could possibly need. Bring a blanket for your horse, as the evenings can get chilly--and make sure you ask Brie for a guided tour--she's amazing and knows the mountain like the back of her hand. read more

This place was just amazing. Such cute little cottages. The place was clean and perfect spot to getaway for a peaceful weekend. It is isolated and not close to the other 3 cabins but yet with enough movement where you just feel relaxed and peaceful. I always knew in my heart of hearts that I was a mountain person and not a beach person. A weekend at Cienaga Creek Ranch confirmed that for me. We rented the Kopitch cabin, which is a one bedroom, one bath house complete with kitchen, dining area and living room that sits on its own 10 acre area. You don't even see another building from the cabin. The wood burning stove and the heater made the cabin very warm. Maddy went absolutely nuts. She roamed around the entire cabin and chased squirrels until she was worn out. When we got home, she slept for two days. Caution: DO NOT allow your dog to roam around unattended. We saw a puppy wandering around and then we later heard the worst yelping as the puppy was obviously attacked by a coyote or something. That doesn't mean that you can't bring your dog here, Maddy was fine because we watched her. The neighbor next door (a 10 minute hike away from our cabin) raises animals for movies such as lions, tigers and bears (oh, my). You can hear the lions roaring and it was unnerving at first, but once we hiked over to see them, it was fine. Let's be real. The price is on the high side; but let me explain what you get for all your hard earned dough. You get total and complete seclusion from the world. You get clean fresh mountain air. You've never seen so many stars in your life. Other cabins that I looked at required you to bring your own bed sheets and towels; this place includes all that. There's fresh baked breakfast goodies each morning and freshly ground coffee. Bring some food to grill or cook and you'll be happy to spend the time in your cabin. We loved this quick little getaway only it was too quick! We reserved one night only because I find so many places to be uncomfortable but this was an exception. Did not want to leave the next day. There was lots of snow-tons! It was gorgeous with snow covering the ground and decorating the trees. The cabin was clean and well appointed. I brought lots of stuff that I didn't need to bring. Even the shampoo was great! The bed was comfortable, the jacuzzi tub was great, the fireplace was nice that it burned real wood. Coffee beans to grind....Loved the well water too! the owners were great, yes, and great bakers----cinnamon rolls were yyummy. One of the greatest things about this trip was waking to the sound of a roaring African Lion with our coffee! Yeah, he lives next door. My kids hubby and I were amazed-it is not everyday that you hear that. We can't always get away for the great weekday rates, wish we could afford to visit more often! We'd be there once a month especially in the winter. We are telling our friends about this place. read more

We arrived and there was a nice welcome card and fresh baked cinnamon rolls for us. What a treat! There was some nice walking/hiking on the property that we took advantage of and then took the short drive into Big Bear to do some more hiking. The ranch is a bit of a hike out of town from Big Bear, but if you're looking for seclusion and getting away from it all, this is the place. We truly enjoyed our 2 night get-away at Cienaga Creek Ranch, just 20 minute drive from Big Bear Lake. We rented the Kopitch cabin and it was better than expected. What a pleasant surprise to find home-baked cinnamon rolls when we arrived not to forget a bone for our dog:-) The cabin was left open for us and we could settle in right away and cozy up for the evening, no need to "check in" until the following day. How nice of Vickie & Scott (the owners) The cabin was located in a very private area surrounded by the beautiful forest. It had everything we needed, all kitchen utensils, pots & pans, coffee grinder and coffee beans, soap and shampoo in the bathroom etc... There's no signal out there which is kind of nice, no annoying phone calls and it allows you to completely be one with nature for a few days, very destressing and relaxing. We will definitely return to Cienaga Creek and recommend this place to everyone... read more

This place was amazing! and I have very high standards. We stayed in Ironwood Cabin which had a jacuzzi. I was amazed at how well prepared the cabin was from can openers, logs for the fire, BBQ, wine openers. We had originally brought much of our own cooking stuff but found out there was no need. Each day they had fresh baked goodies for us, the management was great. My only suggestion for them would be do have little fenced areas for the dogs if you need to go somewhere they can not go, such as snowboarding. But overall i have no complaints. Fantastic. Oh another cool part is there is a lion that you get to wake up to roaring each morning because it lives on the neighboring land. So lion roars and sweet treats... amazing! read more

Our daughter was married at this spectacular venue last weekend. The accommodations are amazing. The Ranch offers majestic views, panoramic vistas, and perfect seclusion. Julie, our hostess and her family made the experience so memorable. They were all incredibly professional. They anticipated our every need. The food they prepared was far above all our expectations. It was served with meticulous precision. The appetizer table was our first glimpse of the wedding feast. The offerings included a plethora of original cheeses and succulent meats. The fruit was fresh and delicious. It was timed perfectly. I wish I could offer a picture. It would definitely make your mouth water. The dinner was so inviting. The smoker they used gave us all an appetite, making us crave chicken and tri tip long before the meal was served. This is a great getaway for a couple married or not. I recommend this place because it was very staff friendly and also very private away from Big bear tourists which was nice. My only recommendation is to bring food and water because the closest store is back in Big bear 20 miles away. Like I said its very secluded but you will love the peace and quiet. Each cabin has a full kitchen, hot tub Jacuzzi, fireplace and more. Ill be honest when my girlfriend and I first arrived we were freeked out because it was very secluded and we just watched the movie Getout which kinda reminded us of it lol but jokes aside we're still alive you have nothing to fear it is a safe place and you will love it read more

We stayed in "the big house" named Juniper Ridge from November 1st through the 3rd. We were charged a "cleaning fee" although, we did not receive any house keeping service. There is no phone in the cabin so pray you get cellular service if not you will have to take annoying walks or drives to and from the main house! On our first night at the cabin we did not have any running water for over 3 hours nor hot water for over 4 hours. The refrigerator was not working properly, the freezer side worked while the fridge side was warm. Whomever "set the place up" left a water valve open in the "boiler room" (A closet with a water heater located in the garage) which caused the garage to flood. We personally cleaned up the mess, stopped the leak, and turned the water heater on. I can say the next two days went rather smoothly compared to our first night. This cabin is beautiful and it is sad the maintenance and management do not live up the expectations I had of this "5 star Cabin". There was a deduction of $50 from our deposit because the management team claimed we put away dirty dishes. The woman I spoke to claimed there was food stuck to the spoons and forks as well as soap on the pots and pans. This is an odd claim for the simple fact that we only used disposable utensils, plates, and cups. The pots and pans were soaked, rinsed, and put through the dishwasher before they were put away. The woman also seemed upset about the closet in the garage being opened because it was supposed to be locked (which it was not). After, I told her why we even had to open that door in the first place she admitted they have had the same issue in the past and that it should have not been a problem for us. When another member of our party called the management team to talk about the situation the supervisor hung up on him. Again, this proved the lack of professionalism and what is needed to manage a "5-Star Cabin". Overall the team at Cienaga Creek Ranch is operating at a very low level and does not live up to their 5-Star status. They are charging us $50 because they claim we left food on dishes we did not use. Please keep in mind we were charged a cleaning fee! It first glance, this place was a dream come true! It was just not the one I hoped for, I did not expect my weekend getaway to result a nightmare. read more

We only stayed one night in the Ironwood cabin but wish we could've stayed longer. This place is located on the east side of the mountain, just as an FYI ,and away from Big Bear but we loved it's seclusion. The best part about the Ironwood cabin is that it's set pretty far back so no other cabins are near you nor the main travel road used to access the other cabins. Sooo if you wanna parade around in your bday suit I think you're pretty safe from spectators. They leave little treats like orange juice and milk in the fridge and fruit. I chose to feed the apples they lto the friendly horses they have on the property :) When we entered they had sweet mood music playing quietly on a little CD player, it was so cute! The bathtub was my favorite part. Certainly big enough for 2 and the jets work great! The bedroom has a skylight over the bed. I loved and hated it. I loved it because you can star gaze all night! But hated it because unfortunately I did exactly that instead of sleeping. Though a perk of staying up all night are the sounds of the howling coyotes. It sounded beautiful. The two reasons I marked my rating down was 1) the toilet didn't automatically refill with water to flush, so you'd have to lift the lid and jiggle things around until it started doing what it's supposed to do. 2) the fire alarm kept going off when we used the oven!!! The thing is there was no smoke lol. Thankfully our little pizza only took 10 mins to cook. As a result we had to keep the door open (and it was freeeeeezing outside) just so the alarm wouldn't continuously be ringing. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. read more

I was looking for a place to unplug!!!! No phone, no cable, no internet, no traffic!!!! This place exceeded my expectations!!! The owners are the nicest most hospitable people. I stayed at The Kopitch Cabin surrounded by complete wilderness!!! It was just what my dog & I needed!!! The cabin itself was immaculate & very comfortable. Everything was very clean & fresh. I am very finicky about cleanliness haha and I give them a 5 star for sure. So many trails to walk your dog & explore off leash. I have been to several cabin properties in Big Bear area & Cienaga Creek Ranch has by far been the best!!!! I am so happy that I found this hidden gem. It has the secluded wilderness feel that I was looking for. Just note to self that I have AT&T cell phone service & had No Service during my stay apparently the tower is down but if you have Verizon your in business. So next time I will be prepared & bring along my niece & her phone haha. Also they have DVD players and some movies available but next time I would just bring some movies with me. And it's about 15 minutes to town, stores, restaurants etc. I brought my groceries so we didn't have to leave our cabin which made it the perfect getaway. I highly recommend these cabins if your looking for some R&R and to recharge your battery. I will be back for sure!!!! This is my new go to place when I want to getaway from the desert heat!!!! You can't ask for more. We typically stay 4-6 weekends a year in Big Bear cabins and this place is the best ever!!!! Karen was a gracious hostess with mostest. She truly wants you to have a great stay. The cinammon rolls are awesome. The place is very clean and delightful, You would never know this was a dog friendly retreat from the cleanliness of the cabins with the exception of the provided pet food and water bowls. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking almost anything including baked goods. The cabin itself stands out on it's own merit but it's all of the little things like coffee beans too grind, hot chocolate, tea hot cider, popcorn for your movies, the cinnamon rolls and a quite few other things to make your stay an extremely enjoyable experience. The hiking is wonderful, no leash needed for your dog and evenings sounds of the neighboring wildlife is quite unique. Thank you for a great time!!! read more

Staying at the Cienaga Creek Ranch was the best decision we could've made. They had everything you could ever need inside of their very private cabins. From board games, DVD collection, comfy robes, a and even complete kitchen with snacks from oatmeal to fresh fruit and super yummy cinnamon rolls. They had firewood right outside your cabin for an additional purchase. The staff and owners of the Ranch were so helpful and put so much attention into every detail. Their whole ranch is so dog friendly it was so nice. Just the views and the areas to hike around were breath taking. Can't say enough wonderful things about our entire experience. We loved this very comfortable, off the grid cabin. We stayed in Hunter's Lodge and it was wonderful. The owners, Scott and Vicky, saw to many details to make our stay very fun and interesting. We arrived to find martinellis and chocolate dipped strawberries, and some snacks and juice in the fridge. The place has a queen bed, and a large side by side double jacuzzi tub that was awesome and I am not a bather. There is also a large double shower in this unit, with two sinks. There are two skylights - one above the bed and the other above the bathtub. Our first night, we passed out early, but the second night, I perused the stars and spied the big dipper! It also snowed while we were there - a very fun coincidence. The bed was comfy overall. There is a futon couch in the living room, and a little kitchenette. There was a large assortment of hot drinks in a little basket and Vicky made cinnamon rolls, and banana muffins. They also are dog friendly. THey left two bowls for our doggies, and a little doggie treat, too, for each dog. There is absolutely no cell service for us - T-Mobile. We had to go into town for that, but we wanted to be off the grid, anyway. Town is 15 minutes away. It was very nice, and anything I asked for I got, like more towels, since it snowed, and everything was such a mess. They have everything for you, and if you don't see it, you should ask, because they probably have it. The water tasted great from the tap. Our dogs roamed around, but we kept an eye on them at all times. Went to the Predators in action place, and there wasn't much action. There were two sleepy bears and a bengal tiger that I couldn't really see all that well, and a three legged German shephard watch dog that ran the perimeter as we walked the trail. We did hear the lion roaring, though, even though we did not see it. The trails are nice, and we plan to come back and do some dirt bike riding nearby. Next time, we might try a different cabin, but maybe not. It was pretty great. read more

My husband and I came here to get away from the city and work. We had a lot fun hiking, running, reading, watching old movies and just living simply. The staff is wonderful. Everyday someone came to check on us and even left baked treats for us. We brought our cat and were charmed when we saw that a little gift basket was prepared for him! For me it was a plus that the cabin was a few miles from town because we wanted peace and a little isolation; however, you're still close enough to markets, restaurants and internet. I'm not really sure what others consider "pricey" but for us Cienaga Creek Ranch is well worth the price. Our Wild Rose cabin had a nice kitchen, big tv and DVD player, lovely bedroom, fabulous jacuzzi tub, huge two person shower, and an adorable front porch. If you need a little mental health vacation, I recommend coming. read more

Truly the best vacation we have ever had! They didn't mind that we brought (and paid for, of course) 3 dogs, which is rare. We spent our days tromping through the snow on the trails, where the dogs could run off leash (all are under good voice control). The breakfast goodies were wonderful, the owners were really nice (and we never even saw their dog). We had cell service (boooo), and how often do you get to hear african lions roaring each morning? There were lots of really nice touches, and I wish we could have stayed longer (a rarity for me). There was a toboggan run right by our cabin which was extremely fun too. I can't think of a single thing that would have made our trip better, and I very much appreciate that they are environmentally friendly- the ranch is run on solar power, they use big soap dispensers, not the usual tiny, wasteful bottles. read more

We walked inside our cabin which was warm, had music playing, two Hershey's kisses by the bed, two cinnamon buns on the table and two orange juices in the fridge with a sign welcoming us. Imagine having a wonderful view of a forest while lounging around without any connection to the outside world and soaking in a Jacuzzi with a glass of wine while a fire gently dances in a fireplace in the other room. This is that place. They have a guy down the street that has a wild animal enclosure because the animals are used in movies and you can hike right past it. I saw the bears! It is important, I feel, to chime in as someone with small children, since most of the reviews lauding this place come from dog owners. We came here to give our small children the experience of being in the snow for a few days, and it was perfect. My girlfriend and i wanted to get away for her birthday, and we needed a dog friendly place, man was this a great place to stay. We have four dogs together and so the problem was finding a place that would house all of us. And though we don't live together its okay for us to have them but when we want to go out it makes it very difficult. According to the county we could stay anywhere as long as it wasn't in access of thirty days (we called the San bernardino County office to make sure), but the problem was no cabin would take them. They are all house trained and non threatening but only we know that. We made arrangements to stay for three days and to only take two of our dogs but finally we called Vickey and asked if we could bring them all and she was very accommodating. We stayed in the Kopitch cabin which is situated on its own 10 acres. We didn't get into the lodge until about 9 at night but we didn't have to go through all of the formalities of checking in which is a great plus since we were already tired. We walked in and there were home made breakfast treats for us waiting on the table and juices in the refrigerator. Forget the chocolate on the pillow, this blew it out of the water. We immediately let the dogs all out and they all had a great time. It was an oasis from the hectic city life. Snow immediately outside the cabin, and all the firewood we could use kept us very cozy and comfortable. The views from the cabin were amazing at all times of the day and at night we had never seen so many stars. Great hiking, and in the morning we would wake to the roar of a lion which was fantastic and would not be heard anywhere else in big bear. From the moment we woke up we would let the dogs loose and they would run and play until they were exhausted which made it that much more enjoyable for us. Also they have birthday packages which i took advantage of. Just made one call, and we all went on a hike for about an hour, and when we came back my girlfriend was so surprised to find the cabin decorated and a very tasty cake and some champagne. We were having such an amazing time we extended our stay from 3 nights to 7. Every day Vickey would come by and drop off more treats which made for an amazing breakfast. They had all of the cookware you could need, coffee and all the things necessary for a long stay. A grill on the porch which we put to use. Very hot water every time we jumped into the shower and bath robes to use afterwards. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Big Bear from now on and will recommend this place to everyone planning on going. My only recommendation would be to have the swing on porch set up so we could have used it but it wasn't that big of a deal. read more

I love this place! We used to come every year and then after a rather long time (had 2 kids - where the time went?) came there again , this time with my kids. What a wonderful place! If you would like to escape, be closer to nature and father from busy-busy life, then it's just perfect. The place is a few cottages, nicely decorated in rustic style. Everything is thought through. I really wanted to love this place. Fifteen miles outside of Big Bear Lake this 50-acre ranch is a dog lover's paradise. I loved the daily breakfast breads but the property was littered with construction trash, broken toys, and other random crap. The sceanery was beautiful except for all the stumps everywhere. I really wouldn't mind all this but you're paying over $250/night for a cottage. Your dog is free to roam but you're asked to keep them close to avoid bothering other guests. No problem. But the owner's dog is free to come hang out on your deck all evening/morning, taking your dogs toys. Really kind of annoying. And speaking of annoying, in our bathroom there was no window or fan or any sort of ventilation. So everything from the bathroom eventually wafted back into the kitchen. You know, for $100 a night this would be a great getaway but for a $500 weekend I expect a lot more, especially in these times. read more

Stayed here this past weekend with my boyfriend. We both loved our experience. We arrived late on Friday night and were able to get settled into the cabin very easily. Everything was well thought out, the kitchen was well stocked with plates, pans and anything we'd need (except for paper towels- need to bring your own) and the selection of movies, although small- was pretty great. We used the map to walk around and see some beautiful sights and used the grill-even though it was only about 20 degrees out. The owners of the Ranch even stopped by to surprise us with some homemade pumpkin bread and cream cheese one evening, so delicious. The heater and fireplace kept the cabin nice and toasty and there was an endless supply of hot water. The wifi isn't great but it gets the job done if you need to be in contact with the real world. Can't say enough about how lovely it was. Thank-you for the great weekend. read more

We spent 3 wonderful nights in the Kopitch cabin with our 2 corgis. It was a well needed respite and get away, The privacy and solitude was just what was needed. Huge fresh cinnamon rolls, fresh ranch eggs, orange juice, a spotless cabin, welcome notes for us and our puppies ( and dog treats)- I am so impressed. Friendly, warm family run, comfortable beds, all the amenities needed, a full compact kitchen, towels, etc. I hate to tell everyone how great it is in fear that I will never be able to get reservations again! We will be back of sure. We took wonderful hikes, drives, and wandered a bit on the Pacific Crest Trail. Saw the wild animals up the road (tigers and bears). The dogs were in heaven, and could run and play and bark to their hearts desire. It is off grid and quiet. I loved the DVD's to watch, read a book, enjoyed the complete silence. Just what I needed. We just enjoyed a wonderful two night stay at Cienaga Creek Ranch in the Kopitch cabin. If you are looking for total solitude in a quaint cabin in the woods, this is it! Our English Springer Spaniel ran freely through the trees while we watched from our porch. Freshly baked cinnamon rolls and banana bread along with a great hostess Vicky and her daughter-in-law Bree. All this AND the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) crosses the entrance to the property. Wonderful weekend retreat. We will be back!! read more

Excellent Getaway!!! Had a Great time here... Very Cozy and welcoming... You can bring your dogs for only 10 extra dollars... There is no internet cell phone or Cable T.V. but many of you may think this is a bad thing but it is the complete opposite you forget about the real world here and are able to truly relax... There is a tv and they have a movie library so you still can watch movies at your own place but you dont have 24 hour news and sports and blah blah blah... I felt very liberated coming here... There are 2 person jacuzzis in the cabins that are SO comfortable!!! There is no more construction stuff which the last person commented on... My Girlfriend and I came here to get Some R & R... And I have to say we couldint of asked for anything better to be here with our two dogs... Viki and her husband own the place we didnt meet her husband but viki was really nice and made us feel very welcome and brought us some GREAT treats like banana bread and cinnamon rolls which were out of this world!!! Love this place and will come back soon!!! read more
