Absolutely amazing! My husband and I had our wedding here this week and it was the most perfect day thanks to the staff at the manor. Aimee, Darrin and their team are so kind, informative, and professional. We lodges at the venue the night before the wedding and the day of our wedding. They served us breakfast both mornings, all the rooms were clean and had many amenities for us. They kept the flow of our wedding perfect and took all the stress off of us. The venue is beautiful and has some nice new updates like their wedding arches, lights in all the trees and bushes, and new flooring. Needed a last minute self care getaway with myself so of course I turn to yelp to help me find a destination. I booked at the gold mountain manor from being so captured by their location. Tuesday morning i jumped in my car and sped to big bear. Parked in the back and once upon arrival I knew this was great idea. Tony welcomed me and man the pictures were exactly what they posted. I was so fortunate to have the place to myself for a night. The next day I met Amy and she was so lovely. Made a parfait and then simple blue berry pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. Amy was really great to talk to made you feel like family. I'm obviously going through things and she made me feel welcomed. My last day for checkout had a great home made breakfast again by Amy. Gold mountain manor was best first bed and breakfast experiences I've had. Will be back next chance I'm able to get away from my reality. The wife and I spent this last weekend with the new owners of Gold Mountain Manor. This was our first foray into a full Bed and Breakfast stay, and let me tell you, Darrin and Amy know what they're doing! We're told that the decor hasn't changed much, though the rooms do have new smart TVs, and their WiFi is strong throughout. The Presidential Suit has a huge two-person tub in front of the fireplace. We didn't use the fireplace due to the heat, though it was stocked and ready for us. The tub was awesome! The wife took six baths over our three day stay! The grounds are wonderfully manicured and our time spent there was filled with watching a couple of robins, a couple of rabbits, and a bunch of chipmunks and squirrels. It was so relaxing to sit back and watch them all scurry around! This was a wonderful weekend at a wonderful B&B! We will definitely be back many times for years to come! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful two-night stay in the Clark Gable room and have since booked the entire house for Christmas this year for the entire family! The house is old but beautiful, very well kept, clean, and has a great history! Every room has a private bathroom which was a nice plus. The morning full breakfast service and food was excellent and was served outside on the large wrap around porch. What a way to start the day! There are snacks and hot coffee/cocoa in the guest kitchen for mid-day (or night) munchies. The Village is a short drive away and the surrounding area is beautiful and fun to explore. The hosts, Darrin & Amy, are wonderful people and live close by. We found them to be very accommodating and quick to respond to any inquiries. What a funky, nice place to stay. Toni was fun and unobtrusive, and sitting on the porch for breakfast was terrific. We're sorry they ran out of propane the second morning, but we sat outside once again to read before we left. We spent most of our full day there reading in their Adirondack chairs in their pretty front yard with tall, beautiful trees and many places to sit. I attended a summer wedding here and I totally get the quaint feel of the place. It totally feels like the cute cabin in the woods that you see in movies but with that rustic charm, creaking floorboards and some mustiness comes along with it. The staff was very accommodating and they even had homemade cookies for the guest that stayed. I think it was the owner (?) but she got the wedding party settled in well and with the craziness of things, I was very surprised that things ran fairly smoothly. The venue for the wedding was beautiful and picture perfect. Since it is outdoors, prepare bug spray as little things will crowd around your ankles and such. For guests that stayed overnight, those needing of assistance to walk up stairs or elderly should definitely stay downstairs. For those in wheelchairs, you'll need to be carried. The stairs to the upper rooms are very steep, narrow and the steps are fairly small. The rooms downstairs has steps up and down so be prepared for that. Wifi is available and given at the front desk/kitchen area but I was not able to log on. If the weather is hot, there isn't central AC but a fan is available in the rooms. Final Thoughts: I'm that one crazy person that has watched one too many ghost movies, creeped myself out but I love the old mountain feel of this place. This definitely is a beautiful place for a small wedding and pictures here come out beautifully (especially with the lighting and sun rays peeking through the trees) read more

My husband surprised me for my birthday and brought me to the coziest and most charming Bed and Breakfast! I absolutely loved every minute of being in our room! We had the President Suite and it was beautiful! The whole manor was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The hosts were extremely gracious! The food was delicious! I have loved this historic landmark and enjoyed various stays here for well over 20 years. During that time, I've had the pleasure of getting to know the various owners who've made their own adjustments and changes to its original blueprint. The manor's storied history is glamorous and steeped in classic Hollywood lore... Which I won't bore you with - since you can find it easily on their website or by researching any number of articles written about this stunning log cabin mansion. What I will share is that it has many modern conveniences that have been added over the years, and still makes for a pleasurable, cozy, romantic getaway - whether as a couple, or just trying to get away from every day cares on a solo adventure. The reason for the four stars is that sadly, it did seem during our last stay just prior to covid, the overall condition had slid a bit. Various items were in slight disrepair, and we could tell that certain things had not been kept up since a previous stay (again, this was just prior to covid, and the mansion was bustling with weddings and fully-booked weekends). This gorgeous property so deserves guests and tlc!! Maintaining quality is of course incredibly challenging with a landmark structure; we hope a bit more will be put back into the overall upkeep of this stunning structure. But be that as it may - the homemade breakfasts are always top notch, there's always snacks and hors d'oeuvres and a lovely happy hour, several wood-burning fireplaces to keep the place warm and cozy with the smell of pine and cedar, and the charm of the property and its manor cannot be emphasized enough. Oh! And there are also adjacent A-frame cozy cabins surrounding the property for extended family and friends days; at last visit, guest staying in those adjacent cabins are also welcome to various amenities inside the manor! This was our second stay after coming up in October and the second time around did not disappoint. Amy and Darrin make everyone feel at home as soon as you step inside. We loved that they remembered us from our first visit. We stayed in the Cozy Pine room this time and it was cozy. We also loved that they are dog friendly, as we brought up our greyhound rescue, Indy. The staff was so welcoming not only to us, but to our dog. Indy made herself right at home. Beware the House of Horrors. My son and I made a rsv at this hotel because it advertises itself as a 4 star property. We had the most terrible experience we've ever had at a hotel. The lobby smells like wet rags, the beds are very uncomfortable, sheets and towels are old and smelly, windows are all painted shut. There is no one from management on premises. We arrived to a locked house and hat to call the owner, Darrin, to come from his own house to let us in. At night the front door is open and unlocked. But all this is the good part. The bad part is the owners. I texted Darrin in the morning after our first stay and asked if he would refund the second night if we left early. He said he wouldn't. He asked why we wanted to leave early. I told him the accommodations we disappointing for a 4 star bed and breakfast. Next thing I know he has sent me a text at 8:00 am telling me to leave within ten minutes or he will call the sherif. Checkout is at 11:00, and since he wasn't going to refund our second night we had no intention of leaving. His wife came up knocking frantically on my door and came into the room and yelled, asking us to leave, meanwhile saying I would get no refund. I had to call the police because we felt so unsafe there. In the end we left before checkout time and they said no refund on anything at all. read more

What an amazing place to stay!! This is how you do big bear. Quiet, quaint with the kindest staff. The place is beautifully decorated and all the rooms are unique. They're close to the lake and village but trust me, you won't want to leave the cabin! Cute little game area, couple different sitting areas, all the fire places you can ask for, beautiful wrap around porch and even a kitchen area with complimentary snacks and coffee. I am writing from a vendor perspective ( Wedding Photographer) I shot a wedding here around August of 2016 for the lovely Nick and Amy. The owner/manager of this place was so nice and super informational. I arrived and she showed me around the premises and even showed me a wilderness spot a few blocks behind the actual venue where I was able to capture some amazing " in the middle of nowhere" type photos. The venue itself is gorgeous rustic chic. You are also able to rent the cabin area and stay as well. So is a venue and vacation spot all in one. The best place to stay in Big Bear! My husband and I have been to many bed and breakfasts, and this is on the top of the list. They have wonderful service, big tasty breakfasts, a fun game room, amazing bed rooms, gracious hosts, and you can use their firewood in your room and in the main rooms. They have snacks available 24/7 along with coffee, tea and hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. They've really put a lot of effort into the details and making sure you have everything you could possibly want, down to providing an extra fridge for guests, a whole kitchenette with microwave and sink, glasses, and plastic silverware and plates. We rarely left the house because we loved it so much. We had dinner there and had so much fun playing their games and watching the fire. COVID precautions were taken and the place was very clean. We just had our wedding at Gold Mountain Manor this past weekend, and I cannot begin to express how happy I was with the whole entire weekend. Obviously the whole venue is absolutely adorable. My family spent a lot of time in Big Bear when I was growing up, and there was no where else I could see myself getting married. In my opinion, Gold Mountain Manor is the best wedding venue in Big Bear! When we went to see the Manor it was under about 3 feet of snow in the middle of winter. Cathy gave us the tour and described what everything would look like during July. I couldn't have been any happier. The Manor likes to do a breakfast the morning of the wedding and the morning after. I thought it was so cool to get all of my family members and friends together the morning of my big day. Everyone loved breakfast, and it was the perfect start to the big day. If you book your wedding here use the vendors that they suggest! Erik Redmond was an amazing DJ, and had everyone dancing the whole night. Little Green House already knew what would work perfectly with the venue for the flowers. Renee at the Barn Storm is a hoot, and the food was amazing! I recently attended a wedding here and I would say the venue is absolutely amazing. The staff was very attentive and beyond generous. They were so sweet and helpful throughout the entire event. There wasn't coffee being served at the wedding and one of the staff members went out of her way to grab our pastor's wife a coffee. If that's not excellent service I don't know what is. It was the best experience I could've ever hoped for. Cathy, oh my goodness Cathy. She is AMAZING! The most wonderful kind-hearted accommodating woman to have dealt with while planning my special day. She is the owner of the B&B and she was also our wedding coordinater during our stay. She was so helpful in giving us our options as each vendor goes. We were so happy with all of the vendors that she suggested! Our stay at the manor was truly unforgettable. We booked the house from Thursday to Sunday and each day was perfect! The breakfast they served was delicious and they were always so quick to accommodate anything we needed. Not only was Cathy amazing, her whole staff was just perfect! Everyone was so friendly. The day of our wedding was so beautiful and I was so calm the whole day. I woke up, had breakfast then took a long bath in one of their jacuzzi tubs in the "Ted Dusey" suite. Her staff did such an amazing job taking care of setting up everything and I was lucky enough to have family and close friends help decorate. I did not worry about one thing that day. Cathy took care of everything and made sure it ran so smooth. Not a hick up within the entire day/night. The rooms are all decorated so cute and everything is so comfortable and clean.
