We chose a room with a kitchenette, and even for our short stay, it was a great convenience. Service is a little hit or miss. When we arrived our room was a bit stuffy so we tried to use the thermostat, which kept indicating a low battery. We called the front desk and the man who answered hesitantly said they'd tell maintenence. On our way out for dinner, we stopped by the front desk to remind them of our request and it was the same person who answered the phone. He was surprised and scrambled to find a sticky note to write it down. After all of that, we come back to the room to a note that it's been "fixed." The A/C and heat are controlled on the unit by the window itself, not the thermostat. So why not say that the two times we asked about it? The entrance and exit are towards the road behind the main street through down, which has restaurants, a 7-11, and other places you can easily walk to -- if they had an exit facing the main road. We had to walk around the building, climb over the railing and then make our way to the sidewalk.

The toilet was loose and wobbled every time we used it, and the shower handle was also loose and moved around when adjusting the water temperature. For a newer property, I expected these basic fixtures to be in better condition. The complimentary breakfast was a simple American-style breakfast with a few hot items, which was convenient but nothing particularly special. Overall, the hotel has great potential because it's clean and well maintained in general, but the maintenance issues in our room definitely affected our experience. Hopefully, management will address these problems soon, as this could easily be a 4 star stay with better attention to detail.

They made us feel right at home, which was a great way to start our stay. We booked a room with two queen beds, a fireplace, and a balcony. The lobby is nice, and the hotel has a spacious breakfast area along with an on-site restaurant. Our room was on the first floor, though, and the balcony overlooked someone's backyard, so we didn't really get to enjoy sitting outside. That was probably the biggest disappointment. The room itself was comfortable enough. The beds were decent, and it looked like some of the decor had been updated. The bathroom, however, could definitely use some work. There were patched areas on the walls, cracked baseboards, and it felt a little worn. The hallways could also use a refresh. The game room was a nice surprise. It had a pool table, ping pong, foosball, a few board games, and vending machines. There's also a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which looked like a nice place to relax. Breakfast was included and had a good variety of options, which we appreciated, especially on a busy holiday weekend. Overall, while parts of the hotel felt a little dated and even a bit creepy in places because of the older chateau style, we still enjoyed our stay. For the price we paid during one of the busiest weekends of the year, it was a good value. A few updates would make a big difference, but the excellent customer service and included breakfast definitely left a positive impression.

We would definitely stay here again- we found our perfect Big Bear hotel. And the breakfast was really good, lots of choices- eggs, eggs with veggies, pancake maker, bread and bagels to toast, bacon or sausage. fresh baked muffins, cereal. Oatmeal.......perfect before skiing. And plenty of water all day and night.

He took the time to explain all of the hotel's amenities and made sure we knew about all the fun extras, including Taco Tuesday, movie night for the kids with s'mores, the fire pits, and even the unique beer tap in the lobby that guests can access with their room key. Thanks to Joel, we got to enjoy so much more than just a hotel stay. We had a bit of a rough start to our trip when one of my children got carsick on the drive up. Joel immediately stepped in with cleaning supplies and genuine kindness and concern. His compassion and willingness to help meant so much to me as a mom traveling with two kids. Since my husband was in town for work and couldn't help us the entire time, I was handling the kids on my own and wasn't very prepared for our last-minute trip. Joel went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and helped arrange a room closer to the entrance, which made a huge difference for us. The hotel itself was fantastic. Everything was spotless, the indoor pool was amazing, and the outdoor fire pits and s'mores nights created such a fun family atmosphere. My kids had an incredible time, and we enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to extend it for another night and spend another beautiful day in the mountains. Joel's exceptional customer service truly made this trip special. He is caring, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making guests feel welcome. They even gifted us complimentary mugs and were so kind to our son, giving him a patch for his jacket or hat. That kind of hospitality stands out. And the freshly baked s'mores cookies? Unreal. Warm, gooey, perfectly toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate. Honestly better than DoubleTree cookies -- and yes, even better than the famous Disney park cookies. They're that good. It was a double queen, I went back and informed the front desk and they didn't see my reservation details. Luckily I did have my confirmation email, first they claimed to not see the details of the room and I literally had to show him where to look in the email for the room. He switched out my room for a king size but it had NO fireplace, strike 1. They charged for parking which wasn't in the detail when I booked the room. And if you have a EV car it better be a Tesla( they should provide an adapter for none Tesla cars if I'm paying for parking). Strike 2. There was barely hot water when we took a shower. It was barely warm and we had to double up on the shower. Then this evening 7/28/26 the hot tube was broken with a paper sign saying "out of order" then went back to the room to maybe watch something on their television and the WiFi was down! Strike 3! Here is the thing, don't promise amenities if you can't provide them, and dismiss the guest when asked about it. When I book a hotel anywhere i look for specific things and if your establishment isn't able to provide it then you must accommodate. I won't be booking at this location again. The only good thing is that it's close to the village.

They bought the property in February and opened recently. Still setting up some landscaping. I have reviewed this stay as a soft-open. Loved my room on the second floor of a standalone four-room cabin. Small, well designed, and well fitted. Every appliance is easy to use. There is a Roku remote control. I am the first person ever to stay in this room! Fun squirrels everywhere. It is built on a hillside with good steps and ramps. The entrance from the road had a steep slope that could be challenging in icy conditions. The owners are working on these issues: 1. The guest portal uses a web portal that did not always work well for me. Could not check in online from my iPhone; my VPN blocked it. I had to use a desktop browser. The portal then gave me the password for the keypad on my door but did not send me my room number. 2. There was not enough bandwidth to stream the Roku free movie that I tried to watch on the TV. 3. Unclear if the historic Mansion (from 1920) was open to guests. It was not clear to me where some attractions were, but the owners will provide signage.

The mansion has so much history, is perfect to accommodate multiple families with en suites, huge kitchen, many places to relax, and plenty to do. We had kids from ages 4 to 10. We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. We catered instead of cooking which was so much easier on everyone so we could enjoy each other's company versus cooking. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. We had piles of Alaskan king crab legs and the freshest, tastiest filet. Everything was provided. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. We all got to spend time together with the kids together and not feeling overwhelmed because everything was at our fingertips. Thank you to Laura, Chantal, Irvin and the maintenance crew, Sherri our housekeeper and the magical Edgewood Mansion.

Laura, the owner, does a fantastic job of welcoming you, walking you through the sometimes labyrinthine maze of rooms, and welcoming you to a piece of history. As we travelled during Covid19, the property felt safe, clean and secure and we had no concerns about our health or safety. Highly recommend for people hosting special gatherings, parties, family vacations or special events. Definitely worth it.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place and Amy & Darin, my goodness what a gem. My husband found Gold Mountain Manor while searching for places in Big Bear online and I have always been a little wary of B&Bs because there's the "run-down/rickety" stigma that us millennials hold about them, but these guys know how to run a B&B and everything is so comfortable and clean and updated!!! I came up here to get away and have a break from my kids for two nights and just relax (which I rarely get to do, come on mamas, you know what I mean, AMIRIGHT or amiright?!) SOOO yah... I had pretty high expectations and what do you know, I was still totally blown away. The rooms are fantastic, so much of the old original historical character but VERY clean and comfortable. My bed was so sturdy and the mattress was great, very well done. The clawfoot bathtub was incredible, and wood burning fire place in my room, splendid! The breakfast is out of this world, their service and attention to detail was so appreciated, the common areas so comfy, and there's a wood burning stove in every room, so it's just the sweetest thing feeling so cozy! Lots of books, DVDs, puzzles and games, a piano and a guitar! The veranda and front yard are so pretty, well kept and quiet. But the most fantastic thing was Amy & Darin's hospitality, they literally have thought of everything and they are so generous and helpful and not in your face in an annoying way, like they're very attentive and willing to chat if you want, but they actually leave you alone to enjoy yourself, too! So I'd like to thank Mother Nature and Big Bear for a fantastic weekend! My daughter got married up here on the 5th @ Gold Mountain Manor and it was PERFECT! The whole staff did a great job handling every detail and working with all the catering people my daughter hired. We had wind, rain, thunder, lighting, and TWO earth quakes and still no one had any issues, I would like to know how they pulled off the earth quakes, LOL. We had family in from Boston, Ma. and from Kansas that had never experienced one so they were "over joyed" to have a full California experience, The wedding went off with out a hitch even with road closures and all. The total experience was so awesome my daughter and son in law will have great memories of their wedding day and a lot to laugh about as they recount their day on their anniversary over the many years to come. I would personally like to thank Kathy and her staff at Gold Mountain Manor for the experience and recommend if you ever want to stay at a Bed and Breakfast or need a place to hold a wedding this is it. read more

We recently stayed at Gold Mountain Manor again and had such an amazing time. Big Bear, Calif., is absolutely beautiful, and staying at this 1920s log mansion just adds to the experience. The rich history of the manor and the beautiful grounds, not to mention the graciousness of the hostess and innkeeper Cathy, made for a perfect getaway, as it does time and again. Our room, The Ted Ducey Suite, was just what the doctor ordered for a trip away from the city and work. It's extravagant, yet cozy and warm. The log bed and the in-room Jacuzzi made it even more romantic. One night we had dinner on the veranda. It could not have been more wonderful. The perfect weather, the company, the food and the night air just added to this most spectacular stay at the manor. Cathy and her staff could not have been more hospitable. After just one day of a "Girlfriends' Weekend, I was already planning several return trips with family and friends. Everything was just amazing. Cathy is an exceptionally warm and gracious host -- I really felt as though I was a special guest in her home, which is basically a huge cabin with interesting things to see throughout every room. An enormous veranda porch looks out to the most inviting lawn, with flowering trees and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the birds and the breeze. And as if it wasn't already perfect enough out there, Cathy shows up with a tray of lemonade, iced tea and fresh-baked cookies! Where do I even start. This was me and my husband's first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I cannot even express how amazing our stay was. The owners Amy and Darrin were the most incredible hosts and made our stay so amazing. They took the time to stay and chat with us, get to know us and even came to hang out with us one evening. The breakfast was so delicious and the Manor itself was so absolutely beautiful and the charm of this place is like no where I have ever stayed at before. Each room is so different and unique and the grounds are so peaceful and calming. My husband and I brought a charcuterie spread and enjoyed it out on the veranda and had the best time. We cannot wait to go back and we were so sad when we had to leave. read more

The place is alright......hope you like sugar, everything is very sweet and sugary for breakfast....if I had known I would made a special request, which I learned must be done in advance. We stayed in the "Cozy Pine" room, which I say "dont stay in", it has a leak from the room above, it is the only room on the bottom floor with an adjoining wall to the B&B's kitchen and another adjoining wall to the living room with a piano. The owner was very sweet and has two very cute dogs, the rooms upstairs especially the suites look awesome but I agree with other reviewers a bit pricey especially since afterall it is big bear. read more

The most amazing place we have ever stayed. It is truly a magical spot with the warmest and friendliest of people. This spot is super romantic! GMM went above and beyond to accommodate us when our car broke down and we had to stay an extra night in a snow storm. I plan on continuing to stay at this cozy and loving cabin. I was there skiing last week and am returning in a week to bring my mother for a girls weekend. I would give it 10 stars if possible. Our host, Betsy, makes great breakfast and offers great hospitality. She made us feel like we were home. The cabin and surrounding area is beautiful and there is so much to do on the property alone! I love winter and snow, unfortunately in Los Angeles there is no snow and therefore, as soon as the season comes we go to Big Bear. I skiied at Snow Summit on thanksgiving, it was great, a one mile long run with 1100 vertical and no lift lines. This place is wonderful. All the people are warm and friendly. The staff confirmed that the owner has a clear vision of what the decor should be. A couple had a wedding on the Saturday; they and some guests stayed overnight. It was good to see some of the wedding party at breakfast! Enjoyed stepping onto the paved Rathbun Trail behind the Inn for a short walk The Inn could adjust the security light to not switch on whenever someone drives down Moonridge. The road is busy, so the security light stays on until after midnight and then goes on and off.

The room had a little fireplace, lounge room, large bathroom (no bathtub) and a super cozy bed. The ONLY thing that was less than perfect as that the blanket was a tiny stuffy smelling. We very much enjoyed this B&B. Be sure to check out the Belgian Waffle and the Village just across the way.

I saw nothing "icky" in selecting the specific stone-like accoutrements to complement the theme. There's a tv in the bedroom but why would you even wanna watch tv in a castle garden? COME ON! Loved the vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, flickering lights, ambiance - we put on Celtic music and enjoyed the peace away from the city. This isnt even our first day here I just couldn't wait to update my review. They bought the property in February and opened recently. Still setting up some landscaping. I have reviewed this stay as a soft-open. Loved my room on the second floor of a standalone four-room cabin. Small, well designed, and well fitted. Every appliance is easy to use. There is a Roku remote control. I am the first person ever to stay in this room! Fun squirrels everywhere. It is built on a hillside with good steps and ramps. The entrance from the road had a steep slope that could be challenging in icy conditions. The owners are working on these issues: 1. The guest portal uses a web portal that did not always work well for me. Could not check in online from my iPhone; my VPN blocked it. I had to use a desktop browser. The portal then gave me the password for the keypad on my door but did not send me my room number. 2. There was not enough bandwidth to stream the Roku free movie that I tried to watch on the TV. 3. Unclear if the historic Mansion (from 1920) was open to guests. It was not clear to me where some attractions were, but the owners will provide signage.

The mansion has so much history, is perfect to accommodate multiple families with en suites, huge kitchen, many places to relax, and plenty to do. We had kids from ages 4 to 10. We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. We catered instead of cooking which was so much easier on everyone so we could enjoy each other's company versus cooking. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. We had piles of Alaskan king crab legs and the freshest, tastiest filet. Everything was provided. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. We all got to spend time together with the kids together and not feeling overwhelmed because everything was at our fingertips.
