Just returned from a WONDERFUL 3 days at Pine Haven Cottages (Unit 1) and let me just say, we have decided to make this a yearly tradition for my family of six. The cottage was super clean with parking right outside the front door. We had neighbors our 1st day then found ourselves alone the rest of the trip. A wonderfully peaceful vacation. Check in and check out were super easy and fast. You complete payment in the ski rental shop up front then find your door open with 2 keys on a welcome card on the counter. Good, but.... There is lots of good at Pine Haven Cottages. The little cabin we got was very impressive. It was a studio, but was spaced out very nicely with a full kitchen. There was lots of room and it felt quite spacious. And most importantly, it was CLEAN! I can't tell you how many cabins I've rented in Big Bear and have found out upon arrival that they're super funky and gross inside. That's not the case here- everything was very clean and I felt very comfortable with my 3 year old playing around here. The cabin has a really cool looking huge wood burning fireplace (some cabins in Big Bear are gas only) and a great heater that kept us warm all night. The cabin and the incredibly fair price is enough to earn a solid five stars. So why the slightly lower rating? The ski shop. That's where we had to check in and man, the ladies working that counter had absolutely no idea what they were doing. When I made the reservation, I was told to check in to the ski shop that the family owns on the same property. But the employees working there either were brand new or didn't get the memo. They couldn't tell me where the cabin was, where the keys for it were, or what the wifi password was (which they advertised on their website.) One of them even had to come find me after checking in (somehow they found it then) because they had me sign the wrong thing and needed some paperwork back that I wasn't supposed to have in the first place. Upon checking out, I went in to the let know when we leaving and got a pretty blank stare with a confused "ok...?". No exit receipt or thanks for that matter. I don't know what the disconnect was, but it was my first time visiting Pine Haven and it didn't make me feel that confident that I seemed to know more about the place than the ladies working there. Based on how much I enjoyed our cabin, I would consider visiting again, but the whole check-in experience was really odd and I check out a few other spots before I go back. read more

Place was very quite and nice considering being right off the highway. If your liking for a place to sleep then this is it. In the event of a snow storm or rain storm where you can't get out much then I would consider looking at a Air B&B. That being said it fitted our needs perfectly. Thanks pine haven ! read more

We spent 4 days for New Year's in Pine Haven cottages. We rented the 3 bedroom unit. They are so kind and helpful. Jim and Gail are amazing. I highly recommend renting from them. You will not find better customer service. We plan to go back in the summer. This is our second time renting. Previously my husband and I rented Unit D just for a weekend get away. Our trip was great. We filled the cabin with 10 people and still had plenty of room. Thank you. We will be back. read more

What I really love the most about Pine Have are the owners, Bob and Helen Blauer, (Blauers Ski and Board is right on Big Bear Blvd in front of Pine Haven Cottages). Bob and Helen are an older couple who have owned the cottages for as long as I have been going there. They do things the old fashioned way, check you in themselves and are very, very sweet people. I've shown up several times for late night check in, they are up in there house watching TV and the office is in the front of their house. They sign you into the handwritten ledger and give you your key. If you are weary of a world full of corporate take overs and businesses who don't even know you're a customer, the Blauers are a refreshing change. We've stayed in several of their cabins. Some have fireplaces, every one I've stayed in has had full kitchen. They have single bedrooms and multi for larger groups. The cabins are not luxury cabins but are just fine, not roughing it in my opinion. They are always well kept and very affordable, set back from Big Bear Blvd, but walking distance from most everything. They have an open area for hanging outside, playing games, etc. I've stayed here numerous times and will again. My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at cottage D this past weekend. We were on a business trip for him and the booking manager providing us a night at Pine Haven. Upon pulling up the cottages look small but after entering you realize you're in a small home away from home! Open space seating area with a small sofa and comfy chair, full kitchen (but no kitchen seating), bathroom with single sink and shower. I was immediately drawn to the large raised bed with a heavenly soft comforter and to-die-for fluffy pillows. I was on cloud 9. Next, I went directly to the bathroom. I am a real germ-a-phobe and cannot feel comfortable staying in a place if the bathroom is up up to par. This bathroom was immaculate! No dust, floors felt clean, sink, tub and faucets were spotless. Needless to say I showered in absolute relaxation this weekend. A bit small in the shower but I did not mind as the cleanliness was my priority. We didn't use the fireplace since we didn't have wood to burn but I would highly suggest it if the opportunity came up. Kitchen cupboards were stocked so we had some nice hot cocoa to relax after snowboarding all day after we returned. I did NOT want to get out of bed that next morning. I'd felt like I was in a 5 star resort. And I live in Las Vegas and have stayed in some swanky rooms. This bed alone deserves a 5 star rating. I'm considering contacting the owners and asking them what mattress and pillows they were. I absolutely would stay here again. Too bad the snow season is over. I can NOT wait for next year to come back! read more

We stayed as a family in multiple cabins for a surprise for my sisters bday. We, my husband and 2 teens, had the 2 bedroom cabin (A, i think) it was big and comfortable and super clean. My sister and her hubby and 3 kids had the 3 bedroom which is HUGE and gorgeous. My niece and her kiddos had a studio... kinda small but we all hung out at the 3 bedroom. The hosts were really nice and friendly and helpful. My sister had a great b-day and it was a great place to have multiple families stay. It's right on/off the main drag but still quiet and feels like you are in the mountains.... we had a great time and hope to stay again if the damn virus goes away. Decided to come to Big Bear with my girlfriend for a small pre-Christmas Getaway, and I cannot be more happy with the location we chose! From the start, the staff were very respectful and kind. Jim was a very courteous and friendly man who showed us our cabin. We stayed in Cabin G, which was definitely enough space for my girlfriend and I. Make sure to bring some goodies to cook or bring your cookie sheet to bake cookies; buy some firewood and enjoy the lovely fire. Definitely coming back to this lodge when back in Big Bear! read more

We recently stayed here for a weekend and had a great experience. We arrived very late at night and the owner kindly let the lights on and the door unlocked for us, as soon as we opened the door we were welcomed by a nice smell of pine and a warm room. The cottage was spotless clean and very nicely decorated. The cottage we stayed at was very spacious and had a fireplace, which we did not use, a clean bathroom (albeit a bit outdated) and a kitchen stocked with pans and the main utilities. We even had coffee! The only minor problem was the room heater. It made very loud, sudden noises and starled us on several occasion, even while we were asleep. The toilet paper is very thin and I would have loved to have a shower cap included in the nice amenities they offered. We also had a television set and complimentary wi-fi (the connection was not so good but not a big deal as we could relax away from the outside world). The cottage is in a nice pine haven and it is possible to park your car in front of the door. We would definitely stay here again. read more

We had an awesome stay here at Pine Haven. Very quiet location and most importantly CLEAN. We stayed in cabin "A" June 28-30th and it was a great size for us. It's hard to get ahold of them, but certainly not impossible because it's a family run business. My family also owns their own business, so we understand completely. Great little cottage with all the necessary amenities. My daughter loved the little plastic playhouse outside. She spent a lot of time playing in it that weekend. Clean, affordable, cute and quiet! I have stayed here a few times in the past and stayed here again recently over the weekend. Once again I left Pine Haven Cottages extremely satisfied and wanting to come back. Cabin A is super cozy and "homey" feeling. Did I mention the location is perfect? Not far from snow summit bike park and not far from the village, very central between the two. I just called because they were the only hotels that had a vacancy sign. Because I have 2 kids the wouldn't rent the room to me. They said the room was to small. I said I would take it. Then they said they were only renting it for 2 nights, at a great rate. I said I would take it even tho I only needed it for one. She said sorry and hung up. I would recommend turning off the vacancy sign if you truly didn't want to rent the room. read more

What a hidden treasure this place is!!!! I called a week before my stay and Gail, the manager, informed me about the openings that she had. She mentioned that they were busy individually remodeling and modernizing each of the cottages. The units that were available had very good accommodations from her description standpoint and exactly what I was looking for. I mentioned to her that I would be coming in late. This was not a problem for the place. She had the lights on in the unit turned on and the place well kept and smelling, ...PINEY! VERY Quiet, secluded, and very cozy, the cottage I was assigned and walked into was indeed that....A PINE HAVEN. I searched and searched all around the place for the familiar scent while exploring the individual nuances of my cottage. Impeccable bedding, clean carpets, very clean bathroom, and a kitchen fir for cooking! I had a couple of friends join me on this trip and we each had separate accommodations. One had a large fireplace/hearth in the master suite with an attached bathroom. Another had separate sleeping quarters with a full kitchen AND living area. I enjoyed my two night stay in the cottages. everything you can every want, need and the location was perfect for my excursions throughout the City. One note above all is that the owners Jim and Gail were the best owners you could possibly want to have on any stay outside your home. Their efforts to make my stay welcoming exceeded that of many high end hotels. I know exactly where I'm staying next visit around. MY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: - a special late check in time with lights on - quiet and secluded room - fresh clean atmosphere - immaculate modern bathroom - down pillows and wonderful comforters - very clean linens - full kitchen! - even a pine scent! the last thing i want to state is that my room was not the remodeled one/painted one, or so the managers said. Just spent the weekend in beautiful big bear the weather was wonderful not to cold. The fall leaves are amazing to see. Our cottage # H was perfect from the big and warm front room with huge couch and cozy fireplace. To all the great cozy bedrooms and beds. There was 6 girlfriends who were glad to spend our friends 70 th birthday together. We are a little picky on were we stay. But , this was perfect, but of course the weekend went to fast. Our family has stayed here quite a few times. We sometimes rent half to almost all the units. It is a great place for our family gatherings. All the units are very well maintained, and very clean. Even though it's on the main road through town, it is off the road just enough to feel like you are secluded. Great play area for kids to ride their bikes or play. Volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, basketball court on site. BBQs near all units. Smaller units to 2 bedrooms. We love it here and so will you. read more

My family and I rented a couple of cabins just this past weekend. The staff is extremely friendly. The minute we arrived we felt welcomed. We arrived just after 7:00 pm and the staff had the porch lights turned on for us, the heater was turned on for us and the cabin was VERY clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you can possibly need! We had an awesome weekend and will definitely be staying here again! What put the cherry on top - My husband forgot his car and house keys in the cottage. A few hours after we checked out..... we received a phone call from the owner letting us know he was putting them in the mail for us. Thank you Pine Cottages for the warm hospitality. Great place to stay. Jim the owner is awesome and very friendly. So is his crew that runs the rental store. We rented two snowboards for our boys and stayed in cabin C for two nights. We rented several cottages for my daughter's wedding. Gayle and her husband, who runs the ski shop next to the cottages, were very helpful with our changes as more relatives were added. They were flexible about when we could check in and leave and even found an ironing board for us when needed. We left some items behind and they are shipping them to us. The cottages are roomy, rustic, and clean and the wooded area is pretty. It is across the street from the lake and restaurants. There are decks or patios for each cottage which made it easy to visit with each other and there are complete kitchens as well. We were very comfortable and are thinking of coming back for a family reunion. read more

Just stayed up at Pine Haven Cottages, we have been staying here for more than 10 years.We were heart broken to learn of the passing of The Blauers, but their kids are keeping it going. Found this gem on YELP. I called for a reservation for the following day (holiday weekend) and they had a room available for just the 1 night we were staying. Everything written is true. Very clean and comfortable. Nicest owners. They take great pride in keeping the property very well kept. Will definitely keep this on my list to revisit. Very close to the downtown area. My husband and I wanted to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in Big Bear Lake. We had gone there on our honeymoon and decided to go back. We stayed at the Pine Haven Cottages and could not have been happier. We stayed in Cabin D. This is a cozy attached cabin in a perfect location, close to everything. This cabin has a beautiful fireplace, which you need to supply your own wood. No problem. Comfortable living area with a loveseat that makes into a small bed and a recliner that is super comfy. The king bed was comfortable with a down comforter and perfect pillows. It has a small kitchen that is well stocked with a small fridge, stove , toaster, and coffee pot. Coffee is supplied for your convenience. This place was spotless and the furniture is fairly new. We will definitely stay there again. read more
