Some of the best ramen and Japanese dishes that I've ever had. (I've had a lot) This is a seven…read morestar restaurant, with the exception of one thing. The food was perfect. The service was on point. They have a massive whiskey bar downstairs. They have an excellent menu of craft cocktails. They also have excellent mocktails. I will critique their bourbon selection only because they have a number of bourbons that are 18+ years old that they're trying to sell for Scottish and Japanese prices which are based on reality. Bourbon is not any good out of the barrel past 12 to 14 years. Corn is not the same as grains. The sugar is degrade and get dark after 14 years in spite of some companies selling some of their older swill, trying to get rid of it as premium. They were very nice. I gave the bartenders and recommendations of things that actually are worth that kind of money in the bourbon world. There was plenty to find that was not expensive and quite excellent. The only negative? The Host stand at the top of the stairs needs people who have more pleasant personality. How you greet people in the restaurant is absolutely imperative. It sets the tone for the whole meal. The whole experience. They seem to think that their job is to shoot people off because the restaurant is booked, but they do it in a manner that will make sure people don't come back. It's a little too New York curt. Smiling, and some good grace, would not hurt either of them. When they tell you, it's time to be seated, engaging people and making eye contact would certainly also help them look a little more human as well. Do make reservations. Otherwise, the wait time can be very long. Outstanding food! Absolutely worth passing through the gargoyles at the front door

First they said they were moving things around implying it would be a few minutes. 15 minutes later I went up and he said 5-10 minutes to wait. 15 minutes later still nothing and they tell me another 30-45 minutes and acted appalled that I had checked in. Not worth dealing with them so I left. Ambiance seemed great but ramen isn't worth rude staff so I left.

This place is cozy, cute, and has an absolutely mind blowing craft cocktail selection that frequently rotates. I am big into mixology & craft cocktails. Sadly the scene in Anchorage for cocktails is pretty bleak. We only have a handful of places with a truly decent bar program. With liquor licenses being absolutely insane to purchase I understand why most restaurants opt for a beer & wine only license, but it still makes me sad. This is a distillery first so they are producing their liquors on site. They honestly don't have to have the cocktail program that they do seeing as they aren't a bar, and yet they are absolutely killing it in the creativity department. On my most recent visit I convinced my new yelp friend, Jasmine, to head over here for some Black Friday libations. She entrusted me to be her first espresso martini drinking partner so I had to deliver. When I saw Anchorage distillery had one on their December cocktail list I knew we had to try it. I was not disappointed. It was an extremely well balanced espresso martini. I also got a cinnamon moonshine cocktail called ugly Christmas sweater. This one had toasted marshmallow & maple syrup. The flavors were a bit more watered down in this one, but I think that's just because it was over shaken. Overall this cocktail program is impressive. The bartenders are knowledgeable & efficient. The space is also cozy. Next time you're looking to try a new spot head on over to Anchorage Distillery!

We have been making this a regular stop before dinner lately & for our Sunday outing. Drinks are very well made & many good options to choose from. With mixed drinks & tastings Whisky, Gin, vodka. Also a little retail area to purchase all there products including shirts, sweatshirts & glass wear, drink mixing bundles of some of there specialty drinks. Staff is amazing very friendly, informative & good at making the drinks. Also a fun spot to bring your out of town visitors for a couple drinks.

The oysters were some of the best I've had! I ordered the scallops as well as two others and we thought these were Gordon Ramsey approved!! My spouse had the Mahi and he said he wouldn't order it again said it was a little fishy. Others ordered the grilled pork chop and the plates were pretty clean when finished so I would say excellent. We shared a couple bananas foster with ice cream and then topped off dinner with the cafe Diablo which is always a treat. With most of us happy with our meal I would say it was a 4 out of 5! Highly recommend coming here for a special occasion.

We were traveling for business and trying to squeeze three people into the bar area, so we knew it might be a bit of a challenge. We eventually made it work, but service took a while to get rolling. That said, once it did start, it got really good. Our server FraniP did a great job. It took a little bit for her to engage and warm up with us, but once she did, she was attentive, friendly, and made the experience feel much more welcoming. Food-wise, we were impressed. Two of us ordered the burger and it was honestly excellent--made with a blend of ribeye and tenderloin, and you could taste the difference. Really well constructed and flavorful. I went with the mushroom soup and a Caesar salad, and both were solid choices; fresh, satisfying, and better than your average "safe" menu items. The cocktail selection was also strong, but the smoked old fashioned was way too sweet. It needed to be toned down on the sugar to let the bourbon and smoke shine through. Overall: great food, great drinks selection, and a good bar atmosphere.. just be prepared for a slower start on service during peak nights.
