Don't go here it is not good anymore. We just went for lunch and ordered Queso Fundido and what we got was canned cheese. Also the guacamole is market price so ask as they change it. We ordered house margaritas but when the bill came the server charged us for the Organic ones. When I asked she said she made a mistake but when we talked to the manager he said new ownership has things running different. Was very confused about that statement but the fact he made the drink and when asked about the tequila used it wasn't what was in the organic. We were the only ones in the restaurant and service was bad, there was a light that was flickering that none took care of and the ambiance was not great at all. I've found this place because I saw on instagram that they were having an event where you can get a flash tattoo here. While waiting for the tattoo, I had lunch there. I ordered the birria tacos and it was delicious! There's so much meat on the tacos! As soon as we were seated we were given chips and salsa. It didn't take long for the food to come out either. The place was almost empty but we had very slow service, a lot of things forgotten like napkins, silverware, etc. Our server clearly was not entirely present. This is not your normal Mexican restaurant, and you may find the menu to be Confusing. If you're just looking for tacos, this is not it. If you're looking for sopes, and eccentric southern cuisine, then this is it. The salsa that comes with the chips is warm and tastes like onion soup. Nothing like the salsa most people are used to. The $6 margarita special is not bad. All of that to say that the food is actually really good. We ordered the appetizer sample as that really seemed like the safest bet. I came here on a Sunday and the food was amazing and definitely was a cute inside/outside vibe given the area. The birria tacos were a hit and the fried plantains as an appetizer were really good too. My husband had the steak fajitas and said they were good but when he tasted my birria tacos and dipped them in the consommé he was sold about coming back for those. Note: group order I ordered the carne asada tacos. they are such a classic dish and this place makes their tacos perfect. Don't forget to put the spicy sauces and lime on top of the tacos to get every yummy bite. I'm very impressed! Late lunch and the place was completely empty. Hard to gauge when it's off hours. Ordered the alambre and added a grilled jalapeño to it. Food came out piping hot with a side dish or guacamole/lettuce/tomatoes and shredded cheese. And 3 flour tortillas. The side of jalapeño ended up being two full grilled jalapeños. The portion was huge and could have fed two comfortably. Birria tacos: crispy, cheesy, and flavorful. It was also filled with alot of meat too! Had to add some salt for more flavor though (4/5) Lengua tacos: one of my favorite tacos to order becuase lengua is so tender. Overall I thought the lengua tacos lacked flavor; however, once i added salt it was 10x better. The lengua tacos also came with a side of rice and beans making this a pretty big meal. The restaurant wasn't even packed compared to other restaurants, although maybe they aren't used to attending such a decent crowd. Great margaritas - we got the Azteca and the skinny with tajin rims and they were excellent. No strong tequila taste so they could definitely be dangerous! A bit costly at $13 and $14 but they seem to use fresh ingredients. For an appetizer, we got the queso and thought that while it was overpriced, it was very good. The chicken fajitas were very good and the birria tacos were classic (from my limited knowledge). Standard prices for those. Patio had a nice vibe and the staff was all very nice. If you have a choice definitely pick the patio as it's still warm in the winter and isn't as bright as inside. Our waiter made me feel like I was picking the best things on the menu which is always a good feeling when ordering at a restaurant for the first time. We hadn't even opened our menus before the chips and salsa came to the table. The waitress got our drink order right away and was on top of it. This was a great experience! Our server was very friendly and attentive. We went on a Saturday around 2:00 and was lucky enough that we were seated right away. They have patio style doors and on this day it was a bit of an overcast but still warm so they had the doors propped open. It was a perfect day because it was hot or cold. We started with the Mexican platter and queso dip. Everything was delicious and filling. With the Mexican platter you get to choose your meets and you can have a combination of steak or chicken. Had lunch with a co-worker at Uncle Rico's today and it was an excellent experience!  The staff there were all very friendly and attentive.  They knew the menu and did an excellent job telling us about it, as well as making suggestions.  The place looks great!  They're actually building a cool patio area that will have open an "breezeway" when the weather is nicer for some pretty decent alfresco dining! Their menu is pretty good and they have all the typical Mexican eats.  They executed everything we got perfectly!  Their free salsa and chips are excellent, as they are warm and fresh and the salsa is not only warm, but smokey as well.  Their guac was really good and featured very fresh avocados!  Their enchiladas platter was excellent, so was their taco platter and they do al pastor the right way, with pineapple!  They serve a side of some really tasty rice and a cool presentation of their refried beans with their platters too. Found this place a few weeks ago. Best tacos I've had in VA yet. Gorditas also delicious (not pictured). Great atmosphere, TVs on all walls,great music. Amazing customer service! All of the staff are friendly and helpful when it comes to menu suggestions. They all check on you, not just your server. Service is quick. All the sauces are fresh, all the food is so tasty. Very clean as well. I have also done take out, and their service is just as good over the phone! Thry work around your schedule to perfectly time the food so it's fresh and hot when you pick it up.
