Had taken our Civic for two issues - (1) car wouldn't start and (2) we've been seeing little fluid leakage on our garage floor. (1) We thought that the battery might have run out but according to Cinco Auto apparently there was an issue with the starter - took their word for it and had it replaced for ~$500. (2) As far as the leakage was concerned - Cinco Auto said that the power steering fluid was leaking and cost of fixing it would be ~$800. Too expensive. We decided to get a second opinion and took the car to a different place to get it checked. We found out that the oil cap was just loose and they fixed it at no cost. Now we are not even sure if the starter issue was for real. Recommendation - Wish there was a better way to hold Auto mechanics accountable. Hope this Yelp review helps customers make better informed decisions. Don't believe whatever you are told - get your vehicle checked out at couple places before investing in the repairs. Really disappointing experience today. I took my wife's RX 350 for wheel alignment and rotation today to this shop. 15 min I left the car, Jim (shop manager apparently) called me and said that my power steering fluid is dirty and I need to pay to flush my power steering. I appreciate preventive services. However my car does not have a replaceable/flushable fluid in power steering. It is electric. It certainly looked like they wanted to sell me something I don't need to fix something I don't even have. When I told Jim that this car does not have power steering fluid, he pretended to speak with "my mechanic" and later on said "it was a mistake". They said their recommendation was "based on the mileage". Very disappointing. I had my all three cars serviced in that shop in the past. No more. They lost my business. read more

So we used to live in Katy. Now we live in Louisiana. Our daughter drives an '09 Corolla and it has 130,000 miles on it. She attends University of Houston and depends upon that car. A couple times she stopped into Cinco Auto to have things like headlights or tail lights looked at. I actually think one time they put a new tail light bulb in for free for her. Anyway recently she has engine code issues. They correctly diagnosed it. Part needed was expensive but when I googled it I saw their part price was fair. I was concerned about labor quote and I called them. They assured me they would "get it on the lift and confirm more accurate labor estimate" based on our discussion. I want them to make money just not fleece me in the process! Anyway they did EXACTLY what they promised and they saved my daughter labor money. They made their just profit and I'm glad. That's how it should be. Could not be happier with Cinco Auto. Good people. This is the kind of place you trust your daughter and her car to. I'm grateful for the good service. Thank you. read more

Oil change took 40mins. Not to bad and the place is pretty clean. Easy to wait 40mins with two flat screens and nice waiting room. We realized we had a $5 off coupon after we paid so the lady behind the desk (dark haired with glasses) made a stink about having to void the transaction in order to apply the coupon. Would've been a 5 star experience but she wasn't happy about having to ring us up a second time. She made it seem like this was a overbearing task that required manual labor with a shovel. The mechanic came in and took care of the transaction for us and he did it with ease...just a few clicks of the mouse. read more

Yesterday my car suddenly broke down near Cinco Auto and I believed it was a dead battery. Given that I had been to Cinco Auto in the past for inspections and oil changes and always received great service I opted to call them to see if they would be willing to come jump my car. They graciously agreed to do so and were there quickly. Once the car was jumped, I promptly drove to Cinco Auto where they quickly serviced my car and changed the battery. They were not only professional and helpful but kind and caring. I will continue going to Cinco Auto and recommend it to others. Great customer service!! read more

Do not go here!!!! They are theives!!!! They take advantage of women they know do not know a lot about cars. I went to get an oil change and they made up this whole story about how my car needs a special synthetic blend oil which costs $85 and this was for a corolla. Ended up paying that and then went to fire stone down the street later on and got my oil change for $15 with the same synthetic blend oil. Crooks!!!!! Stay away!!! read more

We used to go to Mason road for oil changes. We decided to come here for two reasons. It's closer and they always have the oil filter we need for our specialty mini van. The service is great and consistent and very fast. It's convenient and I don't ever need to return to Mason for servicing my car. Great company and great management. Very poor customer service from the manger, Jim (the guy shown in the picture). Called before going in and spoke with someone by the name of Eddie. Eddie advised that I come in and ask for him ONLY since he was familiar with my issue. When we arrived we told Jim what Eddie had said and he insisted that we tell him what the issue was. After explaining what was previously explained to Eddie, he finally says, "well oh maybe I should talk to Eddie" DUHHHHHHHHH. Jim was not very polite to me and after I told him what the issue was he acted as if I was speaking another language...I then asked my husband to explain the issue...My husband explained the issue THE EXACT SAME WAY and all of a sudden Jim knew what he was talking about. Eddie shouldn't have told me to ask for him if he wasn't equipped to handle the issue and Jim needs better people skills....He was oh so polite to my husband but very rude to me...I'll never go back! read more

I went to CincoAuto on CInco Ranch and Gaston for an oil change. Yes they were friendly, the office was clean and neat, and the service was fast. I was asked to go back to my car and talk to the tech. He went over a check and said everything looked good and we recommend a Fuel Induction Cleaning ($80.00) - It will help your mileage. I said no, I only want an oil change. A bit more back and forth and I repeated no, I want to talk to my husband about it first. He did all this while showing me his clipboard with the extra work highlighted. Without anything else he asked me to sign the form. I thought my signing was in agreement with what I said. That I don't want this work done, just the oil change. But no, he didn't black that part out / delete the extra work and I didn't even bother to see that the rest of the page had the totals all down in black and white. He essentially showed me a bill for everything, including any extra suggested work. I thought I was taking a form home to show my husband, to let him know what CincoAuto recommended. Not signing in effect an estimate of everything to be done including the oil change -- Which is what I only wanted. So no. CincoAuto was dishonest. The tech knew what I wanted and didn't want in servicing my car. Did he listen to me? No. He went ahead and did work I didn't want. I don't care where you're coming from on pushing business. You don't do work that the owner doesn't want done. I don't care what forms are pushed under my nose RIGHT AFTER I said no twice. The tech should have deleted what I didn't want done and rework the bill. In fact I should have only had an oil change on there in the first place. And yes I did present this all to my husband and no we will never be returning to CincoAuto again. Auto places are a dime a dozen. I went to CincoAuto for an oil change, state inspection and to check on a rattle noise under the car. I told the clerk that the noise was more prominent when cold and maybe when turning the wheel. I received a called 10 mins later by the manager Jim that the rattle was caused by a busing in the steering column and that it is a common issue with my make and model. The repair will require a complete disassembly and rebuild to replace it even though the part itself was $15.00. The total for parts and labor was $666. Although I was not sure that was the cause he seemed confident and I agreed to the repair. Once I picked up the car and paid the invoice, on the way home the rattle was still there. Unable to return that day, I went home and did some research and found that a "Rattle" in the car is usually a lose heat shield and the steering problem they said was the cause, makes a Knocking\Clicking sound and would cause issues steering. I had no problems steering. I returned the next day and informed them rattle was still there and that to check the heat shield. They put the car up and sure enough it was a loose heat shield hitting the muffler and fixed in 5 secs with a crowbar. To say I was upset that I paid over $600 dollars for something that took 5 secs to fix was an understatement. The manager was not there that day so I returned the next day and Jim did not seem to think I deserved a refund or any compensation since they completed the "work". He was unwilling to be helpful. I would think a should would have a policy for these situations as wells as ask me questions to better diagnose a problem instead of assuming they know what it is. I need brakes done in my other car which he could have offered a deal but did not. Instead I took that car to Dillon's Automotive down the street who did a great job and have a satisfaction guarantee and my business from now on. read more

Just had a terrible customer service experience. Went in at 8:30 for a state vehicle inspection, about 10:00 I see there is a missed call made at 9:40 and a message on my phone that I had given them the wrong key off my key ring. The thing is I had been sitting in the lobby the whole time, for an hour and a half, within site of the garage and the service manager who I had originally handed the key. So I go out to him and asked him why he called me when I was sitting right there in the lobby the whole time? He just basically ignored my question and said something lame like "we were wondering what you were in there for..." and asked for the correct key. I guess he just forgot who I was? I was just some guy hanging out in the lobby for no reason? Also explains why a bunch of people who came in after me for inspections kept getting done first. I just asked for my key back and left, I wasn't going to pay them for ignoring a customer. read more

I have brought my teenage daughter's car here (that she drives back and forth school) for the past three years and let them service the old car per their recommendation, every time....from oil change, annual inspection, and maintenance. All those times, I have been very satisfied with their fast and efficient service. Today, I brought the car in for inspection and was told that that the cracked tail light (same condition for the past 3 years), although functional will not pass. For the record, I saw new workers that I have not dealt with before. I wonder how they let it pass the previous 2 years. Also per their courtesy check, I need to change a pump and more. The same car was at their shop 2 months ago for an oil change with no problems. I went to another auto shop and the car passed the state inspection. It is sad to have this experience today when the have always been consistently good in the past. read more

Took much too long to inspect my vehicle. Was there about an hour. Didn't feel like anyone was really concerned with my time.

I am very pleased and impressed with Cinco Auto. My son's Toyota Camry needed a new starter so I called for an estimate and Jim got back to me promptly with a competitive quote. I brought the car in at around noon. Soon after, Jim called to confirm the issue (yes, it was the starter) before they started working on it, and also brought to my attention other things I needed to know about the car. He called again when the car was ready (well before 3 pm) and the charge was exactly as quoted with no surprises. We had been using a Toyota Dealership for services on our cars for years but will most definitely consider Cinco Auto in the future. They did an excellent job, were professional and courteous, with great communication, quick turnaround time and competitive prices. Besides, the shop was clean, comfortable and much closer to us than the dealership. read more

Very disappointed in these folks. Took our car in for some repair work, and they tried to charge 3x the actual cost of the 2 parts that my car needed. I called the dealership for pricing, then had them call the dealership to confirm. $380 for a $155 part is absolutely a rip-off. The other part is listed at $12 and they charged $41. Wish that my first experience with this shop hadn't been so poor. Definitely do not recommend them and will not return. read more

Will not return. Took my vehicle in for a check engine light, which when I called ahead they explained would cost $100 which they said would go toward the cost of any repairs made. When they could not find anything wrong with the car, they took my money and sent me on my way. Had to take my vehicle back a few days later because the light came back on. They did not charge another diagnostic, but this time they said it would cost $350 dollars because they "found" what was wrong. They never credited me the cost of the diagnostic already paid, but I went ahead and did the repair thinking this would be end of it. Fast forward a few more days, check engine light comes back on! Took vehicle back and was told it would be another $350 to fix it. Needless to say, I took my car to another shop who thankfully did not ask me to pay another diagnostic but confirmed that it did require the repair they quoted--we'll never know if I really need to spend the 1st $350 on the other repair. Never mind the hours I took off of work and be without a car for hours to take my car there THREE times. Just can't trust my car to people who can't get things done right the first time. read more

Took a Toyota corolla for an oil change$40-is somewhat steep for an oil change. Was called informing me that the air filters were dirty, both the engine and cabin. The engine one was $20 and the other $40, I told them just to replace the cabin one for $40, as even I can go to auto zone, buy a ten dollar filter and switch it out. Had my husband also speak to the technician and once again say only to do the cabin one. Well, after paying the bill and driving off I realized they changed the wrong filter, the cheaper one. I called and the only solution they gave me was to come and they would put my old filter back in and change the correct one, of corse I'd have to pay for the correct filter. And said that is was a miss communication, yes, miscommunication on their end! So I had my husband call since they clearly see a woman and try to take advantage of us, and low and behold they were willing to put the other filter in and take $10 off the price from the other filter they weren't to replace in the first place! read more

I went in for a full service oil change today. The receipt shows the items that were checked or filled. I noticed the Waster Fluid says filled, I checked it when I got home and it was NOT filled. It's disappointing, because it's hard to trust if other items on the list was actually completed, when a simple top off of fluid was not. read more

I have had many problems with this company. Starting April 2011 they replaced my radiator and suspiciously right after that my gaskets blew out and they wouldn't take responsibility for it. It gets better; that damn radiator gave out on me May 2012 so I took it in and the guy told me that the warranty was only good for a year and that there was nothing they can do to help. Burned a hole in my pocket these people are a DISGRACE to car mechanics, how they have stayed in business is beyond me. I suggest Christian Brother's they're just down the road and HONEST. Horrible experience. No doubt these guys are very welcomed but this is another strategy how to rip off. I went for state inspection. First they said these are things you need to replace to get state inspection passed. I fix it through them thinking that I don't have a choice. Later, they told me we can't passed your inspection and charged me for everything. I went to other place just after that and they did it in 15 mins and told me the things you have fixed in your car was not required for state inspection. Please beware. read more

The worse place I have ever been! Went to there in Nov., asked them to change the oil and rotate tires. The guy who did the job made scratches on the back of my rear mirror while driving to the car lift for tire rotation. I was in a hurry to work, didn't notice it until I found the rear mirror was bent over while I was driving on highway. Went back the next day and talked to the manager. He just pretended nothing happened and said I could fix that small problem by myself. My car started leaking after they did the oil change, which messed my garage and I have to do oil change again next month. They did such a bad job to my car that I have to share my story even after this long time. Don't be fooled by their small coupons distributed everywhere and all the time. They made their listed prices higher than normal, that's it! If I could, I would like to give them NEGATIVE FIVE STARS. read more

Had a horn problem that I took to them that I thought the dealer was overcharging for. It turned out that Cinco was higher than the dealer. Cinco wanted to keep the business so they dropped the price to get closer to the dealer price and was able to do same day service where the dealer needed to order the part. The horn worked but the steering wheel was misaligned from when they took it off and replaced it. They promptly went to work realigning the steering wheel. read more

I was very dissatisfied the last time I brought my new Jeep in for the first oil change. I asked for a simple oil change and to change my wiper blades.... normally this is not a big deal and shouldn't be more than $40-50 depending on the type of blades.... but these rip- off artists wait until they completed everything and I was checking out to slap me with a $90 bill!!!!!!!! Yes an oil change gone way wrong - I asked how the heck it got that high and had to have him repeat it to me from my DISBELIEF. Without any hesitation he simply tells me it was because of my air filter being so new and they just got them in but normally dont have them because they are so new.... I was so disgusted I left and will NEVER GO BACK!! I have since gotten my oil changed and there hasn't ever been any charge over $40. They are very nice and the place is clean but believe me when I say they are ripping you off- they think because it is a nice area they can charge outrageous prices... very wrong.... save yourself some money and go elsewhere! read more

First time customer, they charge more than the dealership for oil change. They want to clean the fuel injector which i immediately said 'no' because i never had it done on my other cars which are 10 years old. They didn't bother to put the reminder sticker on the windshield. I will never go back there again. read more

I came to Cinco auto for a state inspection, and arrived at 7:30 when they opened. I was third in line and the man said there would be a 45 minute wait, which was fine. However, after 50 minutes my car still had not moved from the parking lot. Then, somebody who had arrived 15 minutes after me for the same service (inspection only) was checked out. I realized that they probably had misplaced my key, so I went to the front counter and asked about where I was in line. The man was rude and stated that he had a lot of people that morning, and he "promised that all of the cars were being taken care of in the order that people came." I stated that this man checking out came in after me, and he still did NOT make an effort to check where I was in line. I sat down (should not have) and waited 15 more minutes and another person who arrived 30 minutes after me was checked out. I then returned to the counter to ask the second man about my car. He actually did go to check on it and suddenly my car was gone from the parking lot and they finally started working on it. What should have been a 45 minute trip turned into an hour and a half, and the worst part was being blown off and not being taken seriously. I give this a 2 star review instead of 1 because at least the second worker actually checked on my car when I asked, and the inspection time was fast. Will not be coming back here. read more

These guys are great. Cody and Jim are the managers and the most helpful and nice people. I have been taking both of our cars there for service and repairs and will continue to do so. Today, Cody really helped me out of a pickle. I had a job interview downtown and could not be late. My wife had left the windows open in my car last night and when I tried to close the passenger side, while pulling out of the garage, the window would not move! I was panicking, because there was no way I could park my car downtown with a window half rolled down! I pulled into Cinco Auto, walked into the shop and said I need some help quickly. Cody didn't miss a beat, pulled up their loaner vehicle and said get going, we will call you when we know what the problem is. Three hours later, I pulled back into Cinco Auto and Cody told me that nothing was wrong, except that the window lock button was engaged! I was too nervous about my interview to even remember that there was a lock button, so needles to say, I felt pretty stupid. The Cinco team had the chance to bill me for a repair that did not need to be done, but instead proved to be super honest and at the end did not even charge me for the use of the loaner! Wow.. Think again before coming here for car maintenance. They have possibly the worst customer service out of all the auto shops I've been to. I arrived at 4:30 with the understanding that they close at 6 on Friday. I went to them for a quick evaluation of what is wrong with the car and clearly stated that I'm not here to get any work done the same day. I understand and respect your closing time and with stopping in without an appointment, it's already appreciated enough. However, things went down from there. It was now 6:20 and they were shutting the doors preparing to leave. The receptionist and I'm assuming manager then decides to ask me. "What are you here for? We are closed." You could just imagine how angry I was to have wasted two hours for nothing at this point. The manager then says that they thought I was dropping off the car to come back and pick it up. This place honestly is a scam, if you have hundreds or up to a thousand dollars to spare, take the risk and come here. I was sitting in the lobby and it surprised me how they take advantage of some ladies that drop off their vehicles, this lady was surprised her total came out to be double what she expected because supposedly they fixed things that weren't mentioned to her until she came to pick up her car. No one needs to support a shady business that probably won't be in business much longer if this keeps up. The receptionist definately needs training because how do you keep someone in the lobby for two hours and not question what they are there for until it's closing time. Makes no sense to me. This auto shop deserves zero stars but fortunately for places like this yelp wants to credit at least one out of pity. You can also check out their other location and it has horrendous reviews so beware! This is a long review to read but you'll be grateful saving money going elsewhere. read more

The first time I went was great, until I met the service manager. He seems to be knowledgeable but arrogant. I was trying to find a good mechanic shop, they did a free quick inspection of my BMW for any problems since I found a few drops of oil a few days after my recent oil change (with another shop), and they found none. A week or so later I had an engine light come on, after a 100 diagnostic fee, it appeared to be some with the emissions system; they suggested I take it to the dealer. I was given my money back after complaining about the service manager's customer service, since they could not find or fix the problem (there was a dealer service bulletin). A few weeks later, one of the fans in my car was working really hard, I called BMW, they said it was most likely a fan clutch but they wanted too much to fix the issue, so I called CincoAuto and again tried to deal with the arrogant service manager (maybe the first time he was having a bad day). I requested the price for the fan clutch, they said they would call me in about 30 minutes with the price, it took 4 hours; then the service manager informs me that my BMW does not have a fan clutch. So I called the guys @ BMW (4 different locations) they informed me it does have a fan clutch; I also checked online and it did indeed have a fan clutch. When I called the service manager back, he was positive that it did not have a fan clutch (he was adamant he was correct). I decide, since BMW dealer works on these cars and seemed to know more than Mr. Service Manager, I would take it to the BMW dealer to diagnose the fan issue, they found the water pump was going out (I did not expect CincoAuto to find this) but they also found two major oil leaks; I asked the BMW techs how long it was leaking, they said for a good while. I then asked how hard it was to find, they said it was visible just by looking under the hood. Now, I think CincoAuto should have found this during the few times it was there. During the first time I have my car at CincoAuto, for over 3 hours, I told the service manager that the oil level had dropped a little since my last oil change (1/4 to 1/2 quart) and reminded him of the oil in my driveway, he said I don't need to worry about that, since they didn't see any signs of an oil leak. The oil level is irrelevant. I like the owner and everyone else I have meet but they need to either get a new service manager or he needs some customer service training. I don't think he likes being questioned about the things he says and doesn't always communicate correctly. So if you accept most everything he says without question, I don't think you will have a problem, otherwise find another shop read more
