Dropped my car off here two weeks after the diagnosis to get serviced for the engine valve cover replacement ...red was having to pay upfront before he started the repairs so he could order the part. This is the first body shop that I've ever known where you have to pay for the service upfront before the service is even started and completed. Received my car back within two days after dropping it off. I immediately noticed on the drive home that my car still smelled like burnt oil, which is what happens when you need an engine valve replacement cover. The screaming piping noise was gone. But leaking oil was still there. I also noticed my front left rim was scuffed. After driving it home and parking in my garage my car started to leak an oily substance coming directly from the engine valve. I called Mr. Keith and told him that I am smelling the same burnt oil smell coming from my car prior to the repairs. He told me to bring it up there and he will take a look at it. Not sure what he did but after the first initial visit there, I was back up there a week later. Mr Keith claimed that it was from the old oil that had leaked on other parts of my car stemming from the original issue so Mr. Keith tried to clean up the oil as much as he could drove my car back home same thing I could still smell the oil burning from my car oil was still leaking and there was smoke coming from my car called Mr. Keith. He told me to drive it for a week then bring it back if the problem persist... brought my car back a third time only this time he told me he wanted to keep it overnight. When I receive my car back, he told me to drive it for another week and if the problem persist to bring it back again . I did notice that there was a pleasant smell coming from my car however, once I parked in my garage, I noticed the burnt oil smell again mixed in with the cleaning products that he had used to clean the oil off my car and smoke coming from the engine. The last time I took my car to be serviced. I had to rent a car. I told myself I am not taking my vehicle up there for a fourth time only for the same problem to return. I would just take it to BMW and get it looked at there because I am sick and tired of going back-and-forth to this body shop and nothing is getting done. So today two weeks after my last service with this body shop, I take my car to get serviced at BMW. They do their diagnostic and they find that the valve cover gasket was improperly installed causing it to re leak. Valve cover assembly was now needed again, which is why there is oil spilling over from the existing repair. Pretty much in a nutshell. BMW told me that Mr. Keith did a half ass job on my repair. One trip to car scientist is all it should have taken. It should not have taken an almost 4th time for you to right your wrong Mr. Keith and you are dead wrong. I asked you for some sort of compensation and you couldn't even give me at least half of the money I paid you to fix my vehicle since you did a half ass job on my car! Shame on you! I would never recommend bringing my vehicle here. I will just pay the extra eight hundred a thousand dollars to get my car fixed whatever it takes at least I know it will get done right at BMW. This whole ordeal has caused me to have to pay for the same issue twice because the issue in the beginning was never correctly fixed. I have attached pictures to my review to show proof that this is just not a made up review. This actually happened to me and I hope and pray that it does not become your nightmare. Do yourself a favor if you have a BMW that requires any service under the hood, do not bring it here!! read more

My bill was over $170 for an error light caused by my wife not screwing the gas lid on tight enough. Plus they tacked on a $7 fluid disposal fee , not sure what that was for given the issue. Seems like they could have cut me a break on that 170 given the diagnostics were so simple. This isn't the way to get customers guys, I'll be going elsewhere next time. read more

As a long-time customer who brings all types of vehicles here -- from my domestic For Mustang, to our imports (VW, Subaru, Mini and Toyato) to my collector's cars (69 Mach1 and my 79 TA), as well as my kids' cars -- I have never experienced a more professional, courteous, and cost-effective repair shop and a really do mean this as I don't generally recommend places but these guys I do. The team at The Car Scientist has always taken the time to provide a straightforward assessment of whether a repair is worth pursuing or not. I appreciate their honesty when they explain that both repairs and parts may take time due to workloads at the time and the rising prices of parts from the dealerships. For someone like me, who is a car guy and enjoys tinkering on my cars , but doesn't always have the time due to my own time-crunches, their pricing has always been reasonable and worth every penny -- saving me the time and sometime the pain of working on my daughters Mini Cooper S myself. That said, I have never had to return for a recheck, which speaks volumes about the quality and reliability of their work. Sure, I have paid for diagnostic fees as my OBDSII reader doesn't always pick up all the codes, but, I have paid the dealership fees to read a code for me, so, this to me is standard in the industry and ensure a thorough examination -- they have always been transparent about these charges. I am a consultant, and I charge for my information as well, assume if I owned a shop I would charge for the code reading as well, so be aware of this. For me, I'd rather pay for quality diagnostics once than face hidden problems later. Unlike other places where I've was given a low initial price but ended up paying much more in follow-ups and pissed that I could have done it myself, here, they fix it right the first time as I said before. I've read some reviews mentioning concerns about pricing or wait times, and I think it's crucial to remember that quality work takes time, especially when parts need to be ordered or a repair isn't straightforward. They never rush their work, which is why I've never had an issue with any repair they've done. I personally ask the question first and decide whether I can wait or not. In my experience, The Car Scientist truly understands the long-term value of a satisfied customer. I have always felt they have my best interests at heart, offering me advice that is both honest and fair and at times free. It's unfortunate that some haven't had the same experience, but for me, I wouldn't trust my cars with anyone else. I recently moved to Fulshear and pulled into Car Scientist late on a Sunday afternoon with a newly discovered oil leak on my Dodge Challenger. Even though it was late in the day, they took the car in on the spot and said they would take a quick look. They called me a short while later and told me the leak was simply due to the filter not being tight enough. After a 7 qt oil change and filter replacement, I was on my way for about $100 with no oil leak and peace of mind, all in about an hour. They reached out a few days later to make sure I had no other issues. Great team over there, and they made a great first impression. I feel it can be harder to find a good honest mechanic than it is to find a good doctor. I know where I will be bringing my Challenger next time it needs service. read more

Great customer service with a fair price. Didn't suggest that I should repair a bunch of things that weren't necessary.

Don't go here. They charge fees to check things that other auto service do not. They charged me 100.00 for diagnostics for brakes and shocks. Then wanted 700.00 for back brakes and drum and 600 for front and rotors but didn't say anything about pad usage. Really? You can get this done anywhere for 300 with life time warranty at brake check. Then charged me 125 diagnostics to tell me what was needed to get my vehicle ready for inspection. The results were the same as the diagnostic I did 6mo earlier which was the noc sensor which they wanted 1350.00 for this. Then they said they would do any of the work if I didn't do the brakes. They wanted 3500.00 to fix what I needed for inspection. These people are not trust worthy and would rather argue their point with a new customer and collect the diagnostic fees than do any real work. It's sad that they don't realize the long term value of a satisfied customer treated fairly. People will pay a fair price to honest businesses. Just don't waste your time here. read more

But, my 2018 lease had a check engine light on and they were truly professional in diagnosing the light (at my request), provided the details as an Outside Air Temp indicator and provided guidance on a simple reset and monitor, at no cost. As soon as I walked in I had felt their great energy. They made me feel so welcomed and got to work on my car right away. I got an oil change done and they were so quick. The gentleman working on my car called me back to take a look at my car. He proceeded to show me a nest that a mouse had made under the hood of my car. He told me that he would clean it out for me and what I should do to prevent them from coming back. When he did that for me I was shocked!! He didn't need to show me that was under my hood.
