Ok, this is the GO-TO place for protein! You want excellent local beef? Cinder Butte Meat Company has it. Great selection of cuts available and they cook up so flavorfully! Not just beef, they have chicken, lamb, elk, bison, alpaca, and seafood. I will say that the ground alpaca with ground beef, and ground sausage make fabulous chili- I bought all my meat for that chili from Cinder Butte Meat Company, and it was received by 15 middle school girls. They devoured almost all of it and raved about it. Cinder Butte meat Company also makes sausage, bacon, lunch meats, jerky (hillbilly variety is thee family favorite). They clearly state on their door mask wearing and government protocols are not in the "constitution" and therefore anything goes. I walked in, saw the maskless employee, then immediately walked out. I like their meats, but with a wife suffering from Covid, I'm offended at their cavalier attitude to the pandemic. I will never be returning to this establishment. read more

Actually stopped by in passing the town by recommendation of friend. Past years don't eat much red meat for cholesterol reasons. Darn! Back on the horse again. Great meat and poultry selection. Wish there was more fish though to cover our diet. Had ribs and ground sausage both so delicious without much fuss. Will go again. read more

It's always wise to shop for meat/beef in cattle country where the meat/beef eating locals all give the place a 5 star rating. Take note, the only people who gave CBMC less than a five star rating aren't locals (Alabama, NYC, So Cal). I'm sure one of them was never even at CBMC and just decided to be spiteful. Why? Because in a previous review of his of an Asian restaurant he states proudly that he is a vegetarian! Why go to a rural setting and visit a place called 'Cinder Butte Meat Company'. We've been in the market to buy a half or quarter of a cow and got this place as a referral from Locavore. We headed up there the other day and stopped in to see what they had. A great selection of meats and prices were really good. Great service with a knowledgeable staff. They pointed us in the right direction for getting a quarter or a half a cow, but said if we weren't able to track one down that they could probably do it for us. We got a sampling of the beef that they had to offer. Ground beef, ribeyes and we also got some of their hotdogs and Alpaca of sausage. We were really pleased with everything we purchased. We will be back again and most definitely will have them help us with getting a cow. If not tracking one down, at least butchering it for us once we find one. read more

The selection leaves nothing to be desired and there is no bad choice. So many delicious beef jerky samples! FREE CORN! The meat man is the kind of guy you would want at your wedding. So fun! This is an excellent local Central Oregon Butcher and meat processing business. It is refreshing to use a local family owned butcher shop that sells locally raised organic beef that supports other local farmers and businesses. I was sold from the first visit and will not buy meat from what has become disgusting big chain retail grocery stores again. As stated in other reviews, DO NOT HAVE YOUR MEAT PROCESSED HERE. This business was recommended to me and I did not read reviews first, my fault. I have been processing my own game meat from1964-2010. The animals that were processed by them were not processed the way I asked. I received only 3 1/4 pounds of back strap from a 225 pound hanging weight animal. Live weight 530 pounds. When questioned the cutter stated they were too blood shot and were destroyed. When I told him the animal was not shot in the body, he changed the story and blamed the guide had destroyed them with a sawzall. Meat can not be blood shot after they have been dressed and hung so the meat was not even made into hamburger just GONE. I let the outfitter know what the cutter had said and I also spoke with Bob. I will never use them again. The meat I did receive was packaged properly. read more

Have had Great business with Cinder Butte until 2013. My pork is far to salty. Never ask for them to sausage your pork. Seriously Never! They did not hang my beef long enough, should have been 7 - 10 days and we experienced a large amount of blood in our beef. Good By Cinder Butte Overall Rating: 1 Star. read more

My husband and I have used Cinder Butte to process our wild game on three different occasions. Our first experience in 2012 was great. They processed our elk meat as we requested. It was very lean and packaged how we asked them to package it. We were pleased. In 2013 we took our deer to them with some specific requests. This time our experience was less than great. We asked for the back strap, tenderloin and steaks to be packaged like normal and the rest of the deer to be boned out and packaged so we could smoke our own jerky. When we picked up our meat we received the steaks as requested, 10 pounds of meat for jerky and the rest was ground into burger. My husband was very upset... we were looking forward to jerky. When we brought this to their attention, Bob offered us $20 off the price. While that was nice, it didn't change the fact that our deer had been ground up and we couldn't make the jerky we had been looking forward to. In 2014 we processed our own deer because of our experience the year before. This year my husband agreed to give them another try because the weather was warmer and we wouldn't be able to process both deer ourselves without compromising the meat. So we processed one of our deer ourselves and took the other deer to them on October 5th and asked that it be processed like normal... steaks, roasts, burger and some breakfast sausage. We picked up our meat on Friday October 9th and when we put the well frozen packages in the freezer, there was no breakfast sausage. I called that day and was told they would look into it and call me back. We received no phone call. I called back on Monday the 12th and was told the same thing... they will look into it. My husband received a call on Wednesday, nearly a week later, that our sausage had been located and we could pick it up the next day. Upon arriving to get the sausage on Thursday, the packages were chilled but not frozen. It was evident that they had forgotten to make sausage like we had requested and had given us meat that was not from our deer. We grilled some steaks last night and they were delicious... not gamey and very tender. We cooked some breakfast sausage this morning and we are very disappointed. The meat is obviously not from our deer... it is extremely gamey. I am disappointed to say that we will not be going back to Cinder Butte. I wish we had had a better experience. We saved some meat from the deer we processed at home this year to be made into pepperoni sticks and summer sausage. Our plan was to take the meat to Cinder Butte this winter and have them make the pepperoni and summer sausage. Looks like I will be researching for another smokehouse to process that. :( read more
