We took our 4 year old granddaughter to Sno-Cap on a warm Sunday afternoon. She had never had soft serve ice cream before . We thought that Sno-Cap had the best soft serve in the area. At the time they only had Vanilla . We asked for a taste . My granddaughter's face was precious. After contemplating between the soft sever and several hand pack flavors , the female sever who was very gracious put together a kids cup (which is pretty large ) of soft serve Vanilla with Oreo cookie crumbs. She was a happy campers with ice cream and cookie planted around her mouth. Sno- Cap is a local favorite here in Redmond and in Sisters. Came here originally in 1985. Returned in 2024. Had the Power Pac Supreme both times. Same great burger but not as big as 40 years ago when the burger required its own plate and the fries required their own plate. Excellent tots btw. Wanted to cool off from the hot Oregon summer air. Saw another-cap has some local ice cream served. Got three two scoops: mint chocolate, cappuccino almond fudge, and chocolate peanut butter. Total came out to $11. The ice cream was good, a little soft. Great friendly people too! My husband has been getting us takeout fried fish from Sno-Cap about once every couple of months since we moved to Oregon 5 years ago. I would say that the quality and size of the fish ranges from fair to okay. This past week, he purchased our regular 4 pieces of fish. This time, when we opened the takeout container at home, we saw that ALL of the pieces were less than 1/2 normal size and were very thin. I have truly never believed I have inconvenienced a business in such a spectacular fashion. Truly the family and I almost apologized several times to the cashier girl. From being made to feel incompetent for asking where the menu is, to hearing the staff swearing at one another in the back. The absolute best part was asking for tater tots, and then five minutes later hearing a gentleman hollering his head off in the back "we outta tots! And I'm not opening another bag!" And out comes the the cashier girl with our food, with French fries. Truly I regret tipping ahead of time. I regret meeting that horrible little cashier girl. I regret ever coming. I have been going to the snowcap since I was a little kid, primarily at the snowcap in sisters, and now since I have moved to Redmond, I can't believe I live right across the street from the Redmond snowcap! The club Sandwich is divine, they cook their fries perfectly as well. They could use a little bit of work on the chili, but their burgers are also sensational as are the fish and chips. I must admit, I have never been a fan of ice cream, but their milk shakes have changed my pallet! The ambience is really fantastic, an old-school diner like experience with a local feel. Good people, nice atmosphere and a junior or regular size cheeseburger that can rival any in America. Do yourself a favor and get a chocolate malt milkshake, cheeseburger and fries. This place does it right everytime. Call-ins ok and dine in great. I have become a regular here and am glad to say so. I look for consistently reliable places that do small things well. This is one of those places. They are cooking up good old fashioned burgers and fries and the milk shake choices are out of this world. The staff and service we got were 5 stars!!! She was so kind and very attentive, answered our questions and I loved the Shake I got. Little spot off the main road, maybe 12 tables and a great ice cream spot. The food not so good... The food... that is where I had the problems. We both ordered Bacon Cheese Burgers... I had to ask is it was beef or imitation because it had a strange texture and was grey. After three bites, I removed the "beef" and added extra tomatoes and pretty much just ate a BLT. Of what could be stomached. We would have left hungry if it had not been for the tater tots, they were good enough to complete the meal. But sadly, the food was not what I had read about nor expected. Coming from Vegas, perhaps I was biased and saw this cute little place and reminiscent of my high school days of little burger drive ins and walk ups, I had hoped this would be worthy of the trip. The food was absolutely amazing! The fish was a perfectly cooked and good portion. The chicken strips were so good, too! The honey mustard that they use is delicious as it isn't overly sweet like a lot of places. The chili reminded me of a good southern chili (and being from the south that's one thing I missed after moving to the PNW). My bf had the patty melt and it was delicious! Everything was perfectly seasoned and the portion sizes are very good! You definitely get your monies worth! Service was also on point and I love that the place has kept the old timey diner feel. I love Sno Cap in Sisters, but this is the best Coffee-Peanut Butter shake I have ever had. They are two strong flavors & Redmond Sno Cap balanced them perfectly. My mom had Sno Cap Sisters & Redmond back to back, she said the Cherry one at Redmond was so much better. Next up: Corn Dog with Coney Sauce - sad they use chili instead of actual coney sauce. The key is no beans & ask for mustard. Corn dog was good & the chili had good flavor. I just wish it was a real coney dog. Sno-Cap is the greasy spoon diner where high schoolers get their first job and locals love!! ... and they make THE BEST milkshakes- with local Eberhard's Dairy ice cream- in town!! The dining room is gently lived-in (just like mom's kitchen table), with the latest edition of a the local newspaper to view while waiting. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The service is quick, unless you order 4 large milkshakes- that can take a while. So COVID protocols have relaxed, and we went for ice cream again this summer. One of our orders was a small cup, and one of the girls put too much in the cup? and after placing it on the counter, she took it back and removed some ice cream and put it back in the tub!
