Me and the hubster love going to Cinema Cafe. Tickets are cheap and theatre seats are comfortable. You have to get to popular movies early as seats tend to fill up though. The service is good and so are the wings and chicken tenders. The chicken tenders are in hubby's top five which is saying a lot as we can go to the fanciest of restaurants and he is looking for chicken tenders on the menu. For the movie and movie services I wish I could give one star, but for the older gentleman in the front he was amazing!! 10000 stars for him! I came in for my boyfriends birthday to go see Venom at 10pm. I noticed that I accidentally bought tickets for the previous day and called in and they compensated me rather quickly. And fixed MY own mistake so I am grateful. However, when we came to the movies everything went smoothly until we went back to the screen. There was a huge line on the right side that was darker and highly noticeable, and even seemed like the screen could use a wipe down. I could see white dots reflecting from the screen every time something the color white was up there but I think that could be since I was on the inside seat. Here comes the rough part: Our waiter comes over to us and seems a little impatient (I work customer service too, it's 10pm and the last movie so I get it) so we carry on and I just ask him to come back in a few minutes since he seemed so much in a rush. This was WAY before the movie started as we got there 15 minutes early. He comes After the movie starts, it took a while for the pizza which is fine but once it gets there, there's a huge hole taking up a whole slice full of burnt cheese. My boyfriend asked me not to say anything since it was in the middle of the movie so I ignored it, eventually we order brownies and he finds 1hair and a string from cardboard inside of it. We let them know and they quickly went to give us our money back. As my boyfriend is looking at the receipt while we leave, he see's how it says change due is 3 dollars and he only has 2. We let the young waiter know and he says, "Oh yeah" and rushes back into the back meanwhile there's a worker who's slurping on a smoothie while we wait for our money back just staring at us. Very awkward experience. read more

The theatre was very clean and the speed of food service was great. The only downside was that the chairs were noisy and didn't fully recline. The footrest also wouldn't extend without manual assistance. read more

Despite the low rating for this particular theater, I am a fan of the Cinema Cafe franchise as a whole.The one in Kemps River is less than a mile from my house and I go there all the time. I have also been to the one on Pembroke a few times and have had good experiences there also. I have only been to the Greenbrier one twice. Both times were bad. The first time was a few years ago when I saw The Hobbit. I had a few hours to kill so I went in alone for lunch one afternoon. When it was time to pay I gave them my card. About ten minutes later the manager came back and said they were having issues with their card reader machine and they had to swipe my card twice. The manager warned me to check my bank statement in a few days to see if I was charged twice for the meal. So about a week later I checked my statement and they indeed charged me twice for the same meal. It was less than $12.00 dollars. I don't go by Greenbrier often, and due to my work schedule I didn't get back over there until almost three weeks later. I informed the girl at the counter of my issue and she told me I had to speak with the manager. I waited about 20 minutes for the manager to come out. Of course it was a different manager from the one I talked to the first time. I told him the situation and show him my bank statement on my smartphone where I was charged twice. He then went into some load of BS about how he would need something official from the bank proving I was double charged. Apparently an electronic bank statement on your phone is not sufficient. I told him to not worry about it and it was only $12.00. They already inconvenienced me once by making me drive back over there for a mistake that THEY made. Now they want me to go to my bank, then drive back over here again to get a refund...no thanks. Fast forward to this year when my family was at Greenbrier mall. Cinema Cafe was having their customer appreciation day and the tickets were free. I swore that I would never go back there, but hey free movie...what the heck. We ended up taking the kids to see Kung Fu Panda 3. There was a couple there with a toddler (maybe almost two) that screamed for nearly half the movie. Like screamed as if someone was trying to kill him. It was so distracting and made the movie unwatchable. Im pretty sure that people complained, but the staff didn't do a damn thing. And I'm pretty sure they have ears too and could hear the screaming themselves while they were serving food, but still did nothing. I eventually got tired of the screaming and yelled at the parents to take the kid outside so we could enjoy the movie. Finally at the point one of the parents took the kid outside. Thank god it was a free movie. Definitely never going back now. read more

Just got in from taking the kids to see Diary of A Wimpy Kid. This place was amazing! The tickets for the 3 of us cost less then 1 ticket elsewhere. I was ecstatic alone for that. The kids were excited because the setup is different then the normal theater. Once they settled down, we all looked over the menu and ordered. Everything arrived right as the movie was starting. Good movie, good service. Will definitely be coming here again. read more

Love this Place for a nice, relaxed date with the husband. We go there very often. A lot of people say that the food is overpriced but realistically speaking, what movie theater isn't? And for the price of admission (with military discount) you get more bang for your buck than going to a Regal Cinema. They give you a nice serving of popcorn. My husband and I always get the large and end up with left over popcorn which won't happen anywhere else. The only thing I can say is that they should make it bigger and add more tables. The amount of tables aren't enough for the amount of chairs they have. There was a time when we got seats and wanted to buy a meal but we couldn't because it was so packed that we didn't have a table. First come first serve, I guess? read more

I love that this theatre is never overly crowded compared to other cinema cafes in Hampton roads. I went on a Tuesday and all movies are only $1.50, if you get your ticket online there is a $0.50 convenience fee, which I would be willing to pay when going to another cinema café that has new releases and fill up quickly. read more

This is the best way to see a movie! This location shows 2nd run films, so the ticket prices are cheaper than other nearby theaters. There is a new release location nearby.) The food isn't exactly cheap, but a $9 popcorn and soda combo at another theater is highway robbery compared to Cinema Cafe's menu! The menu consists of mainly pub food: nachos, burgers, etc. They do offer kid's meals, as well. They have sodas, beer as well as other alcoholic beverages. There are booster seats for small children available in the lobby. The bathrooms, lobby, and tables are clean. They play NFL games on Monday night during season. read more

I can really tell that cinema cafe in greenbrier stepped up. When I took my bf there for the first time, I was actually amazed too bc it had been a long time since I've been there. The lounge area close to the entrance changed, they took out the pool table, put new carpeting and arranged comfortable seating but they added a small bar area to chill at which is probably their focal point of the room. They have neon lights that create a nightlife ambience bc they added it to the bar table and right along the top of the walls. Their restrooms are really interesting also bc it has neon lights lit from behind the mirror taking the same effect from the entrance and new sinks. I'm a future interior designer and I notice the little things and there is probably more to it and havent seen it, but I give them a thumbs up for upgrading. read more

We were the 1st ones seated and near the LAST to get food ordered. And yes... we had the light on for service. We were there 30 minutes before the movie started and the waitress didn't come take our order until after the movie began. She was totally rude - saw us looking around wandering when our order would be taken and she YELLED "I'll be right with you" and proceeded to take everyone else's order. I had to sit there nearly 10 minutes after the movie was OVER just to get my credit card returned from paying my bill. 90% of the theater was already gone. Delaney was her name - she shouldn't not be a server however I can see why she's not serving in a nice restaurant; not with that attitude and crappy service. read more

Dinner and a movie what more can you ask for. Food is pretty good with a large selection. Go for dinner or popcorn and desserts. They also have a bar for wine and beer. Take the kids or date might with hubby. Get there early so you get a good seat. read more

We love Cinema Cafe a lot! Aside from just it's close proximity, it's AFFORDABLE and server actually became part of the family for obvious reasons.... We are there Every Tuesday specials! Since the new renovations, it is actually pleasant to even hold special events because of the new chairs, carpet, decor, new lighting, new menu, lighted mini bar in the lobby and clear marquees all over makes our stay pleasantly good for a double features! I would highly recommend coming to Cinema Cafe and give it a try. My favorite to order is my FREE popcorn with no butter once you order other goodies that valued more than $5. We ordered basically most of what shows at the menu but mostly the delicious Baby Back Ribs and Deluxe Nachos and please add more beans on the chili beans! NEVER, EVER USE A CREDIT CARD HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Maine, but came down to visit a friend and we went out for movies and a beer. Sounded great in theory - until 3 months later when I was out of state and a 10 dollar charge from them showed up on my credit card. My friend, who hadn't been to the cinema in a couple weeks, also received a fraudulent 10 dollars charge on her card a week later. THEY ARE STEALING CREDIT CARD NUMBERS!!! BUYER BEWARE!! Had to get an entirely new credit card # and reset all of my financial information. WORST CINEMA EVER. read more

Enjoyed the movie we were seeing, and the service from our actual waiter was great. The person who brought our food out wasn't very pleasant when I asked for the sauce that we had ordered (they forgot to put it on the plate). He didn't bring it out until 45 minutes after I asked for it, and by that time whatever food I hadn't eaten had gotten cold, and I didn't even need it. Usually service here is amazing and we love the food, but this time it was lacking. We will definitely be coming back though because we do love the theater and food 99% of the time. read more

Though you have to wait a bit for newer movies, it is by far worth it! The customer service is great, the location is near my house, and I enjoy the restaurant-style seating and food service. The theater itself is clean and the staff are very professional. The food is good, my personal favorite is the fries. I am a bit sad they got rid of their chicken-fries-drink-popcorn combo meal, but they still offer everything that was in it (just separately).
