My daughter and I decided to see Avatar: Fire & Ash the day after Christmas. It seems like everyone had the same idea because the theater was packed. Our movie started at 3:30pm and since I bought tix online, we were able to walk right in and have our tix scanned. The concession line was ridiculously long so we decided to return a little later, hoping it would die down a bit. After about an hour, my daughter went out to grab popcorn and drinks and she mentioned that the lines were much less crowded. The popcorn was very fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thankfully, the seats were comfortable because the movie was over 3 hours long; the sound and movie quality in the theater was great as well. I don't frequent this location often but you can never go wrong seeing a movie here. I highly recommend ordering concessions in advance to avoid the long lines. I also love that this location has restaurants right outside of the theater as well. I'll definitely be back. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. Upon arrival, the employee at the ticket counter was sitting on his phone. Rather than assisting us, he simply pointed a finger toward concessions and directed us there to redeem our movie passes. The concessions area was not much better. The first thing you notice is the overwhelming smell of burnt popcorn, and the counters were covered in liquid from spilled or splashed drinks. The only bright spot of the entire experience was the young lady working behind the concession counter, who was polite and kind. We ordered two large drinks and a large popcorn, only to be told they couldn't sell large drinks because they had no lids. Instead, we were offered (and charged for) large ICEE cups. When it came time to pay and redeem our movie ticket vouchers, the employee repeatedly tried to process them without success before finally calling a manager. The manager slowly walked over, then slowly walked back to the ticket counter to retrieve replacement tickets. She eventually returned while we continued waiting, now approximately eight minutes late for our movie. We then had to wait even longer for the employee to finish washing her hands before she could scan the tickets. Once we finally made it to the drink machines, one of them wasn't working. Then we discovered the butter dispenser wasn't working either. My husband, who is handicapped, had to walk to the opposite side of the counter just to get butter for our popcorn. By this point, we were roughly 15 minutes late for the movie we had paid to see. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. When we entered the theater, the trash cans were overflowing and the floors were covered with popcorn and other garbage. We finally reached our seats only to discover that the theater did not have reclining seats. My husband struggled to get comfortable for the first half of the movie. To make matters worse, the auditorium was so warm that we were sweating. I actually had to leave the movie and track down the employee at the ticket counter--the only staff member I could find--to ask if someone could please turn on the air conditioning. This theater appears to be poorly managed, understaffed, and lacking even the most basic attention to cleanliness and customer service. From the dirty concessions area, malfunctioning equipment, and overflowing trash to the lack of urgency from management and uncomfortable theater conditions, nearly every aspect of our visit was frustrating. I will never return to this theater, and after this experience, it's easy to understand why so many movie theaters are struggling to keep customers coming back. read more

Went to AMC last month and viewed a movie. Ticket prices are outrageous now in my opinion but it is what it is. The concession stand line went quickly and for one popcorn and one fountain drink it was $20. Geesh!! The previews started right on time. The movie theater itself wasn't that clean, popcorn all on the floor and the floor was sticky. Kinda gave me the ick but over all had a good time watching the movie. read more

This movie theater was just ok. No reclining seats and I did notice most of the seats were dirty. I'm used to reclining chairs but it served the purpose. We saw a good movie. We actually caught an early matinee. So we had the whole theater to ourselves. I guess no one wanted to come to a early 10am show. That was fine with us because we had other plans for the day. We are big movie buffs and love seeing things on the big screen. One of the reasons we don't visit this location often though is the price. In order to save seats you have to order online which charges you extra. For two tickets we paid 30 bucks. At other theaters we don't get charged as much so we tend to go there instead. A great thing about this theater is that it has more of a variety of options. If I want to see a limited release film, AMC typically is the only local theater to be showing it. So in all it has it's positives and negatives. read more

Took in a matinee for a new release on Sunday afternoon-seating was almost sold out at 11:30 for a 1:30 show. Was in the area so purchased tickets at the booth. Reserved seats so we grabbed the last two in the back row. Comfortable multi-adjustable seats. I saw they had a special concession line for Super loyal customers-don't remember seeing that in the past. Despite not being in the prio lane, the queue went fast. About 20 minutes of previews/ads which we thought was a bit excessive-usually it's been 10 minutes. In addition to the seats, we enjoyed the Dolby sound system-sometimes feeling the shake in our seats for the more intense sound effects. I was expecting $10 and not $15 for matinee but then I remembered I was at the Beach and it isn't Discount Tuesday. Ticket counter and concessions service was friendly and fast. Solid option for a non-beach day. read more

AMC Lynnhaven 18 is the ultimate cinematic adventure if the adventure you're seeking involves sticky floors, confused teenagers running concessions, and chairs that feel like they're judging your life choices. First, the ticket machine. I don't know who programmed it, but I'm convinced it's sentient and hates happiness. It stared at me for a full five seconds before deciding to freeze probably because I chose a matinee. Eventually I got my ticket, which felt like winning a tiny, meaningless battle in the grand war against outdated technology. Now the concessions line... ah yes. A spiritual journey. I had enough time waiting to contemplate my childhood, my future, and what I'd do if I ever escaped this line alive. After 20 minutes, I received a popcorn that tasted like it had been prepared three Marvel phases ago and a soda so flat it needed emotional support. The seat reclined, but only on the left side, which meant I watched the entire movie at a 30-degree gangster lean. Immersive, I guess? The sound system? Incredible. Every five minutes someone's phone would ring with crystal-clear clarity, and there was a symphony of crinkling wrappers that should honestly win a Grammy. On the bright side, the movie technically played. All the way through. Would I go back? ...Probably, because I make bad decisions and AMC Lynnhaven knows it. I don't go to the movies a lot but came here for Pretty in Pink. It was a good, normal movie experience near Lynnhaven Mall. I could not find my tickets that I had purchased 2 months prior to the movie.....of course. They were so helpful. They directed me inside and the manager found them immediately with no issues. They have a bar so of course we had to buy a bottle of wine to watch Pretty in Pink. The bar is pricy but that's to be expected. The theater felt "dated" but not in a bad way. So many theaters have reclining seats and all the bells and whistles but it's not necessary all the time. We sat in normal movie seats and enjoyed our experience. I wanted popcorn but was too full from dinner but it smelled good. I would go back if I wanted to go to the movies. read more

Went to see Mandalorian on 24 May. Paid $100 for concessions and tickets, get in the theater adjust before showtime and the movie starts late, it's also a bit warm, seat had grease on it so we ended up using all of our napkins to clean the seat. Went back to get some napkins and all of the holders were out, asked an attendant who was sweeping and he grabbed just enough from the back for me without refilling the holders. Went back inside and after about 30 mins we started sweating, went back and asked at the front if they could check on the AC and they said the AC was out, it was a known issue for a while and if it was too uncomfortable we could get credited for our tickets only. There was nothing online that warned us about this, nothing posted on the doors, ticket window or anywhere in the theater to warn us ahead of time. The food is getting more expensive, quality is going down, customer service is horrible, the concession area is greasy and sticky. I used to intentionally go to the theater to enjoy the experience but it's not worth it anymore read more

This has to be my favorite movie spot in the area and especially it being right beside the mall. I love coming here as an AMC A Lister because AMC knows how to do movies right. The staff works hard to make the experience great. From the concession to the individuals cleaning the theaters. They make sure the environment is definitely presentable and clean. FREEZING COLD - go somewhere else! They refuse to turn AC down - felt like it was between 50 to 55° in there. I left the movie to beg the guy at the concession stand to PLS ask the manager to turn the AC down, but we just froze. My hair was blowing in the wind of the AC. I put on a corduroy shirt with FUR on the inside and it was still FREEZING. We spoke with Britt the manager after, and she could have cared less. She said AMC refuses to fix their AC and it's either too hot or too cold, but having a theater at 50-55° is unacceptable and she just handled it really badly. We do not recommend and will not be going there again. They shouldn't get away with doing this to customers!!! read more

We have been coming here for man ears, and I will acknowledge that not every employee here is an "A" player, but honestly, can that not be said for practically every single service oriented business in this seven city area. To sit and whine about your hurt feelings at a movie theater is a bit puzzling to me, if you need your poor ego stroked, stay at home JD's of the world! I have always felt the theaters have been fine and dandy, the sound system (although a little bit louder than I might care for) is great, and concessions nifty as well. Prices are extreme at a movie theater, same as it ever was, and will be. I belong to Stubs, which has worked out well, order on line, and either print it out, or use your phone, and you go directly in. It is next to a mall that is still being used by shoppers in 2024! This was a very well maintained theatre and excellent staff. I don't know if they clean after each showing but the floors didn't make you wonder "what did just step on" and the trash was not greeting you as you entered. Overall I was quite impressed with the lynnhaven AMC movie theater. My only complaint, this theater has no recliner seats. I saw The re-release of Avatar in the IMAX auditorium. As IMAX auditoriums go, this was a nice one. Snack bar did not have a full selection of snacks. No m&m peanut. Customer service was very helpful issuing a well working closed captioning device. At least one in three times close captioning equipment does not work in movie theaters. So when it works you definitely have to recognize it. This movie theater is part of the lynnhaven Mall. I've been coming to this mall since I was in high school. They've done a great job remodeling them all, so if you get here before the movie or have some time after the movie it's a great place to just walk around. read more

Samantha at the ticket box office was helpful. She advised my husband and I on the best seats to select for viewing the Little Mermaid movie, and she asked us if we had our student ID cards for a discount which we wouldn't have thought to show if she hadn't asked. The inside of the AMC is what you would expect as far as cleanliness for a busy theater in the middle of the day. There was popcorn on the floor by the concession counter and the counter by the drink fountain was very wet from spilled drinks. I ordered a large cherry ICEE for nostalgia and filled the cup myself but the drink had a very odd and unpleasant taste to it. I only drank a quarter of it and sadly had to throw the rest away because it just tasted off. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest but with it being the middle of the day and there being so many people using the bathroom at once, it wasn't surprising, Other than that, my husband and I had an enjoyable experience at this theatre and will go back again to see other movies. read more

There's been so many things wrong I had to put it in a list 1-it's always freezing in every theater or hot as hell. 2-multiple times the lights have turned on way before the movie is over 3-over 8 times movies have froze and stopped working 4-twice movies completely shut off 5-the seats are insanely disgusting 6-twice they've played the wrong movie on the wrong day, in the wrong theater. 7-the pizza is always cold and rarely cut 8-hot food is never fully cooked. We bought hot dogs there and they were COLD in the middle 9-multiple times the screens are extremely dark and flickering 10-people are very rude in theaters. On their phones or having full blown conversations and all the employees ever do is offer free passes instead of actually saying anything 11-soda machines are always out of order, have no syrup, warm, or no ice IVE WASTED SO MUCH MONEY HERE ITS INSANE. I'm 1,000% taking my business elsewhere. And yes I know the company really doesn't care about that because respect is a lost art anymore but just thought I'd try to save other people from wasting 50-60 dollars at this theater for no reason. Pros: the staff were all masked and very nice even though it was the last showing. The giant pretzel was so good. Cons: the seats were filthy dirty and smelled terrible. The theatre is super dated I'd needs a facelift. 5 of the bathroom stalls next to theatre 9 were clogged. Dear Owner of Amc Lynnhaven theater, I would like to be transparent and give you my deepest appreciation how I really enjoy these two managers every time I visit your establishment. You have hired two wonderful managers by the name of Dontae and Nya that always show great hospitality, professionalism, cleanliness, courtesy and work their tales off to make sure all customers are taken care of. It's not easy trying to serve all the customers that constantly needs help with so many situations as they pull these to managers in so many different directions. Without the wonderful staff that has been trained by these two motivated managers and others, there's no way the duties of the theater can get accomplished by the team. From every aspect from serving, hospitality, and making the food and theater comfortable, we customers would be highly upset with the outcome, but these two managers mentioned could've applied to work at anywhere else, but things worked out hand and hand to work at these great theater under this great Owner and for the managers to perform at their top peak to make these establishment the best experience ever. Thanks dearly for all these two under the leadership of the Owner. It's been years since I watched a movie at AMC. Back in the day when I was in Northern VA I was an AMC Stubs member, enjoying the perks of my membership. The theatre didn't have reclining seats (I think only if you watch an IMAX film) but it definitely is larger than the theatres where you have full dining experience while you watch (you know that 5 syllabic CC cinema name!). The theatre is clean, offers free large popcorn refill, advance surprise viewings which you can book online and Discount Tuesday for great movie ticket price and discounted popcorn. And even better, if you get the Premier membership you can buy your tickets online without the fees! There's a reason why there's still the nostalgic draw to a movie theatre! read more

My family and I went to AMC lynnhaven 18 in VA bch on 7/20/25. I have been attending for years. We saw the new Jurassic Park movie. The movie was great and we had fun, but I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the Theater carpets and seating. They have an odor as well. Especially in the theater room 11. The seating was so dirty I felt gross sitting in the seats. If I wasn't there with the kids I would have left. It really is a shame because we have been attending for years and really enjoy going there. If you have to pay what they ask you at least want to sit in somewhat clean chairs. I am talking about huge stains throughout that smell. I understand its the movies and expect some staining or popcorn/food but these seats were really gross. I may not be returning. Since movie theaters nationwide were closed from mid-March until mid-August, I figured I'd contribute a review for this COVID-aware AMC location. Things are a little different - the ticket taker station now has a plexiglass separator with an oval opening at the bottom. It looks like a standalone version of the box office. I'm an AMC Stubs member, so I brought up my ticket on my phone to have it scanned while I held out my driver's license for the ticket taker to confirm (this is an action they've performed since their A-list program's inception, so nothing new here). The big difference here is the plexiglass that separates the customer from the employee. Btw, the ticket taker, both times I've been here since they reopened, was wearing a face mask and (I think) gloves. Both times the ticket takers were friendly and informed me where my theater was located, so kudos to that. Another change can be seen at the entrance to each auditorium - hand sanitizer and wipe stations are readily available. They also have them at the concession stand, which is likely where it's most needed (outside of the bathroom). I carry my own bottle of hand sanitizer but it's great to know this option is available. I didn't buy any food or drink, so I can't comment specifically on concessions. I avoided the bathroom, too, so I can't tell you about those. Honestly, I hope they put a lot of work into the bathrooms because they were usually filthy - filthier than I'd like. Probably the biggest concern for moviegoers is seating - how would AMC handle that? On their website, AMC stated they will only allow 40% capacity for all shows, then they block off seats depending on which seats you choose. So, let's say you buy 2 tickets and choose E11 and E12, that means AMC will block off seats E10 and E13 so no one can sit in them. If you happen to be watching your movie in an auditorium that has normal seats, then AMC will go the extra distance and block off the seats around your choice, which includes the the row in front of and behind you (they will only block off the seats immediately to the left & right of you if the auditorium has the reclining seats). Good stuff from a social distancing standpoint. I was one of those people concerned with watching movies at the theater, but AMC has done well with their "Safe & Clean" policy, both with concept and execution. I felt comfortable and safe throughout and, outside of having to wear your mask the entire time, I enjoyed my recent visits. JV read more
