The screens at MacArthur are terrible! Horrible! I saw Nosferatu and Warfare here and both times the theater screens had a discernible blue mark in the center of the screen. This blemish significantly impacts the quality of the film you're watching. Regal needs to repair or update their screens and/or projectors. I will not be returning even though I live in Norfolk. This is my 2nd time at this theater and it was a pleasant experience once again! It's hard to not be drawn to the smell of popcorn when walking around the Macarthur Center Mall since the theater is on the 3rd floor of it. Boyfriend and I went on Valentine's Day at 7PM (movie started at 7:30) and it wasn't crowded at all! We went to go see Megan and after getting our concessions we headed inside around 7:10 and the theater was pretty empty! A lot of people showed up right at 7:30 and a few trickling in as the movie started. However still not packed at all and everyone was pretty spaced out. They have $5 movie tickets and 50% of popcorn on Tuesdays for Regal Members so that was a bonus! Everything went great and we really enjoyed the movie! read more

Absolutely horrible experience with the manager Hannah. I accompanied my disabled sister to see a movie last night. The Regal Cinemas website states that assistants for disabled people are able to come for free, which we inquired about at the box office. The initial employee was very nice, but had to get her manager to approve the ticket. The manager, Hannah, came out and VERY loudly proclaimed "THE FREE TICKET IS ONLY FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANTS AND SINCE I CAN SEE YOU ARE NOT A NURSE YOU WILL *NOT* BE ENTITLED TO A FREE TICKET"; she was so loud that she caused a scene which gave my sister a lot of anxiety. We weren't trying to break any rules, and a simple "no" would have sufficed; but for some reason Hannah felt the need to make it a scene and try to embarrass us. I wouldn't recommend this theater to anyone; we will not be returning. read more

We love this theater. Convenient covered ramp and parking validation. Yay! Concessions? Always good. Here's what we do...we always pre-pay to reserve the seats that are right above the wheelchair access row. Always. Good leg room and no obstruction of people's heads in front of you. And they are generally available if you reserve them in advance. Clean, well kept, polite movie watchers. We've never had a single complaint in all the years that we've patronized this theater. read more

For the price of tickets here, nothing special at all but I do love the accessibility to the mall and just downtown Norfolk in general. Sometimes the line can be long, but we usually purchase tickets online. There's no podium so be careful not to glide pass the person checking tickets. Top annoying thing is how long the concession stand line is. I rarely buy snacks when I visit due to that reason, so this was actually my first time giving it a try. $18 for a flat sprite and 2 boxes of candy. Never worth it, but whatever. Though, I am part of the regal club so I got a free small bag of popcorn that's been sitting out for hours for my birthday. Yay! We saw Joker in RPX and the viewing itself was wonderful! Reserved seats made it better, though we did have to ask people to move out of our seats, Lol. Seats are okay, not super comfy though. This isn't my go to movie theater, but it's one I don't mind visiting. 3.5 rounded down. read more

I had a fun day with my son and decided to take him to see The Secret Lives of Pets 2 for the Saturday 3:50 showing. I purchased our tickets through the Regal App and so all I had to do was scan my phone and we were in. We actually didn't want any snacks so we proceeded to theater 11, which was far towards the back. There are no bells and whistles with this theater. The seats are basic with a little rock to it. My six year old had a hard time sitting comfortably in his chair because it would keep folding up on him. He sat on my lap the whole time. On the way out, we ordered a soft pretzel to go. I was told to "go down to the other end and you can pick it up there." There was no one there and no light on. I do love how it's in a mall and you can go have dinner afterwards or you can shop beforehand. read more

It was my first time here. I'll start with the good points: exceptionally friendly staff at both the ticket counter and concession stand, they offer military discounts, and I like their nacho sauce. Other than that, I won't return because as soon as we entered the movie auditorium a foul odor took over- it smelled like mildew and mold, but strong. The stench is still on my clothes after the movie and I feel like my clothes are contaminated with mold spores. Also, the chairs were not reclining seats and the seats themselves were old and dirty. The bathroom stalls seemed to be clogged. If you rarely go to a movie as in my case, I expect the entire experience to be at least pleasant, I can not recommend anyone spending their money here. read more

this evening on August 19, 2024 at 7 PM. I went to see the Coraline movie in 3-D with four of my friends. Unfortunately the receptionist Asia was very rude. Did not give out our 2 military discounts and 1 student ID discount but yet checked IDs to get the discount. her attitude was the worst customer service i have ever experienced. I asked to speak to the manager and he seemed to know nothing. When there may be a policy for no discounts for certain movies, she made it seem like we were getting a discount and on top of that, had the worst attitude I have ever encountered. Do Not go to this theater! I hope you guys get a better staff! read more

This is my go to movie theater. I haven't seen a long line at this movie theater in a while. My mom and I were there earlier today. There was no line for the movie tickets and no lines at the concession stand. The popcorn tasted fresh and buttery. A fun afternoon at the movie with my son today. This is probably my fourth time at this particular theater. I am more of an AMC fan myself, but this one delivers just fine. This cinema is located at the top floor of MacArthur Mall. No doubt aesthetically the general area it is very pleasing to the eye perched up so high with neat views over the balcony. The lobby was clean, so no issues here. The carpeting is well maintained and no stains were obvious to me. Lot of screens, 18 I believe... the place is HUGE! I had a positive interaction with a manager who took care of a small problem with ticketing. They had misunderstood on my advance ticket that it was one adult and one child and charged me for two adults. This ended up being a $4 error and I did not catch it until going in. The male manger who was professionally dressed with a blue blazer apologized and quickly credited the amount back to my card. I could probably remove a star for the mistake, but instead will leave it alone due to the great interaction with Regal management. How can you go to the movie with a kid and not stop off at concessions... sigh! Oh well, at least my son is pretty easy to please and not as expensive as my daughter. The young girl as the counter was friendly and got the order correct. A medium lemonade with light ice and a medium popcorn was $6, I guess that did not sting too much. The popcorn tasted good to both of us. Only complaint in this area is there could have been six employees cover all cash registers with such a big premier as the new Hunger Game movie. The movie theater itself was clean and seats we sat in were comfortable. They have nice stadium seating with nice arm chairs the fold up to cozy next to your lovey. Also large drink holders that are a must. The seats DO NOT recline in this theater which is only a slight draw back. I personally do like the reclining seats. There were no issues with the operation of the film and the movie started on time. Lighting on the floor worked great and this is important because there are a lot of steps. The trash area at the end is a large bucket on wheels. This is my only disappointment with the theater. I think it would be nice to not have the trash cans exposed, just looks unprofessional. I would come back here again, no problem. I most certainly come here a lot to shop, so why not. I still think that AMC as an advantage and just seems like a better overall movie experience, but my opinion only. read more

I took my son to see the LEGO movie on a busy weekend and there were only TWO lines open for refreshments. The service was extremely slow and the prices are astronomical!!! I gave in and bought him a pizza, kiddie drink, and I got a snack pack. I paid over $20!!!! I could've gone across the mall to Chili's and bought a meal and dessert for us with that. For this movie, we had assigned seating. That was ok. The theater was dirty, but I'm sure they can make it spotless between shows. Parking can be validated, so make sure you bring your parking ticket inside. I still ended up having to pay 50 cents, but it's better than their normal pricing. I come here because of the location, so I will definitely be back. I'm just shocked at the prices! read more

My friend and I watched Birds of Prey here for Valentine's Day in theater 5 and it was...literally okay. Glad you can pick the seating, but oh-em-gee does this place need some sort of upgrade or at the very least a deep cleaning. The theater almost had some sort of cheesy smell and the floor was gross. It almost distracted me basically for the entire movie. For what you're paying, I guess it's what you could expect, but honestly at another theater I could pay $10/ticket and at least get a comfier seat. Lesson learned. read more

Heads up, they no longer validate parking. I used to go all the time to this theater. I think I'll start going back to the Columbus theater instead. $3 to park the car just to see a movie. No thanks! With all the upgraded theaters around the 757 area I am pretty disappointed we don't have a nice one in Downtown Norfolk. This theater seems like it's still living in the 90's... I went here to see the IT movie remake. The movie was great, but my experience came up short in the lackluster theater. First of all, we walked up to the register expecting to get tickets priced at $8.54 due to the Military Discount. Once we received our tickets we noticed they were priced about $1 higher. We then asked the ticket taking employee who said, "Oh, Idk why it says that up there because this is the price they usually are I think..." We then jumped in the ridiculously long line at the concessions stand, but realized we forgot to add our tickets onto our Regal card when we walked in. I went over to the same ticket taking employee and asked if he was able to load them on, he said "Well I think when you get them they automatically go on the card." I then advised him we did not use our card when paying for them, in which he replied "Well I think it automatically goes on there." So I rendered him useless and walked up to the register, in which they easily loaded them on the card for me. The Yelp Offer they have when you check in for 50% Off Popcorn is not actually a Yelp Offer. I got in line at the concessions again, thinking I would be able to use the coupon. About halfway through the ridiculously long line I realized when you clicked on the coupon it was nowhere in site on the next page. Useless. They also had a "FREE Popcorn when you sign up for text messages" sign, so I attempted to do that. The sign-up webpage would not let me sign up under my existing Regal account, instead I had to put it on a new email. Finally after fighting with the input data, I signed up and was told I would get my Free Popcorn coupon in 24-hours. Of course... 24-hours later I received the coupon, but it said it was loaded onto my Regal card and I could use it there only...What regal card? Very frustrated with things that should be simple, but Regal made them as complex as could be. read more

I'm spoiled back home with luxury recliners in my movie theater- so I expect that level of comfort in general. This theater is the classic theater- crammed in together- no room to scoot by other seated patrons to get to your seat in the center of the aisle. With pre- purchased, then line to get until the theater was insane & concessions was worse! 30 minutes to get popcorn & drinks. Granted- this is the movie to break all records- End Game, but still. Mediocre at best. We saw a movie in theater #12. There was a high pitched creaking noise from the AC ducts the entire time. 2 hours of hearing that made the whole movie pretty unpleasant. We complained to a manager about the issue and he refunded the tickets while noting that we weren't the first to complain about it. It wasn't actually the epitome of cinematic experiences, the popcorn was too moist and not salted enough. The slushee was mostly syrup and although there were only about 14 people total in line I still felt rushed by the staff and uncomfortable walking to and from the theatre. I am a popcorn maniac. So much so that I have been accused of just going to the movies for the popcorn and not the movie part of the trip. Now that I have shared that, this place may get the worst popcorn award. It was easily 1 week old. Easily. There was no popcorn being popped at the concession stand (it is all coming together in my head at the moment) AND the popcorn was handed to me already in the bag. (I should have seen it coming- such a rookie mistake). I ate a hand full and threw the rest of the bag away. I also ordered a medium beverage. It was within an ounce of needing a handle for the bucket like cup. The total was just at $14. Too much money for that amount of poor quality popcorn. Yuck! At the risk of being accused of stating the obvious- the movie theater itself was very very very dark. It was difficult after the movie started to move in the building- I would recommend replacing the floor lights... several of the other patrons tripped and stumbled while leaving during the film. This is the movie theater located on the top floor of MacArthur Center in downtown Norfolk. I recently saw the new Aquaman movie here during a late night showing. I would say the overall 3-star rating on this place is pretty accurate. The seats are old school and uncomfortable. Most other theaters nowadays have comfy reclining seats that do not feel constricting. I can't speak for the women's room, but the men's restroom was pretty bad; I've been to public places in third world countries that had cleaner restrooms. The only real upside is that the prices here are pretty affordable and they offer a generous military discount. read more

I won free tickets to see a movie on Wednesday night... I arrived about 6pm for the 7:30 showing. However, I wasn't seated until 7:05-7:10 pm. I wanted to get my seats first before I hit the consessions. I walked up to the concession line about 7:20pm. I saw only 3 lines open and about 30 people standing in line. I saw a few managers walking around, so there's no reason as to why I couldn't be back in my seat about 7:35 pm (If I miss they previews no biggie) or sooner. Do you know I did not return to the theater until 7:55 pm!!!! This was the worst experience EVER!!!!! I am unsure of the severe delay, but just observing the employees (looked under 21) took their time...I mean they all were extremely slow. Not one of them move with any sense of urgency and the Managers just stood in the background chit chatting and looking over their shoulder a time or two. I witnessed some ppl only order ice cream, popcorn and a drink etc. I mean simple stuff. So why in the world did it take soooooooooooooooooooo long. The gentleman behind me only wanted 2 boxes of milkduds. He pulled the Manager aside and gave him a lil piece of his mind. And he wasn't rude, but was definitely in order! I mean hor-ri-ble service!! I ordered a zap pack, order of fries and a small drink. Now they have fries shown, but I was informed they do not sell the fries individually...WHAT!!!! "There is no button for just fries" said the employee and the Manager chimes in to say, we don't sell them separately. So if I wanted fries, I was forced to get a preset meal that came with fries...so sucky!!! Well I ordered the boneless wings and fries (no drink came with it). After paying, the employee gave me a ticket and said wait down there and someone will bring my order to me...WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now this is getting way outta control. I waited forever to order my food and then I had to wait AGAIN to receive my food. Let's just this is my first and last time ordering from the concessions on a weeknight. Now only if there are a handful of ppl in line, I will consider ordering. But after that experience, I rather save my money. The theater itself is ok. It was comfy upon arrival but as time went on they blasted the air so high that when it was time to leave, my feet (I wore open toe sandals) were frozen and my body was super stiff. They do validate your parking ticket. So I only paid $.50 to park (a big plus). Nevertheless, proceed to this theater with caution. Have fun! read more

Alright so I know it's a small movie theater but they're going to have to start stepping their game up. Even regular movie theaters closer to home have started to convert to the recliner seats. I didn't realize how uncomfortable the standard movie theater seats were until I went here because I haven't had to sit in one for quite some time. The movie theater is still clean and still has a comfortable atmosphere. They have to realize though that it's in a mall and no one wants to pay extra two-part deal with the mall crowd just to go to the movie theaters without a little something extra. read more

It's been a while since I've been to this theater. The theater wasn't too busy since Haborfest was going on. Since the movie was a little older, the theater only had about 20 viewers. The sound and picture quality were good. A major complaint for me was the seating. I think I'm average height, but some say 6ft is not average. I have long legs too. I can't stand not having enough leg room. The seating here didn't offer much. I couldn't imagine if I was 6ft 2in or taller. I often had to stretch my legs to the side and shift their direction to alleviate the cramped feeling. On top of that, the back of the seats were as stiff as a door. It was an uncomfortable movie. I won't be going back. read more

The facility is great. Nestled withing the mall with its own wing on the top floor. There is even a parking entrance nearby, if you don't want to walk through the whole mall to get to the theater. This parking level is great if you are going to see a late movie that releases after the mall closes. The entire theater section is pretty clean. I was impressed with the screen quality and the seating. The seats are large and the seats were comfortable, not cramped. with high backs. I'm a huge fan of stadium seating, is there really any other way to do it? The arm rests can lift up which is great if you need a little extra room or if you just want to snuggle with your sweetie during the movie. One large seating area down the center flanked by Two narrow rows of seating. About 4-5 rows of up close seating. During my most recent visit here: For the first 7 minutes of the movie the 3D glasses were not working. Several wondered if the glasses were from a bad batch. When the control booth became aware of the issue they restarted the movie from the beginning and all was well from there. I had a wonderful experience, that's what happens when you're with great company :-) I did not visit concessions, perhaps I can review that on a future visit. read more

Regal Cinemas MacArthur Center Stadium 18 Movies. There are better cinemas out there but honestly this one is good too, big and spacious with an RPX wing for an upgraded sound and movie experience, now it's no IMAX but it is a step up over the ordinary movie theater. Just be prepared to pay a $5 up-charge. The other thing I like is it's convenient being on the third floor of the MacArthur mall in Norfolk. This is a really nice mall so that's a bonus for me especially on a rainy day when I have time to kill. I didn't see what other reviewers were complaining about I had a good experience. So to recap not the best theater I've ever been to but a solid one none the less. read more

Average theater. NASTY bathrooms. I get that most of what I'm showing in these photos is the fault of the customers. (What is wrong with people?) The two previous times I was here, I spoke to the manager about the condition of the bathrooms, but they were just as filthy when I came out of my movies. No action taken to clean them. I'm not coming back, because it makes me wonder about their food sanitation practices. The prices here are somewhat ridiculous, on top of the parking fee. I will say that the concession stand is pretty well worked even though only the main concessions tans was open. The line moved quickly and orders were handle correctly. The theaters were clean and not sticky like some others. My only issue with the theaters is the size of them and the seats. Some say the theaters are too cold but I've never had that issue. read more

Unflushed toilets, toilet paper and seat protectors scattered along the floor, and I don't even want to know what stall the smell was coming from. Ugh. Went to an afternoon show. Staff was bare bones. Spouse wanted to order food, so we waited 15 minutes for chicken nuggets. Saw a kids movie with only a few other people. Unfortunately, a group of 3 boys kept running up and down the aisles, in and out of the theater and the theater showing Solo. It was really obnoxious. Apparently, you can just wander in to whatever movies you want for as long as you want to watch movies. No staff present whatsoever. read more
