We love cinema cafe, but this location wasn't anything to write home about. The bathrooms were so dirty and overwhelmingly smelled like pee. The rest of the theater was pretty clean! A lot of the time we could hear guests/employees talking and laughing right outside of the theater doors while our movie was playing. Every time the employees came in, the door would let a significant amount of light in on the screen. It was super distracting. Also for the price, I feel like the chips and cheese could offer a bit more. It was tasty though, just not abundant. read more

I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a movie theater. After being seated, it took at least 15 minutes before my server came to take my order, and the theater wasn't even crowded. I ordered nachos with added chicken, cilantro, and sour cream, but received none of those items. After asking more than once about the missing ingredients, I was eventually told they couldn't find them. The condition of the bathrooms was unacceptable. There was toilet paper all over the floors, a strong smell of urine, several stalls had no toilet paper, and some toilets were overflowing with toilet paper that hadn't been flushed. It was clear the restrooms had not been maintained or cleaned properly. Between the poor service, incomplete food order, and unsanitary bathroom conditions, this was extremely disappointing. I expect much better from a movie theater experience and hope improvements are made. read more

I gave it a one because the food is horrible, at least at the Greenbrier Circle one. The amount you pay a pizza, which turns out to be a small personal pan pizza, is ridiculous. Their Nathan's Franks tasted like they took them out of the fridge or the freezer and let it thaw and slapped it in a bun. Their fries also leave a lot to be desired. While their serving staff is attentive, I'm puzzled as to why it takes them so long to serve us microwaved food. I gave it the other two stars because I like the smaller theater. Next time I'll try the one in Kempsville. Maybe they'll be better. read more

The theatre was okay, slightly different configuration than that at Kemps River. The onion rings were slightly too brown, over fried and their apple cranberry salad was smaller serving than what's served at Kemps River. My other issue is that the servers didn't take note to crouch when they took orders or talk to customers while the movie is on , it distracted me from being able to see the screen! read more

Walked in with my granddaughter to see a movie walked in all the employees were sitting around staring at me? Finally found our way back to the seats nobody asked for our order? Everyone around us had been served ate and drank while my two year old granddaughter sat there waiting? Movie started waitress very rude waited around for our drinks and popcorn. I had to ask for an additional cup with straw and got an attitude. I would rather serve myself and go to the movies at Regal vs this treatment. Sad I will not be back. We had a great time. Food is a little over-priced, but the ticket is cheap, and the fact that you have a waitstaff is with the money.

I can't complain too much because we had four people and it was only $29 so but that being said the waitress would come up at the worst possible moments and totally break the mood of the movie it was just terrible and that's not the worst thing just behind us was some people with a small child that was scared and crying and they just sat there and never left but the terrified crying child I had never considered that that would be a possibility in a movie before and last but not least it's never dark I guess because people eat there The lights are sort of always on and you just can't really get into a movie. read more

Ive been here a few times over the past decade. Since the Regal Theater shutdown, this is the closest theater to me... granted they were more-or-less on opposite sides of the street. As a movie theater, its just OK. The movie screens are small, so you arent getting a very cinematic experience. One of the speakers in the theater I was in last night was very clearly blown out and just making horrible noises when there was heavy bass being played. The electric recliners are nice and the food/drink tray work well enough. However, the food I have had there leaves a lot to be desired. Its overpriced, low quality, and often cooked poorly. Last night, I could only eat half the burger, as it was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. I remember the pizza I had last time was not good either. Im sure its just cheap, frozen food cooked by a teenager who doesnt give a crap. It is what it is. read more

Very comfortable too that they had to wake me and my girlfriend up cause we feel asleep watching a movie. Update. Came here two different times last week and I can say some of food is good like the pizza and goat gyro. First off, I'd like to start off by saying that it smelled like marijuana when I walked into the theater. After an hour of the movie playing; they accused me of lighting and smoking a blunt in the theater; Which is insane since I am active duty Military. They never once asked if I was smoking but approached me very disrespectfully by saying " My employee told me that they saw YOU smoking weed and you need to leave right now". I told them I have a vape but I never had a blunt in here. The shift manager, I'm assuming, continued to accuse me of smoking weed in the theater while the customers in front of me were actively passing a lit blunt. I pointed it out and his response was " Well they didn't get caught; you did" as if he wasn't physically see them pass this blunt back n forth with smoke filling the room. Location: This Cafe Cinema is located inside the Greenbrier Mall. It's a little difficult to find the right location to park based off directions alone. You do have to walk into the mall and navigate your way to the theater. Vibes: My kids and I were here for the sensory friendly showing of Moana 2. The sensory friendly showings happen on the first Saturday of the month, and are a great opportunity for parents with children on the spectrum to enjoy a movie. No judgment, and lots of fun. Food: We weren't here for the food, but it is an added plus. It's an amazing experience to be able to just sit down and not worry about getting up to order popcorn. My son wanted the kids pizza which comes with a drink and the options to add popcorn and ice cream. Which we did! I loved it, and so did he. Overall: It was an amazing experience, and I will definitely come back again. Kids loved it, and it's something we'll be thinking about forever. read more

Took the kids to watch the Minions. I think I enjoyed it more than them. I LOVE minions. Upon arrival, the older man at the ticket box was super friendly and helpful. Came back when they started seating and noticed the seats and carpet in the theatre were updated compared to when I came several years before. Service was great and they were on point compared to other Cinema Cafes. Ordered nachos and Ranch pizza. Everything was delicious and came out with extra napkins, plates, and didn't have to even ask for a to go box since they offered. Will start coming to this location from now on! read more

I've probably been to every cinema cafe in the area and I have to say this one is probably the worst. It's not god awful, but it's not great. I ordered chicken tenders and it tasted like maybe they hadn't cleaned the frier or something? There was something off about the way the crusting tasted and I couldn't eat it. Also hard to differentiate who was a worker or not. They seem to not really have a uniform I guess since a couple of the guys working were wearing saggy jeans down to their ass. Workers were also loud as hell outside of the theater. The walls aren't that thick in this place so you could hear everything and they were just super loud horseplaying before coming in. Which is fine, but like...maybe be quieter? Lol but overall the service was good and they were friendly. Don't think this is the theater I'll be going to any time soon tho read more

My favorite of all the Cinema Cafes due to being in the mall. I only wish their movie selection was better. I'd go a lot more often, but they go overboard picking kid's movies. For instance, I get Muffasa and Sonic 3, but Dog Man?!? No one's going to see that! Companion would have been a much better choice. While I would expect that dinner and a movie might be a little overpriced, but you've gotta be kidding me. Maybe deliver the entrees as described on the menu and perhaps clean the screen every once and a while. Photo 1 - ordered the southwest bowl, arrived with rice, beans, shrimp, and drenched with "boom boom sauce", no peppers, no onions, no cilantro, no mango pico. The serving size was a joke as well, is this supposed to be French bougie sh!t. Photo 2 - several 2 foot diameter drink splatters on the screen visible throughout the movie. I normally don't watch movies at Cinema Cafe - I usually just want to check out the movie while not going overboard with food and drink. Especially since Cinema offers alcohol, I want to avoid that temptation. Plus, Cinema Cafes aren't operated by Regal nor AMC, so I can't use the movie viewer programs those chains offer. But with Bill & Ted Face the Music only playing here (and my desire to see it on a big screen as opposed to watching it at home), I figured it was time to check them out. With businesses adapting their daily operation due to COVID, they offered a convenient way to check-in. First you can purchase your tickets in advance - in my case, I bought my ticket online, upon which I was able to reserve and choose my seat. Like Regal & AMC, certain seats were blocked out to allow for social distancing. After I bought my ticket, a confirmation email was sent to me which included a QR code. At the front entrance, you use the scanner to read your QR code, your ticket is printed out and in you go. When I walked in, I was impressed at this location's cleanliness. When I was a kid, this was just a regular movie theater (I saw Back to the Future here during its original theatrical run - that's how old this theater is, not to mention me), but this place looks much nicer than it did back in the day. I walked into my theater and guests were already being served. If I'm correct, customers can come in early so they can have their meal before the movie, so there won't be any distractions during the movie. I didn't think about this - I arrived about 15 minutes before showtime. My server came to me after helping out those who had arrived beforehand and brought me a menu (I didn't realize there were paper menus located at the entrance for me to take inside), upon which I ordered an appetizer - potato skins. I also ordered 2 beers (not at the same time!) to wash the skins down. The potato skins, much to my surprise, were excellent. They weren't too greasy, just the right size and didn't look to be of the microwave variety. And the beers, which I ordered in bottles, were excellent. On top of that, my server was friendly and moved with a sense of urgency for myself and the other guests. And, since we're living in a different time, she wore a facemask for the duration. I enjoyed my experience here, thanks to the good food and excellent service. If all movie theaters were like this I'd be good to go. Cinema Cafe did well enough to make me consider coming here more often. All they need is a movie viewer program. JV read more

I have along time patron of the cinema cafe in Kempsville since it's closer Greenbrier even though it's in Virginia Beach. I went to see Megan and thought it was a wacky Wed price but it wasn't because it was new. I ordered chicken nachos and Dr Pepper. i asked them to make sure my chips are covered and not dry. the cheese came out cold on the chips. Most of the chips had no cheese and they charged me an extra $2.00 on top of it already costing 13 dollars. The waiter was rude and the manager I called over and she adjusted the bill. the guy never even returned to get my car d. Just pain rude! The manager came and got my card and bill. smh read more

If it's opening weekend why didn't they order enough. Very disappointing. Waiter was very nice and the boneless wings were good. The cheese pizza the kids wasn't best. There'll never be a time when dinner and a movie won't make the day better. This is my first time at this specific theater cafe. As many times as I've been to this mall, i never knew it was actually a cínema cafe. The movie I seen was in one of tue smaller auditoriums, with an open aisle that split the rows. The bigger auditoriums have rows all the way across, only allowing entrance and exit on the outside of the theaters. Im not sure what that reason is for, but I like a a different tone with each visit. The food exceeded my expectations. I thought the tenders and fried would be frozen with barely any meat and maybe 3-4 small ones. I actually had about 5-7 and they were big and juicy. Fries were nice and hot. The dessert portions were also bigger than expected. I got the Robert Brownie Jr and funnel cake fried. Didn't touch either because I was STUFFED from the entre. I had to get a to go box. Sheesh. That's never happened at a movie theater before. The chairs were leather, cushioned, and reclined pretty far back. So happy there was more than enough room between the rows for the "actors" to walk through. I will definitely be back. Loves it. read more

First time visiting and for such a small entrance there's quite more that meets the eye! Waited at the bar while waiting for a friend to come with the tickets. Once in, it didn't take too long to find our seats. I would definitely suggest coming early to find your seats and at least get your order started. A lot of people had their food already, but I personally like eating mine during the movie. Essentially a good idea but not so much when the movie is starting and your waiter is nowhere to be found. Took us asking two people & about 15 minutes for someone to finally come and assist us. They mention "let me know if you need anything else!" But how? There's no button to push to get their attention aside from flaying your hands and pushing out some hard whispers when you see your possible waiter walk by. Overall, good and drinks were pretty good though one or two of my mozzarella sticks were busted with no cheese in them. Seat was dirty and had to wipe that down myself with a wet wipe I was given. New reclinable seats and cheap matinee prices of $6.00 per adult and $4.50 for kids you can't beat the prices. They are on point when it comes to service and I love that my family and I can get a good price for a full pizza, popcorn and pitcher of drinks. It is perfect for my family of 5. We watched the movie Shang-Chi and had great seats. I've also came with groups of 18 people and surprisingly I was able to get all of us to sit together. I love this location because it is a local establishment and Cinema Cafe has been so supportive even to help local businesses like my church with popcorn and tickets for our events. This movie theater establishment beats Amc and regal... in my opinion as far as pricing and customer service! read more

Wow I was impressed! It's been a few years since I have been here and the remodel of the rooms are nice! It used to be long rows of big tables! Now they have the reclining chairs with a little table that can rotate out of the way. When you walk up there is the screen where you can pick your own chairs. We went to see the nee paw patrol movie! It was pretty fun and cute. The food was pretty decent. We all ordered chicken tenders with fries. And when they say jumbo they mean it! Small theaters but spacious seating with rolling leather chairs that remind me of office computer chairs. I love having a waitress to come bring me things while the movies playing. The food is actually good. My favorite thing to get is the loaded nachos... fam believe me the nachos are so good! The service though can be lacking depends on what waitress or waiter you get. Most of them appear to be young college kiddies who are on the phone all the time. So 8 times out of 10 you are going to have to put in an extra wave when flagging the staff down but when you finally get there full attention they do provide great customer service. read more

My first time watching a movie at this Cinema cafe location. It seems that they have updated the theaters which is a big plus! The theater I went in had reclined seats with the mini table connected. My kids loved it. The employees seemed really busy so it took a while to get our orders in but no biggie since the movie hasn't started yet. We just ordered some of the chicken tenders and fries and it was a great amount for the price, I was able to share with my two younger kids. We will definitely come by here more often. Hey what's new? Just about everything! I haven't been here since last year and I was very surprised when I walked in. The whole lobby was redone. Nice and comfortable leather(ish) chairs. Wide open space.Cool swirly modern carpet. Better lighting. A few video games around the perimeter as usual. a lighted bar in the lobby. The theater itself seems pretty much the same. But perhaps a bit improved. The bathrooms have been refaced. Nice smooth slate gray floors and walls. Neon Back-lit mirrors. The toilet in stall two looked pretty rough and tore up. They should definitely replace the seat. FYI the movie begins at the start time listed. One minute late and you will for sure miss the beginning of the movie. read more

This Cinema Cafe is newly remodeled with the nice reclining seats and trays. The recliners are very comfortable. This is the cheapest date you can get. It is $5 a ticket and you can get a $5 pizza. You can't beat the price. The server comes by to take your order. There was three choices of movies. We watched Chaos Walking. It's a sci-fi movie. It really wasn't my preference type of movie and could have been a better production. Go out and support Cinema Cafe - comfortable seating. read more

This Greenbrier location is probably my least fav of all the Cinema Cafe's. Sound was too low during the entire movie. Theater was packed too. Service was crazy slow. Even though food was still decent, it took awhile to come out. No one checked on us to see how we were doing. No one asked if there was anything else we needed. Still loving Cinema Cafe overall! 6/14/18: It was my first time here. The food was good, BUT the volume of the movie was so loud. I thought my eardrums would pop. My 8 yr old spent more time plugging his ears with his fingers than eating his pizza. I couldn't take pics of our food because it was too dark in the theatre when it came. I got shrimp/fries which was fresh & hot. My son got a kids pizza meal & a junior brownie with chocolate sauce. I didn't care for the taste of the brownie, but he loved it. There were a lot of gnats flying around & the staff constantly stopped in front of us blocking the screen, which was annoying. They didn't do it briefly. They stood there like they were taking a break...IN FRONT OF US. I probably won't go back to this location, but I will definitely visit a different one. read more

I went to go see "It" with a friend at this theater last week. Service was wonderful! We had such an awesome waitress and the prices were pretty good. My only complaint is that when the waitress asked me if I wanted butter on my popcorn and I said yes, I thought she meant because there's unbuttered and buttered. The popcorn she brought out was soooooooooo buttery it made my ears curl. I guess they add more butter on top of the already buttery popcorn. I don't know if they've tasted that themselves but my god it was way too buttery. read more

What a great place to catch a movie! I came here on a double date to see "Us" because the other cinema cafe in the Kempsville area had sold out. The theater is very well-kept and clean. The food selection is great and pretty good prices considering it is a movie theater. I ordered the sampler platter which was very filling. It came with moz sticks, nacho cheese with chips, 2 soft pretzels, chicken tenders and corn dogs. I definitely had to share and I still had chips and nachos left over. I ordered the creamsicle crush to drink. It was around $8. Not a bad size for that price. The staff who helped us was very friendly. My only complaint would be that the office chairs they have aren't very comfortable but that wouldn't keep my from ever returning. Overall great theater experience. read more

I'm very disappointed but the people their are really friendly.
