Love this theatre SO much! I had been wanting to check it out, but with a pre-teen and toddler, it's hard to find something they'll both like. My husband were given a gift card about 18 months ago. We ordered tickets online and chose to pickup the same day. From the ticket purchase,greeting the evening of the movie, seating, snack order, viewing the movie to the "thank you " as we left, customer service was above and beyond. Now, our date night event of choice is a movie at this location. We plan to take the 3 little ones I often sit with to experience a movie and their own individual snack box. read more

Going to the movies since COVID has been far away in my mind but this spot has me considering adding movies back on my things to do list! Cinebistro wasn't showing the movie we wanted to see so we went here instead. Purchased tickets online a week ahead and was able to select desired seating. I love this feature! When we arrived, we checked in at a kiosk that printed our tickets. This was our first time so we didn't really have clear instructions on what to do or where to go so clearer instructions for us first timers would've been helpful. However, we asked nearby staff who was very helpful with guiding us. When we arrived at our theater, we were able to easily find our seats. The rows were very well spaced apart. There was a button on the seats to notify the attendant that we wanted to order food. They were a bit backed up since they only had 1 person taking orders but our server Dae was amazing. She was so polite and attentive! Now, y'all, the food was . I got a burger and it was juicy and flavorful. The fries came out hot and crispy. This was an amazing experience. This place has gone downhill in the year since I've last visited...MANY broken seats, they delayed showtime to try and fix some of them. My seat wouldn't recline properly. The tables attached to the seats are sagging and don't stay where you put them. Customer service went downhill too; we sat at the bar and never got waited on and opted to just order at our seats...that took forever and a day. Asked for CC device and that was never brought, and YES I checked the movie we were seeing had them available on the Cinema Cafe website. My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday as a surprise to see the second avatar movie. I enjoyed the experience overall. The drinks were a fair priced and good. The food wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. I'm not upset for what I paid for. To experience a movie in a chair that was comfortable and laid-back was great. He got to pick our chairs specifically when booking tickets. I will say we ordered our food prior to the movie starting which is suggested online. however, for the people that got there late and had to order once the movie started, I did not like having the waiter walk back-and-forth in front of us. I felt like during the climax of the movie, we missed a lot due to being behind someone who was ordering something. Towards the end as they were wrapping everything up and the movie got to a good part they came by and asked for our payment. This sucked because it was a very important part of the movie as well. This is my favorite movie theater in the Richmond area. I'd say every experience here is 5 stars, with the exception of today. As i'm seated in the theater at the time of this review, it's been about 45 minutes since i placed an order for food. I just got my popcorn maybe 35 minutes into the movie. Pretty frustrating that me and my daughter's food wont get here until the movie is almost over... hopefully this doesn't happen again. The experience could have been better. I arrive 30mins before the movies started as directed. Ordered my food and didn't receive it until the end of the movie, and they ended up giving me the wrong food. We went to sit down the seats had food all in them and the table tops were not wiped. Why were we so late to the Cinema Cafe game ?? There is no way I will ever watch a movie in a traditional theater again. First, it's not overpriced. Then the seats. Everyone gets their own recliner. Like full on motorized raise your feet recliner. And giant aisles. So if you do have to get up during the movie, there is no need to step over anyone. And food? Ok, it's bar food. But it's all perfectly good. Our party had cheeseburger, pretzel bites, potato skins. One had the club wrap and said it was good. Beer, wine, daiquiris. And very fast service right to your chair. We spent no more on food this trip than we would have on popcorn and drinks at the mall theater. Seriously, if you haven't been here just go. Even if you weren't planning to see a movie. Came back to today for Indiana Jones. The check in was flawless today, the waiter fantastic, and the food was good. Had a breakfast pizza since we were at the 9:30 am showing. Went to see Gladiator 2. Yesterday morning 9:30 am showing. We sit down and waited on quickly. Wife ordered drink and popcorn. I ordered a supreme pizza. Drinks and her popcorn came out. After waiting on pizza for a few minutes I reminded the waiter that I ordered a pizza. He acknowledged and walked away. Pizza never came out. No apology. Had to remind them to take it off bill. My wife and I have been going to this theatre ever since we moved to Richmond 3 years ago. Service and food were always great. But the last 2 times we came the food took over an hour to arrive. And it was cold. After experiencing the same low level of service a third time I asked to speak to the manager. Trevon, the manager immediately addressed my concerns made everything right. He gave me his business card and invited me to let him know the next time we came. I did just that. I sent him a text letting him know we were in the theater. Nice seating . First time and was so excited. I figured this would be a great date night, not the usual dinner and a movie but dinner at the movie. There is plenty of lighted parking and since it's a holiday weekend it's definitely packed. I choose a late movie to avoid the little ones ( noise) and just wanted to enjoy the movie. A added bonus was that today was National Cinema dah and the tickets were reduced. Woot woot! Picking up my tickets went smoothly ( ordered online to avoid the line) and I'm off to get seated. The nice hostess( not sure if waitress or hostess is correct) asks for my order. Popcorn baby! Gimme the biggest you have and I'm told the 1 popper broke down yesterday. WTW... y'all better go up the street and get another one. I'm so disappointed. This just killed my mood because I've had a hard and long day at work and this was supposed to be the sunshine of my day. I must say the reclining chair helped with putting my feet up and having someone bring me my food was refreshing. This extra service helped with the enjoyment of not missing a single moment of the movie. It was a lil nerve wrecking when I was distracted by food being delivered to me that I didn't order. A new theater in the RVA area, where most other theaters have been built long ago and definitely look like it. This theater (part of a medium-sized seemingly Virginia-centric theater chain which otherwise has not been present in the Richmond area till this facility's construction) is flashy, clean, and modern in every respect. The prices are noticeably more affordable than larger chains and the theater is incredibly well-staffed with a massive, dedicated parking lot just to its own facility. However the most distinctive part about this location is the name - Cinema 'Cafe'. I've found the food quality and selection here to be remarkable, better than most diners I've ever come across. They have a ton of options ranging from pizzas to deserts to more complex dishes and all at affordable prices (in contrast to other dine-in theaters which seem to elevate their prices quite a bit without necessarily a corresponding increase in quality). They also have a regular cafe/dining area with a full service bar. The actual theaters are quite impressive too, with what stands out the most being how big, soft, comfy, and movable (incline) the seats are. The seats also have little tables and cupholders, as well as an attendant button. Excellent design. Overall this theater is an incredible addition to the RVA area and, even though it fills the 'theater void' in the Southeastern part of the Richmond region it undoubtedly can be a real competitor for the entire RVA too. read more

The prices for food are a bit high; however, it's obvious they put effort into their food choices, food quality, and the service. Seriously the worst movie experience I have had, and that's including being dragged to Sharkboy and LavaGirl years ago. We arrived early, as we knew we were seeing a sold out show. We got to our seats right when they opened the theatre. The waiter came and took our order 20 minutes before the previews even started. That's where the "good" part of our experience ended. The environment was chaotic- we had to ask multiple times for the rest of our order. My husband got his pizza after about 15 minutes, but it took another 40 to get my food, and took a full hour from when we ordered to get our 2 sodas brought to us. People who entered the theatre after the movie began were served before we were...and nothing came with napkins. A girl brought those around separately after food had been served. I go to movies to relax and enjoy a good story, and this felt anything but relaxing. It was highly disorganized and mismanaged. read more

First time trying this place out because I know theaters can be hit or miss these days. Purchased tickets/reserved seats a couple days ahead. The tickets say "print at home ticket" which is a little confusing/misleading. You don't actually need to print out a ticket. You can scan the ticket at a self serve kiosk as you walk in. There is a bar as you first walk in, however, we bypassed that. The theater itself appeared clean. My seat not so much. There was old popcorn and something sticky down the side of the seat so I had to try and sit to one side the whole time. The seats are pretty comfortable. I didn't order any food as I have some dietary restrictions and there weren't many options that met those restrictions. My sister got the popcorn and it was mostly tiny pieces & appeared to be the bottom of the batch. The service from our waiter wasn't bad but wasn't good. He came around mid movie with the bill and then left for about 15 minutes. He then came back and ask if we were going to pay. This was super off putting since he stood right in front of us while we dug our debit cards out in the dark during the last portion of the movie we paid to actually SEE. The movie was really good and the sound/picture was nice which is what earned it 2 stars. Most likely won't be back. read more

Went here for the first time on Christmas day because my grandson wanted us to go. The seats are comfortable and that is the end of the good stuff. We were early, but the order taking was very close to the start of the movie and seemed to take a long time for the server to get it placed. Took a very long time to get our food and it was beyond terrible. I had the cheesesteak. It was small dry and flavorless. I had ordered a drink, but I had to stop eating halfway through the sandwich because it hadn't showed up. My sandwich was totally cold by the time the drink arrived. Had asked for salt, never showed up. We had also ordered popcorn. Ours never showed up and the server's response was "well we can give you a discount for it"??? Discount something that I didn't get?? Anyway food aside it's a good thing that the movie wasn't one with an involved plot because between the servers walking back and forth in front of the screen, and the family next to me wearing headphones and his daughter talking and going in and out of the theater, I think that I will avoid this place. As much as movies cost and as much as their food costs for the poor quality, I will go elsewhere, eat first, buy my drink and popcorn at the concession stand and enjoy the show. We were offered complementary tickets but I gave them away. That got the one star. read more
