I went to see Obsession and I been to this theaters many times before and my experience here is very good, the staff are great and one of them even told me what room my movie was at, the popcorn was amazing, has a great mix of salty and buttery, my ICEE Coke drink was amazing sour patch kids were great also. Came here for the first time and watched Lilo & Stitch. I bought the tickets online and they scanned my QR code and printed out the mini paper tickets. You can also by tickets in person at the kiosks or at the box office. If it's your first time here, park near Planet Fitness and walked to the glass doors, and you will enter the shopping mall. Go down the escalator, and the movie theatres are at a corner of the mall food court. This movie theatre only has 5 theatre rooms. It was "empty" when I went on a Friday around 6:30pm. I was about to get a small popcorn but the cashier had a free medium popcorn available (I guess someone didn't want it?) so that was my lucky day - as the cashier register said. She was kind! It was easy to locate the seats. They are recliner & heater seats which is awesome! I also like the wall between each of the rows because you can't really see anyone infront of you or behind you - makes it feel more private. Once we left the theatre, it was crowded and it didn't even feel like it when we were inside the theatre room. Restrooms were fine as well. I would come back here again for another movie. read more

We came here for Tron: Ares a while ago and I was impressed. I've been to a handful of movie theatres, including, Mountain View, Santa Clara, Westfield Valley Fair, and they were all just okay. The seats at those other ones were cracked, the floors were sticky, but the movie quality was as expected. For here, the Hayward one, it was great! I don't know if they just re-did the theatre we were in but the seats were great, everything was clean, and overall, one of the better movie experiences I've had. There are two Century Theatres in the city of Hayward, and this one is located at Southland Mall. Entrance to the cinema is a little tricky. After you enter the mall, you need to take the escalators down to the lower level where the food court is, in order to access the theater lobby which is very basic and a little bare. Just a few small tables with seating, and a concessions stand that is different than most other theaters, pretty much everything behind the order counter. We came by for the matinee showing of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice this past Sunday, and the place wasn't busy, no waits, no problems. The place was clean, hardly any interaction with staff necessary since our ticket purchase was made online in advance, and the seats in the auditoriums were comfortable and in excellent condition (they don't extend far out, but I still appreciate this theater offering luxury recliners). Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a wacky and entertaining sequel, and this theater provided a satisfactory movie-going experience on our recent visit. read more

I would rate this place a 0 if I could. The general manager doesn't treat the staff with any sort of humanity whatsoever. Pretends to care then causes all of his employees and managers to leave or get fired. Constantly cuts everyone's hours and gives employees and managers less than 10 hours a week. Shifts are also constantly pushed back or pushed to start earlier. If you care about employees being treated with any sort of decency boycott this place. As for general safety, none of the employees were trained for food handling and constantly make health violations, do not eat any of the food there unless you want to get sick. Dishes that are in contact with food on a regular basis are put to dry on the floor. There's always sightings of mice around the building as well. If you also care about your wellbeing boycott this place. read more

I've had great experiences here for a while, but last night while watching The Black Phone 2, it was the worst. The movie was great, but it's hard to watch it when these teens started being disruptive during the movie. They started yelling, blocking the screen, and throwing popcorn at each other. Just half way through the movie, my sister and I had enough, so we just left. We asked the employee and they already know why we left the movie. The theater itself is good and clean. But twice now, I've gotten bad service from the food counter, specifically the two Asian guys (one bigger set and the other is short), during the night shift. They're always rude and have an attitude. Both times they stood around just talking and acts bothered if you as a customer ask for something. Haven't been to the theatre in ages and since they've opened up, thought we'd see what it's like these days. Here's the main tips: come on a weekday at the earliest matinee -- not only is it discounted, but you get almost the entire theatre to yourself, and the best choice of seats! Plus it greatly reduces your covid exposure since no one is around you. Is that a win-win-win? Since we were saving our appetites for a late lunch, we only got a small popcorn and small icee to share. Wild cherry flavor icee was perfect and I think the value of the small sizes are actually good! Mediums are the worst value probably. Best part about this theatre are the seats -- all of them are loungers!!! Ahhh so relaxing and enjoyable with the nice extra space, big arm rests, legs up and soft cushions. Can't beat that. I wanted to personally think Chris Hernandez the manager at Century Southland store 1138. I had a movie date with my wife however, my little son got sick and she ended up having to stay home to take care of him. I went to go get popcorn so that we can enjoy a movie at home. I was sad to learn that the bags that they put the popcorn in we're not available. Chris overheard this and went out of his way and found a shipment that came in so that he could for fill my order. Chris went above and beyond, and out of his way to help me and I was able to bring popcorn home for my wife and I to watch a movie. Thank you so much,Chris! I like this theatre because it is a small intimate space. The seats recline and are heated.Your order can be delivered to your seat. It's usually pretty clean. My only issue is the slushy machine often has issues. Staff are always friendly. The air conditioner is not turned up to polar ice freeze. read more

Giving 5 stars because of location. I love theaters with reclining chairs! So having one near me now with less traffic is terrific. I live in Oakland and hate having to drive a good 35 mins all the way to damn near Fremont to AMC Newpark or go down to busy ass Emeryville and have to fight for compact parking! They officially opened last Thursday. I haven't yet went, but I've seen constructions and remember what it looked like before! So I can't wait to catch my first movie here soon. I wanted to point out two outstanding staff members (Christian and Maria) who helped me. My family and I were running late on the movie we booked online. I called in 20 mins before the show started and asked to see if I could switch to a different movie and a later time. Maria said yes, and Christian booked my family to another movie. 30 mins into the horror movie, my little boy got scared and wanted to leave. We packed up and left. The best part, they offered my family guest passes to come back and watch something more suitable for younger kids. Thank you for the awesome customer service. read more

I went here when they were first opened and it was amazing. Everything was upgraded and you dont have to fuss with long lines because there are only a certain amount of movies they are playing. They have machines up in the front to pick up and/or pay. They also have a cashier near the concession stand if you dont want to pay using those machines. I came back to view a movie they were playing since this theater is smaller and not as packed as other movie theaters. What I did not like: 1. Apparently they enforced a policy where you cannot bring bags bigger than a certain size (I want to say 12 x 12 x ?). Honestly that is very annoying especially if you were shopping in the mall and have shopping bags. They tell you to either put it in the car or give you clear trash bags and dump your belongings in there. That is pretty ridiculous. I am not sure what happened for the theater to enforce this policy. So if you do plan to visit this theater, make sure you don't bring large bags or go shopping after you gone to the movies. 2. We arrived to the movies about 30mins before it was showing and the ticket taker told us that they are still cleaning the room. Which was fine so we waited outside. The seating area was a mess. Spilled drinks and food around the area. Rather than waiting outside, we just wondered around the mall. What I still like: Seats are still comfy. Spacious room even when people try to walk in and out of their seats. read more

We've just recently returned to in-theater movies. I love that Century offers an app to pre-order seat tickets and concessions. We love the heated, reclining loungers in the theaters - and that you can order in the app and have your food/beverages delivered to your seat! One thing I don't like about the Southland Century is that they only show a few movies at a time - and they run one kid movie in several theaters. If we want to see the good stuff, we have to go over to the Century theater on B street - which does NOT have the reclining loungers. This theater is located at Southland Mall, so there is ample parking and many alternatives if you want to shop or have dinner before or after your movie. Although the mall will sometimes close even though the theater is open. read more

Love this theater! Located on the lower level near the food court. First time I came was for The Lion King; even though I arrived early I missed the beginning because the food took so long. Spoke with a manager and got a refund for the food. This time I skipped the food. It wasn't crowded and I was so comfortable in my recliner during the movie. I was cold and noticed the chair has a heat setting which helped a lot; just had to keep clicking it throughout the movie because it goes off. This isn't the largest theater and the movies they have are limited. read more

Pros: Latest 4K projections Amazing seat rattling sound system Best luxury lounge seats + heated warmers with 3 settings This is the newest Cinemark in California so it has the latest tech and amenities. IMO it's one of the nicest theaters in the area. The food court is outside with new eateries coming soon. (Hang Ten, Boba time, Baby HK cafe etc) a few more sit downs surrounding the front entrance would make it more inviting next to shiekh shoes and the newly expanded Forever 21 (now open) Along with Round 1, Seafood City (now open), this mall has come along way. Keep the improvements coming and less shoes stores :) read more

Hubby and I haven't been to the movies in so long, so we decided to come here! I remember when they had announced opening up a movie theater at Southland but since then I haven't been. It is located on the bottom where the food court is at. Once you get near you start to get that movie theater smell with the popcorn, i love it! You can either order your tickets up front with a ticket agent or they have a place right by the entrance where you can purchase tickets their on your own. The place is very clean. From what I've read, all the theaters have reclining chairs! Yes! We arrived and the theater is not as big as most other locations, but that's okay. I still really enjoyed my time. The seats were comfy and we enjoyed the movie a lot! We will most definitely be coming back here for our movie viewing, because why not? read more

We were told we could not enter the movie theater with the bag in the picture because it violates their policy. I understand if I had a huge shopping bag but this is a small bath and body works bag and you can easily see the contents. Do not come here if you plan on shopping before you go to the movies, idk because it's a MALL. I'm not going to my car in the pouring rain to drop off a small bag that would probably fit in my purse but decided to carry. This is a ridiculous policy and every other century theaters I've been to has not said a thing about the bags that I carry into the movie theater. While this is the premiere place for movies in the Mall and does have luxurious seating, I would like to point out that the snack lines need to be better managed. We went to see Lion King and was 10 minutes there before the movie started and waited in line what seemed like a total of 20 minutes! Employees who look like managers walking back and forth, not doing anything. It was super slow. And then I went into the beer line and waited about 10 minutes there, almost missed the ending of my movie. My husband and I felt super frustrated when we were standing in the movie line, this place is too small to handle large crowds on days where premiere movies are playing. Even though the one on B Street is older, it is more efficient at monitoring the snack lines. Enough is enough, either they find some plan to manage the snack and drink bar better or we're going to go to another Century theater, avoiding this one and their slow lines. read more

So this place was under construction for so long but it is finish now went here to watch aquaman it was a good movie. This place is awkwardly down stair by the food court.
