Century Southland Mall might be the dirtiest new theater in the bay area. This new theater was suppose to bring Southland Mall back to life. Unfortunately it just blended in with the mess. Take a look a the floor and you'll find it flooded with popcorn. But wait there's a surprise. There's popcorn all over the seats as well. It's almost like the Easter egg hunt. Whoever finds the most popcorn tucked away in their seat wins the special prize. Seriously, this place is suppose to be brand new and the seats are feeling greasy and dirty already. The maintenance and sanitation in this theater is questionable. I'm sure the movie goers are to blame for the mess as well but the staff needs to act quicker in clearing the mess in the lobby and inside the theaters. It's somewhat of a perk to have the theater located inside the mall. One - the food court is right next to it which offers more food options than popcorn and sodas. It's also not a bad way to kill time if the movie you chose does not start anytime soon. Window shopping or retail therapy could be another alternative pre or post movie screening. Century Southland might not be the nicest theater in the Bay Area but it's a nice additions for the Hayward locals. read more

I had being going to the movies because is closer from home and also is not as pricy as other theaters. Yesterday Sunday April 16 we went to watch Mario bross movie and I left my backpack on the side of the couch I heard a noise but didn't realize that after an hour we were gone after the movie was over that my coach Sun glasses weren't in my back pack , I headed back to the theater to ask them to seek for them and they said they didn't find anything and they were going to try after their shift . The glasses felt with the case in between couches on the back side so there is no way that another customer saw them and took them . They never ever called me to pick them up , be aware that if you drop something or you lost and item in this theater you will never get your belongings back . read more

Been here like 5 times in a row for the past 6 months. Every single time there ICEE Machine was broken. They only have the same soda you can get from a vending machine. Will be sneaking in soda cans next time instead of buying the same exact thing for 10x as much. Until they fix their ICEE machines that is. Any year now. read more

Wish I could give zero star, Horrible customer service, the guy who check in tickets was rude. He didn't let us in because of the bag.. he didn't even check what's inside it. We had to go home without watching a movie . Wasted movie ticket. read more

Entrance is at the food court downstairs, i think 4-5 self serve kiosk to purchase tickets.. reserved seating which i think is nice. They serve alcohol which is a plus for those who enjoys a drink. Every employee i meant so far has been nice. They do check bags so no sneaking in food or drinks (bummer cus i always bring food in) looks like they serve other food besides nachos, hot dog and popcorn... but we were running late so didnt have time to really look at menu. We've been here a few times now and while it's a small theatre (only 5 screens) they have super comfy recliner seats with heat. Their popcorn is always fresh and hot and the staff is always friendly. Also since it's in the mall you can go walking around or jump in one of the comfy massaging chairs to the right of the main entrance if you get there too early. read more

It was a little confusing finding entrance to the theater, you have to go down into the food court. The computer touch screens are easy to use and the staff is friendly (so far, during this visit) clean seats, roomy feet space and heater option for chairs. Nice addition for the southland mall. Only issue during this visit was the lines at the concession stand and the kids who have no home training being loud in the movie theatre. They should have a shut your mouth intro during the movie previews. read more

3, 2, 1, Action, time to check out a new flick at the new Century Southland! It has 5 small theaters with new "luxury" loungers that are heated and recline. We have a "luxury" Century near my house, the seats are wide, recline farther, and have food tray tables. The seats here are narrower and do not have cup or tray tables to hold food, so you get to eat off of your lap. I like reserved seating, no need to ever come to the theater more than 10 minutes to grab some snacks at seat at your assigned seat. Great sound in the theater. Tickets here are much cheaper than on the other side of the bay, only $6 matinee, which means the Cinemark &8.99 movie club is overpriced for this location. Overall a good experience. read more

This movie theater is located near JCPENNEY. You can see the sign from the freeway. It's located downstairs in the food court. You can either pay for your ticket at the kiosk *credit card only, or if paying by cash they have a cashier. You have to reserve seats at the kiosk. It shows you what seats are available. So if you are going to see a movie that just came out & they have it in a smaller theater then I suggest you get there early to get seats! I think they only have 5 theatres. The one I was in only seated 50 people. I saw one that seated 68 people. Not sure what capacity the others hold. The seats up front recline & you can push a button to add heat! No sure if all seats can recline or be heated. Bathrooms are clean. They also have a family bathroom. This is a cool theater. Think I'll be back. They do sell alcohol & Starbucks. Plenty of parking available too! read more

This is my new favorite place to see a movie! I love the large, comfortable reclining chairs with built-in seat warmers. The screens and sound combined with the upgraded chairs make for a luxurious and enjoyable experience. Conveniently located in Southland Mall, this century offers all the traditional theater fare you've come to expect with the added benefit of being steps away from the food court (if you prefer to eat before or after your movie). What keeps me from offering that fifth star is the small size of the theater (only four or five screens, I believe), so options are limited. Also, finding the entrance can be a little tricky at first. Finally, one of the brand new chairs I was assigned had a broken seat-warmer, which was a bummer since I tend to run cold. My reserved seat was dirty and I had to clean it myself. Also, I had bought a drink in the food court and didn't think anything of bringing it in because there are no signs saying you can't but the worker stopped me and I had to throw it out. Other than that, the kiosks make for easy transactions and the chairs even heat up - something I hadn't seen before. read more

This theater is really clean , and really comfortable. The staff seemed very friendly and with good customer service. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 star is because it only has 5 auditoriums with in my opinion should be way more. Other than that I would definitely come back and enjoy my movie here with no problem. read more

I'm so glad this theater opened up. It's convenient and I usually just simply order tickets for reserved online. No fee if you join the monthly ticket club which I did. I always just come here to watch a movie in a pinch. The place is on the smaller side but it's clean and all the seats are recliner and I believe heated. A great thing to have at our local mall. Come out and support this place and the new movie Godzilla King of the Monsters! It rocked! read more

I expected this theater to be larger, so I was a tad bit disappointed to find that the theater is small, with about 5 or so screens. I also don't like that you have to go into and through the mall in order to get in or out of the theater... however, I do realize that they are still under construction, so I'm sure they'll be improving and adding more things. Despite that, staff was very friendly. I love the quick and easy self service ticket machines. Theater and bathrooms were very clean. I came to see Aquaman and really enjoyed the experience! The inside of the theater itself is quite large and they have reclining heated seats! I will be returning and do recommend this theater to anyone else. read more

Spacious seats I love the fact of the chair is empty next to you you can lift the armrest and give your self extra space (a plus for my girls with thick hips) , super comfy, always CLEAN we go there, and I love that the recliners have seat warmers when it gets cold (3levels of warmth) It's definitely our "go-to" theatre. So first off need to go downstairs past food court in mall, escalator broken, so hike down or for disabled crame into elevator. Entrance to theater doors look like entering some random back room. 2 ticket sales people, 4 or 5 ticket kiosks, couple food lines. Standard movie eats, candy section sucks. 5 total screens. Seats are reclining style but whoever thought of this version should be beaten, most uncomfortable recliners ever made, chair hikes up your butt, lowers back to far and legs dont go all the way up, sat without recliner for 99% of movie. To exit your herded past bathrooms so crowd, then right back into packed food court. First and last time here and live less than 5 min away. Only a few months old First visit and was not impressed for a local business, I seriously doubt it will be here in five years, the access to the entrance not very accommodating Kiosk for Tickets the same and no one around for help.. the place was filthy from the concession stand to the restrooms hallways were unkept.. I will not be recommending this cinema to any of our community, co-workers and friends and probably won't be going there. read more

This theater is awesome! All the seats are heated and recline! There is lots of room in the aisles for people to walk without tripping on you. I also like that you can't really see the people in front of you because the backs are soo high. No one kicking your seat or passing by and bumping into you! And you get to pick your seats which is really convenient so you don't have to get to the movies early. For concessions they have all the regular stuff..popcorn, ice cream, and I think they might have beer too but not 100% sure. Definitely worth a trip to the mall for this seating. read more

What a joke. Hayward now has two Century Theatres. Sounds great huh... until you go to them. Downtown has 6 screens (I think) with no recliners, small screens and rude employees (read my earlier review). So, I was excited to see Hayward was getting a new Century at Southland Mall. Maybe 12-15 screens with full recliners like other Century's in surrounding areas. After all, Union City has 25, Fremont has about 15 and I think San Leandro has 16. Well I went to Southland's theatre tonight. It has a total of 5 screens. Wow! What a landmark! We didn't see an outside entrance so we went inside the mall. We still couldn't find the entrance. As we were getting ready to look outside again I saw a small paper sign saying the entrance is in the food court. WTF! I have to walk half way to Macy's to take the down escalator or elevator down, walk back through the food court to reach all 5 screens. The ticket booth and snack bar are off to the side and the lines are not well defined. After being directed to the correct line for an open snack bar register we got our snacks and headed to the theatre. Make sure you don't turn right or you will end up in the bathrooms. Although I think they are bigger than the theater we were in. Once your in the theatre you can easily find your seat as there are only 6 rows. I think my 75" TV has a bigger screen. The seats are comfy and heated but they only recline about half way because the aisles are too narrow. But it is new and clean. I'll keep driving to Newark or Pacific Commons. Those cities know how to do theatres!! read more

We arrived at our movie and the seating was dirty, however as soon as the Cinemark cleaning crew were advised the immediately apologized for the mess and cleaned up the theater. The best part is the gave everyone a free admission. Great response. read more

Although this theater is really convenient and pretty nice, I HIGHLY recommend no one comes to watch movies. I went to go see Annabelle last night and it was the worst experience ever. Going in, I knew that southland was gonna be filled by annoying little teenagers being disruptive because it's southland. But the amount of disruption was incredible. The ENTIRE movie was disrupted by people talking over the movie/ laughing at the movie. Usually, this is okay in movies Ike comedies. But I'm a horror film, you expect people to be quiet specially in jump scares. I did not enjoy the movie at all due to the disruption of annoying high schoolers. Do NOT come here!!! read more

At high medium low. it's good because a lot of people get cold in the theaters and I went on Tuesday for 6$ movies and watched captain marvel. The dirtiest movie theater I have ever been to. All the trash cans were filled and food scraps everywhere. My seat and other seats were covered with grease. Restrooms were disgusting as well. I heard this theater is brand new. Maybe they didn't hire enough people to clean this place up? read more

Cool theatre. The entrance is kind of weird you have to go into the mall then down escalator to find it. But the lines were almost non existent when we went, the seats are very comfortable with recline and heated feature. Everything was clean in there, popcorn and soda was fresh.
