I have been at this movie theater twice and I'd say I will come back for more. Depending on where you are of course but this place is not that difficult to locate. Huge parking lot, just don't be lazy for a bit of walking if it's a movie night due to the crowd and you're sure to find a spot. For the most part, place is clean and well maintained (entrance) from my observation. Depending if you already have tickets or what not, wait time in lines depends but on general, decent. Food of course is available and I'd say not too bad for the price and huge basket of popcorn for those who like to eat and drink while enjoying the movie. I personally don't hence no need to feel annoyed if you want to see every scene haha! Movie house itself is clean and decent. No nasty odors nor random small trash in sight. Chairs can recline electronically which is pretty cool and relaxing. The chairs are not too cramped so there is enough room for people even if it's a full house. You would really enjoy the movie in that kind of comfort. Sounds are very good. You can definitely hear and feel the action and scenes of what you are watching. There are a couple of restrooms available so you won't have to hold on it for too long if you decided to watch the movie from start to credits. I haven't really purchased the tickets myself on the two instances I have been here (lucky me) but there's always a first time. read more

Cinemark Tinseltown Southside claims "reserved seating" so you don't have to show up early!! In truth, the weak-willed manager wouldn't remove people from our seats, which were paid for in advance. Rather than force those idiots to produce the tickets and prove they double-booked them, he just offered us passes and a refund. This is a family tradition for us, and it's the only time all of our families are here from FL, CO, ID, and TX. Thanks for ruining that for my family, Cinemark. Went to see a movie and every single theatre seat was peeling like and nasty! The whole place must have been on a budget cut from hell because everybody in theatre 5 was sweating and me and my girlfriend along with several others had to leave before the movie ended because we had those nasty crusty ass seats sticking to us from the heat in the place!! This is definitely my go to theater when I am in Jacksonville. The theater is nice and modern, plenty of parking, good popcorn and stadium seats. The only way to make it better is to lower the food and drink prices (as if that would ever happen). read more

I'm feeling generous with stars because when I compare what Tinseltown WAS to what it is NOW, there is a vast improvement. Gone is the jarring green and purple color scheme that made it look like the lair of The Mask designed by a color blind five year old. Also gone (thankfully) is the smell of rancid butter, stale popcorn and urine. Stadium seating, reclining chairs and a more classic color scheme beckons the movie goer to pull on up and sit a spell. It was so pleasant that I'm thinking of giving up Regency's AMC for Tinseltown. Parking is ample and plenty of restaurants within walking distance to have dinner before or after your movie. In the words of the critics, Siskel & Ebert, "two thumbs way up." read more

This has always been my favorite movie theater in town. It's so much fun. Especially if you can get a film on the XD screen. It's amazing. Since the addition of recliners and assigned seats it's even better. This would be a 5/5 Star review if it weren't for one thing: THE CONCESSION STAND WORKERS!!!!! Oh my ever loving chocolate Christ are they the WORST! W O R S T!! Can they move ANY @&$&$ing slower? Every time!!!! No sense of urgency at ALL. I mean it's the opposite. Ever seen Zootopia? Remember the sloths at the DMV!? That's every concession stand employee at this theater. I got bad news for you kids. This theater is right down the road from me & they have consistently gotten better over the course of a year and half! They upgraded the seating- ya know, all the recliners and the box seating feel- almost like there isn't anyone else except your row. The staff is friendly and efficient even if it's busy. I get the promo bucket and cups to save all year long on concessions. I also signed up for the Movie Club last month- auto pay $8.99 a month and you get one "2d" ticket and the option to buy another ticket for $8.99. The tickets roll over, so you don't have to worry about not using them. AND you get 20% off concessions! So- I bought the 2018 bucket and cups last night and saved on top of the deal. You don't have to download the app either- while it makes it easier- I am not a huge fan of having business apps on my phone. They can look you up by phone number for the club. Purchase your tickets online and the fees are waived with that membership too. I love selecting my seats ahead of time. Cinemark has done a good job staying current, not just with the physical theater, but also their online presence and app. With the movie club I will probably be even more loyal to them! read more

I decided to try this movie theatre because it's closer to my house than AMC (not much closer, maybe a few miles closer) and it seems larger. However, I will stick with my first "love" AMC Regency Movie Theaters. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, my movie began at 7:20pm. I was prepared for a crowd due to the new Black Panthers Movie just coming out, though I came to see Samson. I mistakenly assumed that the movie theater would be prepared as well for the large crowds. I will admit, I arrived at 7:15pm but I knew I had 15 minutes of previews which I didn't care that I missed. I assessed the concession stand lines and came to the conclusion that the lines were not that long. Plenty of cashiers working, this should go pretty quickly. Not so! So I realized one of the main differences between here and AMC is that we get our own drinks at AMC not here. And the cashier/attendant had to walk forever to get my popcorn from the machine. It was just SLOW! At AMC, they have a special line for AMC Rewards members and if they had one here I couldn't tell because it was not clearly signed. The only good thing is the fact I am able to purchase my ticket and select my seat from home. However, AMC has the same thing. I finally get to my seat 30 minutes later, the theatre was not crowded and I was in Row C. I could not enjoy the movie because some people or person was throwing things to the front. It sounded like coins and I wasn't sure what was going on. The first time I figured it was a fluke. Second time, I'm getting upset. Some people walked out and I saw what appeared to be the manager come in to scan the upper area then walk out. If indeed it happened one more time (three strikes ur out rule) I was walking out as well and getting my money back. I think I still may write an email to the movie theater. Ridiculous! read more

Went to go see "Breaking in" with my date. Movie theater was clean, comfy seats and good service. No complaints. We enjoyed the movie and it wasn't packed. They have assign seating and seats the recline all the way back. So you can lay all the way down and watch the movie. read more

This is a great movie theatre. The chairs are phenomenal!!! You can recline and put your feet up and they are oh so comfy! You also have a lot of room and you don't feel shoulder to shoulder to other movie goers. I don't have much to say regarding prices- it isn't better or worse than other theatres- just what you would expect. The reason for the loss of 1 star is because of the wait time for concessions. You have to get there 20 min early minimum to get your concessions and make your movie on time! It has been like this more than once for us. I already gave up seeing movies in theaters, but when I experienced RealD 3D XD during Batman v. Superman, I'm convinced on watching movies in the theaters again. I usually save that experience on big movies like BvS and Civil War, otherwise, I take advantage of $5 Tuesdays. Concession prices are high as expected, to offset the cost, sign up for their emailer and Cinemark app Cinemode for coupons. Seats is fairly spacious and the screens are amazing. XD is where it's at. Location is always clean and parking lot is well lit. They often have foreign films. I've seen Filipino films here. It makes me feel like I'm home from time to time ------------------------ New recliners! It doesn't go back as far as AMC does so it's kinda half and half and it kinda hurts my back. Don't know what's up with that. Screens are the best in town compared to AMC and Regal. Cinemark Connections needs an overhaul. AMC and Regal's membership rewards are far better than Cinnemark. This is the only reason I prefer to go to those theaters instead of this place. We had an awful experience at Cinemark Tinseltown tonight. We went to the 4:55 PM showing of "Spider-Man no way home" in theater 13. When we got there, the theater felt warm. My husband called and spoke with a manager and he was told that they were going to adjust the A/C. Halfway through the movie, my husband was wiping the sweat off his head & neck. I was so uncomfortable that I had to get up and out to get some air. This was very disappointing and it made enjoying the movie impossible. read more

Theater is clean. We went to the reserved seating to watch a movie. The lounge chairs are comfy but have a squeaky sound when you move them to recline. Also, if someone is in the row ahead and does not recline their head is slightly in the view of the movie. Overall, I like the reserve seating. read more

Tinseltown is my go-to theater in town. They always have a huge selection of movies playing and always have the new releases. I usually try to buy my tickets through Fandango because the lines can get pretty long, but the times I have stood in line for tickets, the staff got everyone through pretty quickly. The theater itself is huge, they have a cafe when you walk in to your left with a huge lobby with a snack counter and tons of theaters. It's always clean, which is nice because no one wants to step on stale popcorn and sticky spilled soft drinks. The seats are very comfy and they are arranged in a way where everyone has a great view of the screen. One thing I would suggest is enacting some type of curfew on the weekends. After a certain time, minors under the age of 18, should have to be with an adult to get in. Last night, it was very chaotic with kids running around everywhere unsupervised and interrupting the movie. The AMC in Orange Park does a curfew just like that, but they are attached to a mall so it could be a mall curfew. I don't know if that's something Tinseltown could legally enact or not. Other than all the loud kids, I had a great experience. But if you don't want to deal with that I suggest going on a weeknight. read more

I've been to this theater a few times, although its no longer the closet theater to me but my husband and I was in the area. We went about 3ish so there was no crowds. We didn't make any additional purchases because we had dinner plans for afterwards. The chair were a bit uncomfortable once you sit in theater chairs that actually recline. Also the bathrooms were nasty. I stood in line for a while but each bathroom I entered was just to nasty to use. I ended up leaving the bathroom and having to wait to go. read more

It's not my favorite movie theater but it's close by. The only time I really come here is for movie screenings during the week. For those you have to get there early, like 2 hours before if the movie is very popular. Tuesdays seem to be very popular and probably because the movies are $5. The theatre was a little bit warm for me and it wasn't even cool outside. The seats are ok but I feel like they could be a little bit wider to allow for those people who wanna use both arm rests. The best theater in town with a nice XD screen although I usually go with the regular showings to avoid the crowd. My husband and I go at least 2-4 times a months and the membership is a good deal for pre-purchasing and coupons. Normally I've really liked the Tinseltown theatre as they always run great specials and fun events throughout the year, but just wanted to give a heads up to other movie goers about my experience last night. Tinseltown has gotten on the recliner train and switched out their traditional seats for smaller crowd sizes and reservable spots online. I thought it was weird that this wasn't advertised well, because our party of five had no clue and when we got to the theatre could not all sit together at a movie that had already been out over two weeks. I was running late so my ticket, the odd one out, was placed at will call. And I guess the system doesn't exactly have all the kinks worked out because I was given the wrong ticket and then someone was convinced their husband has purchased that ticket when I went in to the theater (turns out they give him the wrong ticket too), but the run that my friends had actually bought the ticket for was completely full. After much hair pulling and several managers coming in and out of the theatre, I finally got out in the one free spot, a second row handicapped seat, with a guest pass for next time. The pass was nice, but of course I was craning my neck and several rows from my company at this point, and nervous that I was still in somebody else's seat the whole time. TL;DR: Tinseltown hasn't worked out the kinks for their new reservation system and it sucks. read more

Most movie places are simply not that nice. Tinseltown, near Southside and JTB, is the nicest in town. It's clean, has recliners for each individual seat, you can choose reserved seating in advance which is also nice. Popcorn and drinks cost a lot, but that is standard at movies everywhere. This is the only place we go to see movies in northeast Florida (the imax At world golf village is also really cool but a much more limited selection). read more

Tinseltown is my theater of choice in Jax. It's something of a landmark around Jacksonville. "Tinseltown" is used to describe everything around the theater. It seems really close to Town Center to me, but locals draw a line between Tinseltown/Town Center the same way that they do with 9A/295. I.e. Co-worker "Have you checked out the happy hour at Mellow?" Me "The one at the beach or the one over by Town Center?" Coworker "There's no Mellow at Town Center, it's over at Tinseltown you nitwit" From the outside they look the same. Anyhow, Tinseltown is a theater conveniently located in the Tinseltown neighborhood of Southside (thus named for the Tinseltown theater.) The screens and sound are some of the best you will find in Jax. It's not as charming as the little art house theaters, but the quality is much better. They have more screens than anywhere in the immediate proximity, which means they have more showtimes for first run movies and a better chance of catching a screening of a smaller release movie. They also show old movies from time to time. read more

I've never had a bad experience here. What do you rate a theatre on? Here are my thoughts on criteria: 1. Seating - Spacious and slightly reclining, plenty of leg room and they are not fabric so I assume can be wiped down and have less "god only knows what" stuck to them. 2. Box Office- Plenty of ticket windows, the line is never too long. 3. Parking -Large parking lot, never an issue. 4. IMAX/XD/3D- They always have a good selection of IMAX/XD/3D movie times, the experience is awesome but even if you opt for a standard movie choice the audio video quality is excellent. 5. Coupons! - I get weekly coupons for free popcorn and drinks, there is always something and they take the discount just from seeing it on your phone, no need to print! That saves a bundle at the movies and deserves 5 starts on it's own! read more

Went and saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and I will start off by saying I have never seen the first one. So, like anyone going to see a part 2 without seeing part 1, I watched a "Guardians of the Galaxy in 5 minutes" video and it was pretty darn helpful. It was also Tuesday, which means $5 movies!!! Can I get an "Oh yeah!!!" Pretty amazing, I know. This broke college student also thought it was pretty amazing. We did not get food since we ate before, but what I can tell you is that 1. The bathrooms were clean, and 2. The theatre was clean. The employees are all very nice, and there was no wait to get tickets which was very surprising. This theatre will always be my "Go-To" when I feel like seeing a movie on a Tuesday! read more

This is my theatre of choice in Jax. It's always clean, rarely is there an issue with the sound, the bathrooms are clean, the food is good... I try to go at least once a week- and joined cinemark rewards so I get coupons for free snacks and drinks weekly. The staff members are always nice. I love love love it. Just wish they gave points for seeing movies offering additional discounts. Seeing at least a movie a week, it would benefit me and my family greatly. (Especially my 18 year old who saw a movie at 2pm today, a movie at 8pm tonight and is going back at midnight to see a midnight release tonight) I recommend it highly. Tinseltown is conveniently located in the heart of southside near many restaurants and shopping. The parking lot is more than accommodating for the weekend and the giant neon lights are a nice touch. The theater is usually clean from what I can see in the pitch blackness of watching a movie and the food is usually not too good, but edible enough to get you through a movie. Prices are, of course, through the roof, but that is expected at any other theater in town. Tinseltown has an eatery area with more food options and is surprisingly cheaper than a bag of popcorn on some items. I would say that Tinseltown is a decent theater with most of the amenities that you could ask for. Nothing special, but it's a nice place to hang out and catch a movie. I've been to Tinseltown a lot, and I just went to see "Invictus" with Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. Here are some things I like about the Tinseltown Movie Theater: Parking: There is plenty of parking available. Here's a tip: Park on the side nearest Seven Bridges. It's easiest for getting in and out. Seating: The theaters seats are pretty comfortable, as far as theater seats go. After about thirty minutes my butt goes numb anyway. Movies: Tinseltown seems to always carry the major movies and some of the more independent films. Other theaters (Regal on Beach) doesn't always carry every movie even though they have enough theaters. Whatever I want is usually at Tinseltown. Snacks: The best thing about Tinseltown is the new coffee bar!!! It's nice to have a hot alternative to the traditional soda and popcorn. It didn't seem AS overpriced as the snack counter. All in all, Tinseltown is a clean and pleasant place to watch a movie. The coffee option gives it the extra star. read more

How can I can this my favorite theater in Jacksonville if I haven't reviewed it yet? My mind is boggled as well as yours! If I get to pick a place to see a movie, I'm going to choose Tinseltown. I don't mind Regal and I love the San Marco, but Tinseltown hits the mark every time. PLENTY of parking out front (they definitely planned well with that one). Multiple box offices to get your tickets (not always open depending on the day) and even electronic kiosks inside for self service (always my choice). Large lobby area to accommodate the concession stand area. I don't always buy snacks but when I do, it's got to be Reese's Pieces. And they always have them. It's rare, but I have even seen them open up the side stands that are tucked away in the corner from time to time. The snack bar out front makes some delicious golden crispy french fries. Definitely a nice alternative from your standard popcorn. The theaters are always clean and plenty of seating in the bigger ones. I don't usually go to opening weekends (not a huge fan of crazy crowds) so I never struggle to find a seat where I want. The special events are the kicker for me. For the Oscars lover, they had a weekend where they showed all 10 nominated films over two days (and I think you got a deal on the ticket price if you bought into the full day). I didn't attend last year, but I plan to this year so I really hope they do it again. read more

This my movie theater for movies that aren't at Sun Ray Cinema and San Marco Theater. The location is great, has lots of great restaurants in the area. As it turns out, they offer $5 all day on Tuesday! I went to see La La Land yesterday and saw very long lines that you would normally see on the weekends. It's a great theater, that features blockbusters, indie films, limited release films, animated movies and everything in between. There's plenty of parking, I've never had an issue finding a spot. This is my theater of choice in Jacksonville. Growing up going to the movies all over the country with my family has made me quite discerning when it comes to what I look for in a movie theater and this place is the closest I've found to the top places in Los Angeles (my hometown.) First, let me say that the AMC over in Orange Park is quite good, but since it's in OP (I really avoid that place like the plague) and the parking situation can be a nightmare I haven't been in a couple of years. The thing that sets this place apart from others is that they consistently keep the place clean and the theaters aren't every left dirty after a showing. I worked in a theater in my teens and I've seen some awful stuff from filthy theaters to awful prints out of focus or terrible sound mixes. This place simply doesn't have those issues. For the negatives: the biggest problem is the concession stand, it's just straight-up highway robbery. The great part is that I've brought in food and they've never hassled me for it. Be respectful, and clean up after yourself and they won't hassle you. Oh, and on a personal note: keep your kids quiet and stay off your darned phones. read more

Watched two movies this weekend at Tinseltown and decided, what the heck I need to write a review on Tinseltown. It's one of the nicer theaters I've ever been to. The theater is a nice size one, like 20 theaters or something. It's very clean, and the stadium seats are very nice and comfortable. We usually go on first showing on the weekend if we can to take advantage of the discounted pricing. Plus, putting your phone on Cinemode to get coupons for the hyped (but tasty) popcorn and drinks price definitely helps. read more
