I have been coming to Tinseltown ever since it opened a LONG time ago! It has always been a very nice theatre and I was recently pleasantly surprised by the fact that they have replaced and updated some of their seating. This is a larger theatre, which is quite popular, so it is important to arrive early to beat the crowds. This movie theatre is always very comfortable and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I have seen many many movies here and I love this location because I can literally ride my bike to it if I want to, it's that close. I normally don't get snacks when I go to the movies, but I occasionally will get a slushy. I haven't had one in awhile, but it's always very good and the service at the counter is, again, friendly and helpful. read more

Great place in a great location. I am critical about watching movies. Sound, screen, location and even the patrons have to be perfect for me and my family to enjoy a movie and this place meets all those requirements. I recently move further away to the west side and I still go here. read more

Nice clean place to watch a movie. The same kind of movie food as most places.

Just your normal theater. It ls clean and the people are friendly. If you go before 5 it's pretty cheap to see a movie.

A theater that partially reminds me of Disney. Bright neon lights surrounding the building, expensive tickets, arcade and over priced snacks. So far it sounds like I hate this place, but fortunately I do not! I'm considering opening my own theater though, because the prices are breaking the bank. I never stand in line out front to buy tickets, I go inside and go to the machine, it's just easier and not everyone knows they can actually go to them.. But you can! Then hand them off to the ticket man and proceed to gaze at the two snack areas they offer. One is a cafe and the other is the actual theater food and drinks. Be prepared to spend more than you would at a restaurant! It's 5 bucks for a bottle of water and if you get a meal, AT LEAST 15-20.00 per person. Starbucks coffee is offered over at the cafe, the cashier was not in a friendly mood last night, but it didn't put me in a bad spirit. Finally juggling every bit of my order I went and found my seat in the theater. The seats at Tinseltown are the creme de la creme of movie theater seats in Jacksonville. They are almost like a leather couch, except not really at the same time. It helps to have comfy seats for a two hour movie. This staff does a great job of keeping the theater clean, and providing good service, aside from the non smiling barista in the cafe! ****The theater loses a star for how over priced it is. They are making a killing on every person that walks through the doors! Obviously it hasn't stopped business, but its really not necessary to charge 5.00 for water and 9.50 for nachos and a medium drink. If you're going to charge 9.50 at least make them fresh!!!! Not the prepackaged lunchable meals. PS: Get there somewhat early, as this theater does sell out pretty fast for popular movies! read more

I would give this no star but that was not an option. This theater does not recognize military members even on Memorial Day. Have I known this I would have left. This is a disgrace considering this is a military town. I am now boycotting this theater and I hope you find this helpful. read more

I go here all the time for movies, I went to see the movie Noah this past weekend and as always the experience was great. My only complaint is getting beverage and food for movie is usually slow. read more

Really great place to go and see a movie, No one comes in and shines a light in your face like I've had done at another theater in this great town.. They are quiet easy to get along with we had a party of 7 with everyone showing up at different times and had no problems getting everyone in. LOVE this movie theater. My wife and I drive up from Daytona Beach when we really want a viewing treat - we watch the XD in the stadium arrangement. The screen is much larger and the sound system blows you away like you were inside the movie experience. The seats in the XD theaters are super comfortable as well. This movie theater offers an enjoyable viewing experience for their patrons. I love the seating system they have in place, where one reserves the seats they want at the time of ticket purchase. Tickets come with reserved seats, and when purchased online (there's a fee for purchasing tickets online) or ahead at the ticket booth, one doesn't need to stress about getting there early enough to catch good seats. You have your seats reserved and that's that. No bs. To further enhance viewers' movie experience, all seats have been replaced with comfy loungers that recline according to your comfort level at the touch of a button. For movie viewing, they have Real D 3D, XD 3D, XD, D-Box, D-Box 3D, D-Box XD 3 D, and regular. My very favorite thing is their $4.99 Tuesdays. Every showtime of any movie is $4.99 for a regular ticket on Tuesday, and about half off for 3D, XD, D-Box. Staff is always nice too. Keep up the good work, Tinseltown. read more

Went to see the new Ninjago movie yesterday (theater 11) and walked out with multiple bug bites. Will be contacting the theater today. Not sure what kind of bug bites are these, hopefully not bedbug bites. My son had a severe allergic reaction. read more

This is the best movie theater in town. It's in an accessible area with tons of restaurant choices around it. We always buy our tickets online. There is a convenience fee in doing so, but gives you the option to reserve your seats as you purchase your tickets. You can also get the tickets through your phone and skip the line outside and go directly to the ticket taker inside. The concession stand is as any movie theater. So, nothing special there. The seats are pretty comfortable and reclines back on its own. I do like that you can lift the hand rest, but since it doesn't pull back as much as the seat recline, you're still separated if you came with a partner you wanted to snuggle against. Also, since the seats recline, and if you like to slouching in your seat, and have a tall person in front of you, you do get he head shadow. Overall still the best in town that I know of, but not a perfect movie experience. read more

The first time I came here I saw carpets without popcorn on them no crying children but recliners that bend back with feet rest so I could enjoy my movie more comfortably. All in all this experience was very pleasant but now I wish I live more close to it. read more

Usually a good place but not when you pay money to sit in a theater with no a/c for 2+ hours with seats at nearly full capacity. Might as well had been in a sauna with how soaked in sweat my clothes were. Had to head home to shower and change just for going to the movies. Worst experience ever. Thanks cinemark.. read more

I am not much of a movie person to say I don't like going to the movies but every once in a while I will. I like this place a use there are several good choices very very one by so it makes it an ideal place for a date nite. Dinner and a movie can be pulled off easily with out having to drive around all night. Last night decided to do a movie night and after grading some dinner decided to hit up a movie. You have 2 choices of movies normal and if they offer XD. The XD experience means extreme digital and for 2 dollars more u get ear piercing sound and comfy chairs that rock back. The sound was awesome and being a saw an action movie was cool. The chairs that rocked back I didn't care for as I sit in the back and didn't need the recline and it's not like u can not have them recline. Other then that seemed like a typical movie theatre. There ticket Windows are outside which would suck if it's raining and u wouldn't know they have the self serve kiosk unless u actually go inside and they only have 2. So people like me who like those fast convenient it makes it harder cause u have only 2 to use were other theatres I have been 2 have 5 if not more. Next time I would probably of do the XD and save my money to help pay for the overpriced popcorn.. read more

I've been to this particular cinema many many times and I always have a wonderful movie experience. I have to give this place four stars because I can't find too much to complain about. Usually the biggest criticism of a movie theatre is the price of admission. And as I look at the prices on the boards, I notice they are kinda steep, but I'm fortunate enough to have never paid the actual price. Whenever I go to this theatre, I enjoy the student discount. If you're a FSCJ, UNF, JU or EWC student, I'd recommend showing the usher your student ID so your price of admission will drop dramatically. Inside the actual lobby, there's a small corner for heartier meals and Starbucks-brand drinks, if that's your fortay But if not, this place also has your standard concession stand. And the concession stand is where I have to knock this place. $5 for a angus beef hot dog? That's a lot. And to add to that, most of the time, they don't even have the angus beef hot dog available. Once you get into the theatre, the audio is amazing and the screen is crystal clear. Overall, aside from the steep pricing, this is a great movie theatre. read more

Always loved going to Tinseltown back when I live in Jacksonville. I use to work at AMC and that was horrible. AMC is a good place to go get stabbed or shot lol horrible crowd. Tinseltown is in the middle of an area where there are many restaurants to choose from, many awesome restaurants. They also have a starbucks around the area for anyone looking to gets some coffee. Tinseltown is also a theater where I feel safe, the theaters are mostly quite, and there is never a hangout hanging outside or any problems. Tinseltown is right next to an expensive neighborhood with expensive houses, so the security there is pretty good, as many of the homeowners do not want the same hangout that goes on in other theaters. Another plus is being able to lift up the arm rest and get closer to the one you love :). read more
