Last weekend, we took our toddler to his first movie! I haven't been to this theater for YEARS but the special release was limited to a few theater initially. There is plenty of parking in the shared shopping center. Walking in, the lobby was much smaller than what we're used to but it still had the standard concession stand needs. My husband got our tickets out for them to scan and we got to our movie. The chair was nice and big and they reclined! The screen and sound were clear so we didn't have any issues.

I enjoyed coming to this theater for the first time on a mid-week afternoon. Cinemark Mesa 16 is located near my home at Mesa Riverview. It is sort of hidden toward the back of the shopping center near Bass Pro Shop. The theater is smaller than most, but it is nice and clean. The rows are very spacious with relaxing lounge seats. Every Tuesday at Cinemark is Discount Tuesday where they offer cheaper prices. Matinee movies are also discounted. I ordered my tickets online ahead of time to save myself from waiting in line. Cinemark Mesa 16 plays all the new movies plus some old favorites. I didn't order any food or snacks this time. I did notice on their menu that if you order an extra large popcorn, you can get a refill on the same day.

Ample movie options, classic widespread design and a few tables for lounging to the right when you first walk in which would make it easy to make some friends while waiting for your movie. Games and food options for plenty, definitely a great stop for a midday movie. Felt like a more casual vibe.

Trap.....M. Night Shyamalan, don't let us down...

Had a movie night and we went to see the new M. Night Shyamalan movie, Trap. I'll hold back my thoughts on it....all I'll say is this: Deadpool is soooo great!!! I've been to this Cinemark plenty of times, but this is the first time I've selected a seat on the top row (all other seats were taken). So you are aware, if you recline back (which that's their purpose...recline) there's a half-wall right in front of you and limits the view of the screen. It was so disappointing. Outside of that, the AC was blowing, the customer service was on par, and the snacks were flowin'! The only thing that saved the night was the company I was with...we had a great time laughing at it all! On a scale of 1-10, I'll pick a different row to sit in next time :)

Love that you can be apart of their movie club! Wish they had more choices in Az other than this location. Parking is easy, they even have EV stations to charge. I only saw 2. As you walk up there is a window to pick your movie and seats. I usually do it on the Cinemark app. Which is quick and easy. They have a great snack stand and options to choose from. The pizza is usually a hit! As my guest and I walked down the hall to check in, we were greeted by Fernando! Our theater was on the right all the way down. Once we got to our seats we reclined back and enjoyed our movie! There is a movie tray that can hold your snacks and drink. The restroom was clean and easy to find! Wish they had more movie selections playing cause I would be here every weekend. Amenities in the theater are Cinemark XD, Luxury Loungers, mobile ordering, delicious food & beverage options, including dine-in restaurants and seat-side service in select locations. Perks: Movie Club memberships are also available for a low monthly fee. Members enjoy a monthly ticket credit, 20% snack discount and other exclusive benefits. Movie Club Platinum, an earned tier of the program, bigger benefits, like a 25% discount on concessions.

This is my favorite theatre to go to because it is not as massive as the other chains. Less people less lines comfortable seating with plenty of leg room and reclining chairs. some theatres have little tables built in to the seats arm rests and other do not. The concession stand serves both alcoholic beverages and your regular nonalcoholic. I definitely recommend joining their movie club if you go to the movies even 1 x a month because for your monthly fee you get 1 ticket, 20% off on concessions, extra tickets at discounted rates, no service fees when booking online and you earn extra points too. I love the fact that you can rent the theatres out for family functions and Birthdays, we did this 1 time and everyone loved it! The theatre is older it has a cozy been here feeling vs. a modern fresh look and I do prefer this. Bathrooms are always clean and staff is always available to help.

What a nice, clean and well maintained theatre. We spent the day in Phoenix recently for some doctors appointments and was able to get away to watch a movie at this Cinemark location. This theatre was tucked away in a shopping center and we felt like the only people there. The smells of the freshly popped popcorn were good. Using the Cinemark APP to purchase our tickets was a breeze. That was our first time coming here and well be back in the future.

I just moved from Tucson where they have primarily Cinemark theaters in town. I'd bought the year long membership with one free movie a month and when I found out I would be living back in Phoenix again, I was so bummed that I'd be missing out on the money I'd spent but luckily we have one Cinemark here in Phoenix and it's only about 10 minutes from my apartment! Of all the Cinemarks I went to in Tucson, this one is honestly the best. I love that it still has the standard old school movie theater concession lines. I hate that school cafeteria vibe at the other locations. The large framed images of old movies and movie stars is so cool and cozy. The entrances in to every theater was so cool too. I never would've expected to see something this classic in Mesa. This might be my go-to movie spot from now on.

It's really fun to go out to Mesa on Saturday morning and see an opera from New York City. That's what happens at this theatre on some Saturdays. It's live from New York City, digitally piped in and it's so interesting. We saw Romeo and Juliet and it was great. We could see the audience, the backstage preparations, interviews with the performers, etc. It's not very crowded, either. I highly recommend this experience and I plan to go back in May for Madame Butterfly.

I love that this movie theater has reclining chairs. And I'm pretty sure they have a bar? I feel like there's always a lot of available space, probably based of its location. It's right next to a lot of cool places for a date. And it's esthetically pleasing outside and around the area. This is one of my favorite theaters to go to

What happened to this theater? This is sad and disgusting. Either fix it or close the theater down.
    DeAnna Y.

It wasn't that long ago that this theater put in new seats and this is what they look like now?? If they can't afford to fix the seats, then they just need to do the community a favor and close the doors. This is unacceptable.

The light in the office room was on the whole time distracting me and my row from the movie

I know we stood in line for at least 20 minutes behind ONE person who seemed to be complaining about everything. Once she was finally done, the guy who was standing to her left moves right in front of us and has an issue with his order (or whatevaaa)!! He eats up another 5 to 7 minutes before we FINALLY get to place our order. I had tried to move to another line as the cashier didn't have anyone in front of him although he had just helped a couple. I asked if he was taking orders and he said no, that his system went down. Ummm, okayyyy. So my friend was still standing in the original line where the guy cut in front of us and we finally got to order. The Chicken Tenders took up another 7 to 10 minutes before we finally got them. The lines started piling up behind us. We saw at least 2 managers but none of them seemed to be managing. I would think on weekends of all times, you'd have most of the registers open, but they only had about 3 or 4 up and running. Needless to say, by the time we got to our seats, we had missed the beginning of the movie. SMDH! It's really annoying that we paid for something and partly got ripped off (idk how much of the beginning we missed). And yes, I do know you can order food ahead of time online, but we tend to be indecisive sometimes so that's why we ordered when we arrived. Minus 2 stars for the crap service at the concession stand. No apology from the guy who took our order, either. 3 stars for the reclining seats in great condition, theater seemed to be kept up pretty well, and the food was hot and fresh. I guess if we come back, we are coming at least an hour before show time, and HOPE that we'll have a better experience.

I did grab a glass of wine at the bar, and the pricing caught me off guard--$20 for a 5 oz pour of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Since a full bottle was $50, a friend and I split one for $25 each, which was definitely the better deal. Still, $20 for a small pour is more than what a full bottle costs at the grocery store. This use to be one of my favorite theaters because of the service and value. But now, the value is gone and the service is REALLY gone. They have no one working here except for a couple of guys handing you your cups and popcorn. There is almost zero human interaction and to be completely honest, it sucks. Then when you get into the theater they are scrolling commercial after commercial, which is fine, because I'm early and it's not even time for the movie to start. But then the previews start and they have a couple, THEN A COMMERCIAL, then they have a few, THEN A COMMERCIAL, and so on. Again, it would be fine except they advertise the movie to start at 8:00 but it doesn't ACTUALLY start until about 8:30 and that might not be something you plan for? Anyway, the seating is ok. Like they are individual but every two has a movable divider in case you're there with a date and want to sit close. They are comfortable enough I guess but they did seem a little worn. Now for the pricing, the ticket prices are out of control here which is probably why there's so few people in the seats (I would say 10% full) and the concessions? C'mon now, this is probably why they can afford to have mostly empty theaters, because the profit margin on these things HAS to be about 1000% and that's not even an exaggeration. $10 for a medium popcorn for example is just stupid. Anyway, at least I enjoyed the movie because WOW, had that been bad, I would feel like I just threw $65 in the trash after buying two tickets, two medium drinks, and one medium popcorn. They aren't MUCH better but I think I'll stick to Harkins since they originally are a local company, have better prices, and still DO have some human interaction.

Both times we were there it was the same person. He was very knowledgeable of the theater and its offerings. I will say he isn't super friendly. Not unfriendly. Just not super friendly as you would expect of a person in the service industry. He works from behind the ticket counter that doubles as bar. They offer mostly beers on tap like you find in a lot of those tap rooms around the valley. They have some other bottled or canned drinks but nothing mixed. The selection of beers is grand for a theater so that is definitely fun. Especially tasting around the menu. The theaters aren't huge and offer spacious recliners with a table between every two seats. Super comfy and the table is definitely convenient. The best part about this place is how surprisingly good the food is. Last night we ordered the wings with loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, and the bottomless bowl of popcorn. The food is not what I would call restaurant quality, but compared to theater food anywhere else, I would take this 100% of the time. It's actually quite excellent. This franchise replaced the Alamo Drafthouse and patron etiquette has been subpar ever since. Alamo had a very easy and firm system that ensured patrons were getting the value of their ticket. Each trip to a dine in theatre is around $50 for me and my friends each. I expect to not have my movie interrupted by shitty guests who cannot follow theatre etiquette at all. I just saw The Backrooms with a friend and had a woman next to us who kept giving commentary after everything that happened in the movie. Then at one point turned on her phone flashlight at full brightness to seemingly look for something but kept it on for nearly 3 full minutes and kept shining directly in our faces. Turned toward her to gesture that it was disruptive and she just stared at us. I went mid movie to the front desk yo file a complaint about it and they said because their menu is a QR code on the table top that they can't do anything about the excessive flashlight use. And that for the talking they would let a manager know. Then offered us to move seats mid movie. What a horrible response to a situation where they should've had an employee ask her to stop talking or be ejected from the theatre. Alamo had the perfect system, physical menus and paper cards for ordering food. A very clear and strict PSA before the feature explaining the expectations and etiquette rules and a discrete and non-disruptive system for complaining about noisy patrons on the paper cards. This is why people do not go to the theaters anymore. I would've enjoyed the movie more if I didn't have some inconsiderate fuck in my ear the whole time during a very quiet and atmospheric horror movie, breaking the immersion. I love going to the movies and for midnight showings or re-releases of cult classics, I absolute let expect and welcome some chatter and disruptive reactions. But this is not the first time this has happened at this theatre and I frankly would've been better off streaming this movie at home if I wanted to enjoy it. Please for the love of god, do better so that you can continue to make movie theaters an enjoyable destination for patrons.
