I would to start by saying that I love, love, love this theater. Small, quaint, nostalgic... I don't have enough words in my repertoire to describe the number of ways/reasons that I like this place. My wife and I have been here twice. Once to watch Evil Dead Rise (I love horror) and just last night to watch Master of the Universe (a blast from the past). Upon entry you are greeted a sole bartender/ticketer/cashier. Both times we were there it was the same person. He was very knowledgeable of the theater and its offerings. I will say he isn't super friendly. Not unfriendly. Just not super friendly as you would expect of a person in the service industry. He works from behind the ticket counter that doubles as bar. They offer mostly beers on tap like you find in a lot of those tap rooms around the valley. They have some other bottled or canned drinks but nothing mixed. The selection of beers is grand for a theater so that is definitely fun. Especially tasting around the menu. The theaters aren't huge and offer spacious recliners with a table between every two seats. Super comfy and the table is definitely convenient. The best part about this place is how surprisingly good the food is. Last night we ordered the wings with loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, and the bottomless bowl of popcorn. The food is not what I would call restaurant quality, but compared to theater food anywhere else, I would take this 100% of the time. It's actually quite excellent. Since Covid I have fully avoided theaters, because I prefer just watching at home where I know the food will be better. This theater has reignited my passion for going to the theaters. Also, the pricing is extremely reasonable. I suggestion passing on the big brand theaters with there super expensive frozen food options and over sized, over pact theaters. I went to a movie here once, and I won't be coming back. The prices are already hard to justify, but the service made the experience even worse. The staff seemed disorganized, rude, and the overall time management was terrible. We waited an incredibly long time just to get our popcorn, while people who were seated after us had already been served their full meals. I had plans to see a movie this evening with my son and daughter-in-law at the Majestic in Gilbert. When I got to the theater they had me redeem my free popcorn and gave me a voucher. However, I could not use it because someone was in our seats. The theater had changed the location and gave our seats to some other people. They would not move, we purchased our tickets earlier in the week and they had paper tickets. The theater staff was not helpful at all, we ended up leaving. The movie was about to start and they could only offer handicapped row. The movie was app 4 hrs / it was The Lord of the Rings. It's one of my favorite date night spots and recommend it to a ton of friends and coworkers. The food here is restaurant quality food (I recommend the cauliflower nuggets). The servers are always attentive to guests and welcoming. The ambience is a classic vibe with the old movie posters all over. Ever since I discovered this theater its been my go-to to spot. Sad to write this but I feel the need to. We have been going to this theater since they opened. The last few times we've gone the food seemed off. Well last night I was able to definitely confirm it. We stared with the popcorn, ordered with butter and a couple of flavorings on the side. While the popcorn was lightly salted it had no butter on it. Not the end of the world but something we truly enjoy when going to the movies. Next, I ordered the fried cauliflower with the sweet Thai chili sauce in the side. I also requested the cauliflower to be well-done. First, I got buffalo sauce instead of the chili sauce. Next, the cauliflower was well done except the inside was all raw batter except for one piece that had actual cauliflower in it. I was thoroughly disgusted because I broke each one open and tasted it hoping to find more but I never did. I don't know how any place can serve that and be okay with it. Lastly, I substituted (which is an option on the menu) the fries for sweet potato waffle fries and those were not cooked on the inside. Our bill was just over a hundred dollars for food to go into the trash. We will visit the AMC that is closer to home going forward. Maybe we will try majestic in the future but not anytime soon. So, they have a new system where you get to turn ON your phone and annoy your fellow seatmates to check out the menu. It is by far the most asinine idea for a movie theater. Not only do you get to distract yourself from the movie and miss key parts while scrolling through the menu, but now you have a legitimate excuse to be on your phone during the movie! Annoy your fellow movie goers while you check email, text, or scan the web. No one will ever know! You are allowed to be on your phone! You can't make this up!! And to be sure, YOU are the one taking your own order, yet a fee is added and a tip expected. Were the utensils forgotten with your meal? No condiments with your burger? Order not correct? You have to dig out your phone once more to request assistance, that doesn't arrive. Bring back the white slips!! The continuous bright distractions emanating from your neighbors' seats make for an unpleasant experience. To top it off, nobody comes by and picks up your piled dirty dishes. They've scrapped physical menus entirely and pushed everything through an online ordering app. Sounds modern, right? In practice, it's a mess. Instead of relaxing, you now have an entire theater full of people glowing in the dark like fireflies, tapping away on their phones mid-movie. Nothing kills immersion faster than a wave of smartphone screens lighting up during a dramatic scene. The process is confusing from the start: One person introduces themselves at the beginning, but if you order, someone else entirely delivers the food. And then--plot twist--there's no one who brings you a check at the end anymore. You're expected to remember you even have an open bill, dig your phone out again, navigate back to the right screen (assuming you didn't close the browser tab hours ago), and tip... someone? Who, exactly? The invisible mystery server who may or may not be the same person who took your order? Your guess is as good as mine. Need a refill? Forget the quick paper-and-pencil slip of the past. Now you get to scroll endlessly through digital menus, hunting for the exact item again. That's if you can even find the menu between all the promotional banners. What makes this all the more absurd is the theater's identity: Majestic is known for showing classic films and leaning into nostalgia--a love letter to the past. Yet somehow, they've leapt headfirst onto the "everything must be an app" bandwagon. I get wanting customer retention, but maybe try something charmingly old-school--like a punch card for regulars--instead of dragging people through this digital quagmire. This whole system is especially brutal for older patrons. We sat next to an older woman trying to place an order, and it turned into a full-on tech support session. Her "host" had to spend nearly ten minutes walking her through the process, which was painful for her and distracting for everyone around her. In short: The new system is clunky, impersonal, and actively disruptive to the theater experience. It turns what should be a relaxing night out into a tech obstacle course. Majestic may think this is the future of dining, but it's hard to enjoy the show when the hardest part is just ordering popcorn. read more

After all of the changes going on at Majestic. I thought it was a good idea to write an update. I loved this place when it was called the Alamo. I loved it since there were strict with their silence rules, no kids after a certain time, and phones was a no no. Ever since they have became Majestic, they are a lot more lenient on the noise control. Kids are allowed late in the evenings now, and what is a trip is: They still tell you to silence your phone or turn them off. However, they want you to use your phones to place orders? So, yes when you're trying to watch the movie, someone near you will have their phone on to place food, or snack orders. The Majestic is not even close of being as good when they were the Alamo, it is a decent place but just not the same. read more

I have been here twice now. Most recently to see Barbie over a month ago during opening weekend. We chose Majestic Gilbert 8 for several reasons. The first is the location. It's convenient for us and the area isn't super busy unlike other movie theatres. Majestic also offers food and drinks as well as table service. The food isn't the best, but it's a lot better than your average chicken nuggets and nachos. Their menu offers apps, sandwiches, pizzas, dessert, beer, wine, and cocktails. They also have vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. The theatre is clean inside and out. Everything looks well kept. The chairs are comfortable and recline. Last, but certainly not least, the service is always great! read more

This location is one of our go-to movie theaters in the area. It is super easy to buy a ticket online and reserve your preferred seats. Arrive at least 15-20 minutes early so that you can peruse the menu and study the extensive beer list. Place your order with one of the many friendly servers and wait for delicious food and drinks to be delivered to your seat. Need something later in the movie? Just write it on one of the provided scraps of paper and place it so that the servers can see it when they peek into the theater. You can also write a quick message if neighbors are loud or text happy. This place has the ability to be 5 stars. Sometimes the food is a miss (I recently ordered an almost $20 burger that came with flippy flappy bacon, so hard to eat in the dark) and several times we have had to wait a long time for a server to check in on our theater (especially if it is a lightly populated showing). read more

We purchased our movie tickets at the front desk but know that you can purchase them ahead of time online. The seats are leather, comfortable and even recline, which is a nice addition to the cinema experience. It happened to be $3 Wednesday and that includes bottomless popcorn, unlimited soda, cheese pizza, and more! Talk about SCORE! We had a server come by and provided us information about the menu and items they serve. The menu is extensive! All of this in a movie theater?? It is really crazy to think that they serve so much variety of food items and alcohol here. We ordered the popcorn, icee, cheese pizza with additional toppings, and beer. Everything tasted good and came out in a timely manner. The server will come back once in a while to ask if you want a refill or any new order. Very attentive and approachable. Honestly, this was such a great movie theater experience. Along with great movies to watch you can also receive a full dining experience! I was completely baffled by everything, and I can't wait to come back here. The tab is much more compared to what you would pay at any other movie theater, but with the daily deals they have it balances out. An affordable date night! We decided to come to the movie for the $5 Tuesdays to see Inside out 2. We arrived about 20 minutes early because we heard service can take a while. When we arrived we were greeted by a very sweet girl and let us know what she thought were the best seats. Then we got to our seats and they have you order from a QR code but ours was not working, so our server put in the initial order then texted us a link. The link once it was working made it super easy to order refills on popcorn and the drinks. The drink refills took about 10-15 minutes which was fine for us! :) we could tell they were working hard. The drinks were supposed to be free refills but our tab kept charging for them. At the end of the movie I had to talk with the manager for 20 minutes because he couldn't figure out how to remove 3 6$ refill charges; at the end he was only able to remove 16$ but I wasn't going to stay longer for a few dollars. We ordered one popcorn $11.50 which was free because we signed up for the rewards program which was super awesome. We also ordered a side of fries $3.50 and some jalapeños for the popcorn! The service was great, the movie seats were super clear and the value was great. The only thing we did not love was the system to pay since there are a lot of flaws when it's charging your card. So be sure to double check your tab. It also requires you to pay before the movie ends or else closes the tab automatically along with the service charge and grat they charge as well. The food is not good. We have come here at least 7 times and the prior owners had better food. Popcorn is beater at AMC/Harkins by far. The nachos... ehh.. the burger is bad! Had a great experience at Majestic! It was my first time going with a friend to see Lilo & Stitch. I absolutely loved the fact that you can walk in to your movie, sit back and relax! The theater was clean and the reclining seats were comfy. Upon sitting, you're able to scan a QR code with your phone to open up your tab. My friend and I split the bowl of popcorn (which is huge with free refills!) and I got the cauliflower bites. I'm a huge Harkin's popcorn fan, but I enjoyed Majestic's popcorn. You can add different flavorings if you choose. We stuck with plain butter. I absolutely loved the cauliflower bites and will return just to eat those again! This is such a convenient spot for a dinner and a movie type date as they serve everything from appetizers to dessert, so it's really a one stop shop. Once ordered on your phone, food and drinks are brought directly to you and you can keep your tab open until closer to the end of the movie if you decide to add any additional items. Popcorn has free refills and I believe their soft drinks do as well. They give you good portion sizes for both food and drink. Matinee movie for two at $60 for popcorn and drinks is a bit excessive and cannot be a long term business plan. Me and my girlfriends decided for a late night movie and came across majestic, which is right by our house. We booked the tickets online, it was super easy. When we arrived, we only had to show our code, and you are directed to the cinema hall. There is dining option, and the food and drinks is also served in the theater. I love the fact that the whole theater is inspired by old Hollywood movies. You can see posters hanging everywhere and it's pretty neat. We got cinema hall number 10 and it's a little smaller with less seating, and no recliners. I was surprised that on the front row was recliner and that wasn't helpful. The service is good and they offered us water. Also kept checking if you needed anything. I would definitely keep this place handy for movie nights. read more

We went yesterday midday to see Deadpool and I was pleased that two tickets came to $10! Then we got into the theater to order lunch and I realized the food, drink and snack price made up for it! I ordered a $16 cheeseburger, $6 iced tea and had fees on top of that... it ended up being a $30 lunch for one person! The flavor of the food was okay but I expected more from a $16 burger. CUSTOMER BEWARE: This business charges an 8% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! prop206 fee. If you unaware what this is, it's their way of compensating for the increase in min wage (which is $1/hr). *Some* businesses charge a 3ish percent fee to cover this. But Majestic has now increased ticket prices, increased food prices, AND charges an extra 8% fee on your food total. Increasing prices and charging a fee is plain price gouging. Now for the disappointing experience: We spent $80 not including the tickets (before tax, fee, and tip, so $105 total) on food for our family of 5 (kids had kid plates and water, adults had appetizer and a soda each, 1 popcorn). The food took 45 mins to come out even though we arrived early to order, my son's teeny tiny pizza came out burnt and inedible, we never got a refill on our "bottomless" drinks, my sons recliner was broken, the seats were dirty, there was a soda spilled on the floor in front of our seats, greasy handprints all over the armrest, and popcorn in the cup holders. It was such an unpleasant experience. It's truly a shame because this place was our favorite back when it was Alamo...but every time we go back it's worse than the time before. Though I asked for help and the individual said she would have my server ring it in, it was never rung in. Nobody knew anything not even who are server was. Took 4 people to tell me that it is just the bottomless popcorn. It shouldn't take that many people to figure out how to order popcorn. It ultimately took about an hour to get popcorn. Even once it was ordered online, it took almost 49 minutes. The folks I encountered were all very nice but seems additional training is needed. We couldn't tell. Our service was great and our food was good. I love the fact that I can order off the menu from my seat and it is delivered to me discreetly during the movie. They have a wide variety of menu items from salads to burgers to chicken wings. They have some unique options on the menu, such as green chili stew and a salted caramel milkshake. The new QR code ordering system is trash. You now have to scan a code to place your order. Not only is it annoying that they are encouraging phone use during the movie, you are charged a service fee for using it!
