One of my preferred cinemas! It's not too far of a drive from Fountain Hills and prices aren't too unreasonable either. Some awesome attributes: -Very large complex which offers a good variety of shows for different folks -Clean and tidy (every time I've visited) - even the restroom which makes me happy and feel safe -Friendly and helpful staff - they seem to enjoy what they do as opposed to being the slouched over guy that's miserable and mumbles instructions to you. -Popcorn. I like theirs because it's not too greasy but a good balance of sodium. Mmmmm -Quality acoustics in each viewing theater -Design of the theater (inclined floor as you walk to the farther from the screen. Honestly, not a bad seat in the house. Well, except for front row. I will never do that again. Ever. -Theater seats themselves?! Large, comfortable but still firm, a handy drink holder, AND reclining seats so that it's practically as low as a damn bed. In fact, I got so comfy when I watched Arrival that I slept through the whole damn picture. Smh Confession: Most recent show I saw was A Dog's Purpose. I tried very hard to avoid crying, but failed miserably. In fact, my makeup was running and I was a mess, so I excused myself 2x to visit the restroom. Fantastic flick, by the way. Cinemark Theater is the best place to snuggle up to your significant other and watch all your favorite movie stars kick butt and take names!! This theater is wonderful, the film prices are incredibly reasonable, they have special discounts on Tuesdays, and their customer service is great! Purchasing tickets is not only inexpensive but it is also convenient. You can purchase tickets online or outside on one of their digital kiosk (you can reserve which seats too, so your whole extended family of 18 can sit next to eachother) The concessions (popcorn candy etc) has a large mark-up, however I wanna see you make better popcorn! Yum! Like I said before, this theater has the best seating. It features side by side leather recliners, which you can also lift up the middle arm rest to cuddle your date. The big screen is fantastic and the surround sound brings the films to life!!! Besides watching films, this theater also features a small arcade that you can goof around in as well as a splash pad out front for those 100+ degree days. read more

I love this theater. No it doesn't have alcohol at the concession stand or anything. But this is a great little theater. It is always clean, and never seems to be crowded. I can always find a parking spot, and there is a little coffee shop you can walk to from it. Best of all, I have never seen screaming kids in this theater. Either the people who come here have the good sense to get babysitters, don't have kids, or they are actually taking their kids to childrens' movies...shocker. Update, on their website they clearly state: Note: No Children Under Age 6 Will Be Admitted To Any R-Rated Feature After 6:00 PM. Smart. I can't make any promises, but try this theater out before all the people who make inappropriate parenting choices find it! read more

Buying tickets online or on the touch screen outside is super easy and kind of fun. The new reclining seats are so comfortable and make the experience more like being at home but with a huge screen and mega surround sound. The only downside is that the theaters now hold less seats to accommodate the larger chairs. That means opening weekend can prove difficult to see say... the new Marvel movie. Otherwise the place is typically not crowded. Just plan ahead if you want to get a group to go to a bigger movie. The bathrooms could use some music or promotional advertisement (I'll take whatever you wanna give me) because they are creepy quiet and perhaps not the cleanest. By perhaps, I mean, definitely not the cleanest and kind of gross that I'm repressing opening half the stall door until I found a passable clean one. However, no wait for popcorn! I go here for the 3-D movies. They are in REAL3D. Better than any other Cinema. I also like going in to see a movie in the evening and coming out to see all these old school cars lined up in the street. I get my movie date and my husband gets his car fix. This place is great for family, singles, and dates. The seats are comfy and large for my big booty and easy to snuggle up to my hubby. This is one of my favorite theaters. It's a little known fact that the first showing of the day for any film is only $5. This keeps my wife and I coming back. One of our favorite things is to see a movie at 9am and hit a great spot for brunch afterwards. And yes, they don't mind when you show up in pajamas with Starbucks. A great time! read more

I just discovered the Cinemark in Mesa yesterday afternoon, when it was the only theater in the area that still had relatively last-minute opening night tickets for The Dark Knight available online. Tickets to the opening night 10:30 pm show still available at 4:30 that afternoon? Yes please! I didn't even know about this place but it's a perfectly fine theater and there's a ton of shopping around and seems cool. The line-management for TDK was a little bit of a clusterf*ck but hey, it's opening night, there are people everywhere, I'm not mad. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

Smaller theater, you pick your seat, nice and roomy recliner's. The unique layout is to where you don't see the folks in front of you and there's a wall behind you, so it seems private. I get inhumanely and unhealthily hysterical if we are not at a movie theater at least 40 minutes before a showing. The only other theaters near me is Tempe Marketplace or I can drive to Chandler Mall; it's the equivalent of asking me whether I'd like to walk on a bed of stones set on fire or on a path filled with metal spikes tipped with poison. After having to sit through the Lego movie listening to 'Everything is Awesome' (Nonstop-crying-baby-with-a-mom-who-is-too-selfish-to-leave-because-she's-too-into-the-movie Remix), I gave up on going to the busy movie theaters and decided to just stick with coming here. Even on opening night/day, I don't think I've ever had to worry about getting a good seat. The other night, I arrived 5 minutes after previews for the new 300 sequel (I almost had a heart attack in the hallway) and still got middle seats just where I like. Their popcorn bucket deal here is worth it if you go to the movies a lot, 3 dollars to refill. It's never really crowded, quiet, and clean. Seats are just like Harkins, comfortable and able to recline back and forth unlike the sadists at AMC. Yes, the theaters are smaller then what we're used to, but with lower prices and no crowds, it doesn't make a difference to me in the end. They also have an old school Spiderman pin ball machine here that I like to spend an ungodly amount of quarters on with the boyfriend. It's a night of simple fun, just the way I like it when the week has been weary and full of dumb drivers on the highway. read more

This has to be the theater with the least friendly staff in America. I arrived for my 9:00am movie at 8:30. They were in the process of setting up and unlocking the doors. Afterwards they just ignored me as I stood waiting at the ticket window. I asked when they opened and they said they were open. I stood there awhile longer and then asked if they were selling tickets. The employee could barely engage with me and I'm not sure she uttered a word during the transaction. Luckily the thick soundproof glass helped to prevent any communication. read more

This place was kind of gross. I stuck to the floor while I was at the counter ordering some food and the carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed since they opened. This theater has only been open for about a year, but it already has a feel to it that it's been there for about 15 years and is in need of a renovation. All was well once we got inside the theater room, but the lobby/hallway was disgusting. I do like their policy of not letting small children into R-rated movies after 6PM. read more

I called ahead of time to make sure I could reserve around 30 seats and they were very accommodating and made putting this event together a breeze! This place was awful!! Trash everywhere!! Seats were sticky!! It was disgusting. I understand being understaffed but this took it to a whole new level! We like the movie, but as far as the theater itself, it was disgusting. When I alerted the 1st manager, he told me to tell someone up front. My daughter and I came here to see the final episode of The Twilight series a few nights ago and I like the theater fine but I was very disappointed in the popcorn which was tremendously over salted and the whatever they call the buttery stuff you put on top of the popcorn was more like a corn oil, it wasn't even buttery flavored. The popcorn I used to get at the Chandler Theater where it was only a dollar to go to the movie and maybe $4.50 for the tub of popcorn with the refill was much better popcorn as is the popcorn and the buttery toppings that's only $4.50 for tub at the Tempe cinema where the movies are only $3, $2 dollars on Tuesdays. They do have some good deals on ticket prices if you go certain days or hours and reasonable senior and student prices, which is helpful. If I have to go to a first run theater, this will be my choice from now on. And it's up in Riverview Shopping Center, which is convenient for shopping and eating out. If they improve their popcorn, I'll up my rating! read more

I've gone to this theater a few times, and never had any bad experiences until yesterday. Went to see Anchorman 2, and upon walking into the theater, there was trash EVERYWHERE. They didn't even bother to try to clean up after the last movie. Not just trash in the cup holders, but on the floor as well. It was disgusting. Never have I seen that at a theater before. I went and saw the last Hobbit movie with my mom. The seats were amazing. Reclining at the touch of a button. We saw the Hobbit in 3D. Very good 3D, and the sound was excellent. They are not a Harkin's but accept Harkins cups and t shirts for the soda and popcorn deals. The only "issue" I had with the seats is like any other recliner the wood that is in the leg part started to hurt my legs. A simple adjustment and they were fine. I am five foot six inches, and the seats were very deep so my feet stuck out while un-reclined . So if you are like me and don't like deep furniture, bring a sweater or something to fold up behind you like a pillow. The aisles are wide enough, that just simply lowering your seats makes it easy for anybody to pass. The stairs to get up to the seats are pretty high for stairs, so if you have knee or mobility issues try and reserve seats D aisle and below. The seat are staggered in such away no one is blocking your view. I will definitely be coming back to this movie, 3D or not. I live in Phoenix, but it's just a short drive on the freeway. The area it is in is a huge shopping areas, so navigating around even more during the holidays is kind of a pain. Parking was not an issue, we parked behind the complex. read more

Seriously love this theater. The ticket prices are the same as for a regular theater, but this one is SO MUCH BETTER. the seats recline and the leg part lifts so you are seated in the most comfortable position possible. The seats are all really new and they keep the floor and everything very clean. I saw Jurassic World there this past weekend and I really appreciated that we could buy our tickets online earlier and reserve seats all together for a very small service fee. read more

Cinemark at Riverview is a great place to watch a movie. Unlike Harkins and AMC, it's rarely crowded and parking is plentiful. The seats are comfortable and the facility is clean and new. It would be nice if they had a loyalty program like Harkins, though. Why fight the crowds elsewhere? Cinemark is great! read more

Came here to watch a live boxing event. It was a nice experience to watch boxing on the big screen. Theatre was only 3/4 full, so it was just about right. Popcorn and a candy can be had for under $7 as well. Close proximity to bars and in and out privileges to the theatre really made this place a higher rating. It was $18 to watch, but I had free tickets. Mayweather won easy, but still a fun event. read more

I use to live in Old Town Scottsdale. We use to go to either Harkins Scottsdale Fashion Square or Harkins Tempe Marketplace for movies (which we do weekly) until we found Cinemark. They have online reserved seating, plenty of theatres for movie times, and the seats recline. Parking is better. The prices are the same as Harkins or cheaper. AND its only about 4 minutes further than Tempe Marketplace. They also show lots of old movies and offer senior discount days. The popcorn tastes like cardboard though . read more

I'm hesitant to write this review bc I don't want a bunch of people to find out about this theater, making it crowded.....but on the other hand, they could use the business and I would hate for them to go out of business. The theaters feature leather reclining seats. Extra wide isles. They are reserved seats. You can order online early to get the best seats but you can also order at the window at which point they will show you a screen so you can see what exact seats are available. $7.15 matinee and $9.40 regular price. The only downside to assigned seating, is if you have a friend who wants to go with you last minute and they aren't able to get a seat next to you bc it's been booked. They also offer concession coupons which is always nice. I took my sister , who lives in Laveen, to this theater on Saturday and she liked it so much that her and her BF came back the next day. That says a lot. To drive all the way from Laveen to Mesa just bc they like the comfort of the theater. read more

I love watching movies. If I had my way, I would have my own theatre. Well, the Cinemark is kind of that theatre. I love it because it is never busy and the actual theatres and seats are large and comfortable. They not only show latest popular releases, but they show alot of independant films as well. Recently, I went to see Thor on the first day it came out at a prime time. The theatre eventually had around 80% full but it wasn't over crowded. The biggest downfall is their concessions. There are no refills on lg. drinks????? What????? Oh and they charge you for using the flavored powder for your popcorn. Not good! If you are planning to see something check out this theatre. The more I come here the more I like it. The place is clean, ticket prices are reasonable if not a little more expensive than Harkins, and there usually isn't as much of a crowd. I have also found the people at this location to be a better behaved bunch during the movies. They also will honor the $1 refill Harkins cups which was always one of my big reasons for going to Harkins theaters all the time. I drive 21 miles to go here because the recliner seats are large and comfortable, the prices are good, and I love being able to reserve my seat before I get there. Which means no rushing to the theater because I know I will have a seat I want waiting for me. Another reviewer said he or she was concerned that his or her car would be okay after dark. This movie theatre has the worst customer service! My sisters and I bought tickets online to see the Joker, I am 23 years old and they did not let us in because she was 16, I AM MY SISTERS GUARDIAN. I'm not sure what they needed to be proven that, talk to my lawyer?! Absolutely ridiculous they don't even make me have to prove anything at Drs offices!! I'm live right between Tempe Marketplace and Mesa Riverview, so occasionally I'll visit this theater if I don't feel like dealing with the crowds at TMP. Since it's not usually as packed as Harkins, the movie viewing experience isn't as typical, but it's a nice change of pace. It's always very clean and the staff is very nice. read more

I hesitate to write a review about this theater because I seriously dont want anyone to know about it. In fact, I would give it 5 stars but I dont want people to go there. A good movie theater is hard to come by (Pavillions on Indian Bend?? Sick. That one in Mesa by the mall?? Kill me) but Cinemark has done it right. Sure, the teenagers working the popcorn machine are a little slow, but arent they all? And you wont mind the short line when you get a taste of this popcorn straight from heaven. There is some sort of magic powder on there (quit thinking that) and it is to DIE FOR. The place is clean, the workers know how to work a freaking ticket machine (so the kids at the theater on Shea didnt train them) and the seats inside are comfortable. Never a problem with sound or picture quality, or even obnoxious patrons. Who knew such a cinema haven existed?? read more

At first glance, you'd never know that Cinemark is fairly new. It's only five or six years old, but the box office, lobby, and concession stand all have an old and dated appearance. But while this theater may not be as glitzed up as a Harkins or AMC, the auditoriums are way better. They're completely stadium view, the seats are big and comfortable and the projector and sound system are both digital. It's a fantastic viewing experience. The prices here are exactly the same as Harkins. Next time I'm seeing a movie, I may pass up the busy Tempe Marketplace scene (hard to park and bigger crowd) for the much more layed back Mesa Riverview scene. It's just one exit over. I have nothing against the valley's major theater chains, but I'm happy that there's a new (and maybe better) option. More competition is always a good thing. read more

I absolutely love this theater. They have some really cool showings of older movies and live musicals on a big screen too! The staff has been really helpful and always makes sure we are satisfied. I do wish the seats were heated like AMC but it's not a huge deal. The seats are extremely comfortable and set up like stadium seating which is awesome! They offer cute things like T-shirts, cups and stuffed animals for some movies too!! My only big complaint is that each time I've ordered nachos here the chips taste like cardboard, no joke. The cheese tastes really old and I've gotten expired cheese several times and told the staff. I'd just make sure what you get isn't bad before heading into the theater. read more

This has become my new favorite movie theater! First off, you get big comfy seats and the opportunity to reserve them. So if you are running late for that movie, you don't have to worry about being stuck in the first row. You'll know before hand and isn't that what we all want to know?! The worst feeling is walking in and realizing the worst seats are available. Second, They offer student discounts at every time of day. I paid $7.50 for my seat and was exuberant. Overall, the theater was clean, cozy and made me feel like I was watching a movie from home. I love the free parking and the location. It makes it easy to grab a bite to eat before, run some errands and then hit a show. Now hit all those blockbusters coming out for the holidays because they have the seats to accommodate your needs! read more

This is the theatre that Hubby and I discovered by accident more than 2 years ago and went to several times when we lived in Mesa. It seemed to be the only thing open in the shopping plaza at Dobson and the 202 at the time. We were impressed by Cinemark- everything was clean (it had better- it was so new), the prices were better than Harkins and AMC, the seats were comfortable and the AC was low. I went back for the first time since we moved to CenPho today with Julia T., and I was glad to see that almost nothing had changed from my first impression. It was still clean, the staff was super friendly, the AC was far better than in the last 2 theatres I attended, and the prices were still a little lower than the bigger chains around here. There were even kids in the theatre with us and we didn't hear a peep from them or get our chairs kicked- imagine! I went home and told Hubby that this is where we're headed as often as possible to see movies from now on. I hope Cinemark makes it, actually. The shopping center is a ghost-town compared with the Tempe Marketplace, and many stores have yet to open. read more
