This was an amazing place that there was some decoration inside the cinema room specific for Toy 5. Kids were loving to take pictures on the stage. We arrived half an hour prior to the movie start. And we saw the decorations on the stage in front of the big screen. We took a few nice pictures with the figures and the toys there, even though the lighting was not bright enough, we still loved to play around. There was a staff there to help for taking pictures and asked questions if you had any. And she would clear the stage before the movie started. After movie, the stage will be reopened. However, that would be a long line up for entering the stage. Lucky us, we went early and have all pictures that we want. read more

We came to this movie theatre for an Avatar on weeknight. Yorkdale parking was pretty nice, we did have to go down a level but plenty of parking and the whole place is heated which is quite luxurious. The theatre is located on the upper level of Yorkdale. The theater was pretty packed for the showing we went to. Seats are comfy and theatre was clean. The seats seem to go a bit too far back though and can hit people's legs behind you. The concessions are typical pricing for theatres. The popcorn I got was pre popped and stored in a heated glass so it tasted a bit on the stale side. On the other hand, my partner got her popcorn fresh and was happy with it. I will say it's a bit on the oversalted side . Typical fountain drinks available . Movie visual and sounds were great! I went here recently to watch the new deadpool and wolverine movie. The classic poutine was really good and had a very generous portion size of gravy. The poutine supreme comes with sour cream and jalapenos. We sat in the screen x theatre and it was incredible, the movie becomes projected on the side of the walls and felt immersive. The seats on the side aisle were really good despite being closer to the screen. Highly recommend! read more

I am writing this for Yorkdale Cineplex management, to let you know that I was at the 1:40 mission impossible movie on May 6. The movie itself was great, but I am very surprised that the audience paid no attention to common sense etiquette. Mind you it was a Tuesday afternoon show, and it was not busy, so what I describe below was about 1/3 of the people in the theatre The one right behind had the phone on and talking from commercials, to previews, and into the main feature, and I had to tell him to put it away, although his bright screen did not bother us because we were in front of him, his conversation was certainly distracting Same row a few seats over were teenagers that kept rocking back and forth on the seat and making squeaking sounds 3 rows in front of me was a couple, the guys was texting every now and then, and they were talking loudly, get this, they were still talking to each other when one of them got up to to go outside while walking down the steps, this happened several times. I thought they were treating the theatre as their living room In the front row of the upper section, 3 people were talking loudly, and one of them was even talking with his hands In the middle of the movie, a phone rang, and nobody picked up I know you put in some reminder pre-show, but I think it can be beefed up a lot more to remind people of the basics: Turn the phone off, no conversations and just sit and enjoy the movie read more

I would not come to this particular Cineplex just to watch a movie. No.. No way! No even if the movie is free. (Amex seems do be doing a lot of their free screening at this location a lot lately!) Parking is horrible even on a weekday afternoon. Maybe I need to go to the multi level parking lot and see if parking situation is better? I can't imagine how it is on a weekend or evening. I would not like to find out. I was there 30 minute before show time and they said the theatre not ready?! I could not get in until 10 minute before posted show time. I don't know if this is normal, but definitely not what I experienced in other Cineplex locations. Will be a pass unless I am shopping at Yorkdale? I mainly came here to see "The Lion King" (2019), and it was just okay. For the most part, it's located at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, which itself is not too far away from the nearby Cineplex Cinemas at Yonge-Eglinton and Empress Walk. It's pretty easy to get to as it's off the 401, and since it's located in a mall, it's also convenient for people to shop there as well. The theatre itself was okay, only has 10 screens, has a self-service box office, a big space for concessions, a cinescape (formerly Techtown), and two AVX theatres. I put three stars because my screening was pretty disruptive as there were so many young children in the theatre as well as many people using their phones and not being told not to do so. The children also were either crying or asking their parents about the movie, which was disturbing my experience. If you live near Yorkdale, I recommend you to check it out to see the latest blockbusters, but for everyone else, just pass it up and go to somewhere closer instead. read more

This movie theatre is okay. It's not any better or worse than the other Cineplex locations. I would say this theatre gets busier than other theatres during the holiday season since many families spend the day shopping and then go to the movies afterwards. This theatre isn't anything special. It isn't the cleanest but it is on par with other Cineplex theatres like SilverCity Richmond Hill. In summary, I would give this theatre 3-stars! read more

My favourite cineplex theatre! I swear the screen sizes here are larger than others, and it usually shows most updated movies. Its big, spacious, generally clean and there are enough movie goers so that you are not bored in the theatre wondering what movie everyone else is watching instead of yours. I used to be a secret shopper for cineplex so I do notice the little things as well as the big items. This is a good theatre. Many food options available, decent quality when made, and right in yorkdale mall! To improve: the ultra avx seats are worn out by so many users, please change them asap!!! Also wish D-Box was in a higher sound and screen definition theatre! read more

This is by far one of the most ill kept Cineplex I have encountered. I am talking about poorly trained staff which are busy chatting up with each other in lines while you wait to buy the tickets, the nonchalant attitude towards service when you ask for something and simply the one of the worst kept washrooms I have encountered in a movie theater. I had stopped visiting this theater a while ago as the alternate nearby was much better. This visit was after a long gap spanning almost a decade. This was a spur of the moment visit as I was visiting the Yorkdale mall. This place can be busy as I saw lineups at some of the showing even though it was the middle of the day. Now for the experience itself in the theater which started poorly at the ticketing counter there was something off with the temperature in the theater as on a hot day it was uncomfortably warm inside. Moving on the washrooms were unacceptable and we are talking you don't want to step inside kind. I even talked to the manager as the first few people I asked had a nonchalant attitude toward the cleanliness of the place. Cineplex Yorkdale offers a less expensive experience than most of the downtown theaters. Like most Cineplex, the bathrooms are gendered but the environment is accessible. Most of the food is vegetarian friendly, but good luck ordering food if you're vegan. There are three places you can order food from, the typical cinema stand, a stand that does more hot dogs, chips and burgers and a Tim Hortons. If you're discreet, the theater doesn't seem to mind if you bring your own food in. Generally speaking, this place doesn't get as crowded as most of the downtown theaters. You don't HAVE to sit next to someone, which is nice. The theaters and bathrooms are well maintained. The seats tilt back and are super huge, which is very nice. read more

Watched a foreign movie for the very first time! Attendant inside the theatre# 8 (a Filipina woman) was very rude! We entered the theatre late to see the movie "Maid in Malacanang" for a 3:50pm show, guess what? The machine didn't give me the option to select our seats so we just entered to see the movie. When we finally sat down to watch it the movie we begin on chapter 4. We decided that we will just stay to see the beginning after this 3:50 pm show time. Finally movie was finished and on our way down from our unassigned seats we decided to use the washroom and come back after for the first 3 chapters and then we leave. To cut the long story short, we returned and used the 3 seats to the nearest exit hallway for reason that we have no intention of stayihg we just wanted to know how the movie started and see what we missed. Yes it is only 3 chapters which equals to 15 minutes perhaps of the entire movie but instead of quietly watching it and leave as soon as we catched up on what we saw, the owners of the seats approached us and we decided to give up of course the seats and we decided to stay on the hallway side of the movie theatre just to see what we missed and then leave. Then the 2 ushers stand besides us and one lady was nice and understanding but the other usher was happily trying to point out we shouldnt have done it because seats were assigned. The point here is, the rudeness and the way this attendant treated us was so irresponsible! We asked them nicely before we left the theatre and we dont want to create an embarrassing moment for ourselves, we just want to see the first 3 chapters and go - they keep insisting we shouldn't see the movie again - once again, the intention is not to repeat watching the whole movie, we just need to see the first 3 chapters. We spent and pay in full, we just want to see the movie in full also unfortunately because we came in late we missed the first 3 chapters. We are not the type of people to cheat the system and we didnt feel right being harassed and asked to leave the theatre when we are just trying to see what we missed and quietly we were on the side trying to see it then we can go but instead she called security and embarrassed us to be escorted to leave the theater. Security came and I tried to talk to him away from the hallway because people were watching and if there is some kind of commotion isn't it what we were supposed to do is to keep them away and not to disturb or disrupt your customers who are watching already? That's the right approach but instead they would rather talk to us on the floor where people can see or hear - what to add more embarrassing moment? What kind of a policy do they have when they have to examine a situation? Are these so-called managers really trained to handle a dispute? I dont think so!!! So we left the cinema and I am really upset because they could have been more understanding rather than embarassing a customers. So i decided to go back to the booth to ask for who is the manager? According to the attendant in the booth, Derek" is the manager for the evening and so we asked for Derek. Here comes Derek, I am trying to advise our story as what had happened there and this Derek insisted that I grabbed him in his hand and I made it clear I didnt grab him I held him to come and let's talk away from entrance of the hallway and explained that we jjust need the first 15 minutes and then he offered a 9:30pm showtime if we want to see it again - who wants to come back for 15 minutes if we have to wait till 9:30pm again? He offered tickets again for 9:30pm and we realized we have a 10 years old young lad who can't stay late so he should give us another date instead. What he didnt realize, we asked for that the first time he talked to us and he was insisting a 9:30pm show time is all he can give us and I clearly emphasized that his usher was so rude and talks down to customers who are honestly approaching and asking for a small favour yet instead of being understood we were treated like scammers and embarassing us like we just want to see the movie again even if our intention was spelled clearly and part of the reason why we insisted a seat next to the hallway because as soon as we see the part we missed, we are leaving. My whole argument here is, manager not well trained, usher is rude! Perhaps they are not selected properly and trained to have people skills - moral lesson of the story, discrimination and harassment should not be tolerated! Customer is always right!!! Especially if they are asking nicely to be understood. We could have requested a different date and time but we just wanted to save everyone's time given that we are all busy and who wants to ttavel back to Yorkdale just to see a movie again for only 15 minutes?​ read more

Yorkdale overwhelms me more and more with each visit, but the movie theatre here is still a good option, and I like that it is both TTC accessible and has free parking. The theater was packed when we went last night to see the Dark Knight Rises, almost two weeks after it opened. We were so happy that we had bought tickets for the UltraAVX theater, so we didn't have to worry about showing up early, our seats were assigned. I did buy my tickets on my Cineplex app, so they assigned us the 'best available seats' which can be subject to preference - we were up in the front section, but the seats in this theatre recline so much I didn't even mind. read more

This place is in need of a serious re-design. On it's busiest night (Saturday) we found ourselves in a terrible crowd of people trying to buy tickets. A lot of people, surprisingly, still stand in the actual ticket line (I think they just should get rid of them and have kiosks all over). There are some kiosks around, but line ups meet each other in a jumbled mess, you feel like you're in a nightclub trying to get through. It doesn't help that the soft ware isn't very responsive, and there are people out that have no idea how to use the machines. Lots of food options, including usually hotdog, nachos and popcorn. There's a Tim's and a Burger King. The chairs are the usual stadium seating, an nowadays I prefer to sit as far away from the screen as possible. The cinema also has UltraAVX reserved seating cinemas (and I strongly believe all cinemas need reserved seating). Parking upstairs is free, you just need to pass the loitering teenagers smoking outside. read more

Honestly I would not have gone back to this theatre if not for the location - but I did. And do I regret it? ABSOLUTELY. I went to see Avengers Endgame twice here and after my traumatic experience with Coco, I've realized this theatre has a terrible habit of leaving the door open during the movie. I literally got out of my seat myself to shut the door after the movie had been on for five minutes and no staff member was doing their job. This may seem like a minor issue but the fact that a big block of light shines onto the screen from the hall in the middle of the movie really detracts from the experience. Also, when I walked into the theatre it was incredibly hot. People were removing sweaters, commenting on the smell - it was just gross in there. I went to find a staff member to see if something could be done and I had to interrupt their gab-fest. They all made it very clear in their body language and their tone that I had inconvenienced them with my notifying them of the heat. Lastly, upon exiting the movie, there was no trash container in sight. Why? Probably because THE THEATRE ITSELF IS A BURNING TRASH BIN. read more

This was the first cinema I visited in the GTA and back then I loved it, but now it's age is showing just a tiny bit and when I came to watch a movie here a few days ago (for the first time in a year or so) I could definitely say that the theatre I was in had yet to make the change to digital cinema, which is no big deal for a small indie flick but when you go in looking for mindless CGI, you want to make sure that the sound and picture quality are the best possible and unfortunately this Silvercity does not deliver as well as some of the others in Toronto. As far as food options go, you get more than the typical concession stand and in what is one of few bright spots about this place; that they have a Tim Hortons, a chocolate dip to go with your movie? Sounds about right...right? I can't argue with the location, it's great for people that live in this area and very easy and accessible thanks to the highways around here and being attached to the mall makes a dinner and a movie night very easy here. read more

Since the buyout of Famous Players, Cineplex has renovated this theater in order to better fit their brand. Gone are the arcade machines and certain food vendors. This theatre is OK if you're in the area but it's usually not my first choice. Parking in Yorkdale is terrible but it has about 12 screens including a few AVX ones. There's only so many movie theatres in Toronto that I enjoy going to. Yorkdale is one of those that I prefer going to other than the Scotiabank Theatre. If you drive then this place is perfect for you because it has free parking that is located right entrances to the movies. This location has many different offerings from regular movies to D-BOX. the only problem I have about this location is that when you buy popcorn there isn't a butter dispenser that is FREE. I know at other locations there are butter dispensers. other than that it is like any other movie theatre. -CL read more

Very convenient location with lots of parking and easy TTC access.

No real complaints about this theatre. The seats are reasonably comfortable, the bathrooms are pretty clean and the employees are nice enough. The only annoying thing is the area to buy tickets. It's this long snakey line that's as far as possible from the entrance escalators. It can be confusing. What I like about this spot is that the auto dispensers are plentiful, and I usually end up buying my tickets from them anyhow. read more

Seen two movies here so far. Big screens and louder volume may be too over-bearing for some, but it's really why people go to the movies in the first place rather than waiting for them to come out on DVD, Netflix, or your cable company's On-Demand service. I'm already desensitized to the outrageous high price of going to the movies these days, though this place was better than some others I've been to in that regard!. I just wish the theater numbers here were clearer. I was confused looking for my movie after I gave my ticket. Oh well. For where I stay when I'm in Toronto, this place is closer and maybe cheaper than going downtown to Dundas to the AMC there! read more

There is always friendly staff at Yorkdale, along with delicious but pricey concessions. The only cons are that the Ultra AVX still has mediocre legroom and its one of the theatres where you pay 13.00 instead of 12.50. read more

This theater is convenient in the sense that its within the mall. Great for tuesday nights. Ample comfortable seating. The popcorn and nacho cheese have gone south unfortunately. Cheese is runny and popcorn is tasteless. You are better off sneaking your own in. read more

I actually like this theatre, not too big; not too small, has seats far apart and it's inside one of torontos best mall districts! The cost is normalfor every theatre an obviously the food is more then what you would expect outside so you might as well eat in the YD food court to save money before watching a movie!
