EAT HERE. This wine store/bistro is everything. The staff was friendly and helpful and it's such a fun place to visit. Lunch items are best quality meats, cheeses, spreads, fruits, veg and nuts. On a baguette, sourdough panini, or salad, all creative and delicious. Also impressed with their cheese/cracker/snack selection. I walked there everyday during my vacation, and left with as much delicious food as I could carry. Besides premade food, I left with items to stock a girls night charcuterie board: Brie, jalapeño cheddar crackers, almond sea salt crackers, green Italian olive spread, cherry/almond/cocoa nib crackers, vanilla and cinnamon spiced nuts, kettle corn, peanut butter chocolate fudge, chocolate, covered animal, crackers, almond toffee,. (The gfs said the board was soooo good). Favorites: The Boardwalk: Ricotta spread, genoa salami, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sweet pepper, spinach Weekly specials: Lemon Artichoke Soup Prosciutto, cheese, hot honey panini

Wonderful new addition to colonial beach! I've been coming here for the last two years with my BF and the area has been in need of something like this. The ambiance is very relaxed but upscale casual. You could wear shorts and a tee shirt and sneakers and be fine. They have seating inside and outside, a lovely little patio area. They have a huge array of cheese, meats, bread, desserts, chocolates and gifts. They have a good sized menu of charcuterie boards, sandwiches, 3 different types of grilled cheese, salads and soups. Their wine selection is very extensive and there is something for everyone. They also sell beer and seltzers and nonalcoholic drinks too. The owners are the nicest people and they have hired great staff who provided quick and efficient service. We will be back! I highly recommend going in and trying everything!

We were seated promptly, no awkward hovering, and our waitress showed up friendly, sharp, and knowing her way around the menu--which is a quality that ought to be listed right next to "clean silverware." We started with the crab and corn chowder, and let me say this right now: the crab was not there for decoration. It announced itself. Big flavor, no apologies, the way crab chowder ought to be. Second round was the smoked salmon salad. Perfect. The salmon was excellent, but that tarragon caper dressing had a way of making you slow down and think about life choices. I would put that dressing on just about anything that didn't move fast enough. For the main event, I chose the scallops, and I am prepared to testify they were as good as any I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, sitting pretty with an aioli that knew its job and did it well. My wife ordered the beef medallions, and I'll admit this with humility: looking back, I may have chosen wrong. Those medallions were expertly prepared and packed with flavor, the kind that makes you reconsider your own plate. We finished with cheesecake and berries. The cheesecake did its part. The berries... well, not every inning is a home run. Fortunately, the wine stepped in like a good relief pitcher and made everything right again. Through it all, the service never slipped. We were treated the way folks ought to be treated when they go out to celebrate something that matters. And that, in my book, counts just as much as what's on the plate. Sorry for the lack of pictures the food and wine kept my attention

I seriously did not expect a restaurant in Fredericksburg to meet our expectations. Service was spot on as well. The beef medallions were tender and cooked perfectly medium. The shrimp were unexceptional next to the medallions. The cauliflower and other veggies with a hint of basil were lovely. The scallops were tender and fresh --so rare these days that we rarely order them. We chose a bottle of wine instead of wine pairings and our server helped us navigate the extensive wine list. The Beaumes de Venise red was a great choice because we are not so fond of white wine. The pot de chocolat and creme brulee were a perfect ending to an outstanding meal.

I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few. Next time, I'll be ordering food with my wine and lingering much longer! Thanks for a great end to my week. See y'all soon! Cheers!

The service is wonderful, with staff being very knowledgeable about the wines. What I love is the fact that you can taste as many wines as you want to once you've loaded up your Curio card. You can also choose a 2oz or 3oz pour instead if you already know what you want. I haven't tried the food here yet, but I'll definitely be coming back for the cinnamon spiced sangria and the mulled wine (must be bought from the bar. Not available on tap.) A must for all wine lovers.

It was quite with some music. Service was friendly but just a little slow. We ordered a variety of dishes including: Chorizo al Vino Tinto, Spiendini, Patatas con Aioli, Croquettes, Gambas a la Plancha, Gambas al Ajillo, Albondigas, Carne Pizza, and Paella de Carne and the Zeppole for dessert. We loved the Chorizo al Vino Tinto and the Spiendini. Both were delicious and well seasoned. The Gambas a la Plancha had a very good chimichurri sauce and the Albondigas were very flavorful. The Paella came out quickly but it wasn't my favorite. It wasn't like a traditional Paella and there were olives and red onions. Overall still ok, and the Gambas al Ajillo had a sweetness to it. The Carne Pizza was good though. My friend ordered the cocktail Purple Rain and he enjoyed it. We did like most of the items ans would definitely come back to try the other dishes.

We always get the charcuterie board, the white pizza, the paella, and other small plates:10/10. Drinks: I've tried quite a few of their cocktails and have to admit the only thing I didn't love was the Bloody Mary but that is down to personal preference. Everyone makes theirs a little different and that's okay. Regardless: 10/10. Overall, a solid 5 stars for Tapa Rio. I'll keep coming back here for sure!
